Classic Christianity – Book of Hebrews P46 (12-13-23)

Jesus Declared, “This is a Wicked Generation.”

~ If the generation was wicked when Jesus, God in flesh was standing right in front of people, imagine how wicked this current generation is. People are still looking for all kinds of signs. And Jesus even told of his return and that he would deal quickly with things, but would he find faith upon the earth? Jesus said, “I tell you, He will promptly carry out justice on their behalf. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will He find faith on earth?” Luke 18:8

Folks, the issue today is faith. Faith from first to last. Most people fail to exercise faith. They hear Truth, and it goes in one ear and out the other. Truth: Your sins have been forgiven. Truth: God is no longer counting your sins against you. Truth: Noah and the whole world flood was real. Truth: Lot was real and Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed. Truth: Jonah was swallowed by a big fish and was a sign to the Ninevites. Truth: Jesus was raised from the dead after three days and three nights.

Most people will not share Truth with others. They are more interested in what is being taught by MEN instead of the Truth that is of the word of God. There is much more truth in the bible than what most have even looked at. They gloss over the details, and it goes right over their heads. Jesus is the Creator of all things, so you think he would know a thing or two about creation. Yet people still listen to the teaching of men instead of the Truth of the word of God. And it doesn’t matter who that person is, for we were all deceived and now in these last days more and more information is coming out, for those with eyes to see and ears to hear, they can see and hear what the Truth of everything really is. So, listen to the Holy Spirit if he is alive living in you. And lean NOT on your own understanding of anything. For Satan controls all aspects of the physical world we see and hear through the media. Hollywood is controlled by Satan. Politics is controlled by Satan. Pro sports is controlled by Satan. Olympics are controlled by Satan. What is taught in our schools is controlled by Satan. Most local churches are corrupted beyond measure with agents of Satan’s there too. It’s all designed to take your focus off of Jesus and the Holy Spirit living in you.

~ “As the crowds increased, Jesus said, “This is a wicked generation. It asks for a sign, but none will be given it except the sign of Jonah. For as Jonah was a sign to the Ninevites, so also will the Son of Man be to this generation. The Queen of the South will rise at the judgment with the people of this generation and condemn them, for she came from the ends of the earth to listen to Solomon’s wisdom; and now something greater than Solomon is here. The men of Nineveh will stand up at the judgment with this generation and condemn it, for they repented at the preaching of Jonah; and now something greater than Jonah is here.” ^{Luke 11:29-32}

