Classic Christianity – Book of Hebrews P12 (09-25-23)

Before The Foundation of the Earth God Had an Exact Plan

~ Jesus did not arrive by accident on Earth. God knew exactly what He was doing, and when it would be done, to a split second. Nothing was by happenstance. The word of God declares it All, before it even occurred with explicit details for us to read and hear today. That is God’s knowledge written down for us to understand for today. Why is this important? Because the word of God declares who Jesus is, what he came to do, when he would be born, how he would die, and His return too. Everything is written down for our benefit. We know the plan of God. Pay attention to the details, for ALL details matter when it comes to the word of God. Every single word and jot and tittle matter according to the word of God.

~ Whoever has ears, let them hear.”

The disciples came to him and asked, “Why do you speak to the people in parables?”

He replied, “Because the knowledge of the secrets of the kingdom of heaven has been given to you, but not to them. Whoever has will be given more, and they will have an abundance. Whoever does not have, even what they have will be taken from them. This is why I speak to them in parables:

“Though seeing, they do not see;

though hearing, they do not hear or understand.

In them is fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah:

“ ‘You will be ever hearing but never understanding;

you will be ever seeing but never perceiving.

For this people’s heart has become calloused;

they hardly hear with their ears,

and they have closed their eyes.

Otherwise they might see with their eyes,

hear with their ears,

understand with their hearts

and turn, and I would heal them.’

But blessed are your eyes because they see, and your ears because they hear. For truly I tell you, many prophets and righteous people longed to see what you see but did not see it, and to hear what you hear but did not hear it. Matthew 13:9-17

~ “Now let’s just go back and see is there a decree? Let’s go back to Nehemiah. We all got it? Nehemiah two. In the month of Nissan in the 20th year of King Artaxerxes. When wine was brought for him, I took the wine and gave it to the king. Nehemiah was a servant of King Artaxerxes. I had not been sad in his presence before so the king asked me Why does your face look so sad when you’re not ill? That’s a good question, isn’t it? Can this can be nothing but sadness of heart. Maybe had a chemical imbalance I’m not sure. Sadness of heart. I was very much afraid. But I said to the king, May the king live forever. Why should my face not look sad when the city where my father’s are buried lies in ruins, and its gates have been destroyed by fire. The king said to me, what is it that you want? Then I prayed to the God of heaven. And I answered the king, If it pleases the king, and if your servant is found favor any sight, let him send me to the city and Judah where my fathers are buried so that I can rebuild it. Then the king with the queen sitting beside him asked me, How long will your journey take and when will you get back? It please the king to send me so I set a time. I also said to him if it pleases the king, may I have letters to the governors of Trans-Euphrates so that they will provide me safe conduct until until I arrive in Judah and may I have a letter to Asap keeper of the kings forests so that he will give me timber and make beams for the gates by the temple and for the city wall and for the residents I will occupy? Man He not only asked for permission he he was getting all of his materials in advance. And because the gracious hand of my God was upon me, the king granted my request. So I went to the governor of Trans-Euphrates and gave them the Kings letters, the king had also sent an army officers and Calvary with me. So a decree was made by King Artaxerxes to His Prophet Nehemiah to rebuild and restore Jerusalem.” ~ Bob George

Know and understand this. Here’s the deal from the issuing of the decree to restore and rebuild Jerusalem until the Anointed One. In other words, until Messiah the Prince as King James puts it, between the time the issuing of the decree to restore and rebuild Jerusalem until Messiah the Prince comes, there will be seven sevens and 62 sevens. Now, there is your seven sevens, that’s what? How many years? 49 years, and 62 sevens which is 434 years. It will be rebuilt with streets and a trench, but in times of trouble. After the 62 sevens, the Anointed One will be cut off and he will have nothing. The people of the ruler who will come, there’s your Titus army will destroy the city and the sanctuary and the end will come like a flood.

