Classic Christianity – Book of Hebrews P73 (02-28-24)
Jesus is NOT a Religion
~ Today most people have their own false Levitical priesthood system set up in their mind. They are working on their own perfection. They are not resting in the perfection of Jesus. They listen to the lies of Satan and the world, instead of listening to the Holy Spirit tell them TRUTH. They still have their confession booths and their virtual confession booths with promises to God that they are going to do better next time. They live a life of a Catholic/Protestant, going to the confession booth over and over again in their mind. They exchanged one lie (that of being Catholic) for another lie, that of being a Protestant and going to God over and over again asking for more forgiveness from God. If the Hebrews couldn’t attain perfection by law keeping, what makes us think that we can do it today? Most spit in the face of God, and call him a liar when people keep on asking for what he has already done. And even those that should know better, they are mum when it comes to sharing truth with others. They dismiss exposing the lies of Satan, and would rather not cause any waves. Well folks, Jesus didn’t come into the world to bring peace, he came into the world to bring a sword, the Truth of the word of God. None of the mega pastors and most of the minor pastors don’t teach truth. You can hear it in their prayers. You can hear it when they ask for more forgiveness. You can hear it in their preaching. It’s exposed for all to see. Yet why are many afraid to call people out on it? Hardly any teacher believes and certainly doesn’t teach that the sins of the world have been forgiven (past tense) at the cross. They falsely present the 1 John 1:9 passage as a proof of asking for forgiveness. News alert, the Greek word translated as “confess” means to agree with God, NOT ask for forgiveness. But most of you who are listening to this program on a regular basis know that. But I venture to say that most in the sound of your voice don’t know, “that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation.” 2 Corinthians 5:19 So let’s pray for boldness, just as Paul prayed for boldness to present the Gospel boldly as we ought. Ephesians 6:20
If perfection could have been attained through the Levitical priesthood—and indeed the law given to the people established that priesthood—why was there still need for another priest to come, one in the order of Melchizedek, not in the order of Aaron? Hebrews 7:11

~ “And so, again, religion comes in, does with it what they want to do with it. You can make scripture being a thing you want to if you take it out of context, and made this passage that is a phenomenal passage to show the supremacy of Christ and get off of the major, and major on a minor. It’s not talking about it at all, it’s talking about this fact that there was a king called Melchizedek, who was a king of Salem and a priest of God, Most High, no one knows where it came from. No one’s know where he was going didn’t have a genealogy that anyone could trace, no one ever heard of him before. But he was out of sync as far as what the Levitical priesthood was all about. And he was greater than Abraham. And someone on the order of Melchizedek is here, and he’s talking about Christ.” ~ Bob George

And then we come down and come in and say bring all your tithes to the storehouse if you heard that and if you don’t you’re robbing God no rob God says so right there Malachi. Well, what are you doing over there? Thought you were under New Covenant. Gonna bring tithes to a storehouse up below. Just bring all kinds of food stuff in here and dump it ao high you couldn’t even see this thing in here. Call this the storehouse. It’s in the storehouse, the building.
And so, again, religion comes in, does with it what they want to do with it. And someone on the order of Melchizedek is here, and he’s talking about Christ.
Now, let’s go down to the seventh chapter in verse 11. And we’ll pick up there. Now, after talking about all of these things that are greater, are greater. Christ is greater than this Christ is greater than his Christ is greater than this. It’s for the purpose of getting your dependency off of all these other things. I don’t want your dependency upon a ministry. I don’t want you to dependency on People to People. I don’t want you to dependency upon the Baptist denomination or the Catholic denomination or the Presbyterian denomination or the Plymouth Brethren. And I’ll miss some and thereby glad to do I mean, I get people get mad will mention those names. Oh, why they get mad when we mentioned there name. I don’t get mad when I mention our name. But if you get mad because I’m mentioning your name or something wrong with you, and you better deal with it. And what’s wrong with you is you’ve got a misplaced dependency. You got to pride problem that I’m a member of the Presbyterian Church, well, bully for you. That’s your identity. Folks, if my identity is in being I’m a Baptist or I’m a Presbyterian, I’m a Methodist, I have a misplaced dependency. The only dependency that God ever wanted us to have is on him. And the only identity that ever wanted us to have is that of being a child of the living God. Who are you? I’m a child of God. Now I can be a child of God, it happens to go over to a Presbyterian Church and be a child of God, it goes to Baptist Church. Don’t ever call me a Baptist or Presbyterian or People People. I’m not, that is not my identity. I am not a Baptist, I’m not a Presbyterian, I’m not a Methodist. I’m not a Catholic, I’m a child of living God, please don’t insult me by calling me one of those things. They’re man made. And God didn’t even have anything with making them. Now, at least God had something to do with making the temple. So I understand these people’s false identity, their identity, I can understand that God made that he didn’t have a thing to do if these things were about. That’s all man made.
