Classic Christianity – Book of Romans P34 (01-06-25)

The Salvation Issue is One of Life Over Death

“Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.” 1 John 5:12

Religion has turned the focus of attention to self, instead of what Jesus did. Jesus said, “It is Finished!” But hardly anyone believes that. For most people today call God a liar and go back to their confession booths, or saying their 1 John 1:9s in order to get more forgiveness from God. They don’t believe the word of God. They instead run to their pastors or online favorite Internet teacher says in regards to forgiveness, instead of listening directly to God. They would much rather listen to the teaching of Man rather than God. And once a person truly is in Christ Jesus, the Holy Spirit points this out to them. You can see this with others, their pride of self, their wrong interpretation of ongoing repentance, their taking the word of God out of context, and asking for more forgiveness from God. And no matter whether Catholic or Protestant, they all believe the lies of Satan. Satan has the whole world convinced that they need more forgiveness by God.

Forgiveness was taken care of at the cross. “God made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God.” 2 Corinthians 5:21 If you are not in Christ Jesus, Trust in Jesus to have taken away ALL your sins at the cross so that you may become the righteousness of God. The issue today is LIFE. No one gets their sins forgiven today. For without the shedding of blood their is no forgiveness. And Jesus is never going to go to the cross ever again.

Come to Jesus, God in the flesh, for Life for ALL Eternity.

18 And a certain ruler asked Him, saying, “Good Teacher, having done what, will I inherit eternal life?”
19 And Jesus said to him, “Why do you call Me good? No one is good, except God alone.

~ “Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.” 1 John 5:12

~ Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life; the one believing in Me, even if he should die, he will live. And everyone living and believing in Me shall never die, to the age. Do you believe this?” John 11:25,26

~ Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For in Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set you free from the law of sin and death. For what the law was powerless to do in that it was weakened by the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful man, as an offering for sin. He thus condemned sin in the flesh, so that the righteous standard of the law might be fulfilled in us, who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.

Those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh; but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit. The mind of the flesh is death, but the mind of the Spirit is life and peace, because the mind of the flesh is hostile to God: It does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so. Those controlled by the flesh cannot please God.

You, however, are controlled not by the flesh, but by the Spirit, if the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ. But if Christ is in you, your body is dead because of sin, yet your spirit is alive because of righteousness. And if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit, who lives in you. Romans 8:1-11

Pray to God:

Do you really want to know the WHOLE Truth of what is going on today?

“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened to you.” Matthew 7:7

Lord Jesus, teach me the truth of the world today and give me the wisdom to know the truth and identify the lies of the devil. Thank you God.”

~ “Now, he says, that’s what we’ve been saved from. We’ve been saved from the consequence of sin, which is death, by this marvelous gift of life in Christ, Jesus. Why do you have to do that? Well, because it says that the law was powerless, absolutely ineffective to do in us because it was weakened by our flesh. God, therefore, because it was weakened by our flesh, He sent His own Son in the likeness of sinful man to be a sin offering. He condemned sin. He didn’t condemn the man. He condemned sin in sinful man in order that the righteous requirements of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the flesh. In other words, live lost without Jesus, but according to the Spirit, live born again. Now those who live according to the flesh or according to sinful nature, here he’s talking about lost people. When you are a lost person, you have your mind set on what your flesh desires, do you not? And that’s all you have it set on. And that can spell itself out in all kinds of ways and all kinds of habits, can’t it, and all kinds of things that we get hung up in some it could be alcohol, it could be drugs, it could be promiscuity, it could be anything. It could be all kinds of things that the flesh is telling you to go do. And it says that. It says, quite frankly, that you have your mind set on those things, and therefore, because your mind set on them, that’s what you’re going to do, that’s how you’re going to live. Am I right or wrong there? Do you how many of you remember when you were in that condition? Don’t all of you don’t. Remember? Okay.” ~ Bob George

