Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P572 (09-18-20)
Synopsis
Jesus told us that the gospel will go out into all the world and then the end will come. So we are busy about doing what God has called us to do, to make God known. The reason we are here is to proclaim Him. Make the most of every opportunity, for the days are evil.
Jesus Christ is the solution to the world’s problems. It will not be solved by peace treaties and doing good to others. The problem goes deeper than that. It is a problem in the human heart, of mankind being born dead to God. We are born dead spiritually, that is, without the Spirit of God living in us. Unless a man is born again, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. The only life available to mankind is the resurrected life of Christ Jesus.
Doing good to others is not going to give life to someone who is dead. Yes, it is helpful to lead someone to Christ, for it is God’s lovingkindness that led us to repentance. God is love so we love because He first loved us. We are to allow the love of Christ to be produced through us into the lives of others.
But truth is what sets people free. The truth must be told that you are a sinner, and that there is a consequence to sin, called death, and the only solution to death is life, and not just any life, but the resurrected life of Christ Jesus. Truth must be told of the gospel of Christ, that he died for our sins, so that sin was judged and the punishment of death was met for us through his blood shed on a cross. And then he rose again, so that now that sin and dead are out of the way, eternal life can be offered to mankind. That life, the resurrected life of Christ Jesus, must be received by faith.
Once that truth is told, and received by faith, we grow in the grace and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ. We come to understand more fully all that God has freely given us in Christ Jesus. What He gave to us is the Spirit of God living in us, the same Spirit in Christ Jesus, who is God in the flesh. It was a great price to God, but pure grace to us.
We come to realize we are no longer under the law of sin and death, that all our sins were forgiven, taken away, from the eyes of God, over 2000 years ago, never to be remembered or seen again by God. Therefore, when we walk by faith, we do not ask for forgiveness of sin, since that is something he already did for us. It is not faith to ask for something that in Him has already been done.
We come to realize what we already have in Him. We already have everything we need for life and godliness through the Spirit He has given us. So we do not ask for more of what we already have. We do not ask for more power, more love, more of the Spirit in our lives. That also would not be walking by faith. We access all that is in Christ – love, joy, peace, the fruit of the Spirit – and by abiding in Him, allow what is in Him to be borne out through our lives into the lives of others.
So we continue to have our mind renewed with truth through the scriptures He has given us, allowing the mind of Christ to teach us all things, relying on the Spirit, living in us, to reveal truth to us and guide us into all truth just as He promised us. We learn what it means to be a child of God, our new identity, as a new creation. We learn the difference between law and grace, that we have been made complete in Christ, and the difference between the old Covenant of law and the New Covenant of grace we are under today.
This renewing of the mind is something that will take place in us until the day we die. God is faithful to His promises and will complete the good work He began in us, from that first day we were born again, having the Holy Spirit sealed in us, with a promise of the redemption of our bodies. And then that day will come, where we shall be like Him for we shall see Him as He really is. We shall forever be in the presence of the Lord, absent from this body and living in a new glorious body like His, free from sickness, death and pain.
Transcript
Jeff from North Glen, Colorado
Jeff: This is pastor Jay in North Glen. I wanted to call and thank you. It has opened several doors to help people with issues. I wanted to encourage you to keep doing what you are doing.
Bob: Thank you, Jeff. I appreciate that. It is a joy to our hearts to know that there are men out there in the pulpits who have grabbed a hold of what we talked about. There is a world of difference to knowing what truth is and living according to it.
Jeff: Amen to that.
Bob: The nature of man is rebellious in regards to what God says about things. People erroneously teach that Jesus died only for the elect rather than to take away the sins of the entire world. God’s word is clear that God through Christ has taken away the sins of the world.
2 Corinthians 5:19
that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them.
Bob: The natural man is also deceived into thinking he can do good works to enter heaven. Yet, God’s word is clear that man is born spiritually dead and is unable to raise himself from the dead. The only life available to man is the life in Jesus Christ and that life must be received by faith in His resurrected life he has offered you.
Ephesians 2:8-9
8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith – and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God – 9 not by works, so that no one can boast.
Bob: So man is naturally rebellious to God. Man rebels in how God has initiated the means for us to even be saved, failing to accept that what he did to take away the entire sins of the world. Man also rebels against God’s offer of eternal life. Man would rather try and work for it instead, which is impossible for man to do. That rebellion is always there.
Bob: God is the initiator and we are the responders. People rebel in the way He tells us to respond, which is by faith, to the receiving of eternal life, the only means to enter the kingdom of heaven. Man rebels with trying to enter by works. That rebellion is always there. People rebel in both ways, either in what He has initiated or how we are to respond to what He initiated.
Jeff: I know my heart rebelled for most of my life. I thank God that He has the grace to allow me to do that until it came to the point in my life where I trusted Him.
Bob: He who is forgiven much loves much.
Jeff: In my former life the biggest struggle was that I could not let God love me. In my sin and my disobedience, I could not understand how anybody would love me. My own father did not even love me, and with that was so much hurt and the emptiness. When I finally let God love me, my whole life changed. That is why I am in the ministry, to share that with others.
