A Wise Child of God Leader Will Always Point You to The Holy Spirit for All Truth
~ Bob George was a wise leader, who always pointed us to check out the word of God for ourselves. As we mentioned last week, and this bears repeating, Don’t believe what any man says, no matter who he is. For deception runs rampant in the church today, and most have no clue about how the lies of Satan get passed on down through the teaching of man, without ever checking out to see if things are true or not of what man is saying. Don’t assume that anyone has all the details of Truth worked out either. And don’t assume that someone you respect, cannot be deceived themselves in a key area of the word of God. And then there are those who have shown their true colors, by their fruits, and have not repented of the errors of their ways, even when pointing things out directly to them. They went out from us, but were never a part of us. [1 John 2:19] The Holy Spirit, who lives in the True child of God will teach you the Truth of everything, and context is always important to consider in the word of God.
We still need to be on our guard by constantly abiding in the Holy Spirit, for ALL wisdom comes directly from Him, and that is what it means when we say, we need to “wise up.” For All wisdom is found only in God himself, and the Holy Spirit makes that known to us. Man’s wisdom is useless and is foolishness to God, and doesn’t carry any weight with God at all. ‘For the wisdom of this world is foolishness in God’s sight. As it is written: “He catches the wise in their craftiness.”’ 1 Corinthians 3:19 That might ruffle a few pride filled feathers to know that only True wisdom comes from God. Ask for wisdom from God directly and He will give it with great abundance without finding fault. There are actually those out there that are deceived beyond measure, and don’t have a clue what they are even doing. And it’s so important to heed to the Holy Spirit teaching you of Truth. There are those that use this ministry to try and give credibility to other ministries as though by sprinkling this ministry posts it props the others up. They will post all types of other conflicting ministries on their social media pages that are in direct opposition to the Truth of the finality of the cross, and forgiveness having been completed once for ALL, teaching legalism left and right and that have even much deeper types of lies built into these other ministries themselves, and these people place them on a pedestal without so much as a thought of the Truth that forgiveness was completed at the cross and the New Covenant that we live under today. Heck, some even deny the New Covenant itself. Some get upset when a matter of fact statement is made, and it ruffles their feathers. Well, Jesus made matter of fact statements too. For even He said to the apostles, to be on their guard about men: “Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves; therefore be shrewd as serpents and innocent as doves. But beware of men; for they will deliver you into the courts and they will flog you in their synagogues. And you will be brought also before governors and kings on account of Me, as a testimony to them and to the Gentiles. And when they deliver you up, do not be anxious how or what you should speak; for in that hour you will be given what you should say, for you are not those speaking, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you.” Matthew 10:16-20 Today we might not be being flogged in their synagogues, but know this, we still need to be shrewd as serpents and innocent as doves, and allow the Holy Spirit to work in and through us.
A wise leader points a person to Jesus and points them for trusting in the Holy Spirit to teach ALL truth. I remember Bob saying many times, “Don’t trust me for what I say, I could be wrong. Go to the word of God yourself to verify everything.” That is good advice today. What other ministry says to depend on the Holy Spirit for teaching TRUTH? None that come to mind. And don’t forget, even Bob George had things wrong, and he changed his mind (repented) on key aspects of the word of God once the Holy Spirit had showed the truth to him. Then he exercised faith (properly responding to Truth) and told the people (us) where he was wrong and then started teaching Truth. Yet there are still places where people are wrong in their understanding of Scripture, and if he were with us today, Bob would once again repeat what he said, “Don’t trust me. Check things out for yourself in the word of God.” And hence, we are at this point where we ought to “Remember your leaders who spoke the word of God to you. Consider the outcome of their way of life and imitate their faith. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever… Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they watch over your souls as those who must give an account. To this end, allow them to lead with joy and not with grief, for that would be of no advantage to you… Greet all your leaders and all the saints.” What did Bob George say to do? Check out the word of God for yourself, verify if things are so. Context always matters, leaders within the church are being talked about here in the book of Hebrews, and we are not jumping around to other leaders outside the church here either, for only the ones in the church are the leaders that watch over your souls. Details matter in everything. Pay attention to the details. And if the words you are reading here right now cause you to take pause, then the Holy Spirit will show you the Truth too. Trust only in God, not Man for all Truth. Lean not on your own understanding of anything today, for all wisdom comes from God. “Now if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask from God, the One giving generously to all and not finding fault, and it will be given to him.” James 1:5
