The Details Matter: The Apostle Paul Was a Hebrew
~ “Watch out for those dogs, those workers of evil, those mutilators of the flesh! For it is we who are the circumcision, we who worship by the Spirit of God, who glory in Christ Jesus, and who put no confidence in the flesh— though I myself could have such confidence.
If anyone else thinks he has grounds for confidence in the flesh, I have more: circumcised on the eighth day, of the people of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin; a HEBREW of HEBREWS ; as to the law, a Pharisee; as to zeal, persecuting the church; as to righteousness in the law, faultless. Philippians 3:2-6
Most gloss over the details in the Word of God. Paul was a HEBREW. And we have all been guilty of overlooking the details in the word of God on this matter. Reminder, Bob said, “don’t believe anything I say, I could be wrong, check it out in the word of God for yourself.” So why ought we to use the word, “Hebrew,” instead of the word Jew? Because it is biblical to use the word HEBREW. And most are surprised to find out that the word Jew is NOT even in the original language of the written word of God. It was an English word added in the 18th century, to replace the Hebrew and Greek words that actually described a different group of people. The made-up word ‘Jew’ was added to the scriptures and replaced the original words Yahudah and Ioudaios. A Jew is not Yahudah (Yahudiym-plural) or Ioudaios. Jews are Canaanite-Edomite Idumeans. The Jews themselves didn’t even consider themselves Hebrews or Israelites until recent times. Even when you look at those original words in the Greek and Hebrew text, it’s obvious to the most casual observer that the words themselves don’t align to be the modern word ‘Jew’ unless of course they tell you it does based on the teaching of Man.
And more food for thought to consider is, that when the temple was destroyed, ALL records of who was a Hebrew/Israelite were also destroyed at the time. That’s a key point for today. So no one can actually trace back their lineage, no matter what they say. Yet we have a group of people that pretend that they can.
So what does that mean for today? Most have no idea who the true Hebrews/Israelites are. And Jesus was a Hebrew/Israelite, not a Jew.
Furthermore, when you look at who the TRUE worshippers of Jesus are today, and who are those that dismiss and speak hatred of everything related to Jesus, then you will have a good idea who are the true Hebrew/Israelites of today and who are NOT. So pay attention to the details today, for the details matter in everything. And lean not on your own understanding, but take everything to the word of God in prayer. Ask for wisdom directly from God.
By the way, Jesus had something to say, that we ought to pay attention to, when speaking of an infiltration group of people way back then. “You are of your father the devil, and you desire to do the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and has not stood in the truth, because there is no truth in him. Whenever he might speak falsehood, he speaks from the own; for he is a liar, and the father of it.” John 8:44
…..
And a certain ruler asked Him, saying, “Good Teacher, having done what, will I inherit eternal life?”
And Jesus said to him, “Why do you call Me good? No one is good, except God alone.
~ “Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.” 1 John 5:12
~ Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life; the one believing in Me, even if he should die, he will live. And everyone living and believing in Me shall never die, to the age. Do you believe this?” John 11:25,26
—
We who are strong ought to bear with the shortcomings of the weak and not to please ourselves. Each of us should please his neighbor for his good, to build him up. For even Christ did not please Himself, but as it is written: “The insults of those who insult You have fallen on Me.” For everything that was written in the past was written for our instruction, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures, we might have hope.
Now may the God who gives endurance and encouragement grant you harmony with one another in Christ Jesus, so that with one mind and one voice you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring glory to God. For I tell you that Christ has become a servant of the circumcised on behalf of God’s truth, to confirm the promises made to the patriarchs, so that the Gentiles may glorify God for His mercy. As it is written:
“Therefore I will praise You among the Gentiles;
I will sing hymns to Your name.”
Again, it says:
“Rejoice, O Gentiles, with His people.”
And again:
“Praise the Lord, all you Gentiles,
and extol Him, all you peoples.”
And once more, Isaiah says:
“The Root of Jesse will appear,
One who will arise to rule over the Gentiles;
in Him the Gentiles will put their hope.”
Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you believe in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
I myself am convinced, my brothers, that you yourselves are full of goodness, brimming with knowledge, and able to instruct one another. However, I have written you a bold reminder on some points, because of the grace God has given me to be a minister of Christ Jesus to the Gentiles in the priestly service of the gospel of God, so that the Gentiles might become an offering acceptable to God, sanctified by the Holy Spirit.
Therefore I exult in Christ Jesus in my service to God. I will not presume to speak of anything except what Christ has accomplished through me in leading the Gentiles to obedience by word and deed, by the power of signs and wonders, and by the power of the Spirit of God. So from Jerusalem all the way around to Illyricum, I have fully proclaimed the gospel of Christ.
In this way I have aspired to preach the gospel where Christ was not known, so that I would not be building on someone else’s foundation. Rather, as it is written:
“Those who were not told about Him will see,
and those who have not heard will understand.”
That is why I have often been hindered from coming to you.
But now that there are no further opportunities for me in these regions, and since I have longed for many years to visit you, I hope to see you on my way to Spain. And after I have enjoyed your company for a while, you can equip me for my journey.
Now, however, I am on my way to Jerusalem to serve the saints there. For Macedonia and Achaia were pleased to make a contribution for the poor among the saints in Jerusalem. They were pleased to do it, and indeed they owe it to them. For if the Gentiles have shared in their spiritual blessings, they are obligated to minister to them with material blessings.
So after I have completed this service and have safely delivered this bounty to them, I will set off to Spain by way of you. I know that when I come to you, I will come in the fullness of the blessing of Christ.
Now I urge you, brothers, by our Lord Jesus Christ and by the love of the Spirit, to join me in my struggle by praying to God for me. Pray that I may be delivered from the unbelievers in Judea, and that my service in Jerusalem may be acceptable to the saints there, so that by God’s will I may come to you with joy and together with you be refreshed.
The God of peace be with all of you. Amen. Romans 15:1-33
Pray to God:
Do you really want to know the WHOLE Truth of what is going on today?
“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened to you.” Matthew 7:7
Lord Jesus, teach me the truth of the world today and give me the wisdom to know the truth and identify the lies of the devil. Thank you God.”
~ “Now I want us to go over to Acts 20, if you’ll turn to Acts 20, because this is where this whole story picks up. He’s saying to writing to the Romans, saying, This is what my plan is, is to come to you. He had announced this to the people in Ephesus, and then in Acts 20, verse 22 and now being compelled by the Spirit, he said, so the Spirit of God is compelling me to go to Jerusalem, not knowing what will happen to me there, but he knew whatever happened was not going to be good from a physical standpoint. I only know that in every city the Holy Spirit warns me that prison and hardship are facing me. So every place Paul went, he was being warned by the Spirit what was up ahead. Now, guys, when we get warned on something, our normal deal is stay away from it, isn’t it? God is warning me not to go there. In this case, God was warning him to go there, but he was warning him that when you do, you’re going to face trials and tribulation. So you can’t always say that if God is warning you not to do something that he’s telling you not to do it, because it may be that that’s exactly what he’s telling you to do, but he’s telling you so that you’ll have realistic expectation when you go you’re going to run into trouble there, but fear not. I’ve overcome the world.” ~ Bob George

Well, let’s turn to the book of Romans in the 15th chapter, we’re just going to review for a little bit about what we talked about last week, and then we’ll go on from there. This book of the Romans was written from Ephesus, as Paul had met with the Ephesians church and was writing to the church of Rome. Once again, guys, we need to keep deeply into our minds that the apostle Paul was Hebrew. All of the original followers of Christ were Hebrew. Jesus was Hebrew. When you hear about anti semitism and this type of thing, as it related back to those days. There is no such thing, because you’re not talking about anti semitism. You’re talking about Hebrews against Hebrews. You were talking about Jesus and his followers, which were all Hebrews, against the establishment of the Pharisaical high priest and the traditions that were so strict and mean that whenever anyone came up opposing to them and their interpretation of the word of God, that they became an enemy, not an enemy, of the Hebrew, an enemy of a Hebrew, within a Hebrew, if you know what I mean. And so anti semitism back in those days, was not in existence from the Hebrew people as it related to Jesus, because all of them were Hebrew.