Bob George 0:27
You don’t have to know the Lord to be a pastor. I’ve known more pastors you could shake a stick at that didn’t know the Lord at all. All of them that I had growing up didn’t know the Lord from an apple tree. You don’t have to be a Christian to graduate from cemetery. You just gotta go to school. That’s all. Just go to school because you’re not gonna learn much Bible at most of them anyway, you’re gonna learn counseling, you’re going to learn tradition, you’re going to learn how to give the Lord’s Supper. You’re going to hear it. You’re not going to learn much Bible, so don’t teach it in most seminaries. I’m very serious about this, folks. There are some denominations that are very Bible oriented. Thank God for them. Thank God for. Them, but the mass majority of your denominational you get very little Bible in the seminary. And so we have to understand the truth of this, that in the final analysis, what you and I are dealing with is the Spirit of God living in us, who has promised to reveal the meaning of this word to you and me. Do you understand that? God has said, I am living in you, and my Spirit does not conflict with my Spirit. And so if my Spirit, who wrote this Bible, is living in you, then depend upon my Spirit to reveal what it means, because no eye has seen, nor ear is heard, nor mind is conceived, of those things that God has prepared for those who love him, but it must be what revealed by the Spirit. Now you can sit and study your little eyeballs into the ground, and you can become a student of the Bible and never, ever, ever have a clue is what it means, because the Spirit has to reveal it to you. I don’t care what your educational background is, whether you haven’t had any, or whether you’ve had a bunch, the Spirit of God still has to reveal the meaning of the word of God to you. The person who has had a bunch, you’re probably going to have to be more dependent than the one who’s had little, because one who’s had little can’t depend on his education. He hadn’t had any, so he just depends on the Lord.

You want to know something, folks, when you go back into the history of this country, and you go back to the time, which was the worst atrocity that this country ever went through in as the days of slavery. And you found a lot of slave owners going into their nice churches and sitting there and singing their songs and having their announcements and a 10 minute message. And then you had the slaves, and you had the slaves over in their slave quarters. Do you know who learned about Jesus? The slaves. The slaves, they had a relationship with Jesus that would make the owners sick. Why? They didn’t have anything to count on, except that the only one that they had to rely upon was Jesus, and that’s why you’ve got the strong base many times that you have in the black community, even today, of a lot of especially, of black mothers who see fit that their kids go to church and hear about Jesus, lot of that came from the fact that they had nothing else to offer. They had no place else to go except to the Lord Jesus, where the others we go and we have our social nice thing to do. We went to church, left a little money, an offering plate, and came home and got busy with the important things of life, where the important thing to life, to the slaves, was Jesus. That’s why you got the spirituals. That’s why you got that type of thing that you see continually going on the world today, a real, true relationship with a living God.

Now, he says, that’s what we’ve been saved from. Remember? Okay.

Now he said, on the other hand, those who live according the spirit, those who have been born again of the Spirit of God, they’ve got their minds set on what the Spirit desires. Guys, do you remember when you were lost? How many of you remember when you were lost? Do you remember, you know, outside of maybe going to church on Sunday, or being dragged, rather, to church on Sunday? What did you ever you might give some thought to God every now and then, but you weren’t sitting there thinking about how to please. God. Were you? What were you thinking about? Who how to please? Who were you wanting to please? Yourself. That’s why I tell people. You know, if you’re worried about what other people are thinking about, you forget it. They’re not. They’re thinking about themselves. If you don’t believe that, take a group picture and get it back and see who you look for. We’re self centered, aren’t we, and we have to understand the truth of that. So it says that your mind, where your mind is put on as a mind as a man thinks so is he? So this mind of ours is placed as a lost person. It’s placed on what the flesh desires, and when you’re saved, it begins to get on what the Spirit desires. The mind of the flesh, the sinful man, it’s death. The guy who is without the Spirit living in him. He’s dead. That doesn’t mean he can’t receive life, but at that moment, he’s dead. That’s why his mind is on there. But the mind control by the Spirit is life and peace. The sinful mind was hostile to God. Now you might not have thought that you were hostile to God. I wouldn’t have thought I was hostile to God. I thought I was indifferent to God, but I never looked at myself as hostile to God. I just believed that God probably graded on the curve and until I grew to the age well, I knew that I was going to have to live to be 150 before that equation would come on my side. But I figured something like that, it didn’t wasn’t hostile. I was just indifferent, and those are the two attitudes of the heart, passive indifference or active rebellion. But it says there that that mind is hostile to God, in that it doesn’t submit to God’s Law is law, nor can it do so, nor does it want to do so. I used to when I studied in grade school, as back in days, we used to teach the 10 Commandments in school, and I remember I had to learn those. And I did learn them what they were, but then immediately forgot them because, and I really wanted to forget them because I could plead ignorance. I didn’t know it was their God. It’s like WC Fields, that old, crusty comedian. It’s on his deathbed. Someone walked into his hospital and he was reading the Bible, and he said, WC what in the world you doing? He said, looking for loopholes. And that’s what you’re doing. You’re looking for loopholes. Well, maybe if I don’t know what the law is, then I can’t be held accountable for it. And don’t think that people don’t think that way. So there’s a hostility to God. So it says it can’t do so those controlled by the that flesh, those lost people, could never please God. Now, how many people who are lost will think they’re pleasing God? How? Well I go to church, I sing the choir, I’m pleasing God. I bet he’s thrilled to death with me. He says, no, no man who is lost is pleasing to God.

