We Are Saved by The Life of Jesus NOT His Death

~ For if, when we were enemies of God, we were reconciled to Him through the death of His Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through His life! Romans 5:10
Most of the world, including the so-called “Christian” world believes and teaches that getting your sins forgiven is what saves a person. That is one of the biggest lies of Satan within the church today. The idea of coming to Jesus to get your sins forgiven. And there are millions of people that believe they are saved because they think they got their sins forgiven by God when they asked for it. And Satan loves keeping people under the deception of that being salvation. And yet we are told in the Scriptures that having been reconciled by God at the cross, and while we were still lost (dead), Jesus died for the sins of the whole world. He took away the sins of the world at the cross, and there is now no more forgiveness doled out by Him. He did it once for ALL sins. And by the very act of asking for forgiveness to God is actually a denial of the finished work of Jesus, God in flesh on the cross. And so there are millions who believe they are saved because in their mind they streamed down an aisle, went to a confession booth, did their wrong interpretation of 1 John 1:9, over and over and over again, and nothing has changed on the inside. They are still dead as a hammer. For they do NOT have the Holy Spirit living in them for LIFE. Because those without the Spirit of God do NOT have life. And yes, it does matter what a person believes. Believing a lie of ongoing forgiveness, means the person never came to repentance in Truth. They never changed their mind, and think it is they themselves that are keeping their sins forgiven. They are still under the bondage of sin and death. They do not Have LIFE.

19 And Jesus said to him, “Why do you call Me good? No one is good, except God alone.

~ Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we stand. And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God.

Not only that, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out His love into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, whom He has given us.

For at just the right time, while we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous man, though for a good man someone might possibly dare to die. But God proves His love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Therefore, since we have now been justified by His blood, how much more shall we be saved from wrath through Him! For if, when we were enemies of God, we were reconciled to Him through the death of His Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through His life! Not only that, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.

Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, so also death was passed on to all men, because all sinned. For sin was in the world before the law was given; but sin is not taken into account when there is no law. Nevertheless, death reigned from Adam until Moses, even over those who did not sin in the way that Adam transgressed. He is a pattern of the One to come.

But the gift is not like the trespass. For if the many died by the trespass of the one man, how much more did God’s grace and the gift that came by the grace of the one man, Jesus Christ, abound to the many! Again, the gift is not like the result of the one man’s sin: The judgment that followed one sin brought condemnation, but the gift that followed many trespasses brought justification. For if, by the trespass of the one man, death reigned through that one man, how much more will those who receive an abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man, Jesus Christ!

So then, just as one trespass brought condemnation for all men, so also one act of righteousness brought justification and life for all men. For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man the many will be made righteous.

The law came in so that the trespass would increase; but where sin increased, grace increased all the more, so that, just as sin reigned in death, so also grace might reign through righteousness to bring eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Romans 5:1-21

Lord Jesus, teach me the truth of the world today and give me the wisdom to know the truth and identify the lies of the devil. Thank you God.”

~ “And so this passage of scripture in this fifth chapter of Romans is one of the most important chapters in the entire Bible. It’s the it takes the whole deal and capsulizes the entirety of the gospel in Christ. When we were enemies, that means lost, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son. Done for all men. Now guys, here’s where people get confused when they think that salvation is getting your sins forgiven, and that’s what they think salvation is. That was Calvin’s problem. These people who are Calvinists have never gone back to see what did Calvin believe. And he obviously believed that your sins were forgiven and therefore you’re saved. Nothing could be further from the truth. But you see, if that is what you believe, then how are you going to deal with God was in Christ reconciling the whole world unto himself? How are you going to deal with He not only died for our sins, but the sins of the whole world? How are you going to believe that and not believe in universal salvation for all men? And the issue is you can’t. And so they had to come up with something. Well, I can’t go along with universal salvation. I know he died that says that He died for the sins of the whole world, but that would mean salvation for all men. So we can’t believe that. So maybe he just died for the elect. And that’s where the elect came up, and that’s where predestination came up, which, incidentally, has nothing to do except to the Hebrew and to the Gentile, has nothing to do with yous and mes. Read the book of Ephesians, and it will speak that to you.

