Jesus Was in The Tomb, Three Days AND Three Nights

~ Again, details matter in everything with the word of God. Jesus was in the tomb for three days and three nights. They were not partial days and partial nights as has been taught by the majority of pastors and teachers because of the traditions of man. We overlook the details, and automatically assume that on a Friday was when Jesus was crucified and died and was buried. But that is NOT the case. Listen in as Bob and Aaron discuss this in detail. And a reminder, the word of God in the original language is also key. Many times the very words have been changed by man down through the years that the true meaning of words have actually been changed in meaning in our minds. Not everything is as it seems to be. Trust in no man, but always, ask the Holy Spirit to give you wisdom in all that you read and hear in these last days. For details matter in everything, including the very words we use to describe something from the word of God.

~ Now it was the day of Preparation, and the next day was to be a special Sabbath. Because the Judaean [Ἰουδαῖοι (Ioudaioi)] leaders did not want the bodies left on the crosses during the Sabbath, they asked Pilate to have the legs broken and the bodies taken down. ^{John 19:31}

~ Then some of the scribes and Pharisees answered, saying, “Teacher, we want to see a sign from You.” But He answered and said to them, “An evil and adulterous generation seeks after a sign, and no sign will be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah. For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the great fish, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. ^{Matthew 12:38-40}

~ On the next day, which followed the Day of Preparation, the chief priests and Pharisees gathered together to Pilate, saying, “Sir, we remember, while He was still alive, how that deceiver said, ‘After three days I will rise.’ Therefore command that the tomb be made secure until the third day, lest His disciples come by night and steal Him away, and say to the people, ‘He has risen from the dead.’ So the last deception will be worse than the first.” ^{Matthew 27:62-64}

~ Jesus answered and said to them, “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.” Then the Judaeans [Ἰουδαῖοι (Ioudaioi)] said, “It has taken forty-six years to build this temple, and will You raise it up in three days?” But He was speaking of the temple of His body. ^{John 2:19-21}

Caller: Aaron:
~ “Yes, the biggest challenge that exists in In accounting for all three days and three nights, has to do with a misunderstanding of the Passover, in this innocence carried on a great deal, even through a traditions that are being promoted today that, for example, the Passover Seders that most people are participating in, they’re presented as if they are actually Passover meals, and they really are not, they’re actually a day late and a law short. That’s pretty good. They’re actually the first day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread. The Passover meal has not been in participated in since the temple was destroyed. And so there are some accounting issues there, not realizing that the Passover and the first day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread are considered to be synonyms in the scriptures, quite often, and even to this day, with respect to the first day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread, which is the day after the Passover, that is considered to be a Sabbath that is considered to be a high holy day Sabbath. And in this particular year, in this particular, this particular occasion, this was a Sabbath that was held the day before the actual Sabbath, the seven day seven. So there are two Sabbaths that are consecutive one after the other. Right. And that does tend to cause some uncertainty when you go through the scriptures and, and are not sure exactly what Sabbath or what day of Preparation there may be.” ~ Aaron

~ “And it says it was a special Sabbath. Yes, it does, it says a special Sabbath. Yeah. Yeah.” ~ Bob George

Caller: Aaron:
“The other thing is, is the concept of the day of preparation, there were technically three days of preparation, one after the other. The first one was the day of preparation for the Passover meal, which is the time when the yeast is removed from the home. Right. And then the following day is the preparation for the Feast of Unleavened Bread. And then you have the preparation for the past, I’m sorry, for the for the actual Seventh Day Sabbath. And so the days of preparation are very difficult to keep track of, if you don’t really know the law, and what the fulfillment of the law will require. Right. Yeah. And so those were some of the details that I had to, to work with and, and, and to produce something that that seemed to account for everything.” ~ Aaron

Bob George:
“Yep, it sure does. Yeah, well, it was a, it was an eye opener for me when I, you know, you know, you read over things so fast, I never had really looked at and studied so carefully, and calling that a special Sabbath. And you know, the day of preparation and these type of things. And then you sit down and you say, Well, how can you say that Jesus had to be in just as Jonah was in the belly of a whale for three days and three nights, but Jesus is only there for two nights. And that never made sense to me anyway. But at any rate, it’s not going to change our salvation. But I think it is important for us to realize that when God when the Bible says something, it says what it means. And so you do have a three day three Night Sequence there without having to go into, you know, that, that in the Jewish way that that one day was considered, you know, a day was considered a day and a night and all that type of thing that they’ve tried to use to explain that instead of just going to the three day three nights. Yes. Yeah. Well, brother, we’re, we’re very glad that you’re in Colorado Springs there. And I wanted one other quick question. Did I hear a rumor that you had gotten married? Oh, yes, I did. You didn’t tell anybody about that.” ~ Bob George
