Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P868 (09-08-23)
When You Are Saved, You Are In The Fellowship With God
~ Jesus took your sins away at the cross, so that in Christ Jesus you can become the righteousness of God. It doesn’t get any clearer than that. There is no going in and out of fellowship with God. You are either in the fellowship, saved, or out of the fellowship, lost. No one bounces in and out of fellowship. People that teach that a person can go in and out of fellowship with God are misrepresenting the word of God. The book of 1st John also makes that abundantly clear. Only when a person is saved do they have fellowship with other believers in Christ Jesus. It’s two fellows in the same ship. A lost person doesn’t have fellowship with a saved person, because the lost person doesn’t have the Holy Spirit living in them. They are NOT one with Christ Jesus and God the Father and the Holy Spirit. They are dead lost. They do not belong to the fellowship of True Born Again Believers in Christ Jesus. And once you are in the fellowship of Christ Jesus, God doesn’t throw you over the side of the ship, no matter what.
~ We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also may have fellowship with us. And this fellowship of ours is with the Father and with His Son, Jesus Christ. 1 John 1:3
~ God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. 2 Corinthians 5:21
~ And this righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no distinction, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Romans 3:22,23

Caller Question:
~ Bob, I had a question. I know how you stand on the subject or the topic of in and out of fellowship with God and I believe the same way you do. I was reading a book today by a well known pastor who believes in the in and out of fellowship, and he used Luke 15, where he talks about the parable of the lost or the prodigal son. And so this was a prime example how believer when he is out of fellowship with God can regain his fellowship. ~ Dale
Answer:
~ “Well, again, Dale, this is once again an example of people using human experiences and saying if this was true of a human experience down here, it certainly must be true of God. In other words, God certainly couldn’t be any different than us. And if that’s the way I deal with people, that’s the way God must deal. It’s the same argument that people give Well, you know, somebody offends me, I’ll forgive them, but they’re going to have to come and ask me for forgiveness or if you have a son, and he went out and messed up, he needs to come to ask you to forgive him before you’ll forgive me. Well, it’s nonsense. Number one, if that was the case, my son would probably never be forgiven, because I don’t remember him ever coming in saying I messed up Dad, please forgive me. He said, I messed up dad and we dealt with it. Forgiveness isn’t even an issue between me and my children, they’re already forgiven. It’s the same way with God. So when you’re putting God on the same level with, with us or even with a story out of the Bible, you’re you’re putting it you’re that that’s the wrong reason for the parable. The parable was the lost son. That’s not out of fellowship, that’s lost. That’s a lost son, who rejected his inheritance or took it early, and went out, to to squander his life, finding out to the point that even my father’s servants are living better than I do. And came to his senses and returned home. Well, and he had a speech in mind probably his first John one, nine probably had that all in mind. But before he even was able to give his first John one nine, the father was there with open arms and received the son without ever hearing word out of him. Killed the fatted calf, and clothed them and put him with a party. And so there’s again, that wasn’t the case of out of fellowship, that was the case of a relationship with his father, but of the son deciding to go his own way. In the Bible, Fellowship is you’re in the fellowship or out of fellowship, there’s no place in the Bible of being in and out of fellowship. So again, they Oh, when that’s the case, I don’t know why we keep harping on these things. It’s like people with tithing, it’s not there. Why do you keep harping on it? In and out of fellowship, it’s not there. Why do you keep harping on it? Why do you keep talking about what is not in the New Testament? And what is in the New Testament is you have been called in to fellowship with His Son. And if you’re in the light saved as Christ, Jesus is in the light, the two of you have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, continually cleanses you of every sin imaginable, which prohibits you from ever getting in darkness. It means that you’re in the light and as a result of being in the light, there’s a fellowship between the two of you. And so we you’re called into fellowship. Nothing, no place in the Bible is the word fellowship used in regard to bouncing in and out. Why we use it, then I don’t know, we have to ask ourselves a question then. What we do, what we do say is that a person has decided, if let’s say that, that is a son. And that’s why he came home was when he’s a son. The pig didn’t come home because he’s a pig. The reason that the son left was he decided that it was going to be more fun to listen to the voice of Satan than to listen to the instruction of his father. Very simple. It’s not having to be in and out of fellowship. It’s the fact that he took off to do his own thing. His father waited for him patiently, didn’t he? And again, when the son came back, he was already waiting for him with open arms.
I think there’s a story, quite frankly, just as powerful as the prodigal son. And that’s the jealous brother. And we lose that side of that story. Here’s the brother. And he’s the self righteous one. He’s the one that’s been in church every Sunday. And man, he’s been obeying all the laws, and he’s been subservient to the Father, and he’s been a good son, and he’s proud of it. That’s the picture of self righteousness. Yeah, nothing wrong with being a good son. Nothing wrong with being obedient to the Father, but don’t get self righteous over it. That’s the thing you should be doing. So he sees his father having his party for this rebellious son, and he just gets angry. And he gets mad over this thing and in essence, voices that what’s going on here, Dad, you’re throwing a party for this slob son of yours has been out walking with the pigs and prostitutes and everything else? And I’ve been this good, good, good son, and you haven’t thrown a party for me. And he went and pouted. So you’ve got you got two things that you’re dealing with and the father chastised him for that. He said that son was dead, in essence, and now he’s alive. He was blind, and now he sees. And so you got two stories there that are equal in value to us. You got the sinner that came to his senses, and came home. You got the kid that’s already home trying to live up to the law trying to be good trying to be good who gets mad at the kid who was saved. That’s the picture. Quite frankly, it’s a picture of the Hebrew and Gentile.” ~ Bob George