But was that is your idea, that what salvation is, then you’ve had to come up with every idea under the sun that he didn’t die for the whole world. He just died for a special group of people, and he chose you for damnation, but he chose you for salvation. And there’s nothing more nonsense to me than that theology, but it stems from a false premise. And if your premise is off, your findings are going to be off. The findings of experimentation are more, no more accurate than the original premise. If you go to a doctor and his premise is, I think you have tuberculosis, and you don’t, he’s probably going to kill you with his medication, because his premise is off and the findings are off. When your premise is off in regard to what salvation is, everything ultimately is going to go off. And so you have the Catholics that keep going to their priest for forgiveness and forgiveness and forgiveness, and you got the evangelical going to their first, John one nine for forgiveness, forgiveness, forgiveness, forgiveness. And God’s up in heaven crying out, guys, it’s finished. What do you think I did at the cross? Do you think I died for just some of your sins? I died for all of them, and I cried out from the cross. It is finished. You know why I said it was finished? Because it was finished. And I want you to rest. I want you to enter into a Sabbath rest, resting from your works, just as I did for mine. I’m not doing anything more. There’s no more forgiveness to be executed on your behalf, I’ve taken away the cause of death, so that I can offer you life internal. And we’re still dealing over here, and pay no attention at all to the meaning of the resurrected life that lives in us and guides us into all truth and teaches us the marvelous things of The Lord Jesus Christ.” ~ Bob George

Let’s pick up where we left off last week. We’re told in the scriptures for when we were God’s enemies, and that means when you and I were lost, we were reconciled to God through the death of his Son. When were you reconciled to God? When you were lost. You weren’t reconciled when you were saved, you were reconciled when you were lost. Now folks, we have all kinds of doctrines that have been formed and misunderstandings of Scripture because of people that do not understand the latter part of this verse. And that is that, how much more now this being an accomplished fact reconciliation, shall we be saved to his life? And we are, and have been streaming people down aisles for hundreds of years to get their sins forgiven, when the fact of the matter is their sins were already forgiven, and what they need now is life, because you’re not saved by the death of Christ, you’re saved by the life of Christ. You have to be saved from something, and what you’re saved from is the consequence of sin, which is called death. And we have to understand, and we all understand that we’re sinners. Some do and some don’t, the majority. But if we don’t understand we’re dead, why would we ever come to Him for what He came to give us, and that’s life? And he chose to give us eternal life, not cut, not temporal, but eternal life. And the only way that I could have eternal life is because of the eternal consequence of the cross, where he took away the cause of death once and for all, for all mankind. And that’s why Jesus said that the only sin that is attributable to man and the world’s sin is unbelief in who? Me Jesus. The only question that will ever be asked of you and me by God is, what did you do with my Son? Did you ignore him? Did you rebel against him? Were you just in neutral about him? Or did you come to understand that if we’re going to believe truth, folks, there’s only one spot to look for truth, and it’s in this Bible. You’re not going to find truth in Reader’s Digest. You’re going to find it in the Bible. And the Bible says we are dead. We are dead in our sins and the uncircumcision of our sinful nature, and we are born into this world dead and death is a problem. Have you ever noticed that they’re hard to move? A corpse is hard to talk back to. A corpse will not move when you tickle their feet, it’s dead, and it says that we have become dead, and if you’re dead, you need what? Life and folks, forgiveness does not give life. Life gives life, and the only life available to us is the resurrected life of Christ, Jesus, our Lord. It’s not a doctrinal issue. It’s not an issue like that at all. It’s a very practical issue that if you and I as human beings are born dead, then you need life. And where are you going to go to get life? You’re going to go to the Pope? He can’t give it to you. You’re going to go to Luther? He can’t give it to you. You’re going to go to People to People? We can’t give it to you. There’s only one person that can give you life, and that’s the resurrected Christ, Jesus, who is alive today, and is today going through the world as he has been for 2000 years, saying, Come unto me. Come unto me, not for my forgiveness only, but for me, because I am the way and I am the truth, and I am the life. And no man comes to the Father except through Me, Jesus. And if you’re sitting there in this room today, dead, you’ve got a choice, remain dead or choose life. And when you choose life, your life is changed because you’ve come alive we’re told, in Christ Jesus, and you’re no longer dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your sinful nature, you’ve been made alive.