I’m not going to give you any more signs. Any other signs, you see, you’re not going to be coming from me. There’ll be coming from somebody else. I’m giving you my side. It’s called raised from the dead. And he said, For just as Jonah was a sign to the Ninevites, so also the Son of Man will be in this generation The men of Nineveh will stand at the judgment, and this generation will condemn it that repented the preaching of Jonah. Now one greater than John is here. So I want to ask you a question. Do you believe that Jesus believed in Jonah and the whale? Think so? Yeah, so when people say oh, do you believe you really don’t believe that? Jonah was swallowed by a whale? Do you? What do you think of Jesus? What’s that got to do with Jonah and the whale? Everything. Everything. What do you believe in Jesus? Do you think he’s God or not? If I could prove to you right now beyond a shadow of a doubt that Jonah was in a whale would you get on your knees right now and accept Christ? No. Well, I’m not going to bother to prove it to you then. Why would I want to deal with a peripheral issue and there’s a major one at hand. If you’re in Christ, and you believe Jesus is God and you read the Jesus said Jonah was in a whale, that settles that question. There isn’t any argument. You don’t need to sit around and study science on it. If he’s God if Jesus isn’t God, what in a world would I care whether Jonah was swallowed by a whale or whether Jonah swallowed a whale? What would it matter? In gonna help me get along my wife knowing Jonah was in a whale or out a one. If he didn’t God, why would people want to deal with that? It is irrelevant. If Jesus isn’t God, I don’t care whether Noah was in an ark, or whether he was on top of it or drowned? Who cares? If Jesus isn’t God, if he isn’t, God, you and I are still in our sins were to be pitied of all people. What good is it gonna do us to live on this earth with full knowledge that Jonah was in a whale and be lost? Smoke screens thrown up by the atheistic mind. We talked about creation, got the big deal and you got in your schools creationism, creationism? Why did that start? People don’t believe in Jesus. So you can go back into the Old Testament folks and say the Genesis account the Genesis account and that would all the arguments take place, the Scopes Trial and everything else? What a what a doe, Brian, get up, got up there and made a fool out of himself. Trying to talk about the Genesis story, the Genesis out in a shoe Genesis and where that’s proven, it’s proven by Jesus. Jesus is the one who was raised from the dead. He’s the one who came and proclaimed himself to be God. You don’t go back to Genesis to prove the Genesis story. You go to the one who was before all things that were created by Him and for Him. You don’t need to go back to the creation of the earth go back to the Creator. This man called Jesus who came to this earth claiming himself to be God, there’s the answer to that. Is Jesus who He claimed to be? Is he God or isn’t he? If he is all things were made for him, but all things were made by Him, nothing was made that was made. Is that true or not? If he is Jesus, that’s the testimony concerning it. So what about creation? Jesus said, Matthew 19, four, haven’t you replied? He said, haven’t you read that at the beginning, the Creator made them male and female. Don’t you know that? We got a collider going down there and were Waxahachie down there and government spending billions of dollars to try to determine what? T?he source of creation spend 10 bucks and give it to the government and saving some money. My Lord, where are we today? But what is that from? Man saying no. Oh he says I believe in God. Because you can go back into those and say where the earth was billions and billions and billions of years old and all that kind of stuff. That’s not the issue. What do you think Sagan of Jesus? That’s the issue? Who do you say that he is? That’s the issue. That’s what a man called Jesus of Nazareth came to this earth for walked on the face of this earth for 33 years, showed himself to be who he was, God hung on a cross died for the sins of man raised from the dead, so that that life that raised Him from the dead could be put in you and me and raised us from the dead. That’s the centrality of the Bible. That’s the issue Sagen not what you believe of the book of Genesis, but what do you say about Jesus? School teacher, that’s the issue.

People talk about getting the Bible back into schools and Bible back to school Bob back in schools what good or do to have a Bible back in the schools taught by an atheist? Man I had Bible taught when I was in school, it was boring thing around my life, hated it. Teach the Bible academically. It’s a spiritual book. It can’t even be understood what it means academically. It can’t even get its meaning in the church, let alone the school. What do you think of Jesus? The centrality of your in my very life. He is your life.

God said let us make man in our image. God created man in his own image. Peter said We deliberately forgot long ago by the word of God that heavens existed and the earth was formed out by water and by water. Hebrews by faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command so that what was seen was made out of what was not visible. In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God, and the Word was God, He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made without him, nothing was made that has been made. It said he rescued us. Colossians, 1:13 and 17, from the dominion of darkness brought us into the kingdom of the Son He loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by Him all things were created. things in heaven and earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities, all things were created by Him. And for him. He Jesus is before all things. and in Him all things hold together. Hebrews one, one through three in the past, God spoke to our fore fathers through the prophets at many times, and in various ways, and that’s how he spoke to them. But contrast folks, but in these last days, and that’s another thing going on. Everyone walk around thinking they’re prophets. I’m a prophet, I’ve got this No, you’re not. He spoke in days past through prophets, and at many times, and in various ways, but contrast. And these last days, he has spoken to us by his Son, not through prophets. Not in various ways, not at many times, but one time, through His Son, Jesus Christ, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom he made the universe, He made it. The Son is the radiance of God’s glory, and the exact representation of his being sustaining all things by his powerful word. And after he had provided purification for sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven. If Jesus is God, and he said that these events occurred, these events occurred again if he’s not God, whether or not these events occurred is totally irrelevant to your in my life. The authority of the New Testament in the past God spoke to our fore fathers, but in these last days, he spoken to us though he said, the authority of the Bible is any son. Now, folks, the same thing is true when it came to the apostles, Christ word was given then to the apostles. John said, Did he not I have much more to say to you more than you can bear but when he the spirit of truth now comes, He will guide you now into all truth. Who did you? What did Jesus say was the truth? The word, he said, I’m the truth. He said, My Word is true. So if the Spirit of God is going to come and guide you into all truth, what is he going to be pointing you to? Him through where you gonna learn about him? The Word of God, not through some experience, the word of God. Now, if the experience matches up with a word, praise God, if it doesn’t, what do you do with it? Your discount. He will not speak on his own, he will speak only what he hears, and he’ll tell you what is yet to come. He will bring the Holy Spirit of God He will bring not she, not it, He will bring me glory by taking from what is mine and making it known to you. The role of the Holy Spirit of God living in you and me is to take the things of the Lord Jesus Christ and make it known unto you. In John 14, he says all of this, I’ve spoken while I was still with you, but the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He The Holy Spirit will teach you all things. He’ll teach you all things, and will remind you of everything he said that I’ve said to you. John 15, you must testify for you have been with me from the beginning. I want you to know brothers that the gospel I preached in Galatians, Paul said is not something that man made up I did not receive it from any man nor was I taught it rather, I received it by revelation from Jesus Christ.

