Classic Christianity – Book of Romans P35 (01-07-25)
In Christ Jesus, You are a Son of God!
~ “Therefore, brothers, we have an obligation, but it is not to the flesh, to live according to it. For if you live according to the flesh, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.
For you did not receive a spirit of slavery that returns you to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption to sonship, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!” The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. And if we are children, then we are heirs: heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ—if indeed we suffer with Him, so that we may also be glorified with Him.” Romans 8:11-17
When a person becomes a True child of God, we become heirs to everything in Christ Jesus! That’s what sonship is all about. God makes us one with Him. We inherit everything as a child of God. This is amazing to think about! And the enemy doesn’t want us to know that. That’s why the enemy goes out of its way to invert everything that is from God. The enemy doesn’t want you to know the Truth of who you are in Christ Jesus. He wants you thinking that you are still a sinner, instead of seeing yourself as a Saint, a son of God.
Now some of you might think that is scandalous and heretical to consider yourself a son of God, but the word of God is crystal clear on this. We who are in Christ Jesus are sons of God. And sonship used here represents Man (male and female), for those who are in Christ Jesus. Don’t let anyone convince you are still a sinner. Because you are a son of God not because of what you do or don’t do, but because of Jesus and what He did on the cross for you, and by placing faith in Him and Him alone for everything He has made you a son! Jesus is my Everything! The Holy Spirit is testifying to that. Believe it!
18 And a certain ruler asked Him, saying, “Good Teacher, having done what, will I inherit eternal life?”
19 And Jesus said to him, “Why do you call Me good? No one is good, except God alone.
~ “Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.” 1 John 5:12
~ Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life; the one believing in Me, even if he should die, he will live. And everyone living and believing in Me shall never die, to the age. Do you believe this?” John 11:25,26
—
~ Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For in Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set you free from the law of sin and death. For what the law was powerless to do in that it was weakened by the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful man, as an offering for sin. He thus condemned sin in the flesh, so that the righteous standard of the law might be fulfilled in us, who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. Those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh; but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit. The mind of the flesh is death, but the mind of the Spirit is life and peace, because the mind of the flesh is hostile to God: It does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so. Those controlled by the flesh cannot please God. You, however, are controlled not by the flesh, but by the Spirit, if the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ. But if Christ is in you, your body is dead because of sin, yet your spirit is alive because of righteousness. And if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit, who lives in you. Therefore, brothers, we have an obligation, but it is not to the flesh, to live according to it. And if we are children, then we are heirs: heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ—if indeed we suffer with Him, so that we may also be glorified with Him. I consider that our present sufferings are not comparable to the glory that will be revealed in us. The creation waits in eager expectation for the revelation of the sons of God. For the creation was subjected to futility, not by its own will, but because of the One who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself will be set free from its bondage to decay and brought into the glorious freedom of the children of God. We know that the whole creation has been groaning together in the pains of childbirth until the present time. Not only that, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies. For in this hope we were saved; but hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what he can already see? But if we hope for what we do not yet see, we wait for it patiently. In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know how we ought to pray, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groans too deep for words. And He who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God. Romans 8:1-27
Pray to God:
Do you really want to know the WHOLE Truth of what is going on today?
“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened to you.” Matthew 7:7
Lord Jesus, teach me the truth of the world today and give me the wisdom to know the truth and identify the lies of the devil. Thank you God.”