And so folks, when we tell people, if you don’t quit sinning, you’re going to go to hell, that is a lie. No man will ever go to hell because of his sins. Plural, they’ve all been taken away. The only sin is the rejection of the one who came to take those sins away and was raised from the dead in order to give you the solution to your condition of death by his offer of resurrected life. That’s the good news of the gospel, folks, our denomination cannot do that. The Baptists can’t do that for you. The Presbyterians can’t do it for you. We can’t do it for you. It’s Christ, Jesus. And we’ve gotten so hung up in denominationalism and until they say, Well, what do you believe? Well, I believe what the Baptists do, after all, I’m a Baptist. Or I believe what the Presbyterians do after all, or I’m a Calvinist. What do I believe? What Calvin believed. Well, you’re to be pitied, of all people, because you don’t have a brain to think. What has God taught you? Not what he taught Calvin, not what he taught Luther, not what he teaches the Pope, but what has the Scripture taught you? Because if you’re born again, the Spirit of God lives in you, and if the Spirit of God lives in you, He is committed living in you to teach you truth and to lead you into all truth and to guide you into all truth. And he said that truth will set you free. You know why it set you free? Because it leads you to him. And he says, when a son has set you free, you shall be free indeed.

How much more having been reconciled, shall we be saved by His resurrected life? And not only is this so, but we rejoice in God, through our Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received what? Reconciliation. It’s all over. It was provided for the entire. Our world, it is received in him. Do we get that guys? He provided reconciliation through the whole world. That means wiping your sins away for the whole world. Where is that reconciliation received? In Him, in His resurrected life? That’s why the Scripture says, In Him, you have redemption. You don’t get you have redemption. What? The forgiveness of sins. Where is forgiveness received? In him. When you come to him, you get it all. You’ve been given everything you need for life and godliness. There’s nothing else that you need. I, quite frankly, don’t know what to pray for, because I’ve already got everything. And that’s why my praying to me is basically saying, Thank You. Thank You, Lord Jesus, thank you. Thank you. What? For all of His provision. What do I need when I’m being given everything that I already need, for life and godliness? It’s a marvelous thing that God has done for us, but he said now that that has been done we we rejoice in God through our Lord, Jesus, Christ, through whom we what? Receive. We’ve now received it. Reconciliation.

Therefore, therefore just as sin entered into the world through one man and death through sin. Now who was that one man? Adam, and therefore death came to all men, because all sinned. For before the law was given, sin was in the world, but sin is not taken into account when there is no law. Nevertheless, even though there was no law and even though sin wasn’t taken into account, Nevertheless death reigned. You were still under the death sentence. You were born dead. Do you understand that? You weren’t born alive spiritually, no one came out of their mother’s womb saying, Praise Jesus, you’re born dead. And the only thing that a dead man needs is life. So even though the law or was not taken into a sin, was not taken into account before the law, Nevertheless death reigned from the time of Adam to the time of Moses, where was where the law was given, not to us Gentiles, but to the Hebrew, even over those who did not sin by breaking a command, as did Adam, who was the pattern of the one to come. But the gift, this gift of God, is not like the trespass of Adam, for if the many died by the trespass of one man. And folks, if you look at your Bibles and and cross and circle one you’re going to see this, one man, one man, one man, one man, one man, one man, one man, as excuse me, Adam, the other man, Jesus. Adam, caused sin to enter into the world, and death came through sin. Jesus brought the gift of righteousness to all people. Now, folks, when we look back on this for a moment, you say sin entered through one man. Let’s turn back to the book of Genesis. I know that some of you are not going to know where that is.

