The Law Shows Us Our Sinfulness So We Turn to Jesus for His Righteousness

~ Today, most of the people have declared most everything to no longer be sin. Satan has done a masterful job of this, declaring most everything to no longer be sin. We are not just talking about the 10 commandments anymore taken off the courthouses folks. That was a picture of things to come, and we hardly paid any attention to it. Then we got caught up in the world of everything not declared sin on the television and the movies and the news. We have been brainwashed by it. And most of you know what we are talking about there and don’t have to go into details about it. But we fell in love with our idols regardless of Truth. And yet they passed more laws that declare things are no longer sin. And in fact it is gone even further than that today, they passed laws if you do declare things wrong, and that if you declare some things sin you are considered to be doing hate speech. So now, people are more afraid of what the government says you can and cannot say and do, regardless of what the Word of God says. So why would Satan do that? Well, it is to make people feel so comfortable in their sins, by declaring something legal, that they would not turn to Jesus for Life. And it doesn’t matter which side of the coin you look at today, they are ALL Evil. The Hegelian Dialectic is done by Satan to play both sides of the equation. They know exactly what they are doing to further their agenda, of knocking God out of the equation. None of them are true believers in Jesus at the top. That should be obvious to everyone by now. And if some think that someone is “good” or better than someone else, they are badly mistaken. For they all run the show together at the top, and the show is a big top circus to get you to look over in this ring, while they do things in the other ring. Satan wants you to trust in Man over that of God. And remember, that “satan is god of this age.” [2 Corinthians 4:4]

And if a person thinks this is a battle between good and evil on a physical plane, they have forgotten the word of God and given lip service to what it says. “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this world’s darkness, and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” Ephesians 6:12 Our battle is against the spiritual forces, more evil than you can imagine. And all the Nations (all the people) of the world have been deceived by Satan and the demons. Do not think that this is as it were to be the demonization of everything, but it’s a matter of fact biblical fact, to get us to see the Truth of what is going on today. The question comes down to, Do we really believe the word of God that no one is Good no not one? Or do we place our faith in Man over that of God? For God declares these things to be True. Are we to call God a liar? ‘Certainly not! Let God be true and every man a liar. As it is written: “So that You may be proved right when You speak and victorious when You judge.”’ Romans 3:4

We all fell for Satan’s lies. And we need to go back to the word of God to understand Truth. We are not to lean on our own understanding of anything today. We are to trust in the Holy Spirit living in us to lead us in ALL Truth. Trust in JESUS ONLY: “Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding;” Proverbs 3:5

~ What then is the superiority of the Hebrew [Ἰουδαίου (Ioudaiou)]? Or what is the benefit of the circumcision? Much in every way. For chiefly indeed, that they were entrusted with the oracles of God.

What if indeed some disbelieved? Will their unbelief nullify the faithfulness of God? Never may it be! But let God be true, and every man a liar, as it has been written:

“That You may be justified in Your words,

and will prevail in Your being judged.”

But if our unrighteousness shows God’s righteousness, what shall we say? God, inflicting the wrath, is unrighteous? I speak according to man. Never may it be! Otherwise, how will God judge the world? But if in my lie, the truth of God abounded to His glory, why am I also still judged as a sinner? And is it not, as we are slanderously charged, and as some affirm us to say, “Let us do evil things that good things may come?” Their condemnation is just.

What then? Are we better? Not at all. For we have already charged both Hebrews [Ἰουδαίους (Ioudaious)] and Greeks all to be under sin. As it has been written:

“There is none righteous,

not even one;

there is none understanding;

there is none seeking after God.

All have turned away;

together they have become worthless;

there is none who is practicing good,

there is not so much as one.

Their throat is a grave having been opened;

they keep practicing deceit with their tongues;

the venom of vipers is under their lips,

of whom the mouth is full of cursing and of bitterness;

their feet are swift to shed blood;

ruin and misery are in their paths;

and the way of peace they have not known.

There is no fear of God before their eyes.”

Now we know that whatever the Law says, it speaks to those under the Law, so that every mouth may be stopped, and the whole world may be under judgment to God. Therefore by works of the Law, not any flesh will be justified before Him; for through the Law is knowledge of sin.

But now apart from Law, the righteousness of God has been revealed, being borne witness to by the Law and the Prophets. And the righteousness of God is through faith from Jesus Christ toward all those believing. For there is no distinction, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God set forth as a propitiation through faith in His blood, for a showing forth of His righteousness, because of the forbearance of the sins having taken place beforehand, in the forbearance of God, for the showing forth of His righteousness in the present time, for Him to be just, and justifying the one of the faith of Jesus.