~ Continue in brotherly love. Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have entertained angels without knowing it. Remember those in prison as if you were bound with them, and those who are mistreated as if you were suffering with them. Marriage should be honored by all and the marriage bed kept undefiled, for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers. Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, for God has said: “Never will I leave you, never will I forsake you.” So we say with confidence: “The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?” Remember your leaders who spoke the word of God to you. Consider the outcome of their way of life and imitate their faith. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. Do not be carried away by all kinds of strange teachings, for it is good for the heart to be strengthened by grace and not by foods of no value to those devoted to them. We have an altar from which those who serve at the tabernacle have no right to eat. Although the high priest brings the blood of animals into the Holy Place as a sacrifice for sin, the bodies are burned outside the camp. And so Jesus also suffered outside the city gate, to sanctify the people by His own blood. Therefore let us go to Him outside the camp, bearing the disgrace He bore. For here we do not have a permanent city, but we are looking for the city that is to come. Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise, the fruit of lips that confess His name. And do not neglect to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased. Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they watch over your souls as those who must give an account. To this end, allow them to lead with joy and not with grief, for that would be of no advantage to you. Pray for us; we are convinced that we have a clear conscience and desire to live honorably in every way. And I especially urge you to pray that I may be restored to you soon. Now may the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, equip you with every good thing to do His will. And may He accomplish in us what is pleasing in His sight through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen. I urge you, brothers, to bear with my word of exhortation, for I have only written to you briefly. Be aware that our brother Timothy has been released. If he arrives soon, I will come with him to see you. Greet all your leaders and all the saints. Those from Italy send you greetings. Grace be with all of you.Hebrews 13:1-25
Pray to God:
“Lord Jesus, teach me the truth of the world today and give me the wisdom to know the truth and identify the lies of the devil. Thank you God.”
~ “Keep your lives free from the love of money. It certainly doesn’t say keep your lives free from money. That would be a little difficulty. Some of us have tried that, but it says to keep our lives free from the love of money that Chuck was talking about, he was an executive with Xerox, and that wasn’t enough, so he decided to grow some marijuana and and all of that type of thing today, a dear brother in Christ, a phenomenal pastor that has come to understand the grace of God, is now struggling with his denomination in regard to the teaching of the fullness of the grace of God. But is in him, understands it, and is moving out with great the boldness of God in the proclamation of this message, but the love of money, it carries you into all kinds of tricks. And you don’t have to be rich to have the love of money. You can be poor and be in love with money. So the love of money means I want to keep what I’ve got and, and I don’t care what I have to do, I’m going to keep everything I can and and it says it’s an entrapment. And guys, when you understand the grace of God, I’ll tell you there are a lot of things in life that are not going to be the same temptations to you and me that we used to experience out there in the world, there’s going to be new ones and more subtle temptations than you’ve had before, and it’s going to be very easy, and it is very easy for us to fall into entrapments of subtleties, not the grossies, but the subtleties of entrapment. And these are attitudes of the heart. That he is saying is the only thing to develop these attitudes that’s going to keep you from falling into the trap of those subtleties. And one of the attitudes is, don’t be in love with money and to be content with what you have, because it’s God who said, I’ll never leave you and I’ll never forsake you. And so we say with confidence, The Lord is my helper. I will not be afraid. What can man do to me? It says, To Remember your leaders who spoke the word of God to you another attitude, the apostles spoke the word of God to these early Christians, and he’s saying, Remember those leaders. And I think what we have done, in many instances is some people have taken this to try to hammer and put people under some kind of a control in the church, in using passages of Scripture like this to try to make a control mechanism, it isn’t the case of it doesn’t say Allow leaders to control you, but it says, remember them, because there is a pressure when you’re in the position of the proclamation of the Word of God. There’s a pressure there. There is no question about that. There are temptations and pressures there that necessarily are not out in other areas of work or employment, or whatever it might be, people say full time, we’re on full time Christian work. That is true to a degree. But there is when God calls some to be teachers and some to be pastors, evangelists, that type of thing. There is a pressure there. Believe me, I’ve been on both sides of it, that there is a pressure on this side that is not on the other side, and that’s why it’s saying to remember them, they spoke the word of God to you and consider the outcome of their way of life and imitate their faith. It doesn’t say imitate their actions, but it says, imitate their faith. And a leader who is in the Word of God, the only example that I want to ever be, and I don’t ever want to think whether am or not, but the only example that is there is, am I a person that’s trust the Lord, or aren’t I? And if I am, that’s a good example to follow.” ~ Bob George

Keep your lives free from the love of money. There’s a pressure there. There is no question about that. It doesn’t say imitate their actions, but it says, imitate their faith. And a leader who is in the Word of God, the only example that I want to ever be, and I don’t ever want to think whether am or not, but the only example that is there is, am I a person that’s trust the Lord, or aren’t I? And if I am, that’s a good example to follow.