Now folks, if this truth of the Word of God was designed to set us free, then it says, Let it do. So. If you know the truth, the truth will set you free. And if the Son sets you free, and it says you shall be free indeed. Now that’s why James then said don’t be merely a hearer of the word. In other words, respond. You deceive yourself by merely being a hearer. I’m studying the Word to get to know the word. I’m starting to get the word we’re trying to be a worder. We’ve got to study to get the word so I can tell everybody about how much I know about the word. That No, you’re gonna deceive yourself for that. You study about him in order to respond to him. In other words, put it into practice. Do what it says. Anyone who listens to the word but doesn’t do what it says is like a man who looks at his face in the mirror and looking at himself goes away and forgets what it looks like. Sometimes that’s a blessing. But if your face was dirty, and you looked in the mirror and saw your face dirty, and walked away, after a while, you’d forget what you saw. And you’d be walking around the dirty face, said Now the man who looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom and that’s the law of love, and continues to do this, not forgetting what he’s heard and doing it he’ll be blessed by what he does. Now, folks, when we’re talking then about the Word of God, I want us to see and what we’ve tried to do is to establish the foundation that the whole dependency that we have on the Word of God is totally around the person of Jesus. Everything we do is around that. Everything. As I said, that’s not an argument on creationism. It’s an argument on Who do you say that I am about? Jesus? Who do you say he is? That’s the issue. And don’t let anyone get you off of it. That is the issue, isn’t it? And the reason our country schools and everything else are into what they’re doing is not because they’re not religious, who would care where they were not. Because we’re not in Christ. We haven’t focused in the Christian world hasn’t focused, we’ve allowed ourselves to be into every issue that comes down the pike. The Word of God told you and me that we are ambassadors. And he said, as an ambassador, the job of an ambassador is to what? Represent your country where? So yeah, someplace else.