Where then is boasting? It has been excluded. Through what principle? That of works? No, but through the principle of faith. Therefore we reckon a man to be justified by faith apart from works of the Law.

Or is He the God of Hebrews [Ἰουδαίων (Ioudaiōn)] only, not also of Gentiles? Yes, also of Gentiles, since indeed God is the One who will justify the circumcision by faith and the uncircumcision through the same faith.

Do we, then, nullify the Law through faith? Never may it be! Instead, we uphold Law. Romans 3:1-31

Pray to God:

Do you really want to know the WHOLE Truth of what is going on today?

“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened to you.” Matthew 7:7

Lord Jesus, teach me the truth of the world today and give me the wisdom to know the truth and identify the lies of the devil. Thank you God.”

~ “Rather, it’s through the law that we become conscious of what? Of sin. Folks, when the 10 Commandments were taken down recently in that courthouse, what is the world trying to do by destroying, what is Satan trying to do by destroying the set 10 Commandments? What’s he trying to accomplish on that by taking them away? What’s he trying to accomplish? Well, if I can make people not conscious of their sin, they’ll never come to Jesus, because the only way someone’s going to come to Jesus is if their conscience that they need Jesus, right? And if I don’t know I’m dead, I certainly am not going to seek life. If I don’t know I’m a sinner or I’m just not conscious of the fact that I’m a sinner, I wouldn’t turn to Him for forgiveness, would I? And so through the elimination and the alleviation of what God says, the alleviation of the 10 Commandments, you have annihilated man’s ability to make them conscious of their sin. Do we understand that? And so he’s saying there that the through the law, we become conscious of our sin. Now, when I’m conscious of my sin, I also need to be conscious of the consequence of sin, which is death.” ~ Bob George

Bob George 0:28
I have reduced the whole world to the position of death, whether you have the law or whether you don’t, is irrelevant. You’re dead. And that’s what he’s saying. Therefore, when you see a therefore, what’s it therefore? Because of what I just got through saying, therefore no one you get this, folks will be declared righteous in His sight. Now you notice whose sight you’re talking about. In his sight, we may be righteous in our own sight. Oh, I’m righteous. I’m a righteous dude. But he said, Nobody, nobody, nobody will ever be declared righteous in His sight by observing the law. Now, guys, you say, Well, what’s it there for? Well, we’ll talk about that in a minute. Do you understand that no man, how many of you ever tried to be righteous in the sight of God by observing the law? How many? How many have ever tried that? Yeah, did it work? And you knew it, didn’t you. You knew this wasn’t working, but you keep trying.

Rather, it’s through the law that we become conscious of what? Of sin. Folks, when the 10 Commandments were taken down recently in that courthouse, what is the world trying to do by destroying what is Satan trying to do by destroying the set 10 Commandments? Now, when I’m conscious of my sin, I also need to be conscious of the consequence of sin, which is death.

So he says, a righteousness from God, apart from the law, has been known with to which the law and the prophets testify. So here he’s saying that there is a righteousness, and where there’s the emphasis a righteousness where? From God, not from you, from God, a righteousness from God. And he says that that’s apart from the law has been made known to which the law and prophets testify. So he’s talking about the fact that the law of Moses and the prophets now a righteousness from God, apart from the law, has been made known to which the Old Testament testifies. So it talks about that, and this righteousness comes. Here’s the words again, where? From God. Not from us, from God. And it comes through what? Faith in Jesus Christ, to how many that believe? All Hebrew and Gentile alike, he reduced us all to one level, and said, There’s one way that you’re going to be saved Hebrew and Gentile, and that’s by faith in the Messiah. To the Hebrew that they knew, who that they knew the Messiah, they knew about him, and to the Gentile who just comes to Jesus. Reduced those all to one level lost, and offer salvation to both through who? Christ, Jesus and folks, that’s why there is no other name given among men whereby you must be saved. It makes no difference whether you’re Hebrew or Gentile, slave or free, you’re dead. The biggest problem that Hebrew people have is they look at the opposite of a Hebrew as being a Christian. Nothing could be further from the truth. The opposite of a Hebrew is a Gentile, and you got dead Gentiles and you got dead Hebrews, and you got saved Gentiles, and you got saved Hebrews. And until they understand the truth of that, they always are looking at the opposite of a Hebrew is Christian. So you’re trying to convert me from being a Hebrew to becoming a Gentile. That’s an essence what they think. But the essence of the reality of that is you don’t you lose your Hebrew heritage when you come to Christ, you’re still Hebrew born, and you’re still Gentile born, but you’ve been born from above by God, a new creation called a child of the living God. And so he’s saying that there’s a righteousness now, not that you can earn on your own, but a righteousness from God that has been made known, to which the law and the prophets testify.