Now, even with the things he was about, he says in the 11th, verse, If perfection, could have been attained through the Levitical priesthood, for on the basis of the law, it was given to the people. In other words, the Levitical priesthood wasn’t something we made up, God initiated that. But he said, For on the basis of the law, it was given to the people. But if it could, if the law that was given by God to the people could enable you to be to gain perfection, then why is there still a need for another priest to come? One on the order of Melchizedek, not on the order of Aaron for when there is a change of the priesthood, there must also be a change in the law. If you’re going to change the priesthood, then you’re going to have to change the law. And there has been a change of priesthood it’s talking about, no longer the Levites no longer Levitical priesthood, but one on the order of Melchizedek. In other words, Christ. He of whom these things are said belong to a different tribe. In other words, Jesus and no one from that tribe ever serve at the altar. Jesus came out broad on a Judah no one from there ever served at the altar. For it is clear that our Lord descended from Judah and in regard to that tribe, Moses said nothing about priests. And what we have said is even more clear if another priest like Melchizedek occurs, one who has become a priest not on the basis of regulation or of ancestry, but on the basis of the power of an indestructible life. He lives forever. For it is declared you’re a priest forever on the order of Melchizedek. Now he said the former, that regulation was set aside, because it was weak and useless. And then again says, For the law made nothing perfect, but who gave the Law? God. But did it make anyone perfect? Of course not that why that’s why it was weak and useless. It’s the same thing. Paul said, there’s nothing wrong with the law. It’s holy, and it’s good. But when it flows through me, it kills me. So it’s useless to me. What was intended to bring righteousness brings death to me, it’s useless to be. So the former regulation was set aside, it says it was weak and useless. And a better hope is introduced by which we draw near to God. Want to draw near to God, you never got to do it through the law, you can’t. So God introduced something brand new, whereby the result of that is we can draw nearer to God, why do you do all of this? Why did Christ come to the earth? Why was the temple destroyed? Why did all of these happen? So that he could provide a way for you and for me, to draw nearer to God. That’s the reason so that we can know our God. Now is that love? That’s love. God looked down at his creations that I want you to draw near to me, I want you to be my friend. I don’t want you be scared of me. I want you draw near to me. I don’t want you to be walking around with a guilty conscience, I’ll provide forgiveness total, take them away. So that’s what? You can draw near to me. What do you think that I’m going to become a man and walk on this earth and, and take your sins upon myself and take them away at the Cross once and for ALL, so that you can draw nearer to me, so that you can walk boldly into the throne of grace, calling him Daddy, Father. That’s why I’m doing all these things, so that you can draw near to me, I’ve drawn near to you so that you can draw near to me. How come? That’s my desire for you to draw near to Him. That’s my desire. He says, I want to be your friend. I want a relationship with you. I want to love you.
Now it says this new hope that was introduced was not without an oath, others became priests without any oath. But he became a priest with an oath when God said to Him, the Lord has sworn and will not change his mind you are a priest forever. Because of this oath, Jesus has become the guarantee of a better covenant. Now, there had been many of those priests, since death prevented them from continuing in office. That cracks me up. They said, a death kind of prevented this guy from going on. He had been a priest forever, but death prevented it. But because Jesus lives forever, an indestructible life. He has a permanent priesthood, not a priest, it’s going to come and go, permanent. Therefore, he is able to save completely. Folks, that word completely there translated in the NIV means forever. He is able to save forever. How long is your salvation? Forever, from the day that you came to the Son. And if you have the Son, you have what? Life. The very day that you came to the Son and received life and were saved, how long were you saved? Forever. That’s why you’re called you are complete in Christ. It’s the same as saying you are forever in Christ. You are completed and that means you’re not going to add to it or subtract to it. It means, it’s forever. That kind of blows the idea that you can be saved and then lose your salvation doesn’t it. A person who believes you can lose your salvation that know what salvation is to begin with. It’s not because you’re stupid. It’s because many times we’ve been taught that way. Salvation is life. To be saved is to be saved by the life of Christ. Salvation is not getting your sins forgiven. Everyone’s sins were forgiven at the cross all the world sins were forgiven. When we were yet enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of his Son. That’s the whole world when we were enemies that’s lost. The whole world sins were reconciled to God through the death of his Son, and how much more having been reconciled shall we be saved by his what? His life You’re not saved to the death of Christ, we’re saved for the life of Christ. Sins were forgiven for the whole world. So that raised from the dead, he can cure the wages of sin, which is what? Death. And the only solution to death is life. And that’s why I said, I came at You Might Have Life. So we come to Christ for life. Thanking him for what he did at the cross and receiving life, whose life? Christ’s life, living in you, your only hope of glory. Now, when that occurs, you have been saved completely. He’s the one who saves completely, all of those who come to God through Him. Again, folks, we talked about this last week, this isn’t one of those things where God just said, I’m just gonna find some guy down there and call him Jesus, and then say, there’s no other name under heaven whereby you must be saved. I mean, if you don’t come to this guy over here, that’s it. And we talk around, say, well come to Jesus come to Jesus. And we don’t know what Jesus is who he is what he did, or anything else. God doesn’t work that way. We come to God through his Son because his Son is the only one who paved the way for us to come to God. Christ Jesus did something, he came to this earth to do something for you and me, that no other man on the face of this earth could do. He came to this earth to do what a Mohammed could not do, what a Buddha could not do, any religious founder could not do, no denomination can do, no priests can do. No prophet can do. He came to do something, no one could do but God and that is to provide a sacrifice of such a quality, that it was greater than all of the vileness of the sin of the entire world. And only the blood of God was more precious than the vileness of the sins of the world. No one else could do that.