And you have many people today, and I’ve talked to people today who are members, as an example of the conservative Jewish religion, not the Orthodox. And you and I’ve said to them that you are against the Orthodox, or you wouldn’t be a conservative. The Orthodox are very strict. They’re the followers of all of the rules and regulations and all of the laws and all of this type of thing, and they’re law keepers, just as hypocritical as they were back in those days when Jesus called them white war sepulchers. You clean yourself up on the outside, but on the inside, all of us have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Have we not Hebrew and Gentile alike, and so if you were for the Orthodox Jew, you wouldn’t be a conservative. That doesn’t mean you’re anti semitic. It just means I don’t like your religion and I don’t like their religion either. I don’t like the Jewish Orthodox and I don’t like the gentile Orthodox, either one of them are people who are trying to keep a law that they cannot keep. Both of them are engaged in the promotion of something that God says you can’t keep, and that’s the reason I had to come and save you. If you were capable of keeping these things, you wouldn’t have need me. And so we have to be against this religious form if we’re going to be for Christ, Jesus. Because Christ was against that. He came to fight it. He came to go up against it and say, You’re a hypocrite. You’re clean on the outside. You make all of these outward signs and all these outward motions, but in the inside, you’re dirty. And that was his mission, while he was here on this earth, as he walked on this earth for some 33 years, was to reveal what true righteousness is. And it wasn’t them. That true righteousness was Jesus. And when you weigh your righteousness up next to Jesus, I got news for you, you’re going to come out second best. Now you can look righteous up against another person, and you can say, Well, I haven’t done this, and I haven’t done this, and I haven’t done this and I haven’t done this, up against this person who has done this and has done this, and I’m more righteous than they are. You can compare yourself that way if you want to, but it ain’t going to do any good from God’s vantage point, because he looks at you and says, None is righteous. No, not one. And so you’ve got self righteousness, which God hates, and then you have Christ’s righteousness, which God blessed.
And that’s why Paul was able to say that I that I consider all of these things, all of this religious thing that I’ve been through, and all these rituals that I’ve been through, I consider them as dung compared to that of knowing Christ, that all of that stuff is nonsense compared to that of knowing Christ. Now again, folks, you’re not going against traditions. You’re going against if you think your traditions are being blessed by God. I mean, if you want to celebrate Christian or Christmas or Halloween or Hanukkah or anything else, you can do any of those that you want to, but don’t do it thinking God is blessing you because of it, because the only thing that God blesses, he says, Is faith expressing itself through love, and that without faith, it’s impossible to please God. And the only thing that God’s interested in is your faith, in the object of your faith, who is, what is, who? Christ, Jesus. And so you’re not talking about being anti Hebrew, because anyone who’s a born again Christian, you can’t be anti Hebrew. You love the Hebrews. You love Jesus. He’s your Savior. He’s your Lord. He was Hebrew. I love the Apostle Paul with all my heart. I can’t wait to meet him, because he’s Hebrew, tenacious as can be Hebrew. Child of God, and I too, am a child of God, and I’m a Gentile. And the big thing that has taken place down through the ages is in the early church, all of the early Christians were Hebrews, and then when the gospel went through the Gentiles and the Gentiles accepted the gospel more rapidly than the Hebrews because of their tradition. Why then it suddenly has emerged as a kind of a Gentile religion? Well, that nothing could be farther from the truth. It’s not a Gentile religion. It’s a religion to the whole world. It’s a religion of God reaching out to the entire world, Hebrew and Gentile, slave and free, male and female, child and adult, saying, Come unto me, all of you who labor and are heavy laden, and I’ll give you rest and peace for your soul. It’s an open invitation to the world to come and to be saved. It’s not a Gentile religion. It’s not a Hebrew religion. It’s a relationship with God. And so we have to get these things in our heads continually straight before we’re going to understand these scriptures.