We don’t get into the Old Testament too much, but it’s time to do it. Let’s go back to Genesis two, 2:15, we’re going to just kind of see where all of this began. The Lord took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to work and to take care of it, and the Lord God commanded the man you are free to eat of any tree in the garden. Now, folks that today can, in essence, be equated with a lot of times, people question, Who does God want me to marry? What job does he want me to have go take your pick. It doesn’t matter, as long as they’re Christian, doesn’t matter. You’re sitting around waiting for this perfect job and this perfect thing and this perfect, perfect, perfect. He said, Look, there’s all kinds of trees in the garden. Go pick the one you want. Isn’t that encouraging? Now, so you’re free to pick any tree that you can eat of any tree in the garden, but there’s one tree that you better not eat of. And he said, but you must not eat from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil, for the day you eat thereof, you will surely die. He said, There’s one tree Man that you better not eat of, and that’s the tree where you decide, I do not need you, God to determine right from wrong and good from evil. I’m going to deal in situational ethics. I’m going to make up my own rules. I’m going to say, Oh, well, you know, we’re all just human. Isn’t that the good well, after all, we’re just human. I’m going to come up with all those things, and God says to them, I want to tell you something the day that you eat of that tree and you make the determination in your heart that you do not need me to determine right from wrong and good from evil, you’re going to die. And so it says that, then later on, why, it says in chapter three, the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals and Lord God had made and so all of a sudden, Eve came on the scene, and he said to the woman, now, so he said to Adam, first of all, here’s what he said to Adam, you’re free to eat of any tree in the garden, but you must not eat from the Tree of the Knowledge good and evil the day you eat to surely die. That’s what he said to Adam. Then he created Eve, and Adam said, wow, and I do not want to lose her. And so Eve is in the garden, and Satan says to her, Did God really say, Do you think God really said that? Now, did God say this to Eve, or did God say this to Adam? He said it to Adam. Who told Eve? Adam, watch what Satan did. Did God really say you must not eat of any tree in the garden, in the garden? And the woman said to the serpent here, in essence, here’s what Adam told me. We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden, but God did say you must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you must die. Now, did God tell Adam, don’t touch the tree? No, but you could say here, Adam, Eve. I tell you something. I’ll tell you what God said. He said, you not only are going to eat of this thing, I’m telling you, don’t even touch that sucker. And so here, Eve got her instruction from Adam that you don’t even touch the tree. Now guess probably what Satan was doing, leaning on the tree, not dead, but alive, leaning on the tree, and he says, you surely won’t die. Look at me. I’m touching the tree. I’m not dead. For God knows that when you eat of this tree, your eyes will be open and you’ll be like God knowing good from evil. You see what happens when you add to the Scripture folks? you add to the scripture, and that’s where Satan is going to get you. Every time you subtract from it or add to it, and that’s where he’s going to get you. Adam, added to the scripture, God did not tell him, don’t touch the tree. He just merely told him, don’t eat of it. Adam, in his enthusiasm, I think, not to lose Eve said, Don’t even touch it. And that’s where Satan got her. And so the woman saw that the tree of life, or the tree, was good for food and pleasing to the eye, didn’t see anything wrong with it, and also desirable for gaining wisdom. Because Satan said, you’re going to gain some wisdom here. So she took some and ate it, and also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it. Now I think Eve was deceived, and I think man is rebellious. I think that’s true today. A woman is more easily deceived and a man is just plain old, rebellious. Do you guys agree with this, or awful silent out there? So he ate it intentionally, and all of a sudden, their eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked. And so what did they do? They sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves. In other words, they tried to cover up their own nakedness with their own doing. Now, folks, that was the beginning. That was law in the Garden of Eden, and there was also grace, because, in essence, God said those fig leaves aren’t going to cover you. I will clothe you. I will provide the clothing for you. And we all know the story of that, but folks, that’s where sin began, and from that moment on, we are told that we came from the loins of Adam over in the fifth chapter.

Look at this. When God created man, He made Him in the likeness of God. So Adam and Eve were created, created in the image of who? God. He created them, male and female, and blessed them. And when they were created, He called them Man. Now, when Adam had lived 130 years, he had a son in his own likeness. In his own image, and he named him Seth. Were we born in the image of God, or were we born in the image of Adam? Which is it, guys? So were we all created in the image of God? As people say, were we or not? No, who was created in the image of God? Adam. Who was born in the image of Adam? Us, dead as a hammer. Adam died, and we were born into Adam dead. That’s why we were born dead, and that’s why it says that through one man, sin entered into this world, through one man, Adam, and death through that sin, and in this way, death came to how many men? All men, because the proof of that is we’ve all sinned. Are we together? For before the law was given, sin was in the world. But sin is not taken into account, nevertheless, or when there was no law, nevertheless, death reigned from the time of Adam to the time of Moses, even over those who did not sin by breaking a command, as did Adam, who was the pattern of the one to come. But the gift, this is the gift of God. It’s not like the trespass. For if the many died by the trespass of one man, how much more did God’s grace and the gift that came by the grace of the one man, Christ, Jesus? One man Adam, brought death, one Man Jesus brought life.

