Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P699 (01-13-22)

The Saving Life of Jesus Christ – Salvation for Sinners!

Clarence called from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He called about salvation. He said he had lived a hard life, and a life of sin. He wanted know if he could be healed. He wanted to know if he could be saved. He wanted to know if there was any hope for him. He asked the bottom-line question, “Am I earmarked for damnation now? Or is there anyway at this point that I can be saved?”

Bob George Shares the Gospel.

Yes, Clarence you can be saved.

Bob says to the salvation question, “Yes absolutely, God didn’t come to save good people, there aren’t any good people. He only came to save sinners. And in that, we are all well qualified.

What we need to realize that when Jesus went to a cross 2000 years ago, there, He, Jesus, who knew no sin, literally took upon himself and became sin for the sins of the whole world; back to Adam and forward to eternity, and there He who knew no sin became sin for us so that in His resurrection we could become the righteousness of God.

2 Corinthians 5:21
21 God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

1 John 2:22 KJV
22 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.

Every sin that you have committed, or will commit has been placed on Jesus Christ at the cross. That’s why no one will go to hell because of their sins; but because of the sin of the rejection of Jesus as God in the flesh. In other-words it is a rejection of what God came to do for you.

John 16:9
9 about sin, because people do not believe in me;

Clarence asked, “Is the sin of unbelief the unpardonable sin?”

Bob answered, “That’s right. You can’t be pardoned of that sin, it must be repented of.” And so, it is the refusal of a people to believe that Jesus took away your sins on the cross. It’s the complete denial of that. They refuse to place faith in Him and what Jesus did on the cross for them. People refuse to believe that God was in Christ, having reconciled us to Himself and is no longer counting our sins against us.

2 Corinthians 5:19
19 that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation.

All sins have been forgiven at the cross, this was reconciliation, however we are still dead and in need of life. Until you come to life, you are already under the condemnation of sin, and that is death. So God is not dealing with us based on our sins today. And so, the only thing that anyone of us can do today is for us to accept (place faith) in Him and His resurrected life will give you Life. And you will come alive in Christ.

Romans 6:23
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

In other words, the cross is what cleared the deck for God to do the divine action of giving you Life – Eternal. Had he not taken away every sin of the world, He could not have given (offered) us Life – Eternal. Because if sins were not taken care of once for all, the next time you sinned, you would die again. For we know the wages of sin is death, and if you sinned, you would die (again).

And so He had to take away eternally that which would cause spiritual death so that He could offer us and give us eternal life.

So each of us have to come and make a decision. Do I want the Life of Christ to come in me and to give me life and have His life living in me?

So the resurrection of Christ, that life is now ready to come and raise you from your state of spiritual death. And the issue is, are you ready to receive that Life?

Clarence says, “Yes I am ready, the only thing that puzzles me is will He accept me or not at this point?”

Bob clarifies to him that you can not be saved if you are left wondering if He will accept you or not. You see, God so loved the world.

John 3:16
16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

Are you part of the world or not? Of course the answer is yes. No one is from mars. All of us is included in the group of the world. When God says He loved the world, that means YOU! For God so loved You that He gave His only begotten Son that whey You believe in Him, You will have eternal life!

Some people are like a doubting Thomas, where he said I’m not going to believe until I put my fingers in His side or through His hands. Some people are like that. Get rid of this thinking process. Why wouldn’t He want to save you? Are you not part of His creation? And He Loves you! Sure, I know what you are thinking, “how could He love me?” But that what’s God’s unconditional love is all about. His love passes all understanding. So in order to come to God, you first of all must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

Hebrews 11:6
6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

So if you are thinking that God isn’t going to reward me with His salvation, there isn’t any sense in messing around with it. But if you believe what the bible says that, “God Loves You”… you see that He not only loves you but He demonstrated His love for you.

Romans 5:10
10 For if, while we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life!

Clarence had a final question in regards to Hebrews 10:26. He wanted to know if Bob was familiar with it and what did it mean.