And so Paul was writing to the believers as a Hebrew, the believers in Rome, most of whom in the Western world, were Gentiles. And so he says in verse 22 here that he was hindered from coming to you, but now there’s no place he says for me to work in these other regions where I’ve worked. Because he said, I don’t want to go in and build upon someone else’s foundation. I want to go in where there is no religion, so to speak, and give them the good news of the gospel, so he said. And since I’ve been longing for these many years to see you, I plan to do so when I go to Spain. I hope to visit you while passing through, and to have you assist me on my journey there after I’ve enjoyed your company for a while. And now, however, I’m on my way to Jerusalem in the service of the saints there for Macedonia and Achaia were pleased to make a contribution for the poor and the saints in Jerusalem. So the Jerusalem church was having difficulty, and so Paul made a collection from these, basically Gentile churches in Macedonia, that’s upper Greece, and Achaea, and he was bringing that money to the saints of Jerusalem. They were pleased to do it. He said that indeed they they felt like they owe it to them, for if the Gentiles have shared in the Hebrew spiritual blessings, they owe it to the Hebrews to share with them their material blessings. And so we have, first of all, the Gospel came through Jesus, who was Hebrew, the gospel was presented to the apostles and to the prophets and to all the people who were Hebrew. And so that’s where the gospel came. So he said, we as Gentiles, we kind of owe a debt to them. Because basically, I heard about the gospel because the Hebrews told it to me. Where did I read about the things I know from Paul Hebrew. So we’ve got an obligation there. So he said that that’s the way they felt about it, that we kind of owe this for we’ve shared in the Hebrew spiritual blessing, so we ought to share in their material blessings. So after I’ve completed the task and have made sure that they have received this fruit. In other words, when they’ve received the offering that was made, I’ll go to Spain and visit you on the way. I know that when I come to you, I will come in full measure of the blessing of Christ. And I urge you, brothers, by our Lord Jesus Christ and by the love of the Spirit, to join me in my struggle by praying to God for me. So he is saying, join me in my struggle, that I that you’re that you have if you stop to think about what the Apostle Paul had to go through just to get the gospel to us. He said, Pray for me. Pray that I may be rescued from the unbelievers in Judea, and that my service in Jerusalem might be acceptable to the saints there.
Now God that Paul was not unaware of the fact that he was an enemy in Jerusalem. Jerusalem was the seed bed of the orthodoxy. Was the seed bed of the Pharisees and the Sadducees, the seed bed of this is our religion. And this cult over there, this Jesus cult over there, is contrary to our traditions, and that’s what they were after, Paul, for you are speaking out against our law, our law, as if it was theirs and our traditions. And so Paul knew that when he went into this camp, he was in enemy territory, not from all people, but from the leadership, from the political aspect of the Hebrew world. And so he’s praying, he’s saying that you’ll be rescued from these unbelievers. Now He called these Hebrew people unbelievers, who were the unbelievers in? Jesus. They were not believers in Jesus. They said they believed in God. But Jesus said, remember when he said to them, you say that you believe in Moses, but if you believed in Moses, you’d believe in me, because Moses wrote about me. So in essence, you don’t even believe in Moses. You’re just giving lip service to your belief system, just like we Gentiles do. So don’t ever look and say, well, those Hebrews, we do the same thing. And people that don’t know the Lord do the same thing. They just build on their own traditions. That’s all they care about. So he prayed that his service in Jerusalem may be acceptable to the saints there, so that by God’s Will I may come to you with joy and together with you to be refreshed, and the people of peace be with you all. Amen.
Now I want us to go over to Acts 20, if you’ll turn to Acts 20, because this is where this whole story picks up. And so when you read these things, you realize that he says, I consider my life worth nothing to me. Paul is saying, I know this danger is up ahead of me, but I consider my life worth nothing to me, If only I may finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me, the task of testifying the gospel of God’s grace, and basically to the Gentile world, but also to the Hebrews, but basically to the Gentiles. Paul is saying, I’m not worried about my life here. The only thing that I’m concerned about at all is that this race that I’m in, I’ll be able to finish it. That’s all I’m concerned about. What happens after that? What happens in the meantime is irrelevant to me. I just want to finish the task. I want to finish the race that he said, finish the race that. And what is the task testifying to the gospel of God’s grace.