It says that Jesus is the same yesterday and today and forever. So don’t be carried away by all kinds of strange teachings. You suppose there’s any of those out there? It’s good for our hearts to be strengthened by grace. So he said, Grace of God will strengthen your heart. You’re not going to strengthen your heart by ceremonial foods, which are of no value to those who eat them. We have an altar from which those who minister at the tabernacle have no right to eat. If you’re in Christ, you got a different altar. It’s the cross of Calvary. Those who are not at the cross of Calvary. That’s not their altar. They got another one out there someplace. The high priest carries the blood of animals to the most holy place as a sin offering, but the bodies are burnt outside the camp. And so Jesus also suffered outside of the city gate to make the people holy, set apart through his own blood, not the blood of bulls and goats, but through his own blood and let us therefore it says, Go to him outside the camp, not in the temple outside. That’s where he died. He didn’t die inside the Holy of Holies. He died outside, for all people bearing the disgrace that he bore. It’s much more acceptable to had he been able to die in the temple. But he didn’t die in the temple. He didn’t die on the altar where they killed blood, where the blood of bulls and goats were offered. He went outside the camp and died. He died out there and bore the disgrace of it. For here we don’t have an enduring city, but we are looking for the city that is to come, which is the Heavenly Jerusalem. Man is still preoccupied with the earthly Jerusalem. And the Bible is telling us there’s a heavenly Jerusalem has come, and that’s where we ought to be preoccupied with.
Now it says, Through Jesus, Therefore let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise, the fruit of lips that confess his name and don’t forget to do good and to share with others. For with such sacrifices, God is pleased. Now it talks about obey your leaders. Now that is not talking about church leaders. That’s talking about the government, obey your leaders and submit to their authority. Now, doesn’t that sound funny as a Christian, but you see, as a born again Christian, I have no qualms at all about obeying my leaders, unless my leaders told me to do something and tried to force me to do something that was contrary to the Word of God. But we have to understand something about authority, that we live in a world and man is sinful, and if you didn’t have laws to control and curtail the sin nature of man, this place would be in utter chaos, would it not? And so God initiated government. Whether we like it or not is not the issue. The issue is it doesn’t matter whether I like it or not, because I’m in the world, but I’m not of it, and so it’s not difficult to obey it, because I’m not hung up on it anyway. And so it is saying to us, to obey your leaders and submit to their authority. They keep watch over you. Now I realize that that’s like the police force. It’s like the army. It’s like everything else. They keep watch over they’re the thing that enables some sort of sanity to come in a world that would be totally insane without those rules and regulations that the world has to live under. So they look out after you as men who must give an account, so obey them, so that their work will be a joy and not a burden. For that would be no advantage to you. There would be no advantage to me, as a Christian, to make the work of the police force a burden or the work of the government a burden. In fact, by trying to do so, I’d have to be a spend more time trying to fight the government than I would share the Lord.
Now, let’s turn back over to First Peter. First Peter two, beginning at verse 13. Submit yourself, for the Lord’s sake, to every authority instituted among men, whether to a king or to a supreme authority, or to governors who are sent by him by God to punish those or by them, to punish those do wrong and to commend those who do right, for it is God’s will that by doing good, you should silence the ignorant talk of foolish men. There were Christians back in those days who said, I am under God. I don’t have to listen to anything. I don’t have to listen civil authority. I’m not under their authority. I can do, anything I want to do. In other words, we as Christians are above the law. There are Christians today who are creeping into that, we’re above the law. And it’s saying, Don’t do that. It’s God’s will that by doing good, you silence the ignorant talk of foolish men. I’m in the world. I’m going to obey the government, but I’m not of it. Live as free men, but don’t use your freedom to cover up for evil. There are people who can do evil against the very government that we live in and cover that up as being godly. So don’t use your freedom to cover up your evil, your love of money. Live as servants of God. Show proper respect to everyone. Love the brotherhood of believers, Fear God and honor the king. He’s talking about civil obedience.