Bob: That is phenomenal. We wish you the best in Colorado. If we can ever be of any help, you let us know. Do not wait so long to call next time. We are glad to hear from you.
Jeff: You keep up the good work. I know a lot of times you say the same thing day in and day out. There is always a different audience and someday it will click. Just keep it up.
Bob: Well, thanks, Jeff. God bless you, my friend. You too.
Ted from Eugene, OR
Ted: It is nice to be home, back from Iraq.
Bob: You do not miss the sand?
Ted: Not a bit.
Bob: Glad to have you back, Tedd.
Ted: Thank you. Thanks to all the listeners and those who supported sending books over to me while I was deployed in Iraq. It was such a blessing to have a bible study with the soldiers, studying Victory over Depression and Classic Christianity. They were having a good time in those studies.
Bob: Keep in touch with us and we will help any way we can. It is good to know you started a movement over there.
Ted: It is good sharing truth. I am still in the national guard in Oregon, and will be until December. I am currently back home safe and sound. I am engaged to be married, remodeling a rental house where we will live, and applying for a job at a fire department in town.
Bob: That is great. We enjoyed your visit with us, and many were blessed because of your testimony. Those guys continually need to be prayed for. That part of the world is getting old hat. We need to rejuvenate that. There are still men over there sacrificing their lives so people can have freedom. It is a big assignment. God bless you. You keep in touch.
Vernon from Phoenix, AZ
Vernon: For the last three years I have been listening to you. It totally changed my life. Each and every morning I used to pray to God to forgive me of my sins. Then I realized I do not need to do that anymore. He already has.
Bob: It is so good to understand truth you can stand in. It is not faith to ask God to do what He has already done.
Vernon: I know
Bob: How we ever came up with the idea that is faith, I do not know.
Vernon: I first came to Jesus at ten or eleven years old. A man came to my house and asked me to vacation bible school. They were good, but they were a little wrong. They would say, “Ask God to forgive you every day.” But I realized after talking to you that He had already forgiven me.
Bob: We ought to be thanking Him for what He has already accomplished, instead of acting as if He did not accomplish it and thinking our asking will bring it about.
Vernon: Exactly. You are totally right. You changed my thinking. I love God and I am saved and I am reborn and I thank God every day.
Bob: I appreciate your encouraging call, Vernon, and you just keep growing in grace.
James from Villageville, GA
James: What makes a young man think he is a homosexual?
Bob: You have to ask a young man on that type of thing. I do not have a clue. What scripture says about homosexuality in Romans is that they cease to retain the knowledge of God and God turns them over to their own lusts. That basically is the pathway to homosexuality. It says so in Romans 1.
Romans 1:18
18 The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people, who suppress the truth by their wickedness
Bob: That involves suppressing truth.
Romans 1:21-22
21 For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools
Bob: There is that whole progression, of not retaining the truth of God and exchanging the truth of God for a lie.
Romans 1:25-26
25 They exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator26 Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts.
Bob: Because of the exchanging of the truth for a lie, and not thinking it necessary to retain the knowledge of God, God gave them over to shameful lusts. In the bible, you have natural relations and unnatural ones. You do not have to be a rocket scientist to figure out what he is talking about.
Romans 1:26-28
Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones. 27 In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error. 28 Furthermore, just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, so God gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done.
Bob: So, it starts with those things, James. You can sit back and talk about all kinds of psychological things. But the bible says it comes from not thinking it wise to retain the knowledge of God and exchanging the truth of God for a lie.
Bob: When you are a man and think hairy legs are more appealing than a woman’s, do not tell me that is natural. You are exchanging the truth of God for a lie. Today, it is more prevalent because people are out in the open talking about it. Even in schools, people are saying it is okay, as an option or as alternatives we have, but that is not what the bible says. You cannot be propagated. It will not come from a marriage relationship, so you have to be recruited. Women get into homosexuality after a relationship. In other words, they are looking for a relationship and they cannot seem to have one with men, so another woman seems to understand her better. Invariably, there is one who comes along who is bent toward homosexuality and continually recruiting. They are more slow in their approach. With a man, it is just sex. A man gets recruited into that, a lot of times at young ages. To me, James, what is so terrible is there are so many people there to take advantage of that, working in the YMCS, in scout troops, priests, people working in churches, working around choirs. You have got to watch who is around your children because somebody there, many times, who is going to try to recruit a child into homosexuality, from that point on, and once the first act occurs. I do not think anyone sitting around, as a young child, is thinking about that, but they are thinking about the fact they have sexual desires and would like to have them fulfilled. And if a person can convince you that that is what you are, a homosexual, that is what starts out this thinking of exchanging the truth for a lie. But ultimately you have to make a decision to believe that.
James: Do you think it can come from past childhood experiences?
Bob: Absolutely. Anything can come from past childhood experiences. Little boys, they are exploratory. A lot of times, at least what I can understand, there are a lot children who get together, they are not thinking about homosexuality, not even in their mind, yet engaged in things that can be perceived that way. Once done, I can do it again. If you can think about doing, you can end up doing it.