Now this righteousness, and again, is that word from God. And you keep seeing this from God. This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ, to how many that believe all there’s no difference. He says, no difference between the Hebrew and the Gentile. And folks, when you’re reading a scripture, recognize this is what he’s talking about, Hebrew and Gentile. There’s no difference between the two. All have sinned. What do you see? Talking about here, the Gentile world have sinned, the Hebrew world have sinned. All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God and are justified freely by his grace, through the redemption that came by Jesus Christ. Redemption. Christ came to redeem us from our sins.

So you say, What’s redemption? How many of you have ever been to redemption center? How many of you remember green stamps and all those kind of stamps that we used to have? Remember those we used to save them. And where did we go? We went to a redemption center, didn’t we? And what’d we do? We turned in a bunch of stamps that were totally worthless and got a toaster. That’s redemption. I gave him everything that I am, nothing, and he gave me everything that he is, everything. I exchanged my life for his. I took upon himself, his life, so that if any man be in Christ, he is a new creation. Old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new. I am crucified with Christ. Nevertheless I live yet not I but it’s Christ that lives in me, and the life that I live in is flesh, I live by faith in the Son of God, the One who loved me and gave himself for me. It’s a total change of life. I give him me, he gives me him. And that’s what redemption is all about.

So it talks about the fact that is through His grace that I was redeemed by Jesus Christ, God presented him as a sacrifice of atonement. Now, folks, what I want you to do, if you’ve got your Bible, if any of you have the NIV or other Bibles, I want you to look down at the footnote in verse 25 now here again, is where translation comes in. Is Jesus a sacrifice of atonement? Who atone for sins? Bulls and goats. Atonement, The Day of Atonement was a Hebrew custom where they had to go to the Day of Atonement and slay a bull or a goat and spread the blood on the altar and atone for sin without the shedding of blood, there’s how much forgiveness? None. When 70 ad came along and Titus came and destroyed the temple in Jerusalem, there’s never been sacrifices since then. So I would have to ask the question, how do you get your sins forgiven, if without the shedding of blood, there is no forgiveness, and that’s in the Old Testament, how do you get your sins forgiven when there’s no more shedding of blood? You got me.

So the issue is that we have translation. Now what you’ll find is in some commentaries that people will say, Well, the word atonement, through continual theological usage has become acceptable. So the only thing it takes to make something acceptable is continual theological usage. The word is not used in the Scripture. The word that is used in the Scripture and in the Greek language is propitiation. It means exactly what it says in the footnotes, and this is what it should be translated. For some reason, translators don’t do it. God presented him as a sacrifice, as the one who would turn aside His wrath taking away our sins. Now that is a footnote, and that is the accurate translation of this verse, Not atonement. You don’t get the taking away of sins at atonement. Atonement covered sins until the next time. It’s like, it’s like covering sin and then putting more sin on top the covering, come back next year and covering it. And pretty soon you got to stack that high. He didn’t come to cover sin. Jesus came to take away the sins of the world. Behold the Lamb of God, who what? Takes away the sins of the world. And so why translators translate that this way, I don’t know. Because you miss what Jesus came to do, and maybe it’s because we’ve never thought or really recognized or realized this is what Jesus came to do, contrary to the blood of bulls and goats, he came to do something far greater than what the blood of a bull and goat can do. It’s only the blood of God Himself that was of such value that could take away the sins of the whole world. And so he’s saying here, and the real translation of that is God presented him as a sacrifice. As the one who would turn aside His wrath taking away our sins through faith in his what? In his blood. Not the blood of a bull and goat. Are we together?

He did this. Why did he do this? To demonstrate His justice, because in his forbearance, he had left sins committed beforehand unpunished. Now what’s he talking about there? Who took the punishment for the sins before the cross? Jesus, he took it at the cross. You see the work of Christ taking away the sins of the world. Went back to Adam and forward to eternity. It was eternal in its scope, back to Adam, forward to eternity. So it was not punished beforehand, because the ultimate punishment for sin was placed on who? On Christ. Now he did this to demonstrate his justice at the present time, so as to be just, and the one who justifies those who have faith in Christ. And there’s he’s saying the just became the justifier. The just one is Jesus. He became the justifier for you and me. Well now Where then is the boasting? So here’s what he’s talking about. Where is all this boasting going on? Now why would he say that unless people were boasting? And that’s what people do to this very day. Well, we keep the law, we are generous. We’re justified in the sight of God because of what we do and because we observe our holidays. So everybody thinks we’re okay. He says, Where is that boasting? I’ve just declared no one’s righteous in the sight of God. No one will ever be declared righteous in the sight of God through obedience to the law. So where is the boasting? Well, he said, it’s excluded. Doesn’t exist. On what principle, on that of observing the law? No but on that of faith. So he said, This boasting that’s going on is excluded. Get rid of it. It’s not important, because you can’t find justification through the law, but only through faith in Jesus, who took away the sins of the world.

