You Were Reconciled at the Cross ~ Forgiveness Was Completed at the Cross

~ For if, when we were enemies of God, we were reconciled to Him through the death of His Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through His life! Romans 5:10

~ It is very important for us to understand that forgiveness is NOT something we get, it is something that we ALL have been given. As we have stated numerous times, nobody gets their sins forgiven today. For without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness, and we know Jesus is never going to die again. Yet the preaching from most people today is to come to Jesus to get your sins forgiven. Or ask for more forgiveness, or forgive in order to get forgiven by God. And they will even use the book of Acts to say, see Peter said “perhaps” God will forgive you. And yet we see in the book of Acts there were a lot of other things said, that are not doctrine at all either. There was circumcision and baptism of water talked about. There was giving ALL your worldly possessions in the early church as a group, and then it is dispensed from there. There were those in the early church that were swayed by Legalism, even Peter got caught up in the wrong crowd of the Legalism group that though the gentiles had to be circumcised in order to be saved. The point is, the book of Acts showed what was going on in the early church, and there were many things said that were in opposition to the TRUTH. And it took many of them to be corrected by the Holy Spirit and other believers to come to a proper understanding of what the whole Truth was.

So, today, much like back then, we have false doctrines that need to be corrected by the word of God and His Holy Spirit renewing each of our minds, to teach us ALL Truth. We are to trust in Him, and Him alone for the final authority of the word of God. And we have at our fingertips the ability to look at the Greek and Hebrew words to see if things are so or not so. And do NOT trust any interpretations alone, for Satan has corrupted the meaning of words today, so that we think a word means something else other than what the true meaning of the word really is in the scriptures. It’s like the word translated as “confess,” which means to agree with, NOT to ask for forgiveness. Or other words have been replaced to the actual Greek words. For another example, Jesus did NOT atone for sin, but He took sin away. Yet most of the translations will use the English word atone, when speaking of what Jesus did at the cross. So the point is, don’t trust any translation, but go and look at the Greek for yourself. Look at how the words are used in other areas of the scriptures. Be as a Berean, and check things out to see if they are as they appear to be. And in everything, keep the proper foundation, Jesus, God in flesh, took away the sins of the world, and God is no longer counting anyone’s sins against them.

Consider having a Bible study yourself and teaching one or two others the Truth of the word of God. Those with ears, they will want to hear. We have many excellent Bible study books that are very easy to use that involve simply reading the word of God and answering the questions provided. The answers themselves are right there in the word of God.

Lord Jesus, teach me the TRUTH of the world we live in today and the Truth of You.

~ “That passage of scripture where he says, perhaps he’ll forgive you for such a thought, That’s what Peter said. That’s not doctrine. The book of Acts is not a doctrinal book. Look what it says up earlier they arrived and prayed for them that they might receive the Holy Spirit. Because the Holy Spirit had not come upon them, they had better been baptized into the name of Jesus. And back in chapter 19, it talks about the fact that they were baptized in the name of Jesus and was saved. So the book of Acts is not a doctrinal book. It’s just merely a recording of what was said and what was done. So you cannot take doctrine out of the book of Acts. If you do, you’re going to have to go sell everything that you have ever earned and lay it at the feet of the apostles and then live, live off of what is given to you. And I don’t think there’s too many people doing that, but that, but they did it in the early church. So I just when you start to think about what this, this, this guy was doing, and he was a scoundrel. Simon was a total scoundrel, wanting to buy the Holy Spirit. And they said, may your money perish with you, because you thought you could buy the gift of God with money you have no part or share in this ministry because your heart is not right before God. In other words, he hadn’t been saved. Repent of this wickedness and pray to the Lord, perhaps he’ll forgive you for having such a thought. I don’t see anything wrong with in that early situation. I think he’s saying, perhaps he’ll forgive you. Peter knew that Jesus forgave the sins of the world, but I think he was getting this guy’s attention, but regardless, that’s what he said, but it’s not doctrine.” ~ Bob George