Bob George 13:26
An indestructible life raised from the dead forever, so that that life could be given to you and me and raise us from the dead. No one else could raise you from the dead. Buddha can’t raise you from the dead, Confucius can’t late raise you from the dead. Mohammed cannot raise you from the dead a Baptist can’t raise your from a dead a Catholic can’t raise you from the dead. Nobody could raise you from the dead. Only Christ could raise you from the dead. The only one with the indestructible life is the only one that could give you and me an indestructible life. There was no other indestructible life available to be given to any of us except his. So it’s not just come to Jesus. And just because it’s a name, this little baby born in a manger. It’s come to Christ, you’re coming to God through Christ. He is able to save completely those who come to God through Him. We come to God through Him so that we can draw nearer to God, in him. And so it is not just the fact that there was a name out there some kind of a narrow, dogmatic thing that we kind of give the impression where you just gotta come through Jesus. And if you don’t believe in Jesus, you’re going to hail and everybody’s going to hail and we’re going to hail don’t blame Jesus. Nobody knows why I’m supposed to believe in him. No one knows for sure what he did or anything else but so well, and people come along say, Well, that sounds stupid. That did sound stupid. If you don’t understand than what Christ came to do, that you are drawing you are coming to God through his Son, Jesus Christ was only one way to God. That’s what he said, there’s only one way I am the way to what? To God. When you and I are coming for salvation, we are coming to God through Jesus. It enables us to draw nearer to God. Christ is the only one who could provide that for us. No one else could provide it for us. It’s not the case of which one do you like multiple guests test or something which be like booty like this will take take your choice. Did Buddha die on a cross for you did Mohammed die on a cross for you? Did any of those people die for your sins? Could they have? Couldn’t even die for their own. Could a priest know? So that’s what he’s talking about here. It’s the one who saves completely.
Now such a high priest meets our need one who is holy, he’s blameless. He’s pure he set apart from sinners exalted above the heavens. Unlike other priests, he doesn’t need to offer sacrifices day after day first for his own sins. And then for the sins of the people. He sacrifice for their sins once and for all, when he offered himself for the law appoints a High Priest as high priests, men who are weak. The law appoints we appoint pastors, preachers who are week, that the oath which came after the law, appointed the Son, who has been made perfect forever, it’s only Christ. of folks there again, we have taken this whole deal and the sacrificial system was there. And a part of the law was the temple worship, and going to the temple and going to get your sins forgiven at the temple. Go to get your sins forgiven at the altar. It’s gone. If it wasn’t, by the time that was written, it was within a few years after it was written. It’s gone. What are you gonna do then? Do you ever wonder how did you get forgiven today? If you’re still followers of Moses, how do you get forgiven? I mean there isn’t any temple. How would you get forgiven so that the only way you can say is I just never said? Say let me interview your husband or your wife? Yeah, but I do more good deeds I do bad. That’s about the only thing you could come up and rationalize with because there’s no way to get forgiveness. I mean, what happened? All of a sudden, you needed forgiveness, the Day of Atonement. And then 70 ad came to the temple was destroyed, and it was no more temple. There was no more sacrificial system, how did you get forgiveness all of a sudden? Don’t you need it anymore? The answer that is, No, you don’t. That’s what Jesus came for. If you don’t know that, how are you going to plug into that?