~ “Now that’s what he’s getting at here. You got flesh. You have no obligation to it at all. But on the other hand, it says if, if, by the Spirit, and that’s only by the Spirit that you put to death the misdeeds of the body. That’s the only way you’re going to put aside the misdeeds of the body, is through the Spirit. And that happens, then you’ll live. Because those who are led by the Spirit. Why are you going to live? Because you’re a son of God. Do you have any ability to put aside the misdeeds of the body when you’re lost? You can control them temporarily, but put them away, no way. So he’s talking about here that you have not been received a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received a Spirit of sonship. Now, folks, again, perfect love casts away how much fear? All fear. So what is fear cast away? Are we together? Perfect love. Does God want us to function in perfect love? Yeah. And what does Satan use to keep us from it? Fear? Now, when you are experiencing fear, you are not being led by the Spirit, because God didn’t give you a spirit of fear. And we have to understand the truth of that. How many of you have fearful thoughts come into your head? We all do, don’t we? Where do they coming from? Satan, and we have to understand that. So don’t sit around trying to analyze the thoughts, recognize where they’re coming from, and give them back to him.” ~ Bob George

Bob George 0:27
Now he says, Your spirit is alive because of righteousness, and if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, in other words, if you’re born again, then He who raised Christ from the dead will give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who lives in you. Now, what is that a promise of? he says your body is dead because of sin, and yet the Spirit of God that lives in you is going to give life to this mortal body. Do we understand? Now, what kind of a body is he going to give us? It’s called a spiritual body. What’s a spiritual body look like? Don’t know. Don’t know. Do you know? But we do know one thing that this body, we’re going to get a new body. Now, what else do we know about this body of ours? We also know that flesh and blood will never inherit the kingdom of God. Do we know that? Are we together on that? That’s passage, that’s not me. That’s scripture. Flesh and blood will not inherit the kingdom of God Now what is this body? Flesh and blood. What are my ears? Flesh and blood. What are my eyes? Flesh and blood. What’s his whole body made up of? Flesh and blood. Is it ever going to go to heaven? No. Where is it going to go? Gonna go? To the grave. If you’re in an ocean and it sinks, you’re going to go in the water become whale food. If you get to get buried, you can become worm food. But the body is not going to inherit the kingdom of God. Are we together on that? Do we believe that? And why do people think that this thing is going to inherit the kingdom of God? It’s going to go into the grave and decay. You came from the grave, you’re going to return to the grave. You came from dust, you’re going to return to dust. Am I right or wrong? But he said, I’m going to give you a new body, and that’s the good news. Is we are going to receive a new body.
Now, the issue comes down is when? And that’s debatable. Some people you got, some people had a guy that called the other day want to talk about soul sleep. You know I felt I said, Well, according to your faith, being in none to you, if you want to think you’re going to not get a body for 2000 years, that’s up to you. But I believe what the Scripture teaches is absent from the body and present with the Lord. And I think, as Ellen said, it doesn’t make any sense that while you’re here on this earth, you got a home, but when you die, you’re homeless, you don’t have a body. And I don’t believe that’s true. And I believe that’s why in Thessalonians, it says that at the rapture, those of us who remain behind will not precede those who have fallen asleep before us. What does that mean? The ones who fallen asleep are already there, and those of us that are here at the time of the rapture, we will go to meet them in the air. That’s when they’ll get their glorified body. I think we get ours immediately, and that’s why it says absent from the body and present with the Lord. And so that could be debatable, I assume. And so you have to decide where you want to go on that. But it is just difficult for me to imagine that we’re floating around with no body. So I’m going to go with the body. I think I’m going to get that when I and I’m thankful this is going to go the dust. I’m going to get a new one. And the older you get, the more grateful you are for that. When you’re young, you kind of like the one you got, you know, but so he’s going to give life to our mortal bodies, who lives in you. And we’ll talk about that more in detail in Romans.
