Say Thank You to God for What He Has Done For You

A number of callers called in on today’s program dealing with some heart felt issues of life.

The first caller, Hans called from Eugene, Oregon. He was dealing with cancer related issues and wanted to know what the word of God had to say on certain treatments that may affect a person’s thinking. Bob gives some insights into this with him and also talks about some people that Bob knew that were friends of his that were dealing with similar things themselves. Listen in as Bob shares these things with Hans. Bob also mentioned how doctors try to scare people today and Bob says that he is not scared and tells doctors right to their face in regards to that. It is hard to get an honest answer from doctors today.

The second caller, Jesse called from Atlanta, Georgia. He had a question into sharing with his mentally challenged son about Jesus. Bob mentions that we are to share the gospel with them the same way we share with anyone else. We are all going to die physically someday, and I want to tell you about Jesus. Don’t assume that someone can not understand the gospel, but tell them matter-of-factly what Jesus has done for them. Listen in as Jesse and Bob discuss this in greater detail.

The next caller was Joe from Bay City, Texas. Joe had a question in regards to being dead to the law, dead to sin. And then some people equate that to being dead to sinning. Bob clears this up and points out to Joe, that we are not dead to sinning. We are dead to the law of sin and death. We are dead to the law. We are dead to sin. Sin no longer has any power over the believer. Romans 5, 6, 7 and 8 are excellent for everything on living the Christian life. Listen in as Bob shares these important truths.

The next caller was Mike calling from Colorado. He wanted to bring up Psalm 66:18 to the table. Bob mentions we don’t live in the old testament anymore. In fact, there are things in the old testament that it would be foolish and not of faith to even pray for. We have to recognize which side of the new covenant we live on and understand that what is presented in the old testament does not necessarily mean that it is valid for today. For example, one of David’s prayers was that he prayed that the Holy Spirit would not leave him. Now, we would not pray that prayer today because as a born again believer the Holy Spirit will never leave us. So it is important to understand where we are at (in the new covenant) and to read in the context of living under the new covenant today. We don’t live under the old covenant.

Mike was still struggling what to do when he sinned. He wanted to keep asking for forgiveness, as though the Holy Spirit was convicting him of those sins.

Bob pointed out that the Holy Spirit is not convicting the person of sin, because God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit have put those sins behind their back never to be brought up again. Now we are to say thank you to God for that sin having been forgiven on the cross and it was taken away completely. So why would the Holy Spirit go back on the word of God and keep bringing up to those things that He said He is not counting against you? We spend the rest of our lives thanking Him for what He has done for us. We don’t keep asking Him for what He has already done. We live in the new Life that He has given us. We live in the new life of Christ Jesus.