You, however, not control by your flesh, but by the Spirit. If the Spirit lives in you, and we talked about that last week, if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he doesn’t belong to Christ. So you could not be born again apart from being indwelt by the Spirit, that’s why it is an absolute impossibility, as is taught in some circles of Christianity, that you’re born again today and then receive the Spirit tomorrow. That’s an impossibility, and it’s false teaching. You could not be born again unless the Spirit of God indwells you. That’s what it means to be born again of the Spirit. And if the Spirit of God doesn’t live in you, you don’t belong to Him. So there’s no way to get the Spirit today and get the Spirit tomorrow. There’s not two spirits, just ONE. So when you’re born again, the very moment you’re born again, you’re indwelt by the Spirit. Then the Spirit baptizes or places you into the body of Christ. The first thing is Christ in you. Then you are in Christ. He comes to live in your spirit, and then makes you his body. Now, if Christ is in you, He said, your body is dead because of sin. In other words, this body is going to die. In your body is death. Do we realize that something called death reigns in your body? Do you all understand that? What does that mean? Every one of us are not going to be here someday, some sooner than others. Do we realize the truth of that you’re not going to be here? Amy said she has read the last survivor of World War Two. Did you read that in or World War One? Do you read that in a paper just recently died? The last survivor. Gonna all go sooner or later, there anybody left from the Civil War, all of us are going to go. So in our bodies is a thing called death, and that’s what he says. Your body’s dead because of sin, but your spirit is alive because of righteousness. What does that mean? You got the body that your Spirit lives in? This is only a house. This thing that we pay so much attention to is only a temporary house. It’s a tent. Look what we do to it. We blow it up, we manipulate it, we operate on it, we paint it up, we dress it up, we exercise it up or down, whichever one you I mean, we are preoccupied with this house, not what’s inside, the house. Now there’s a balance as a Christian, and the balance is that your number one priority is what’s going on inside, and then what goes on on the outside. Now, prior to my heart attack, my favorite passage of scripture was exercise profiteth little. But I’ve kind of had to reverse that a little bit.

Bob George 13:31
Now he says, Your spirit is alive because of righteousness, and if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, in other words, if you’re born again, then He who raised Christ from the dead will give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who lives in you. Now, what is that a promise of? he says your body is dead because of sin, and yet the Spirit of God that lives in you is going to give life to this mortal body. Do we understand? Now, what kind of a body is he going to give us? It’s called a spiritual body. What’s a spiritual body look like? Don’t know. Don’t know. Do you know? But we do know one thing that this body, we’re going to get a new body. Now, what else do we know about this body of ours? We also know that flesh and blood will never inherit the kingdom of God. Do we know that? Are we together on that? That’s passage, that’s not me. That’s scripture. Flesh and blood will not inherit the kingdom of God Now what is this body? Flesh and blood. What are my ears? Flesh and blood. What are my eyes? Flesh and blood. What’s his whole body made up of? Flesh and blood. Is it ever going to go to heaven? No. Where is it going to go? Gonna go? To the grave. If you’re in an ocean and it sinks, you’re going to go in the water become whale food. If you get to get buried, you can become worm food. But the body is not going to inherit the kingdom of God. Are we together on that? Do we believe that? And why do people think that this thing is going to inherit the kingdom of God? It’s going to go into the grave and decay. You came from the grave, you’re going to return to the grave. You came from dust, you’re going to return to dust. Am I right or wrong? But he said, I’m going to give you a new body, and that’s the good news. Is we are going to receive a new body.

