God Set You Apart in Christ Jesus ~ He Made You Holy
~ If you are in Christ Jesus, and He is in You, then God has set you apart. You have been made holy by Him. It has nothing to do with what you do or don’t do. And we can’t make ourselves any holier than God has made us either. Though we see people out there today trying to make themselves holy. They even teach the lie of Satan of “practicing holiness” as though they think they can keep themselves holy in the sight of God. How is that any different than thinking we are like God ourselves? It goes back to the very beginning, of believing the lie, that “we can be as God.” And these people get on their high horses, thinking they are more holy than others. SMH, really? We have all seen and experienced people like this, and their pride oozes out of them, and everyone sees it, yet very few speak of it. To us who know the TRUTH we see it all the time. And we know God knows the heart of everyone. He knows what everyone is thinking. These people are lying to themselves and lying to those around them, and maybe most people are fooled into believing they are setting themselves apart with God, but they haven’t fooled God. And of course when they fail in their self righteousness of practicing holiness, of comparing themselves with others and with even comparing themselves with God, and they recognize their failure of living up to God’s standards, they simply run to God asking for his forgiveness over and over again, as though that lie of ongoing forgiveness is somehow going to make things right again with God. This is nothing more than vending machine forgiveness. They plop their coin requests in the vending machine called the forgiveness box asking for forgiveness and then they think God outputs forgiveness directly from their own personal vending machine. And at the end of the day, they pay for it, by saying to God, “I’ll do better next time.” And then they say their prayers, and many even repeat the Lord’s prayer over and over again and think God is going to be appeased with that too. This is living the life of lies. So now you have a bunch of major lies going on in the heart of Man all wrapped up in the religion of self. One lie, built on another lie, built on another lie. All of that is rubbish with God.
The cross changed everything. For God was in Christ Jesus, reconciling the world to Himself, not counting man’s sins against them. And He has entrusted that message to us to share with others. He reconciled everyone to himself, so be reconciled. Place faith in Him and what He did on the cross. This is the message we are to share with others. Share TRUTH. Jesus took away ALL your sins at the cross, once for ALL.
The Holy Spirit also testifies to us about this. First he says: “This is the covenant I will make with them after that time, says the Lord. I will put my laws in their hearts, and I will write them on their minds.” Then he adds: “Their sins and lawless acts I will remember no more.” And where these have been forgiven, sacrifice for sin is no longer necessary. Hebrews 10:17-18
“The law is only a shadow of the good things that are coming—not the realities themselves. For this reason it can never, by the same sacrifices repeated endlessly year after year, make perfect those who draw near to worship. Otherwise, would they not have stopped being offered? For the worshipers would have been cleansed once for all, and would no longer have felt guilty for their sins. But those sacrifices are an annual reminder of sins. It is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins.” Hebrews 10:1-4
~ “And that Christ Jesus, he said, If you want to see me, if you want to see the father, you look at me. If you’ve seen me, he said, you’ve seen the Father. So don’t be speculating anymore about what the father’s like are sitting there. Gee, I wonder what God’s like, he said, Look at me, and you’ll know. Why? Well, because you start looking at the spirit end of it, and it goes all over the place. So the Spirit of God lives in me. So if you want to know what the Spirit of God is, like, look at Me (Jesus) and you’ll know. You won’t know what God’s love is about. Look at Me, you’ll know. You want to know what God’s forgiveness is all about. Take a look at what I did on the cross. You’ll know, a man physical man that I could look at and see came to this earth not so that I can fantasize but so that I could walk in reality. Reality my friends is part of truth that sets you free. Reality is truth, fantasy, is error. And so he came to this earth. And he said, this law, these things over here, these performances, all of these ordinances, all of that type of stuff, they’re merely foreshadowings, they’re not real, real at all. The reality of all of that is going to come in Christ. I said, until the reality comes, I’m going to give you some of those things not so that you can be speculating and fantasy, but they are something you can see, you can see an animal has to die for your sins. So you can see the wages of sin is death. So you don’t have to fantasize, what that means you can see an animal will be killed, and that is a foreshadowing of the one who will die on the cross once and for all for all of you. So he gave us these things not to fantasize even back then but realities, but they weren’t the realities. The blood of bulls and goats could never what? Take away sin. But he said the blood of bulls and goats could cover sin. That’ll be a foreshadowing. But the blood of bulls and goats can’t take away sin. And is coming to this earth at a point in time, when God taking upon himself, you’re in my flesh and blood is going to go to that cross that he’s going to sacrifice not to cover sin, already had a system for that, but to take it away.” ~ Bob George

And that Christ Jesus, he said, If you want to see me, if you want to see the father, you look at me. And is coming to this earth at a point in time, when God taking upon himself, you’re in my flesh and blood is going to go to that cross that he’s going to sacrifice not to cover sin, already had a system for that, but to take it away.