Bob George 13:54
For we maintain that a man is justified by faith apart from observing the law. Well, then he asked the questions, well, then is God the God of the Hebrews only? Is he not the God of the Gentiles too? Yes, of the Gentiles too. But since there is only one God who will justify the circumcised? Who is that? Who are the circumcised ones, the Hebrews by faith and the uncircumcised? Who’s that? The Gentiles through that same faith. It’s only one God who will justify both of them. Well, then do we nullify the law by this faith? Said, No, we uphold it. Now, what does that mean? It means we establish it. It means that we cause it to stand. But what are you talking about here? We cause it to stand. Do we nullify the law? No, we don’t nullify it. We cause it to stand. Now again, who did he say the law was for? The lost. Are they causing it to stand? Yeah, because if you don’t have the law, you’re not going to know you’re a sinner. And that’s why people today are determined to try to destroy the law. You got the self righteous trying to use the law for their righteousness, and then it was made to get the sinner to see they’re a sinner, and we’ve misused that as well. So Satan has managed to take what God gave us and mess it up on all fronts.

Now turn back with me for a moment to collect to the book of Galatians, to the third chapter of Galatians, and beginning in verse, 19 Galatians, 3:19. You all got it? Now. There again. Is the answer to the question, What was the purpose of the law? Do we nullify the law by this faith? No, not at all. We uphold it. Let’s see what it says. Well, what then is the purpose of the law? It was added because of transgressions or sins, and then what do you see? What word do you see now? Until. Now when you see until, what does that mean? That means there’s a before and after. It was added because of transgressions, until the seed, and who’s the seed? Jesus. Until Jesus to whom the promise referred had come, the law was put into effect through angels by a mediator. A mediator, however, does not represent one party, but God is one. Is the law then opposed to the promises of God? Absolutely not. For if a law that had been given could impart life and righteousness would have come by the law. But the Scripture declares that the whole world is a prisoner of sin, so that what was promised being given through faith in Jesus Christ might come to all who believe. Now look at this, folks and listen to it. Before this faith came, and before you put your faith in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, before that occurred, you were a prisoner by the law. That’s why he says, We’re not going to nullify it. We’re going to uphold it. Why? Because you, if you’re lost, need to see you’re a prisoner to the law, locked up until faith in Jesus should be revealed. That’s the purpose. The law locks you up until you put faith in Jesus. So the law was put in charge to lead us to Christ so that we could be justified by faith and not through obedience to the law. Now that faith has come, look at this, guys. You don’t have to be a rocket scientist to figure out what this means. Now that faith has come, we are no longer under the supervision of the law. Now can you get a clearer? You say, what does that mean? In Greek, it means you’re no longer under the supervision of the law. You can’t get it any clearer than that, I’d want to ask a question. If you had a choice, would you rather be have a law that you’ve got to live by and perform 100% in or, let’s say, there was a possibility that God gave you where he said, I’ll come live in you, and I will guide you into all truth? Which would you rather be guided into all truth, or living under the law? You see, there’s the option. Do you want to be guided by the law, or do you want to be guided by the Holy Spirit? Now, if you don’t know that there’s such a thing as the Holy Spirit who is alive. He’s the third person of the Trinity, who Jesus said, When I go away, I will send Him to you to live inside of you, to guide you into how much truth? All of it.

You see, that’s why people say I follow Jesus. Well, I hope you get to where he’s going, because if you’re following Jesus, you better follow him to where he went to the cross and to the resurrection. Now, once you followed him to where he went to the cross and resurrection, you’re no longer following him. You’re being led by Him. So if you’re a follower of Christ, keep following him until you get to where he was going, to the cross and to the empty tomb, and then you’ll be led internally by His Spirit. Now, if you don’t have a clue as to the ministry of the Holy Spirit. You’re going to have to hang on to something in your life. You’re either going to have to hang on to the law or be like the total heathenistic world as it is becoming in this country, where you say you don’t need the law, you don’t need Jesus, you don’t need anything. Just let your conscience be your guide, and then don’t pay much attention to your conscience either just do what feels good, and that’s the world today. God said that if you want to have an abundant life, you’re going to have to realize that the law will do its work if you let it, it’ll show you your sinfulness. It’ll show you that there’s a consequence to sin called death. And that’s when you’re going to look at Jesus and His resurrected life and say, I want to, I want life. I want to come to Jesus for life. I’m dead, and I don’t want to stay dead. I’ve been trying to follow the law, and I can’t do it. Now I want to be led internally by the Spirit of God, and you come to Him by faith, and you receive everything that you’ve ever wanted in your life, and you’ve been given everything that you need for life and godliness in this person of Christ, Jesus. I don’t care whether you’re a Hebrew or a Gentile

