Your Sins Were Taken Away at the Cross ~ Are You Placing Faith in That?

~ Your sins have been forgiven! Obedience to the word of God is clear today. There is only one way to God, and that is through Jesus the Christ. Jesus took away all your sins on the cross. Are you being obedient to that in the word of God or are you placing faith in your own self efforts? Are you rightly dividing the word of God, or are you trying to gain God’s favor based on self righteousness, self effort, and trying to obey God’s law, which incidentally God calls all your self righteousness efforts as filthy rags? [ref. Isaiah 64:6] One way and only one way is anyone declared righteous in the sight of God. Faith in Jesus! That is true obedience.

~ “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” ^{Romans 6:23}

~ “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.” ^{Romans 5:8,9}

~ Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death. For what the law was powerless to do because it was weakened by the flesh, God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh to be a sin offering. And so he condemned sin in the flesh, in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. ^{Romans 8:1-4}

~ “…You need to get clear in regard to that you weren’t a Christian because you didn’t obey [in regard to the law] because it’s nonsense. You see, the issue is that you are dead, spiritually, you are born into this world, dead in your sins, when you are dead in your sins and uncircumcision of your sinful nature. God made you alive with Christ. Now, again, don’t agree too fast. But listen to what I’m saying, Sure, your sins had to be taken away at the Cross forever from the eyes of God, that was an eternal act at the cross in order to give you life, because had he not taken away sin, which is the cause of spiritual death. Or he had a forgotten one, and you committed it, and he had given you life, you would have lost that life, right then because the wages of sin is death. And so you’re not saved by the cross, you’re saved by the resurrection. And that’s why the verse I just quoted to the other gentleman as while we were yet enemies, we were reconciled to God, through the death of his Son, that’s what the Cross did was reconciled, took away our sins. Now, how much more having been reconciled, shall you be saved by His life? It’s the resurrection that saves us. And that’s why Paul said, without the resurrection were to be pitied of all people that are still in our sins. And the whole emphasis of the New Testament was come to him for life, I’m the resurrection in the life, who has the sun has life, who does not have the sun does not have life. All of those passages of Scripture teach what salvation is, it’s coming alive in Christ Jesus. It has nothing to do with what you did. It has something only to do with what you believed and and repented of your sin of unbelief, and came to Him by faith. So that’s how you’re saved, you’re not saved, because you were, if any, no man would ever be declared righteous in the sight of God, through obedience to the law, so you weren’t saved through obedience, and you’re not sustained through obedience, you’re sustained because in him. You’re sustained because of his faithfulness to you. And so making a statement that you found out that you weren’t saved because you weren’t living in obedience is kind of a dangerous one, because you’re still not living in total obedience to God, when you take a look at what he says is, the only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love. And you take a look at First Corinthians 13, which is God’s definition of love and say, in my daily walk, I am always patient with everybody. I’m always kind, I never keep records of people’s wrongs. I don’t need to go on, we’ve lost it. And so the issue is that, that what we’re doing is allowing Jesus now who lives in me to produce those kinds of things in and through me, because there’s nothing in my flesh capable of producing those things. I cannot do that through self effort. I have to do that with an attitude of surrender. So when you’re dealing with when you’re dealing with obedience, True obedience is what Jesus said was obedience. And that is, when Jesus said, here on Earth, here he is God, he said, I don’t do anything unless the Father tells me to do it. And I don’t say anything unless the Father tells me to say it and how to say it. So he lived in total dependency upon his Father, and then said to you and me, as a Father sent me, so send I you go, do likewise. So when we’re talking about living in dependency, that is what God is looking for us is living in an attitude of total dependency upon the Spirit of God who lives in me to live his life and and through me. Now, when I’m doing that, then I can’t have a dependency at all in myself, I have no confidence in my own flesh to do anything except fail. But I have total confidence on the Spirit of God who lives in me that if I will yield to him. And if I walk by faith in him, he’ll produce that in and through me just like a vine and a branch. That a branch abiding in the vine, the life of the vine will produce the fruit in the branch, but the branch can not produce it, it can only bear it can only bear the fruit. So I just got I wanted to straighten that out just a little bit, because I’m not saying that you weren’t a Christian then or now, but I’m saying don’t equate being a Christian with walking in total obedience. otherwise there wouldn’t be any Christians except Jesus.” ~ Bob George