And that’s what he’s talking about. It is impossible. He says for the blood of bulls and goes to take away sin. Therefore, when Christ not a fantasy A man came into this world. He said sacrifice and offerings you didn’t desire, but a body you prepared for me. With burnt offerings and sin offerings, you are not pleased. Then he said, Here I am, it is written about me in the scroll I have come to do Your will, oh, Lord. First, he said sacrifices and burnt offerings and sin offerings you did not desire nor were you pleased with them, although the law required them to be made. Because the law required them to be made as a foreshadowing of the reality that was coming. And had we not had those foreshadowings we wouldn’t have understood what he did. But he wasn’t pleased with them. Why wasn’t he pleased with them? Because it says it no one could ever draw nearer to God and perfect worship with a blood of bulls and goats. No one could ever draw on deer in a perfect relationship with a living God, when you had to keep dealing with sin over and over and over and over and over again, because of that searching question that would always be hitting in your mind. Have I done enough? Did I go to the confession booth enough? Have I walked enough aisles? I’ll say my first John one nine enough. What have I forgot one? I mean, after all, if I’m if, if I confess my sins, he’ll forgive. I gotta say, If I don’t, he won’t. And what if I forget one? And so it’s oh, well, Grace will cover that. Amazing wouldn’t cover the, in other words, Grace just covers your memory. And so your in to all of those type of questions that you guys have to ask. And I want to tell you something, it leads you into a point when you and I get ready to go to our deathbed. And we know that in a minute of moments or hours or whatever it might be that we’re going to be absent this body present with the Lord. It’s a thing that enables you to look forward to going instead of sitting in fear, wondering, did I do enough? Did I confess that? When he realized it’s all him, and none of me so the law required these things, but God could not be pleased with them because they would not accomplish and could not accomplish the ultimate purpose that God had for you and me. And that is a perfect relationship.
Then he said, Here I am, I’ve come to do Your will. He said it again. He sets aside the first the Old Covenant in order to establish the second the brand New Covenant. And by this will by this brand new will the last will went into effect on the day that Christ died. By that will brand new agreement. Christ died. It’s already out there. Now the issue is do you want to accept it? Or do you want to wallow in it? By this brand new will we who are in Christ have been made holy, through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once and for all. Oh, what’s being holy mean? That walk around with a nice kind of nutty grin on my face and glassy eyed and kind of walk around like this is that what being holy is? What is holy? Well it means to be set apart. What do you mean set apart? We are set apart from the world. How do you born into this world as a believer or an unbeliever? As an unbeliever. The minute you become a believer, what are you what are you? Well you’re set apart from the world. Because of why? Your relationship with Christ. When you come into this world And born in this room, do you have a relationship with Christ? Or don’t you? No. All of a sudden you come to Christ Jesus, you have a relationship with him, what are you? Well, you’re set apart. By what? Your relationship with God. And so the very moment that you and I stepped out of Adam into Christ, Christ stepped out of heaven into you and me, we became born again of the Spirit of God, he set you apart. It doesn’t mean it’s right now, it’s not talking about how you act or how you look. It’s talking about who you are. We’re talking here folks about identity as to who you are. I used to be single, now I’m married, that’s who I am a married man. And incidentally, bounce off of that for a minute. I was married for many years before I’d ever died to singleness. And you can be married to your wife and not die to singleness and not be alive to your marriage, you’re married, but you’re not alive to it. When you finally come to the point of realizing that I am married, and there’s a responsibility with that, and I’m glad that I’m going to stop thinking like a single person. When I’m single, I go where I want to do it I want to when I’m married, that’s not the case. Now we do what we want to now I got to cooperate. Now there’s an attitude of cooperation that has to take place because there’s no longer two but they’re one and the two have become one flesh and therefore we move in harmony with one another instead of independent from one another. But that takes a while to learn. And even though I was married, I thought like a single man so if I wanted to go to the bar go to the bar did when I was single. Well yeah she won’t like it that’s all right she’ll learn. After all I’m not going to be hen pecked. That was my attitude for years. Any woman going to dominate me. Well I want to go the bar, I’ll be at the bar. She didn’t like it. why tough. Kind, sweet attitude. Did a lot for a marriage too it was worser.