Now, chapter eight. The point we’re saying is this. We do not have such a high priest who sat down at the right hand, we do have such a high priest, who sat down at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in heaven, and serves and who serves in the sanctuary, a true tabernacle set up by the Lord, not by man. In other words, in heaven. Every high priest is appointed to offer both gifts and sacrifices. And so it was necessary for the one, this one also to have something to offer. If he were on earth, he would not be a priest. For there, there are already men who offer the gifts prescribed by the law. They serve at a sanctuary that is a copy or a shadow of what is in heaven. So all of this stuff going on down here is a shadow of what’s going on up there. It was just a shadow. This is why Moses was warned when he was about to build the tabernacle. See to it, that you make everything according to the pattern shown you on the mountain mountain, the pattern, who’s shown to by God, this is a pattern what’s in heaven. But the ministry that Jesus has received is as superior to theirs, as the covenant of which he is a mediator is superior to the old one. And it’s founded on a better promise. For had there been nothing wrong with the first covenant, no place would have been sought for another. If there was no fault with the Old Covenant, he would not have had to have come and died in order to usher in a New Covenant.
Was there anything wrong with the covenant? Well, look at the next verse, But God found fault with the covenant. Is that what it says? No, he said he found fault with who? With the people with you and me. Nothing wrong with the covenant. We just couldn’t do it. Again, same thing Paul said, nothing wrong with the law. But when it flows through me, it kills me. How come? I can’t, I can’t do it. The things I want to do, I don’t do the things that don’t want to do. I do anyway. I just can’t do it. And so something brand new was introduced. The time is coming, declares the Lord, where I will make a New Covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah.
Now, what I’d like for us to do is to turn back a minute, about in the middle of your Bibles, we got both of them to Hosea. The word of the LORD that came to Hosea son of Beeri during the reigns of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz and Hezekiah, kings of Judah, and during the reign of Jeroboam son of Jehoash king of Israel. When the Lord began to speak through Hosea, the Lord said to him, go take yourself and adulterous wife and children of unfaithfulness because the land is guilty of the vilest adultery in departing from the Lord. This is a picture of departing from the Lord. I came to you I appeared to you I blessed you and you’re going to other gods. And so he married Gomer, didn’t have any trouble finding one of those. He married Gomer. That’s not pile, it’s a daughter of Diblaim. And she conceived and bore him a son. Then the LORD said to Hosea, “Call him Jezreel, because I will soon punish the house of Jehu for the massacre at Jezreel, and I will put an end to the kingdom of Israel. In that day I will break Israel’s bow in the valley of Jezreel. Gomer conceived again and gave birth to a daughter. Then the LORD said to Hosea, “Call her Lo-Ruhamah (which means “not loved”), for I will no longer show love to Israel, that I should at all forgive them. Yet I will show love to the house of Judah, and I will save them not by bow, sword or battle, or by horses or horsemen, but by the Lord their God. After she had weaned Lo-Ruhamah, Gomer had another son. Then the LORD said, “Call him Lo-Ammi (which means “not my people”), for you are not my people, and I am not your God. So you got one group that means not loved and the other not my people, northern, southern Israel. Yet the Israelites will be like the sand on the seashore which cannot be measured or counted. In a place where it is said to them, You are not my people. In the place, listen to this, where it was said to them, You are not my people. They will be called sons of the living God. That the people of Judah and the people of Israel will be re-united. And they will appoint one leader and will come up from the land for great will be the day of Jezreel.
Now turn turned back again to this prophecy or to this verbiage in Hebrews. The time is coming declares the LORD will I will make a New Covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah. What’s going to happen to the house of Judah in the house of Israel, what’s going to happen to those people someday? Why they’re going to come together and be reunited. And they’re going to be called what? Sons of the living God. How they got to become a son of the living God? By becoming a Son of the living God, how they going to do that? By coming to God through Jesus Christ. Will that happen someday? Absolutely. Folks, you’re going to see something here. When you’re talking about a New Covenant. When you’re talking from God’s vantage point to the Hebrew, you’re talking about to the house of Judah. And to Israel, you’re talking about a covenant that was given to them. And now there’s going to be a New Covenant, and the old is disappearing and will soon become obsolete. In other words, I got something, I’m gonna give you something new, it’d be like, You got a coat there. But I’m gonna give you a new coat. So you can take that one off and pitch it away, because I got a new one for you. Now that’s one group. Then there’s another group over here that’s naked. And it says, I got a coat for you. Now what would that coat be to you? That’d be a new coat. It’s not a new coat. It like yours because you already had an old one. And I’m giving you a new one same pitch it out away and I’m giving you a new one. You’ve never had one before. But you still got a new one. Now, if the coat was made the same place by the same person and the same design and everything else both of you had in essence have the same coat, wouldn’t you? That’s the New Covenant. There is a New Covenant that was made by God to all men. To the Hebrew, it was a New Covenant as it related to the Old Covenant saying the old one’s disappearing and will soon fade away pitch it away. To use the Gentile it is a New Covenant. You’ve never been under one before, but it’s the same covenant. And so it is universal in scope.

3 Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.”