Now, the issue comes down is when? And that’s debatable. Some people you got, some people had a guy that called the other day want to talk about soul sleep. You know I felt I said, Well, according to your faith, being in none to you, if you want to think you’re going to not get a body for 2000 years, that’s up to you. But I believe what the Scripture teaches is absent from the body and present with the Lord. And I think, as Ellen said, it doesn’t make any sense that while you’re here on this earth, you got a home, but when you die, you’re homeless, you don’t have a body. And I don’t believe that’s true. And I believe that’s why in Thessalonians, it says that at the rapture, those of us who remain behind will not precede those who have fallen asleep before us. What does that mean? The ones who fallen asleep are already there, and those of us that are here at the time of the rapture, we will go to meet them in the air. That’s when they’ll get their glorified body. I think we get ours immediately, and that’s why it says absent from the body and present with the Lord. And so that could be debatable, I assume. And so you have to decide where you want to go on that. But it is just difficult for me to imagine that we’re floating around with no body. So I’m going to go with the body. I think I’m going to get that when I and I’m thankful this is going to go the dust. I’m going to get a new one. And the older you get, the more grateful you are for that. When you’re young, you kind of like the one you got, you know, but so he’s going to give life to our mortal bodies, who lives in you. And we’ll talk about that more in detail in Romans.

Therefore brothers. Now we’ll get back to the lesson, therefore we had, do not have an obligation, or we have an obligation, but it’s not to the old flesh to live according to it. So here’s what it’s saying. You had the old you the Bob George, without the Spirit of God living in me. And he’s saying to me, Bob, you have no obligation at all to obey that guy. He’s dead. You don’t have any obligation to him at all. Again, it’s like an owner of a place of business or an apartment complex, and let’s say you got this owner there, and he just mean as a hornet, and you’re renting from him, and so you got an obligation to pay the rent to him, and he’s bugging you every week, just in there, banging on your door, complaining about the way you live. He’s just making your life miserable for you. And one day somebody comes in says, Mother, Lord, I have good news. What happened? They sold the apartment complex. We got a new owner. Really, no kidding. Yeah, that’s phenomenal. New owner. What kind of a guy is he terrific, terrific guy. He’s full of heart. He’s just a wonderful person. Say, man, that’s terrific. Besides that, he’s going to cut your rent. Said, Man, that is something else. He incidentally, where is the old guy going to live? It on this place before he said, The next door. He He’s renting from him. And so here’s the old owner living next door. Here’s a new owner, and the old owner comes over and starts knocking on your door. Where’s my rent? You left some debris outside the door. Out there. Clean it up. Do you have any obligation at all to obey Him? None at all. But you could. Couldn’t you? You could. You got you’re in such a habit of listening to him and doing what he wants to and living in fear of him that you could just give right back into him and say, okay, sir, I’ll get the things picked up and I’ll do. Can you or not? Could you listen to him? Absolutely. But do you have an obligation to listen to him? No, you’re under new ownership. Now guys, you’ve been bought with a price, haven’t you, and we’re under brand new ownership. You’re not under the ownership of Satan and your old flesh. And therefore you have no obligation at all to obey that old guy, the Bob George, without the Spirit of God living in him, I don’t have any obligation to obey Him. I can. I can listen to him. And sometimes do we do that? Yeah, he comes along and said, Hey, don’t you remember how much fun we used to be before you and go up by the Spirit. And next thing you know, while you’re listening to him, next thing you know, while you’re back doing the things you used to do before you were saved. Any of you ever done that? You don’t need to hold up your hand.