The young man that was here with us last week, one of them was a Muslim, the other a Christian. I told him, I don’t care whether you’re a Muslim or a Buddhist or a Catholic or a Protestant, you’re dead until you come to Christ for life. You can follow a man, or you can follow THE MAN, either way, if you want to follow Mohammed, you will go to hell. If you want to come to Jesus, you will go to heaven. That simple. He didn’t sit around and say, Well, I’m just going to appear to certain parts of the world. He came to die for the sins of the whole world. It’s not being dogmatic any more than two plus two equal four is dogmatic. It’s very practical. If you’re dead, you need life, and if you don’t receive life, you remain dead. You’re born into this world as dead as a hammerspiritually. You’re not plugged into God. You’re dead to God. Every man born dead to God, no one came out of his Mama’s womb saying praise Jesus. You’re born, lost, dead, and if you’re dead, you either want to stay dead or you come to Him for life. I came that you might have life and have it abundantly. I’m the WAY and the TRUTH and the LIFE. I’m the resurrection and the life. And whosoever believes in me though he were dead spiritually, yet shall he live spiritually. And whosoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this? And to those who do are born from above. You don’t create it down here, up there. You get it from up there into your heart. And the issue is, do you want to accept Him by faith, or do you want to remain dead? This is not religion folks. You know, keep up. Keep talking about religion. It has nothing to do with religion. It’s total practicality. You can’t get any more practical than this. You’re dead, but I came to give you life. I don’t know how can be any more practical. It’s not a religion. It’s a relationship with the Living God. And he’s saying, if you’re dead folks, that is not a desirable condition to be in. But I came to give you life. Don’t come to practice religion. Come to me for what you need, life, and I will come to live within you and to give you life. And from that point on, I’ll be your counselor, your director, your best friend. There’s nothing to lose and everything to gain. The issue is, do you want life?

To those who want life, you say, how do you get life? I waited 36 years, and on the day that I accepted Christ Jesus, my life flip flopped. There’s no explanation for that, none at all. There’s no explanation for going in one direction one day and 180 degrees the next. There’s no explanation for that. I don’t mean it, you became wonderful and never sinned again. All that junk. I’m talking about the fact you became a new creation. I’m talking about the fact of a man who had no interest in the things of God at all, just superficial, and the next day I couldn’t get enough of him. Now you explain how that happens. It’s the greatest miracle. It’s miraculous. New birth is a miracle from God. You’re going one direction, next day all you want to talk think about is God. Never thought about him before, but now I want to think about it. You tell me how that comes about, except through the miracle of God. So I waited 36 years in my life, and I can remember the morning the day that Amy and I went out to Arrowhead Springs and I accepted Jesus. Didn’t accept him through a big presentation at all. Bill Bright handed me the four law booklet and said, read it. So it wasn’t his presentation. He didn’t say anything. He said, read it. And I started reading the Word of God and tears started welling up in my soul, for some reason, was able to understand the truth of the Word of God. My life changed. Driving back home, I said to Amy, I knew nothing about theology. I knew nothing about anything. I never opened the Bible, never studied the Bible. When opened it, it cracked said to a man, I felt like I scrubbed all over. I didn’t know God came to cleanse you all under. I felt like I’ve been scrubbed miracle, miracle of grace. And the thing that wondered me is, You mean for all these years and I searching for love that it was as close as a prayer, and God says, Yeah, and you say to yourself, I sure been stupid. Haven’t I? Said, Yeah, you really have. Oh Lord, how come you let me be stupid for so long? Said so you’d have compassion on people who are lost. And that’s true, you have compassion on people who are lost, because you know what that was like, going through life, trying to find meaning and purpose to life, and not finding it any place. Didn’t find it in riches, didn’t find it in success, didn’t find it in anything, not there, and all of a sudden, like that, you found it. That’s new birth. It’s all miracle. And that appeal is to every person within my voice, that appeal is there come unto me, all of you who labor and are heavy laden, I’ll give you rest and peace for your soul. If you don’t know Christ, make it today, the day that you accept Him, today that you accept life and come from death to life, from darkness into light, the light of the kingdom of God through Jesus Christ.