Now let’s take a look because we’re going to be dealing with these seven weeks these 49 years and these 62 weeks these 434 years. Let’s go back. First of all, let’s just stop here for a minute. And I want us to think through what’s been read there. According to this prophecy, you are to know and to discern, he said, from the issuing of a decree to restore and rebuild Jerusalem, in other words, Jerusalem was flattened, it’s gone, there’s going to be a decree that has to be issued by the king by some king, sometime in the future, to restore and to rebuild Jerusalem. And it says, from the issuing of that decree to restore and build Jerusalem, until Messiah the Prince comes, there will be seven weeks, and 62 weeks, in other words, a total of 69 weeks, or 483 years, if you add those two together. Now think about it for a minute, let’s go what had to occur before Messiah the Prince would come then? There was a total prediction that the Messiah was going to come. We already know that, according to prophecy, the Messiah has to come. Before the Messiah comes, what had to occur? What’s the first thing that had to occur? The issuing of what? Of a decree. And what was the nature of that decree? That before the Messiah came, you’re going to be talking about an issue of had to be a decree had to be issued to restore and rebuild Jerusalem. And from that point on, the Messiah is going to come in what amounts to 483 years, that’s pretty specific isn’t it. I mean, that’s pretty good. In 483 years, after the the restoration of Jerusalem, Jesus is going to come, the Messiah is going to come. That’s pretty good prophecy. Now back in those days, unlike today, I wish sometimes they were still doing that. But Prophets got stoned, who gave out bad information. Today, most of what I hear, I think are stone before they get out information, but I’m not sure about that. Now back to their the weeks in Daniel, that’s the very same Hebrew word that we talked about that was used in the book of Genesis, where Jacob, remember worked for Leah and for Rachel, that was one week each that was seven years. Then it was there for saying then that in this span from the issuance of this commandment to build the city until Messiah, the Prince, there would be a total of 483 years it would be broken down in two segments, one 49 years and one 434 years.

Now let’s just go back and see is there a decree? So a decree was made by King Artaxerxes to His Prophet Nehemiah to rebuild and restore Jerusalem.

Well, that’s interesting isn’t it? Now, though, so we have to figure well, we now know that in the Scripture, there was a decree that was made to restore and to rebuild Jerusalem. And it said that that was made in the month of Nissan in the 20th. year of the reign of King Artaxerxes. Now, friends, that is historical fact. And so, King Artaxerxes, by history itself, reigned 40 years. He reigned from 465 BC to 425 BC. So the 20th year of the reign of King Arthur Xerxes, as the prophesy said, was 445 BC, the Hebrew month of Nissan is equivalent to our month of March. And the first of Nissan in 445 BC, fell on March the 14th. Now, this information was collected by the Royal Observatory in Greenwich, England, as they traced back these things to the actual time. So we therefore know by absolute historical fact that the king Artaxerxes decree to rebuild Jerusalem was given to Nehemiah on March the 14th 445 BC. That’s even is not up for debate. That’s a historical fact that you could go back to historical record and determine. So on 445 BC, the decree was issued to restore Jerusalem. Now guess how many years it took to do that? How many years do you think it took to restore and to rebuild Jerusalem? Well, it took 49 years, the first seven of sevens in which the prophecy said at the end of that time, at the end of that 70 of sevens, what was going to happen? Well, it’s said that you’re going to be, it’s going to be cut off. 70 sevens are decreed for your people and your holy city to finish transgression, put an end to sin, to atone for wickedness, bring in everlasting righteousness, seal up a vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most holy. Well, that’s through that period of time, that the end of the building and restoration of, of Jerusalem is at the end of the Old Testament. And from that point on, you had total silent years, for a period of 434 years until Messiah came. It was called the silent years, Jerusalem, Israel was rebuilt in 49 years, the first seven of sevens. And that’s, that’s the end of it, you don’t hear anymore. The book of Micah, you don’t hear any more, until the coming of the Messiah 443 years later. Two prophecies seven of seven, 49 years. That’s how long it took to build and restore Jerusalem 434 years from the final restoration, until the coming of the Messiah was going to be exactly 443 more years.