Now folks until Christ Jesus came to live with in my heart, that was my mindset. And I want to tell you some there when they think unnatural about that. That was as natural mindset is I can ever imagine. I saw no contradiction to that mindset at all. It made all the sense in the world to me. And if anyone want to sit down, argue with me on that mindset, I thought you were an idiot to argue with me on it. That was my mindset. Natural. When Christ comes to live within you, he begins peeling away that mindset. And you begin to understand, hold on a minute, I am not by myself. The two of us have been made one. And I am not there to do my thing. We are there to do our thing. And our thing is God’s thing. And he has set us apart for that purpose. Now folks, when we look at here, when Jesus said, Here I am I have come to do Your will. I’ve come to do Your will oh God. On the cross or prior to the cross in the Garden of Gethsemane, then that the Lord said, Lord, if there’s any way to take care of this thing, if there is any way to save humanity if there is any way to provide a forgiveness system whereby sins can be taken away rather than covered. If there’s a way to do that, do it. However not my will, but Thine be done. In other words, we know there isn’t. So let’s do it. Folks when you’re talking about not my will but thine be done not mine Lord but yours be done. When you start to think about it, the bottom line as to where God is heading us toward the mindset, the attitude your attitude should be like that of Christ Jesus, who though he were God did not consider equality with God, something we grasp but he humbled himself. What was the humbling of himself even to the point of death, not my will but Yours be done, Lord. It In other words, even though Christ Jesus was living in this body, his human body, never ceasing to be God could have behaved as God anytime he wanted to. But he chose not to. And even though Jesus never ever, ever was anything less than God, he behaved as if you were never anything more than a man in comparison to us who will never be anything more than a man strutting around here as if we’re nothing less than God. And Christ Jesus, although he was God behaved as a man and the way he did. So as you said, anything you see me do, it’s the Father telling me to do it. Anything you hear me say, it’s the Father telling me to say and incidentally as the Father sent me. So send I you, he taught us how to live.
Now, Christ Jesus didn’t have to struggle with that we do. Not my will, but yours be done. But folks, if we are in a situation of saying, I am indwelt, by the living Christ, I have been set apart I’m a new creation Christ Jesus is alive living in you and me which is our only hope of glory. Then he is pointing us toward an attitude of a continual attitude to the Lord, not my will, but yours be done. That’s where he’s pointing us. Not my will. but yours be done. We have temptations in life, don’t we? How many? Bunches tons of them constantly bombarding into your will, constantly attacking. Why? Well, because it says in the scripture that we have desires of the flesh, and we have desires of the Spirit. That means there’s two sets of desires in you and me. One is God’s desires. The other is flesh desires. And it says they are in total what? Conflict with one another.