Turn with me just for a minute back to second Corinthians, verse, chapter five. Let’s begin in verse 11. Since then, we know what it is to fear the Lord. And what that is it just to be until in awe of him, that doesn’t mean to sit around, you know, dodging him, just realizing he’s the Lord. We try to persuade men. What we are, is plain to God. And I hope it’s playing to your conscience. We’re not trying to commend ourselves to you again, but are giving you the opportunity to take pride in us so that you can answer those who take pride in what is seen, rather than what is in the heart. If we’re out of our mind, it’s for the sake of God. And if we’re in a right mind, it’s for you. For Christ’s love compels us because we’re convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died. And he died for all so that those who live should no longer live for themselves. But for him, who died for them and was raised again. So from now on, we regard no one, from a worldly point of view. I don’t want to regard anyone again, from a worldly point of view. Though we once regarded Christ in that way. We do so no longer. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has gone, the new has come, all of this, all of it is from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ, and gave us this ministry of reconciliation. That God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ in Christ, not counting men sins against him. And he is committed to us this message of reconciliation. We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors. as though God were making his appeal through us, we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God. How come? Because God made Him who knew no sin, to be sin, for us, for you, for me, so that in him, we might become the righteousness of God. Folks, as he said to us here, we are Christ’s ambassador, we live in a political age. If you were an ambassador, to Russia, or to France, let’s say who would you be representing over there in France? The United States of America as an ambassador to the United States of America, living in France. Now, first of all, if you’re an ambassador someplace, your citizenship is someplace else, isn’t it? In other words, I’d have my citizenship here in America, but I’m serving living as an ambassador over in France. I’m living there, but my residence over there. But I’m an ambassador, my citizenships back over here. But I’m in France, but I’m not of France. Now, where did he say your citizenship is? Where does it say in heaven. It says you are citizens of heaven. Now if your citizenship is in heaven, what are you doing here? Well, you’re an ambassador in a foreign land. Isn’t that what he says? It says you are in the world. But what does it say? Don’t be of it. You’re in it. But you’re not all of it. Go to France as an ambassador, but don’t fall in love with it. Because if you fall in love with France, you’re not going to be in love with America, and you can’t serve two masters. If your citizenship and isn’t heaven, are we in love with the world? You’re not supposed to be. But if you don’t know where your citizenship is, and that’s the only place you are, that’s where you live, and we may as well get in love with it, it’s only when you understand where your true citizenship is. That is what enables you to respond again to that citizenship instead of this one down here that, quite frankly, is just temporary, in where you belong. It says you and I are ambassadors, which means we are representatives of the kingdom of God here on this earth. We’re Christ ambassadors. We implore you as Christ ambassadors, he says, Be reconciled to God quit walking around like you’re not reconciled, be reconciled to Him, understand something God was in Christ reconciling you unto Himself, not counting your sins against you walk in that walk in it. Now, if you are an ambassador to France, is it your job to go over and picket Moulin Rouge? Is it your job to go over and tell all the Frenchman of the evils of wine drinking? Is it your job to go over to France and to and to march and to and to all that kind of stuff and try to let’s let’s see if we can get the French government to change their policies? Is it your job to do that, as an ambassador? Whose job is that to try to do that? But it’s a French people’s job. They’re in it and of it. So they want to get laws changed. Let the French people get that stuff done. That’s their world. They’re in it there of it let them handle that. It’s not my job to do. Can I have an opinion? Why sure, I can have an opinion. But it’s not my job to change their laws. Is it my job to go over there and say, let’s see if we can organize a bunch of these Frenchmen. And we’ll march on France will march on Paris over there. And we’ll show how strong we are. And how many people agree with me in regard to this issue, because what they’re doing is evil. Not evil, evil.

Folks, when do are we as Christians? When are we going to believe this man called Jesus? Who said that being angry in the sight of God is the same as murder. Do you see anybody marching on being angry? No, I just see a bunch of angry marchers. When are we going to believe that inside of God adultery as an example, is as much of a sin as murder. In it all in the same lineup. And that looking at a woman with lust in your heart is the same as being angry both of them one is murder. If you’re mad, that same as murder, if you’re lusting, it’s the same as adultery. When are we going to learn from God’s standpoint? They’re one of the same. And if you’re going to pick it on something, why don’t you pick it on adultery? That’s where abortion comes from. I mean, you wouldn’t have abortion if you didn’t I believe I’m correct on that. I think my facts are right on that. I believe I still know where babies come from. Why is one sin worse than another? It isn’t in God’s standpoint. It sure is in a self righteous. The self righteous they’re going to always get mad at the sin that they are not committing. But we’re so dumb. We don’t even know what sin we are committing. Because lust is the same as murder. When we gotta learn that or do we ever want to? Well, we really don’t want to because it see I can’t get involved in a movement that way. And I have these firm convictions. Where’s our firm convictions about him?I’m not saying one way or the other. I’m saying that we had counseled I personally have counseled with hundreds of girls who were pregnant out of wedlock. I don’t know one of them that had ever gotten an abortion and I’ve never told her what not to do. People say are you pro choice? Are you pro life? I’m both. How could you not be pro choice and be a Christian when God gave you a free will? You tell me how that could be. I’m not talking about laws. The laws there brother obey it. I’m also pro life.

But I’m an ambassador and this earth. I’m not a citizen. And I’m gonna let someone else fight out that issue. And I would spend my time doing what God told me to do and what God told you to do and that’s proclaim Him and be an ambassador here on the face of this earth telling people that God was in Christ reconciling the world unto himself not counting your sins against you. That’s our job. France’s job and their citizens is to change their laws. The ambassador’s job is to represent his country. That right or wrong? You see, Don’t you wonder why we get so excited over issues and are so blase over the issue. Christ there is only one issue. Christ. That’s all.