Turn back to Romans, if you will. Chapter 13 in the book of Romans, Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authority of government over man was established by God. We’re very privileged to live in a country where we can elect officials, and then we get all preoccupied with that and think that somebody is going to come and really do something. I haven’t seen much done in my years, but maybe someone will. That’s not the solution to the world. Is politics. It’s the Lord. But we still get off and again, that’s one of those things where we start thinking that maybe man can do something. And quite frankly, we can think that, but I’m just glad elections only come every four years, so we can only get hung up, you know, every four years on that stuff. But the fact of the matter is that man is not going to correct anything, only God’s going to change things. But he established authority for to keep rule and to keep from chaos from going rampant. So there is no authority on this earth, no government on this earth, that has not been established by God. The authorities that exist have been established by God. Now, I don’t know how much clear you need it than that, do you? They’ve been established by God. Consequently, he who rebels against the authority of the government is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves, not from God, but from the government.

Bob George 14:08
We went out a number of years ago to the prison in Big Spring, and it was a prison out there for kind of white collar crime, Bob, were you out there? You were out there with us? Weren’t you? A number of you. And it was interesting as you went out there. They didn’t even, they don’t have a fence. They call it going over the curb and but it’s all, it’s all white collar people. And one of the guys out there was the ex president of of TI, I think it’s LTV, and as he said to me, said, Bob, I could run General Motors with the talent out here. And that was true. And you had people out there. And I, I always remember this one guy out there. That proud. I mean, here he was in prison, just proud as punch, and he was a tax evader, and he had decided he wouldn’t need to pay taxes. Well, he certainly arranged not to in prison and proud of it. And I said, What are you going to do when you get out? I’m going to do same thing. Do same thing, in other words, and as a Christian, he was claimed, I’m a Christian, I’m not going to pay taxes, and going to do the same thing, end up back in prison. Well, what is that? Well, it says that it’s a person who rebels against authority, rebelling against God, and he’s brought judgment on himself, and too dumb to realize why he’s being judged. Now, if you’re in love with money, well, I guess that is going to be a big issue for you. But if you’re not in love with money, and you’re not in love with the world, and you know that the government has to be run by money, why then you pay your income tax. Do I like have the pay income tax? No, I wish you didn’t have to pay them. But I couldn’t live in America if it didn’t, because there’s things that have to be done here. And so it is saying rulers hold no terror for those who do right, but for those who do wrong. Do you want to be free from fear of the one in authority? Then do what is right. He’ll command you. You’ll live it in fear, guys, I remember the the times that the temptations, every April, every April, I get tempted. Every April I’m down there said I just cheat a little bit. I mean, I just get the United States, or maybe a buck or two, and I say, but you know, the problem with that? I don’t want to be living with the fear of getting a letter from IRS. It’s not worth it. It’s not worth it, and that’s why it’s in if you’re doing right, then you don’t have to fear, live in fear, all you’re doing when you try to escape those kind of things is to build fear on yourself, and rightfully so, because the Bible very clearly says you are going to bring judgment upon yourself with those kind of things. So he says, For He is God’s servant to do you good, but if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword. For nothing, he is God’s servant, an agent of wrath, to bring punishment on the wrongdoer. That’s what our government does. That’s what our police force does. You bring punishment on the wrongdoer. Therefore, it’s necessary to submit to authorities, not only because of possible punishment, but also because of conscience. Now this is why it says you’re to pay taxes for the authorities are God’s servants to give their full time to governing. So give everyone what you owe him. If you owe taxes, pay taxes. If revenue, pay your revenue. If respect pay respect and if honor, well, then honor.
Now let’s see if Jesus had anything to say about that. Okay, so let’s go back to Matthew. Matthew 17. Go down to verse 24 now here were taxes that were being taxed upon people that were religious temple taxes, that type of thing. And so in verse 24 after Jesus and the disciples arrived at Capernaum, the collectors came to Peter and asked, Does your teacher pay temple tax? So this was religious tax. And they said, Yes, he does. I have a feeling he didn’t have a clue whether he did or not. But said, Oh yes, he does. So when Peter came into the house, Jesus was the first to speak. He didn’t even give Peter a chance to say, Do you or don’t you? And he said, he just hit him. He said, What do you think, Simon? Now look at the reasoning of Lord. Now here’s something where you’re going to have to pay a tax to the Lord. See. What do you think, Simon, from whom do the Kings on Earth collect duty and taxes from their own sons or from others? Well, of course, the answer, well, that’s from others. Well, then Jesus said, well, then the sons are exempt. Now he’s talking about, see, he was saying, pay taxes. My my Father’s my Father is God. Does he collect from his son? But he said, so that we may not offend them, go to the lake and throw out your line and take the first fish you catch, open its mouth. You’re going to find a four your comma coin and take it and give it to them. Pay my taxes and yours. Pay them both. In other words, does the Father collect from his own Son? No, but in order not to a fan to make waves, go out and pay it.