Again, the gift of God is not like the result of one man’s sin. Judgment followed one sin. What was the judgment of God? On the day you eat thereof, you will surely what die? That was a judgment of God the day you eat thereof, you will certainly die. Now did Adam die physically that day? No, did he die soulishly? No. How’d he die spiritually and again? Guys, what is death? The absence of life. What is darkness? The absence of light? The condition of this world is dark. The sun comes up, dispels the darkness, and we have light. The sun goes down, we return to our natural state. What is spiritual death? The absence of spiritual life. The life of God departed from Adam, his human spirit that was joined to God, because God, in his master plan, determined that God in the man is indispensable to the humanity of the man, just as electricity in that bulb is indispensable to the function of the bulb, or gas in your car is indispensable to the function of the car. God made us in such a way whereby God, the Creator in his creation, is indispensable to this man being totally whole. So God departed from man, and man was left with a human spirit that is alive to the world, but dead to what left it. Contrary to what some people say that your human spirit is dead, dead. Now, folks, if your human spirit is dead, dead, then all you got is a soul and a body, and that’s a dog. A dog has a body. Does a dog have a soul? A mind? Does a dog have a mind? Debatable, but yes, emotion, uh huh, a will. Does a dog have a will? Uh huh, yeah, it sure does. You’re a dog. If you don’t have a human spirit that separates you from the animal kingdom. You’re nothing but an animal. So this idea that your spirit is dead, dead means that you’re an animal. Your human spirit is alive. Your human spirit is alive to the world, but it’s dead to what vacated it, God. And so your human spirit is constantly longing and each and every one of us who were in Christ today remember the day before we came to Christ, when our hearts were longing for something, something was missing. You remember those days something’s missing, something’s wrong, things aren’t functioning properly. It’s kind of like a car without a spark plug. Something’s missing. It’s running, but it’s jumping. You remember those days, and so you turn to alcohol, you turn to drugs, you turn to women and guys and bars and booze and all this stuff to feed the flesh, to try to get some satisfaction. And there isn’t any, Is there? None. You’re as empty as a pork barrel, and you look in the mirror and say, What’s this all about Alfie? That’s exactly the prayer that I had went up before I saved to God, not a very theological prayer, but it was my heart. What’s it all about? Alfie? What’s this life all about? There’s no meaning to it. Making money successful, but no meaning to it has no meaning. And that’s a condition of a heart. Without God living in you, your heart is longing. There’s a God shaped vacuum in the heart of every man that can only be filled by God through his Son, Jesus Christ. It’s a vacuum that’s there, and we have to understand that. So your human spirit is very much alive to the world. It’s just dead to what vacated it, and that’s God, and that’s what you’re longing for.

Every person is longing for God. We don’t know that’s what we’re longing for. I can remember the day that I was saved, and I looked back and I was wondering everything that I’ve been looking for in my life was as close as a prayer. Was as close as just saying Jesus come live in my heart, that close and I had missed it for 36 years. That crazy how we missed something so important. I knew Jesus. I knew about him. Did you love Jesus? Yeah, I loved as much I can love anybody, but did I know him? No, I didn’t know him. Didn’t know I could. I’d never heard that I could. I’d never been in a church that taught that I could know Christ personally. When I came to know him, I wondered why it took so long. And many times I asked God, that God, how come it took 36 years for you to save me? And it was kind of like God said, so you’d have compassion on the lost. And I do, because I remember what it was like to be lost.

Now all of this came one man Adam, one man Jesus. So if the many died by the trespass of one man, how much more did God’s grace and the gift come by the grace of the one man, Christ, Jesus, overflow to the many and again, going to repeat it again. The gift of God is not like the result of one man’s sin. Adam’s one man’s sin. The judgment followed one sin. The judgment came on Adam, and it was therefore we were born into that judgment, we were born dead.
