Jesus The Word of God

Classic Christianity – Spirit Controlled Living – Part 3 – 10-14-26

Words, “word”, and “Word”: Un-Scrambling the Cleansing of the Vessel

📖 “And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.” — 1 Corinthians 6:11
📖 “You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you.” — John 15:3
📖 “…to sanctify her, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word…” — Ephesians 5:26

1. The Threefold Linguistic Distinction: Words, “word”, and “Word”

To understand how Scripture describes the cleansing and sealing of the believer, we must first un-scramble three distinct terms that English translation overlays frequently lump together:

  • 1. “Word” (Capitalized Singular — Ho Logos):
    Refers exclusively to the living, uncreated Person of King Jesus Himself (John 1:1, 14; Revelation 19:13). Ho Logos in the singular is the eternal Son of God made flesh—the living Vine to whom every believer is organically fused (John 15:5).
  • 2. “word” (Lowercase Singular — Ton Logon / Rhēma):
    Refers to the spoken declaration, decree, or Gospel message of truth communicated by God (John 15:3; Ephesians 5:26).

Controlled By The Holy Spirit

Classic Christianity – Spirit Controlled Living – Part 2 – 10-13-26

~ You, however, are controlled not by the flesh, but by the Spirit, if the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ. ~ Romans 8:9

The Misunderstanding of “Volume” vs. “Control”

One of the most widespread misunderstandings in traditional theology is treating the phrase “filled with the Spirit” as a quantitative fluid measurement—as if the Holy Spirit is a liquid poured into a human cup in varying percentages (e.g., 50% filled vs. 80% filled).

However, when we examine the scriptural language under the New Covenant, being “filled with the Spirit” has nothing to do with volume, and everything to do with governance, occupancy, and control.

1. Possessed vs. Vacant: The Courtroom Boundary of Romans 8:9

In Romans 8:9, the Apostle Paul establishes an absolute binary regarding the indwelling of the Holy Spirit:

“You, however, are controlled not by the flesh, but by the Spirit, if the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ.” — Romans 8:9

~ Proper Conduct in the Midst of Pagan Darkness: Why Paul Exhorts the Ephesians on Walking as Light

Be imitators of God, therefore, as beloved children, and walk in love, just as Christ loved us and gave Himself up for us as a fragrant sacrificial offering to God.

But among you, as is proper among the saints, there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed. Nor should there be obscenity, foolish talk, or crude joking, which are out of character, but rather thanksgiving. For of this you can be sure: No immoral, impure, or greedy person (that is, an idolater) has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God

Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of such things the wrath of God is coming on the sons of disobedience. Therefore do not be partakers with them.. Ephesians 5:1-6

The Gospel of Jesus Christ is Received by Faith

~ For the gospel reveals the righteousness of God that comes by faith from start to finish, just as it is written: “The righteous will live by faith.” ~ Romans 1:17

Living by Faith in the One Who Lives in Me: How the Indwelling Spirit Directs Your Paths

In corporate religion, believers are routinely conditioned to look outward for spiritual direction. They are taught to rely on external performance loops, human credentialing, and pulpit gatekeepers to tell them what to believe, how to act, and where to go.

This completely ignores the radical, internal reality of the New Covenant!

True Christian life is not an external imitation of a distant historical figure. It is an active, moment-by-moment walk of living by Faith in the One who actually lives inside you!

1. The Great Internal Shift: “Christ Liveth in Me”

Apostle Paul defines the true mechanics of spiritual life in Galatians 2:20:

📖 “I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave Himself for me.”

In Matthew 13:10–17, after Jesus spoke the Parable of the Sower, His disciples came to Him with a fundamental question that every searching mind eventually asks:

📖 “And the disciples came and said to Him, ‘Why do You speak to them in parables?’ He answered and said to them, ‘Because it has been given to you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it has not been given. For whoever has, to him more will be given, and he will have abundance; but whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him. Matthew 13 Soil Types

Classic Christianity – The Sower & The Seed – Part 1 – 10-05-26

~ That same day Jesus went out of the house and sat by the sea. Such large crowds gathered around Him that He got into a boat and sat down, while all the people stood on the shore.

And He told them many things in parables, saying, “A farmer went out to sow his seed. And as he was sowing, some seed fell along the path, and the birds came and devoured it.

Some fell on rocky ground, where it did not have much soil. It sprang up quickly because the soil was shallow. But when the sun rose, the seedlings were scorched, and they withered because they had no root.

Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up and choked the seedlings.

Still other seed fell on good soil and produced a crop—a hundredfold, sixtyfold, or thirtyfold.
