Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at The Word of God P36 (04-28-21)
The word of God is living and active. In the word of God is the words of good news, the gospel of salvation. It speaks of an Old Covenant, a law of sin and death, that has since been replaced by a New Covenant with man, whereby sins and lawless acts will be remembered no more.
So the word of God has given us everything that we need to learn about the love of God that is contained in Christ Jesus our Lord. How then do we respond to someone who says “I do not believe the bible is the word of God? I do not believe the bible is true? Do you believe that bible is true?”
The word of God is likened to a sword that cuts open and reveals to us the attitudes of our heart. So if a surgeon has a knife to treat a person with cancer, to cut out that cancer or the person will die, what must the surgeon do? He has to cut it out. Certainly he must communicate the problem to a person with cancer so they … Listen to Broadcast & Read More

When we are talking about the validity of Old Testament events, which certainly adds to the validity of the Old Testament itself, it all gets back again to one simple question Jesus asked, “Who do you say that I am?” Because if Jesus is who He is, God, and He said there is a Sodom and a Gomorrah then there was a Sodom and a Gomorrah
As you read the account of Sodom and Gomorrah, something striking you will notice. Fire and sulfur rained down from heaven and destroyed them all. That is why archaeologists have never found those two cities that were destroyed by God. That adds to the validity of the scriptures. Archaeologists have found almost everything else recorded in the scriptures but they never found Sodom and Gomorrah.
But as you read these different accounts, do not just simply believe that this event happened or not, for that has no relevance to how you live your life. But take note of the analogy Jesus used in referring to these events in regard to His judgment on mankind. Jesus is pointing to a future … Listen to Broadcast & Read More

What convinces you that Jonah was in a fish? Or that there was a big flood? When you read what is recorded that Jesus said about these events, and knowing that Jesus is God, what would you have to conclude? That God is either a liar, which it is impossible for God to lie, or that those events really happened and those people really existed. Why would Jesus make some analogy between the flood of Noah to a future event in history where just as it was like in the days of Noah so will it be again, when God calls mankind, who put their trust in what God has said, to meet Jesus in the sky?
Jesus equated His own life and His resurrection to Jonah being in a belly of a whale. Was the resurrection an actual event? Absolutely. How can you equate His resurrection to an actual event to a fairy tale? Again, we are forced to conclude something about Jonah and the big fish. That is, if Jesus is indeed who He claims to be, and that is God, and He says … Listen to Broadcast & Read More

When you read in the scriptures about all the different eyewitnesses of those who saw, heard and touched Jesus, what conclusions do you come to? You can only come to the conclusion that Jesus is either a nutcase, a liar, or an imposter, or He is indeed what He claimed to be, God in the flesh. If even archaeological evidence confirms the events, times and places that are recorded in the scriptures are true, and that what is written down by the prophets came true precisely as they said, then I would ask where does the evidence lead? What probability is there that all these over 300 prophecies, even over a thousand years, long before the events occurred, by people of all walks of life and different periods in history, all came true, what reasonable conclusion would you come to? The overwhelming evidence is why we believe that Jesus is God and His word is true. Jesus even said if you cannot believe me by what I say then believe me based on the miracles you see. Nicodemus, a leading Pharisee, even said, “Who can do … Listen to Broadcast & Read More
Classic Christianity – Book of John Part 81 (10-07-19)
Preparation Day. Now if you go down to verse 31. We all together. This was the day of preparation. The next day was to be a special Sabbath. In the Jewish history, there were many Sabbaths. A Sabbath is not just from Friday night to Saturday night. There were many Sabbaths. On this day, it was called a special Sabbath. The special Sabbath was the day, not the day of preparation, but the first day of the celebration of the feast of unleavened bread. That was called a special Sabbath. That was not on Saturday, as we know it today. That would be on Friday, the special Sabbath. The special Sabbath was the day of preparation. The regular Sabbath was on the Feast of Tabernacles.
John 19:31 31 Now it was the day of Preparation, and the next day was to be a special Sabbath.
Let me go back to this. Thursday, the day Jesus was crucified, was called the day of Preparation. Is it not strange that he was crucified on the day of preparation when the cross was the preparation for the salvation through the resurrection. Is that … Listen to Broadcast & Read More