Now, let’s see how that works out in experience. The Biblical Hebrew calendar that was used by Daniel, unlike our calendar today had 360 days a year in it rather than our 365. So if you take 483 years, times 360 days, you come up with 173,880 days. So we know something. From the time of the issuance of the decree by somebody, this was 170 years prior to anything going on 473 from the issuance of the decree to restore and rebuild Jerusalem until the Messiah was going to come was going to be 173,880 days. Now once again, historical fact proves that in the 20th year of the reign of current king Artaxerxes equated to March 14, 445 BC. You go forward 173,880 days and you come to April 6, 32 AD, which is the day that Jesus made His triumphal entry into Jerusalem declaring himself as the Messiah. Not a bad prophecy, isn’t it. Rejoice greatly. It says in Zachariah Oh daughter of Zion shout in triumph, Oh daughter of Jerusalem, Behold, your King is coming to you, He is just and endowed with salvation humble and mounted on a donkey. Even on a coat the foul of a donkey. Zachariah prophesied hundreds of years before April 6, 32 AD, that the Messiah humble in spirit, full of salvation. Endowed with salvation humble, mounted on a donkey would enter and announce his kingdom. Who would ever think a king would go and announce His kingdom on a donkey? Prophesied hundreds of years before the event. My friends, Jesus did not come by accident. It was all in the mind and the heart of the plan of God before the foundation of the earth. It was announced prophetically and confirmed by Gabriel, the angel, to the prophet Daniel. exactly to the date when Jesus was going to come to this earth. It’s not accidental. It’s real.

Well, what happened after that? Let’s take a look at Daniel 9:26. You don’t have to turn back here if you don’t want to. I’ll read it to you. It says then after the 62 weeks, after that occurs after his triumphal entry into Jerusalem which was just a few days prior to the cross, the Messiah, it says Daniel 9:26, folks, hundreds of years before the event, the Messiah will be cut off and have nothing. And the people of the prince to come will destroy the city and the sanctuary. So Nehemiah, in 445 BC, the 49 years to restore and to rebuild the city of Jerusalem. And 434 years later, it was destroyed again. So after his triumphal entry into Jerusalem, April 6, Christ was cut off, wasn’t he? He was crucified. And as we said, in 70 AD, the Roman king Titus, and the legions of his armies attacked and completely destroyed the city of Jerusalem. And prophecy was totally fulfilled. Do you know anyone that could have fulfilled that prophecy, except Jesus? That’s a good question isn’t it. And when you look at that prophecy, and you ask a person who is a student of the Old Testament, who else do you think, could have fulfilled that prophecy? You don’t get anything but a blank stare back at you. The grass weathers the flower fades, but the word of our God stands forever.