Bob George 14:10
What the desires of the flesh are is in total conflict with what the desires of the Spirit are, the desires of the flesh, I’m gonna get my way. The desires of the flesh always is I’m gonna look out after number one. I want to take care of number one. After all, if I don’t look after me, who’s gonna look after me? Well, I understand that if you’re lost, because that’s a pretty true thing, because I guarantee it there aren’t too many other people gonna look after you. And so if you do not have a relationship with Christ and be able to depend on him, you better depend on yourself because there’s very few other people you can. And so your issue is I’m gonna look out for number one, I don’t care whether if there’s an advantage to be had, I’m gonna get it. There’s a deal. I’m gonna get it. I don’t care what you get or not. I’m gonna get that deal. For me. That’s flesh, self centered, egotistical flesh, and its desires are rampid, aren’t they? And so we have two sets of desires, the desires of the flesh. And we’ve got the desires of the Spirit of God that lives in us. Well, where does our attitude come in? When we’re meeting with these things? It’s that attitude of Lord, not my will, but yours be done. It isn’t the case of denying that those desires are there, they’re there, aren’t they? And they’re being bombarded constantly by the enemy of our soul. Now, how many times do we give into those things? Don’t tell me. Do y’all admit, Do you not give into the flesh, the desires of the flesh? When you give into the desires of the flesh, and that can be a little bit or a whole bunch or keep going on. When you give in to the desires of the flesh, do you not sit back and ask questions like What in the world is wrong with me? Why do I do this? What the heck’s wrong with me? Do you or not? Why? Well, why else do you think Christians ever go to counselors? What do you go to counselors for? A counselor, I got all together just want to talk to you, here’s 100 bucks. We go to counselors because of the attitude. The only reason the world would ever go for counseling, is because there’s something in the depths of our soul saying the things I want to do I don’t do and the things I don’t want to do I do them anyway. In other words, I don’t understand what I’m doing. Is that right or wrong? There’s something wrong here. I don’t understand it. And I sure need to understand it. And for some reason, we think that guy we’re talking to understands it. What we don’t know is he sitting there saying me too.
So that whole thing comes in to things of what to do I don’t do the things that don’t want to do I do them anyway. Now, folks, when we’re meeting into circumstances of life, we have constant choices that we’re dealing with in life. And the choice is, I can’t deny this desire the flesh, it’s there. I also can’t deny that as a child of God, there’s a desire of the Spirit of God living in me. And that’s also there. And my choice is, which one am I going to give into? Am I going to walk with an attitude, Lord, not my will, but yours be done? Or am I going to walk with an attitude, Lord, not your will, but the flesh is desired to be done? And there’s my choice.
Now, when you’re under legalism, and you’re under a punishment, penalty deal for giving into the flesh. If there’s a punishment over here for giving into the flesh from God, then my thing is, wonder wonder how much it is and wonder how bad it is? Because of it isn’t to bad it might be worth it. Now, right, sure, it’s worth it. And then we go ahead and give into the flesh and we find out. I don’t know where the punishment supposed to come, but I didn’t get it this time. So maybe I will get the next time. That felt pretty good. I think I’ll try it again.
Speaker 1 18:33
Let’s conclude side one. Now please stop your consent, turn it over and continue with side two.
Bob George 18:44
And there’s all kinds of mindsets that take place when all you’re dealing with is punishment. Or you want to Christ did with this whole deal. He said the punishment deals over, there is no condemnation for you who are in Christ Jesus. You can go out and give into the energy of that place if you want to you can go get into that place and you can go get drunk if you want to and everything else and I’m telling you there is no condemnation for me awaiting you. The condemnation for you doing that was put upon me 2000 years ago at the cross and that’s what I hung on a cross and died for. Well what do you say Well then what’s the motivation? Not my will but Yours be done. Why Lord do I want to do your will? Turn back with me to the book of Romans chapter six.