Hebrews 10:26
If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left,

Bob was very familiar with it. Many people misinterpret it. So what does it mean? Hebrews 10 and the trampling under foot is people that don’t believe in the finished work of Jesus on the cross. These are the people that keep going back to their sacrificial system. They believe in keeping short accounts with God. They believe in their wrong interpenetration of 1 John 1:9 of asking for forgiveness by God to get forgiven. They believe in going to their confession booth to get forgiven. These people are trampling the Son of God and holding Him up to public disgrace.

What About 1 John 1:9

Hebrews 10:29
29 How much more severely do you think someone deserves to be punished who has trampled the Son of God underfoot, who has treated as an unholy thing the blood of the covenant that sanctified them, and who has insulted the Spirit of grace?

These people are doubting their sins have been taken away at the cross.

Are you willing to accept what God said, that “I Love You,” and I went to a cross to take away Your sins from the eyes of God to never see them again? Do you believe that?

Clarence answered, “Yes I do.”

Bob goes on to ask, “And when I (Jesus) was raised from the dead, that I was raised from the dead to take away the consequences of your sins which is death, and by giving You my resurrected Life? And I have one desire is to give you Life and make you alive? Do you believe that?”

Clarence answered, “Yes I believe that.”

Okay then, are you ready to accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior?

Clarence answered, “Yes I do accept Jesus Christ as my personal Lord and Savior.”

That is great! Let’s pray together. Let’s just solidify that. And what I want you to do is mark today’s date in your bible. And don’t let Satan ever come and tell you that you are not really saved.

Stand on the firmness of truth. Don’t keep going back and forth. Thank Him that the forgiveness issue is settled.

Let’s pray together:

  • Lord Jesus,
  • I thank you for taking away my sins on the cross,
  • never ever to see them again.
  • Having done that, I now thank you for giving me eternal life,
  • through your resurrection.
  • I now receive that life.
  • And I am going stand in the fact that I am a child of the living God.
  • In Jesus Holy name I pray.
  • Amen

All believers are now brothers and sisters in Christ.

Classic Christianity

The second caller, Joseph called for Laguna Niguel, California. He was having a problem with forgiveness. He was having a hard time forgiving others and wants to know, especially (as his understanding) that he needed to ask for forgiveness of God to get forgiven by God. He thinks he would not go to heaven unless he asks for forgiveness.

Bob clarifies this, “No, you will not go to heaven by asking for forgiveness.”

Bob goes on to explain what he means by that statement. Did anyone standing at the cross ask God to forgive them when Jesus said, “Father forgive them for they know not what they are doing?” No. Did anyone ask Jesus to go to the cross and take away the sins of the whole world? No. So, you don’t get saved by asking Him (God) to forgive you and to do what He has already done (at the cross). You are saved by faith and walking by faith by saying “thank you” for what He has already done.

So we still have this idea (incorrectly) that every time we sin we have to seek God’s forgiveness. But the fact is that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not counting anyone’s sins against them. He already did that on the cross. He did it once for all. That’s only half the gospel though.

The other half of the gospel is life.

Many people fail to see the full gospel of life, His life. It’s the resurrection of His Life that saves. It’s in Him that we receive that forgiveness. We are saved by the life of Christ, not His death.

Romans 5:10
10 For if, while we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life!

Now we are to forgive others as the Lord has forgiven us. This is a process. Don’t lose heart over forgiveness with others.

The third caller, Michael called from Santa Cruz, California. He was really blessed by the ministry. He had been to a number of conferences in the past. He called in regards to repentance and to think about the renewal of our mind.

Bob explained repentance is a change of mind about the person of Jesus. Bob explain a lot of thoughts in regards to various aspects of this. No one has repented of all of their sins (key point).

The world’s sin is unbelief in Jesus. The world bounces prayers off of the ceiling. Prayers are all over the place with unbelievers. There is no personal relationship with God in a lost person. They don’t have a clue.

Jesus went to the cross to take away the sins of the world. And through the resurrection, He now offers His life. We grow in Christ by Him growing us. Our minds are renewed by Truth. Natural man can not understand spiritual things.

1 Corinthians 2:14
14 The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit.