My friends, that is exactly why that you and I hold in our hands today, the most precious, valuable asset that we can ever hope to have. We can go out and buy a Mercedes. Or we can go out and buy a Rolls Royce. Or we can go out and buy a million dollar home. And that asset is nothing compared to this book, that we have the privilege of holding in our hands. It contains the word of God. The whole book is pointed toward Jesus. The prophecies are pointed toward Jesus. The whole Old Testament and the dealing with Israel was preparing them for Jesus to come, their Messiah. The whole thing was put together in such a way that there’s no accidents. That’s why Jesus said no man takes my life from me. I lay it down on my own. It’s exactly why we can also see other prophecies in regard to his death and his resurrection. You remember on the cross, the Lord Jesus Christ, hung on a cross. And he cried out, My God, My God, why have you forsaken me? And people say, Why did he say that? And all Jesus was doing with those words, was pointing us back to Psalm 22. That was written 1000 years prior to that event of the cross. Where you read a prophecy that starts out My God, My God, why have You forsaken me? And it goes ahead in that 22nd Psalm to describe in detail the Lord’s then on the cross. Verse seven, and eight, those who see me snare at me. They separate with their lips, they wag their head saying, commit yourself to the Lord, let him deliver you. Did that happen at the cross? Of course. They set there and mocked him. And it hasn’t said okay, big guy, you saved others why don’t you save yourself. prophesied 1000 years before, folks, not only is what you’ll see here miraculous in prophecy, but there was no such thing a death by crucifixion when that was written, the Jews killed people by stoning them to death. Never by hanging them on the cross. The cross was brought in by the Romans as a Roman method of death, not by the Jews. And yet 1000 years without knowledge of death on a cross is a description of a death on a cross. In the 22nd Psalm, it says, I’m poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint. And my heart is like wax. It’s melted within me. That’s one of the things that happens with death by crucifixion is you are hanging suspended in such a way that the weight of your body projects out from the cross, and you’re hanging there, suffocating, gasping for air. And the, and the desperation is you’ve got to pull in order to raise up your lungs in order to get breath. And your bones go out of joint and it prophesized that. In verse 15, my strength is dried up like potsherd, and my tongue cleaves to my jaw. And thow does lay me in the dust of death in the Lord, if you remember cried out, I thirst, I thirst. Verse 16, and 17. They pierced My hands, and my feet. I can count all my bones. They look and they stare at me. The cross of Jesus Christ is where his hands and his feet were pierced, nailed to a cross. And in that position, for sure, could count the bones. And they stared at him and they mocked him. Verse 18, They divide my garments among them. And for my clothing, they cast lots. 1000 years before the death of Christ, Christ, prophesying that they either were going to gamble even got a gamble for my clothes. Well, was that fulfilled? What they do at the cross? Well they gambled for his club, just like the Psalms said.

And so my friends, you see every one of these prophecies that were fulfilled. You take a look at Isaiah 53, written 700 years before Christ. And you see in verse one and two, Isaiah 53, once again how this book deals with the person of Christ, the Messiah more than all other Old Testament books. And once again, look what it says about him. Who has believed our message, and to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed? For he grew up before him like a tender shoot, and like a root out of parched ground. He has no stately form, or majesty that we should look upon Him nor appearance that we should be attracted to him. He was despised and forsaken of men, a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief. And like one from whom men hide their face. He was despised, and we did not esteem Him. Were those prophecies fulfilled? Yes. John 12. It says, Through Jesus, he performed many signs before Him and yet they were not believing in him that the word of Isaiah the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spoke Lord, who has believed our report and who was the arm of the Lord been revealed? John says he came into his own but his own received Him not. Despised and forsaken by a man? Absolutely. Pilate said to them, What shall we do with Jesus who is called Christ? They said, let him be crucified. Pilate said, why? What evil Is he done? But they kept shouting, all the more saying, let him be crucified. And when Pilate saw that he was accomplishing nothing, but rather a riot was starting, he took water and he washed his hands from the multitude and said, I’m an innocent of this man’s blood. See, to see that, do it yourselves. And all the people answered and said his blood be on us and our children. Let him be crucified, despise forsaken of men. Isaiah for Chapter four. Surely our griefs He Himself bore, and our sorrows He carried. Was that fulfill? Yes, it was. It said he released Barabbas from them and Jesus he scourged and delivered over to be crucified, the soldiers of the governor took Jesus and gathered the whole Roman cord around him and they stripped him and put a scarlet robe on him. And after weaving a crown of thorns, they put it on his head and reed in his right hand and they kneel down before Him and mocked him saying Hail King of the Jews, and they spit on him and it took a reed and began to beat him on the head. And after they had mocked him, they took his robe off of his garments on put his garments back on him and let him way to crucified. He bore our sins. It goes ahead 700 years before the fact and in verse five, he was pierced through for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities. The chasting of our well being fell upon him and by His scourging we are healed. And that is spiritually. He was oppressed, says and was afflicted yet he did not open his mouth like a lamb that has led to slaughter and like a sheep that is silent before the shears so he did not open his mouth. Remember in Matthew it says that while he was being accused by the chief priests and the elders, he made no answer. Pilate said to him, don’t you hear how many things they testify against you? He did not answer him with regard to even a single charge. So the governor was quite amazed. Isaiah said, 700 years before, anyone that opened his mouth.