Now folks, he’s questions that Paul answers in six are coming to answer the natural question that man asked when he is confronted with the truth of the gospel, that it is finished, that sin has been dealt with once and for all, that he came to take away your sin, that there is no condemnation awaiting you who belong to Christ Jesus. Now by that one offering He made forever perfect in the sight of God, all of you whom he is made holy. When you are confronted with the finality and the totality of the forgiveness of God, you and I knowing full well, I still have conflicts in my flesh. And the things that I want to do I don’t do the things I don’t want to do I do anyway. And your natural question is, What is God doing when I do what I know I shouldn’t do? If there’s no condemnation? How could he just let that go? You’ll just go rampid well, you’ll just go out and just sit up a storm as if you weren’t under the law. But isn’t that true? That’s the questions that are being asked with, with with a grace to what do you say if there’s no condiment? What’s to keep you from doing that? Isn’t that true or not? In other words, from God’s what’s to keep you from doing that? What’s to keep you from giving sin a license? License isn’t the issue. Punishment is not the issue. Slavery is the issue. Now Paul’s going to deal with that. The question What shall we say then, you can just almost hear it sounds like our radio program? What are you saying him Bob? We should go on setting so Grace could abound? That’s what you always get. Yeah, same stuff. Go on sin, so grace may increase? Why do you ask that question? Because we’re too dumb to understand grace. Because we do not understand, nor have we settled the issue, it’s finished. Now if this question is asked, because we have settled issue and it’s finished and therefore say, now how do we handle this grace in which we live, that’s okay. Now, Paul says by no means in other words, is the issue of salvation so that we can go on sinning? Now his reason Christ came to die for you is so that you can keep on sinning? Now when I ask you something, let’s say that you could keep on sinning. Let’s say the lifestyle that you and I have led and still could lead today and some do. I want to ask you a question. That’s what he said was it is it beneficial? What does it do to you? Saying go and be a homosexual? Sure and get AIDS. Is it beneficial to you? Well, of course not. It’s perverted. You don’t need God to tell you that you know it yourself. You go out and get drunk is it gonna do you any good? No, you get hangovers you get enslaved by booze, you ruin your family. There’s no benefit to any of that any benefit to going out and running around committed adultultry? None at all you’re ruined your family deceived again thinking some body over there can do something that your wife can’t do. The fantasy deal that oh that whoo would that be something. Don’t you wonder how the same thing could be something? I mean there hadn’t been anything new added. What is that? Well it’s deception. Deception. And so that’s what he’s saying to it. Was there any benefit to that at all? No, it’s the very thing it made you some miserable to turn to Christ to begin with.
I mean, I don’t know about you but I came to Christ I came to Christ because that’s a sick of it couldn’t stand me. And all that stuff I thought was so much fun. One so much fun. Makes a slave out of you. So he is saying, wait a minute you died to sin. That does not mean you die the sinning, does it? So what is sin in the Bible? Unbelief. When you became a believer, will you ever be an unbeliever again? So you died to that being an unbeliever. In other words, the sin of unbelief you’ve idea that if you’re in Christ today, now you’ve got someone living in you with that you can believe in. You got another object to believe in except yourself, and the deception that is out there banging on you all the time. Is that right or wrong? So you’ve died to that you How could you live in a day more? In other words, you lived in this deception and unbelief. Why would you want to go live back in that again, you saw what a gotcha. We go through life that way, folks. The little kid comes into home, I just have that wagon. I’d be the happiest kid alive. You gave the wagon five minutes later is looking for something else. Oh, I get that bicycle. Oh, if I just get that tricycle, I’d be said you get the tricycle next door. Next week, Larry looking for a bicycle. And then you get the bicycle. And after while you’re looking for the car. And all of it. Oh, that little girl just liked me. I’d be so happy. She likes you for about a week and say I’m gonna get rid of her because this other one looks better. And you go on and on and on. Oh, if I could just make a million bucks, I’d be happy. And if you make a million, you’re looking for two. Oh, if I could just be a lawyer. Oh, oh. Oh, if I could just be a doctor. It’d be so wonderful. Then malpractice insurance and people suing you for looking cross-eyed and say brother in what it’s cracked up to be. Where all of our life we’re always saying, Oh, if if if were just always out there someplace. And we know that’s deception. They said if you know it’s deception, why do you still want to listen to it? Why do you still want to listen to it? You’ve got now something inside of you that is truth called Jesus. Why do you want to listen to that when you’ve got him? In other words, not my will. That is coming as a result of these desires of the flesh. That’s saying Bob, you want to do that, don’t you? You’re sitting there. And you say yeah, but my will but Yours be done.

John 3:3
3 Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.”