you know, people live in terrible guilt. Many times in lives, we live in terrible guilt because we’re out trying to live the Christian life, and we find ourselves falling on our face. Have any of you ever experienced that? Have any of you ever experienced the things I want to do, I don’t do, and the things I don’t want to do, these things I keep on doing. If any of you ever experienced going through that now, if I’m doing what I don’t want to do, it’s clear that sin living in me. Do you have an obligation to that sin that lives in you? No, but can you grab a hold of it and listen to it? Yeah? Do we do it? Yeah. And then there’s people who live in terrible guilt. The issue is, what kind of an attitude do we have to have as we walk through life? You have to walk through life like this. James said that, if you kept the whole law and yet violated in just one point, you violated all of it, am I right or wrong? What does that do to us in regard, in other words, I’m going to have my acceptance in the sight of God through my good works. What does that do for you? What’s that do for you? Does it annihilate you? Or are you pleased with that statement? All you gotta do is just violate one and you violate all of it. Is that encouraging? Now, what does that tell you? Well, you know what the answer that is, yeah, but you got to try. Yeah, you got to try. Well, you know, it’s like trying to jump over a cliff. You may try, but you’re not going to make it. And you say, well, that’s better than not trying. Well, I would tell you a person who tries will probably live somewhat of a better lifestyle down here on Earth than one who doesn’t try. But as far as God’s servant, he had impressed him at all. Now simply that, Oh, that can’t be he’s got to be impressed with me. Can you imagine God being impressed with you? Ooh, Bob impressed me. Just think about that. And we’re so arrogant that we think we can impress God. He said, you don’t have a chance in a world of acceptance in my sight, apart from being clothed in the righteousness of my Son. And so get rid of all your self righteous attitudes and realize that you too, as good as you may think you’ve lived you too are not going to heaven for only one reason, and that’s because you’re clothed in the righteousness of Jesus. So may as well put all your self righteousness aside and just enjoy your clothing.

Now that’s what he’s getting at here. You got flesh. You have no obligation to it at all. But on the other hand, it says if, if, by the Spirit, and that’s only by the Spirit that you put to death the misdeeds of the body. That’s the only way you’re going to put aside the misdeeds of the body, is through the Spirit. And that happens, then you’ll live. Because those who are led by the Spirit. Why are you going to live? Because you’re a son of God. Do you have any ability to put aside the misdeeds of the body when you’re lost? You can control them temporarily, but put them away, no way. So he’s talking about here that you have not been received a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received a Spirit of sonship. Now, folks, again, perfect love casts away. How much fear? All fear. So what is fear cast away? Are we together? Perfect love. Does God want us to function in perfect love? Yeah. And what does Satan use to keep us from it? Fear? Now, when you are experiencing fear, you are not being led by the Spirit, because God didn’t give you a spirit of fear. And we have to understand the truth of that. How many of you have fearful thoughts come into your head? We all do, don’t we? Where do they coming from? Satan, and we have to understand that. So don’t sit around trying to analyze the thoughts, recognize where they’re coming from, and give them back to him. It’s like the the old landlord, tell him to get lost. I’m not under your ownership anymore. You don’t own this place anymore. Go back to your apartment and starve to death. Get out of here. Get away from me. And that’s what you have to do when you recognize who it is that’s giving putting that fear in you, oh God, banging on the door, putting fear in you. You’re sitting there fearful, and you say, Wait a minute. He doesn’t own this place anymore. You’re not owned anymore by Satan. You’re owned by God. And so he says that he didn’t give you a spirit of fear, but you receive the Spirit of sonship. You’re made a son of God, and by him, you cry out, Abba. And that word is Daddy. It’s a Hebrew word, meaning Daddy, Father, calling him daddy. That’s what the little kids over in Israel walk around calling their dad. Abba, abba. Abba. Daddy, Daddy, Daddy. The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. Say, how do you know? People say, how do you know you’re saved? Well, if you don’t know you’re saved, something’s wrong, because your spirit should be testifying to the fact that you are saved, but if you get the idea I’m saved only as long as I’m behaving properly and that, and you’re taught that, right? Why then you can say, well, maybe I’m not, or if you think you were just one of the elect, and if I’m one of the elect, so I must be saved, but I sure didn’t act like it. Maybe I’m not one of the elect. But do you know when you were saved? I don’t mean necessarily having to know the date. I don’t know the date. I wasn’t aware of, the day I was born physically. But do you know when you were born spiritually? Do you know it? Do you know the approximate time? People come back and say, Well, I don’t remember the time, but I was, I know one thing. I was back in grade school when I accepted the Lord had one little grandchildren except him on the roof. I didn’t know he’s up there. You know what you saved? Because if you do, your spirit is going to testify to the fact that you are God’s children.
