Those Who Think They Can Lose Eternal Salvation Don’t Know What Salvation Is

~ Salvation is eternal life in Christ Jesus. It is NOT getting your sins forgiven. There are so many in the world today that think they can lose eternal life when they sin, because they don’t understand what Jesus did on the cross for the sins of the whole world. We hear this time and again. People are out there thinking they get more forgiveness from God or get more righteousness from God when they use their false understanding of 1 John 1:9 as a means of keeping themselves clean before God. They keep on keeping on asking for what God has already done. They make a mockery of the cross and treat it as an unholy thing.

Satan has done a number on the world too, making people think they are saved, when they are still dead lost in their unbelief. They have NOT exercised faith in the finished work on the cross. They think they have, but by their very actions they keep on showing that they are NOT responding in faith. For faith says, “Thank You!” to God, and does NOT ask for what has already been done.

~ All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God. God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. ^{2 Corinthians 5:18-21}

Bob George:
~ “Well, Alan, what I would say is this I certainly believe that you could have a person who came to an understanding that first of all, they were a sinner and came to the understanding that Christ came to die for sins. The problem with this is that we’re not taught that Jesus came to take away the sins of the world, the entire world, from the eyes of God. Now, that’s an act one time, not a two time experience. Now, if I put a million dollars in your bank account, and and I said to you, Alan, I’ve put a million dollars in your bank account and you say, Well, what bank did you put it in? I say I put it in the First National Bank of Indianapolis. And I said I don’t like that bank. I like Bank One. Well, I’m sorry, it isn’t in Bank One. It’s in the First National Bank of Indianapolis. Well, I’m not going in that bank, well, then you’re gonna die a popper. Because your money is in the bank? Where is the forgiveness that was provided for you in Christ Jesus, where is that? It’s in Christ in His resurrected life, you see, you’re not saved by the death of Christ. What I was talking to John about or Alan, or John, excuse me, You’re saved by the life of Christ. You know, again, that’s what everybody’s talking about Jesus as Savior. Jesus is your life. That’s why I have eternal life is because I have his life living in me. Who is it that is eternal. I tell a person a person who believes you can lose eternal life, or we call it salvation, we get off of this our eternal life. Those are terms that don’t explain it, like the fact that I have his life living in me and his life is eternal. I tell a person who believed you can lose salvation, doesn’t know what salvation is. Now, because they don’t know what it is, does that mean they’ve never been saved? Could be. Does it mean that they could have come to Christ just as sincere as a heart attack, and accepted the fact that they were a sinner and accepted the fact that Christ died for my sins and accepted the fact that the wages of sin is death and the gift of God his life and came to him for life. And I’m saved as can be. And then I get over in a church that teaches you, you have to be baptized, to be saved, and you have to be, have good works to be saved, and you’re not a biblical student. And you kind of because you’ve been trained that way think, well, the pastor ought to know more than what I do. So maybe you can lose your salvation. Is that possible? Absolutely. And so we’re not in a position to determine who is saved or who isn’t what we are in a position to do and what we have the obligation to do is to follow what the scripture said, we have been called to be ministers of the new covenant, not of the old that kills, but of the new that gives life were to be ambassadors. That means that I have a responsibility to give the fullness of the gospel, not a half gospel, I’m not going to tell anybody to come get your sins forgiven you, you’re saved. That’s not true. Your sins are already forgiven, you come to him to get life. And in that life, you have forgiveness of sins, that’s where it’s contained in him. So I got a problem more than sin. It’s called death. And death does not get cured by forgiveness. The forgiveness is what prepares you for eternal life in Christ Jesus, but to deny, Alan, that you have eternal life is to deny the cross. You may not know that, but what I’m saying is Jesus did not forgive all of my sins at the cross. And that’s why I can lose salvation. That’s a That’s an insult to Jesus. Isn’t it? Right, I agree. Yeah. And so I think Hebrews explains that, that you’re making a mockery of the Son of God and treating as an unholy thing, the blood of the covenant that sanctified us. I think all those things are true. And I think there’s many, many people who are walking around thinking that they are just as saved as can be, but are as lost as can be because they’ve never gone to Jesus for life. They’ve only said, I just I just have a Savior. And I said, you need more than a Savior. You need a Lord. And that’s the Lord Jesus Christ that we come to. So we can’t answer the question. All we can do is present the gospel in its fullness and hope that in so doing, that people will be able to say that this is where I am what you just said, I don’t think I’ve ever come to him for life. That’s all I did was come get my sins forgiven. And if that’s the case, why then you give them an opportunity of receiving life.” ~ Bob George