And guys, how many times do we hear all you guys just preach cheap grace, as if Grace could cost a penny. This is what Paul preached. Paul didn’t preach the law. He preached the law to the lost, because that’s who the law was for, is the lost. But he preached grace, and that’s what he said, I my life, I consider it worth nothing to me. The only thing I’m concerned about is completing the task of testifying to the gospel of God’s grace, the gospel of his grace, the gospel of God’s mercy, of his kindness, of His goodness. To us, we had no option, folks, except to extend grace to us, because there’s not a one of us who could work hard enough to find ourselves acceptable in the sight of God. There’s no one that can clean yourself up and make yourself good enough to be acceptable in the sight of God, he had no option except to say, I have one goal, and that’s to testify to the gospel of God’s grace. And there’s many people who just don’t under want to understand this. They still want to say, Yeah, but there is no buts in grace. He’s not a billy goat. It’s just grace. Now what you do with that grace is up to you, but don’t negate the grace of God because of your preconceived notions about the grace of God. The grace of God doesn’t free you to go live like the devil. It frees you to be led into a path of righteousness. That’s what Titus says, is it not? It’s the grace of God that teaches us to say what? No to unrighteousness and to live self controlled, upright lives in this present generation, while we wait for the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ. It isn’t the law of God that teaches you to say no to unrighteousness. The Law of God shows you you are unrighteous. Grace teaches you how to say no to it. How long does it take the grace of God to teach you and me to say no to all unrighteousness? As long as it takes. For me, over 70 years. How about for you? When Will God finish teaching you to say no to unrighteousness? When you’ve been taught, that’s when he’ll quit teaching you. And when you’ve been taught, then you’ll say grace taught me that until that you’re not taught, until that His provision will be there every day of your life. He will never stop teaching you. He’ll never stop being there for you. He’ll never stop his work of teaching you to say no to unrighteousness. Never will he ever stop that. He’ll never stop it till the day you die and you’re absent from the body and present with the Lord.
And then this flesh of ours, that’s our conflict point, will be disappeared, gone, and we’ll be in his presence, seeing him as he is, and become like him. That’s going to be a good day. It real good day when we can shed this flesh of ours, where it says, Even all nature groans for its redemption, and you and I struggle. Do we not in this body of ours, we struggle between right and wrong? Do we not? We know what right and wrong is, but do we not struggle with it, folks? And you see, you can get down and say, Well, I don’t commit adultery and I don’t steal and I don’t do those things, and we only get about three that we probably don’t do. And we just think we’re really good, and we forget about all the rest of it, coveting, lying, all of the things that we do every day in one form or another, and we get real proud about the things that we don’t do. Of course, we ignore the things that we do, but we get real proud over these things, and we and we kind of got our little categories, well, I’m really good in this and this and this, and we won’t talk about these. But the issue is, folks, that God doesn’t look at sin that way. He looks at sin as sin and there’s no numerical value on it. Sin is sin. And so I know people who have really in their life never done any of the biggies. They really haven’t. They’ve been they’ve been good in that respect. Now I don’t know a whole bunch of people like that, but I do know people like that. It. But yet, you talk to them, and if they know the Lord, do you, are they sitting there saying, I’m righteous? No, they said, huh, I got a thought life. I sometimes think evil things about people. I’m unforgiving sometimes. I’m jealous, I’m vindictive. I want to get even. You ever felt that way? I want to get even. I don’t get mad. I get even. All of those things. Those are all attitudes of the heart. Those are sinful attitudes that God has to work on us, does he not? And how long is he going to be working on us, teaching us to say no to these things? Until we’re taught, and until we’re absent from the body and present with the Lord.