Matthew, 22 now we’re going to see another kind of tax in verse 15, when the Pharisees went out and laid plans to trap him, in his words, they sent their disciples to him, along with the Herodians, Teacher, they said, We know that you’re a man of integrity and that you teach the way of God in accordance with the truth, and you aren’t swayed by men because you pay no attention to who they are. Tell us. Then, what is your opinion? Is it right to pay taxes to Caesar or not, and Jesus knowing their evil intent as to why they’re even asking the question. Said, You hypocrites, why are you trying to trap me? Show me the coin that is used for paying the tax. And they brought him a denarius. And he asked them, whose portrait is on this and whose inscription? Caesar’s they replied, and he said to them, Then give to Caesar, what’s Caesar’s and to God, what’s God’s. When they heard this, they were amazed, so they left him and they went away.
My friends in this world, as it says in Hebrews, to stay away and to be cautious of all kinds of strange teachings. And there are all kinds of strange teachings going on. And I don’t believe it is accidental that we came to the end of Hebrews at this particular time of talking about this very subject, of obeying your leaders, because there is not a lot, but there is a little bit. And so I’m saying this to warn this congregation. There are people who are out teaching that you do not have to pay your taxes. And all I’m saying is to those people, you’re gonna end up in jail if you continue with that type of stuff. And the grabbing on to that kind of stuff comes from a love of money and and a pride that says we’re above the law. Now I understand how we as Christians can get to thinking that we shouldn’t have to obey the government, but the fact of the matter is, the Bible very clearly says to obey your government, and as long as we’re going to live in this world, we’re going to have taxes to pay. And so what? What belongs to Caesar, give it to him, and what belongs to God, give to him. You know, why? What? Just keeps your conscience free. And so a lot of times, there are a lot of things that come along that sound good to man, and I understand that, and I’m not being critical, I’m just saying I’m giving as a warning. There are a lot of things that come along that sound good, but you’d better match up what someone says to you once again, aren’t you glad we have a plumb line up against the word of God, and if it doesn’t match, get rid of it. Get rid of it, because otherwise we’ll be visiting you out across the curb, and that’s the last thing that I ever want to see, is someone in this group, or any other group who names the name of Christ to be behind bars because of being led astray by someone who thinks they’ve got some teaching that’s more that’s smarter than the Word of God. So I say that out of love and compassion. If anyone’s involved in that.
Well, we’ve had a funny morning, and I appreciate your listening to some of the things in my own heart that has taken place and being having the opportunity to put our perspective right. You know, folks, it’s, it’s like a lot of issues that come up when the United States government comes up in the and passes laws. As an example, pornography, say, well, that’s okay. I It doesn’t say I have to go look at it. It doesn’t say I have to go buy it. It says it’s okay for someone to sell it, and if it’s okay for someone to sell it, then my role is merely to persuade people to keep their mind sober not to pick at a store selling pornography. If the government ever came up and said that you and I had to look at pornography, then that would be another stance. Then we’d be talking about something else, but our role as Christians, as my buddy said, he didn’t send Christ into the world to condemn the world. That’s why he sent us. That our role as Christians is if Christ, Jesus was not sent into the world to condemn it, then if we’re in Christ, that’s not our job either. But we have a marvelous opportunity to persuade and to teach people truth that will set them free, and to realize that if a person rebels against the truth, that they’re rebelling against God. And that’s the issue, and that’s the problem. These down here are side issues. The issue is that your heart is rebelling against God. And if it’s rebelling against God in one part, then it’s probably rebelling against it in many parts. And so we have to deal with the rebellion, not how it manifests itself, but with the rebellion itself. And so as we have the opportunity to walk on this earth, we have the opportunity to walk knowing Him, and to be able to persuade others to know him, because that’s why Titus is saying it is truly the grace of God that teaches you to say no to unrighteousness, nothing else just the grace of God. And I thank God for him, and I thank God for His love. I thank God for His mercy and His grace. And I’ve asked him to not let me take for granted the things that are so precious to me. And I can say very honestly that a part of those things that are very precious to me are all of you, and I don’t want to take you for granted even so I thank God for you, and we’re glad to be back.

Listen to the Salvation message today!
Stand on the firmness of truth. Don’t keep going back and forth. Thank Him that the forgiveness issue is settled.
Let’s pray together:
- Lord Jesus,
- I thank you for taking away my sins on the cross,
- never ever to see them again.
- Having done that, I now thank you for giving me eternal life,
- through your resurrection.
- I now receive that life.
- And I am going stand in the fact that I am a child of the living God.
- In Jesus Holy name I pray.
- Amen
All believers are now brothers and sisters in Christ.
