Classic Christianity – Book of John Part 85 (10-15-19)
So it says that there are many things that Jesus did. They did not record all of them. In one account, it says they would not have filled all the libraries of the world, if recorded all the things Jesus did. But these things were recorded so that you, by believing in him, might have eternal life, eternal life he came to give us.
Now on to chapter 21. Jesus is saying first of all you have to come for life. I came here to show you that you are a sinner. I did do that to put you on a guilt trip. I did not do that for you to bury yourself and for you to get into introspection, saying “woe is me”. I came to show you the truth of something and that is that you have sinned.
Romans 3:23 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God

Classic Christianity – Book of John Part 84 (10-14-19)
Let us turn to the 20th chapter of the gospel of John. We are coming to the end of Jesus life. We talked about in the past messages how important it is when you are about to depart this earth. One way or another, you give out the most important message you can. That is exactly what Jesus did.
Many times we doubt. We look, for example, at doubting Thomas, and say “What is wrong with him?” Yet, how many times in our own lives do we really doubt the Lord in regards to the information He gives to us. We can say that Thomas, for example, doubted Jesus was raised from the dead, which was a historical fact that was certainly true. As for the one who was raised from the dead, He passed on a great deal of information to us. How many of us, like doubting Thomas, do not grab a hold of what Jesus said is truth and hang onto that truth? Would we rather believe the teachings of this world, to grab a hold of all of the different philosophies of the world, and … Listen to Broadcast & Read More

Jesus did not die on Friday. He died on Thursday. Just as Jonah was in the belly of the whale for three days and three nights so too was the Son of God in the heart of the earth for three days and three nights.
Matthew 12:40 40 For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of a huge fish, so the Son of Man will be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.
Now it says in verse 31. It was the day of preparation. The next day was to be the special Sabbath. That is what we just talked about. Preparation on Thursday, Special Sabbath on Friday, the first day of the feast of unleavened bread. Then the next day, because the Jews did not want to leave the body on the Sabbath, the regular Sabbath day, they asked Pilate to have his legs broken.
John 19:31-37 31 Now it was the day of Preparation, and the next day was to be a special Sabbath. Because the Jewish leaders did not want the bodies left on the crosses during the

Let us join Bob now as he gets started with today’s lesson. Let us pick up where we left off.
John 19:28-41 28 Later, knowing that everything had now been finished, and so that Scripture would be fulfilled, Jesus said, “I am thirsty.” 29 A jar of wine vinegar was there, so they soaked a sponge in it, put the sponge on a stalk of the hyssop plant, and lifted it to Jesus’ lips. 30 When he had received the drink, Jesus said, “It is finished.” With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.
Jesus said, “Father, into your hands I commit my Spirit”. The body of Jesus died and the Spirit of Jesus lived on. Jesus said, “It is finished”. What did he mean by, “It is finished.” When you understand what Jesus came to do, to give life to us, that he saw us in our condition of spiritual death as a result of Adam’s sin, then you will come to understand what he meant. We quite frankly had nothing to do with our spiritual death. We were born dead spiritually as the result of the … Listen to Broadcast & Read More

Preparation Day. Now if you go down to verse 31. We all together. This was the day of preparation. The next day was to be a special Sabbath. In the Jewish history, there were many Sabbaths. A Sabbath is not just from Friday night to Saturday night. There were many Sabbaths. On this day, it was called a special Sabbath. The special Sabbath was the day, not the day of preparation, but the first day of the celebration of the feast of unleavened bread. That was called a special Sabbath. That was not on Saturday, as we know it today. That would be on Friday, the special Sabbath. The special Sabbath was the day of preparation. The regular Sabbath was on the Feast of Tabernacles.
John 19:31 31 Now it was the day of Preparation, and the next day was to be a special Sabbath.
Let me go back to this. Thursday, the day Jesus was crucified, was called the day of Preparation. Is it not strange that he was crucified on the day of preparation when the cross was the preparation for the salvation through the resurrection. Is that … Listen to Broadcast & Read More