Bob: But it comes to a point, that just because you have may have been in homosexuality, as a child, or whoever it might be with, of somebody of your own sex, that does not mean you are a homosexual. If that has occurred, thank God for His forgiveness, come to the Lord Jesus Christ and become a new creation. Whatever you have done in the past, you are able to come into the fact of being a new creation in Christ Jesus. That does not mean those memories cannot pop back, but you do not have to give into memories.
James: So you are saying I need to get with the Lord?
Bob: Yes, that is exactly right, James. It says in scripture that if any man be in Christ, he is a new creation. All new.
2 Corinthians 5:17
17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!
Bob: Whatever you have done in your life, James, over 2000 years ago, Jesus went to a cross and took away that sin away in the eyes of God. No man will go to hell because of his sins.
John 16:9
9 The world’s sin is unbelief in me
Bob: The sins of the world were all placed on Christ Jesus, and there he who knew no sin became sin for you and me so that in his resurrected life we may become the righteousness of God.
2 Corinthians 5:21
21 God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
Bob: So whatever you have done in the past or the future, those sins have been placed on Christ Jesus never to be seen again in the eyes of God. The only sin that is attributable to man is the sin of the rejection of the son of God who provided that for you. If someone has provided something for you, and you refused the provision, then that is unpardonable, isn’t it? The only unpardonable sin is the sin of the rejection of Christ Jesus. It is vitally important to hold onto truth. I need to hold onto the truth about me and my condition. Then I am to hold onto the truth about God’s provision for me. The bible says you are a sinner, manifesting itself in all kinds of perverted ways. He says he took that sin away at the cross. Jesus said, “Come to me for life”.
Colossians 2:13
13 When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins,
John 10:10b
10 I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.
Bob: The life he wants to give you is His life, living in you, which is your only hope of glory.
Colossians 1:27
27 Christ in your hearts is your only hope of glory
Bob: A light bulb without electricity cannot function. A car without gasoline cannot function. You, without God living in you, cannot function the way God intended you to. He wants you to come to him for life, to grow in Him and let God take your life and let Him direct you in a new path, set free from that you have been bound. Would you like to do that tonight, James?
James: Yes, sir.
Bob: James, I will pray with you. You are saved by faith, by faith in the fact that God says, James, you are a sinner. And you agree with that. And He took that sin way. And you agree with Him. James, there is the consequence to sin, called death, and the only solution to death is life. Jesus came to give you that life through his resurrection. James, do you want that life? When the answer to that is yes, then that faith brings about salvation. That can be expressed in prayer. What I would like for us to do right now, James, is to pray together. I will say a prayer, having you repeat after me. The main thing is that when you pray it is real in your own heart.
Bob led James in a prayer, and James repeated after him.
Lord Jesus, I need you. I thank you for taking away all my sins, all of them, at the cross 2000 years ago. You took them away from the eyes of God. You were then raised from the dead so that life that raised you from the dead can raise me from the dead. You told me I am dead in my sins and you came to give me life. I now receive your life into my heart to be my Lord and my Savior. In Jesus name, amen.
John 1:12
12 Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God
Bob: James, now based on the word of God, as many as have received him, and that is what you did.
James: Yes sir.
Bob: to them he gave the right to become a child of God. You are a child of God.
James: I am a child of God.
Bob: You are now a child of God. So what does that make us? Brothers, doesn’t it?
James: Yes sir.
Bob: Do you feel like any burden has been lifted?
James: I feel more relaxed.
Bob: We stumble over this all our lives. For over 36 years, I was looking for something. And if you do not know what you are looking for, then you go to all kinds of things to fill that void, some to drugs or alcohol. Everybody has their own niche of what they do to fill that void, that emptiness inside of us. The difference between you right now, and you 10 minutes ago, was James without the Spirit of God living in you, and now the Spirit of God is living in you. You have been made complete in Christ. There is the difference between before and after and you are a new creation now. You have now been given the grace and goodness of God to teach you to say no to unrighteousness.
Titus 2:11-13
11 For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. 12 It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, 13 while we wait for the blessed hope – the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ,
Bob: So the Spirit in you teaches you to say no to unrighteousness. You begin to change your thinking and when your thinking changes your life begins to change. Do you have a bible, James?
James: Yes, I have a New American Standard bible.
Bob: I will send you a bible study for you to work through. It will tell you to look up certain passages and you read those scriptures and let the Spirit explain in your heart what has happened in you today. God has given you the promise that he will never leave you or forsake you.
Hebrews 13:5
5 God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.”
Bob: No matter what you go through, God will be right there with you. You will have memories and temptations. It is not a sin to have temptations or memories. You do not have to give into them. It is a sin to give into them. The Spirit will tell you that what you are doing is not consistent with who you are. You have been given everything you need for life and godliness and you will understand that you do not need that old lifestyle anymore.
Bob: We praise the Lord for you. You have a new family across the country. You have friends here at People to People (now called Bob George Ministries) to call, that you can call at any time you have questions. If you are struggling to understand something or struggle with temptation, then call us. That is what we are here for. We are your friends and we want to be your brother in Christ, okay?
James: Okay.
2 Peter 1:3
3 His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence
Romans 12:2
2 Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