So the Apostle Paul was saying here, guys, I only got one task, and that’s to teach and to testify the truth of this gospel of God’s marvelous grace toward us. And he said, now that I know that none of you among whom I have gone about preaching the kingdom will ever see me again. He’s saying, this is the last time that you’ll look upon me on this earth. You’ll never see me again. And therefore, I declare to you today that I’m innocent of the blood of all men. Nobody can say you didn’t go tell people, for I have not hesitated to proclaim to you the whole will of God. And he’s saying I didn’t testify to you just the cross of Jesus. I testified to you the whole counsel of God. I taught you life. I taught you what Jesus did at the cross. I taught you the meaning of the resurrection. I taught you the meaning of Jesus going to be with his Father and sending you His Spirit to live in you. I’ve taught you the fullness of the gospel of Christ, Jesus. I’ve taught you things on how to live, on what is right and wrong in the way to live your life. I’ve taught you all these things, and I said, keep watch over yourselves and all the flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, be shepherds of the Church of God, which he bought with his own blood, you and I have been purchased. We’re in Christ, Jesus. We’ve been bought back from Satan. We’ve been bought back out of the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins, his blood paid for us to be who we are today. And I know that after I leave, savage wolves will come in among you and will not spare the flock. And he isn’t talking about foxes. He’s talking about people that he refers to as savage wolves, people who want to come in to destroy your freedom. There are always people who want to destroy your freedom and folks, again, Satan uses anger and fear to keep us away from the grace of God that Paul came to proclaim. And the only thing that Satan wants is for you not to understand the grace of God, and the way he does that. He puts you back under pieces of the law. And the law brings fear, and fear has to do with punishment, and a man who fears cannot be perfected in love. And so the only thing the old bigot, major weapon that Satan has towards you and me is to put fear in our hearts, and that keeps us away from the perfect love of God, and He does that every day. Paul refers to him as a savage Wolf. He said, even from your own number, men will arise and distort the truth in order to draw away disciples after them. And that is true to this very day, people will come in among your numbers, and they will begin to arise and distort the truth of the goodness of God in order to draw people away from the grace of God and to get them becoming followers of themselves.
And that happens, and it has happened, and it’ll continue to happen if you don’t watch out for the wolves. They’re always out there, always out there with your traditions, always out there with our little things that you need to be doing. They’re always there to try to pull you away from the joy of the grace of God. So it says, Be on your guard. Is that admonishment for us today, to be on our guard? Absolutely. I want to tell you, folks, when you come to Christ, and even as a new Christian, I will guarantee you you’re going to come in contact with people who are going to want to try to pull you away from just the simplicity that is found in Christ. They’re going to tell you that you need some kind of a gift in order to be holy. They’re going to tell you you need to speak in tongues in order to be filled with the Spirit. They’re going to tell you you need to be slain in the spirit in order to get up. You’re going to hear every kind of nonsensical thing in the world from some of the biggest television people in the world, that if you sit and listen to them, you’re going to go down a primrose path to Nowhere, because it’s not biblical. And if it isn’t in here, folks, it isn’t there. But you’ve got people out there wanting to draw you make converts out of you make tongue speakers out of you, make healers, out of you, make anything out of you, except a person who walks by faith in Christ. And there’s nothing wrong with the things I’m saying. I’m saying it’s the emphasis. You don’t put your emphasis on a gift. You put it on the giver. But that never happened. Says, Oh no, it’s a no. It is not on the giver. It’s on the gift. You know, I sat around talking about my gift, my spiritual gift, and all of y’all be teachers, because that’s my gift. And I know God loves me to bear you, but if you had my gift, you’d be okay, isn’t that nonsense? And so folks, we have to start thinking soberly. You don’t come to Christ to get giddy. You come to Christ. He said, to be sober minded, to think soberly and to think correctly. You can’t think soberly when you’re thinking giddily. There’s such a word. And that’s why he says, to get your mind where it belongs. Get your mind focused on the author. Get your mind focused on the giver. If there’s something down here, that’s fine, but that’s not the big deal. The big deal is Him.

Listen to the Salvation message today!
Stand on the firmness of truth. Don’t keep going back and forth. Thank Him that the forgiveness issue is settled.
Let’s pray together:
- Lord Jesus,
- I thank you for taking away my sins on the cross,
- never ever to see them again.
- Having done that, I now thank you for giving me eternal life,
- through your resurrection.
- I now receive that life.
- And I am going stand in the fact that I am a child of the living God.
- In Jesus Holy name I pray.
- Amen
All believers are now brothers and sisters in Christ.
John 3:3