Therefore brothers. Now we’ll get back to the lesson, therefore we had, do not have an obligation, or we have an obligation, but it’s not to the old flesh to live according to it. So here’s what it’s saying. You had the old you the Bob George, without the Spirit of God living in me. And he’s saying to me, Bob, you have no obligation at all to obey that guy. He’s dead. You don’t have any obligation to him at all. Again, it’s like an owner of a place of business or an apartment complex, and let’s say you got this owner there, and he just mean as a hornet, and you’re renting from him, and so you got an obligation to pay the rent to him, and he’s bugging you every week, just in there, banging on your door, complaining about the way you live. He’s just making your life miserable for you. And one day somebody comes in says, Mother, Lord, I have good news. What happened? They sold the apartment complex. We got a new owner. Really, no kidding. Yeah, that’s phenomenal. New owner. What kind of a guy is he terrific, terrific guy. He’s full of heart. He’s just a wonderful person. Say, man, that’s terrific. Besides that, he’s going to cut your rent. Said, Man, that is something else. He incidentally, where is the old guy going to live? It on this place before he said, The next door. He He’s renting from him. And so here’s the old owner living next door. Here’s a new owner, and the old owner comes over and starts knocking on your door. Where’s my rent? You left some debris outside the door. Out there. Clean it up. Do you have any obligation at all to obey Him? None at all. But you could. Couldn’t you? You could. You got you’re in such a habit of listening to him and doing what he wants to and living in fear of him that you could just give right back into him and say, okay, sir, I’ll get the things picked up and I’ll do. Can you or not? Could you listen to him? Absolutely. But do you have an obligation to listen to him? No, you’re under new ownership. Now guys, you’ve been bought with a price, haven’t you, and we’re under brand new ownership. You’re not under the ownership of Satan and your old flesh. And therefore you have no obligation at all to obey that old guy, the Bob George, without the Spirit of God living in him, I don’t have any obligation to obey Him. I can. I can listen to him. And sometimes do we do that? Yeah, he comes along and said, Hey, don’t you remember how much fun we used to be before you and go up by the Spirit. And next thing you know, while you’re listening to him, next thing you know, while you’re back doing the things you used to do before you were saved. Any of you ever done that? You don’t need to hold up your hand.
You know, people live in terrible guilt. Many times in lives, we live in terrible guilt because we’re out trying to live the Christian life, and we find ourselves falling on our face. Have any of you ever experienced that? Have any of you ever experienced the things I want to do, I don’t do, and the things I don’t want to do, these things I keep on doing. If any of you ever experienced going through that now, if I’m doing what I don’t want to do, it’s clear that sin living in me. Do you have an obligation to that sin that lives in you? No, but can you grab a hold of it and listen to it? Yeah? Do we do it? Yeah. And then there’s people who live in terrible guilt. The issue is, what kind of an attitude do we have to have as we walk through life? You have to walk through life like this. James said that, if you kept the whole law and yet violated in just one point, you violated all of it, am I right or wrong? What does that do to us in regard, in other words, I’m going to have my acceptance in the sight of God through my good works. What does that do for you? What’s that do for you? Does it annihilate you? Or are you pleased with that statement? All you gotta do is just violate one and you violate all of it. Is that encouraging? Now, what does that tell you? Well, you know what the answer that is, yeah, but you got to try. Yeah, you got to try. Well, you know, it’s like trying to jump over a cliff. You may try, but you’re not going to make it. And you say, well, that’s better than not trying. Well, I would tell you a person who tries will probably live somewhat of a better lifestyle down here on Earth than one who doesn’t try. But as far as God’s servant, he had impressed him at all. Now simply that, Oh, that can’t be he’s got to be impressed with me. Can you imagine God being impressed with you? Ooh, Bob impressed me. Just think about that. And we’re so arrogant that we think we can impress God. He said, you don’t have a chance in a world of acceptance in my sight, apart from being clothed in the righteousness of my Son. And so get rid of all your self righteous attitudes and realize that you too, as good as you may think you’ve lived you too are not going to heaven for only one reason, and that’s because you’re clothed in the righteousness of Jesus. So may as well put all your self righteousness aside and just enjoy your clothing.
Now that’s what he’s getting at here. So don’t sit around trying to analyze the thoughts, recognize where they’re coming from, and give them back to him. It’s like the the old landlord, tell him to get lost. I’m not under your ownership anymore. You don’t own this place anymore. Go back to your apartment and starve to death. Get out of here. Get away from me. And that’s what you have to do when you recognize who it is that’s giving putting that fear in you, oh God, banging on the door, putting fear in you. You’re sitting there fearful, and you say, Wait a minute. He doesn’t own this place anymore. You’re not owned anymore by Satan. You’re owned by God. And so he says that he didn’t give you a spirit of fear, but you receive the Spirit of sonship. You’re made a son of God, and by him, you cry out, Abba. And that word is Daddy. It’s a Hebrew word, meaning Daddy, Father, calling him daddy. That’s what the little kids over in Israel walk around calling their dad. Abba, abba. Abba. Daddy, Daddy, Daddy. The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. Say, how do you know? People say, how do you know you’re saved? Well, if you don’t know you’re saved, something’s wrong, because your spirit should be testifying to the fact that you are saved, but if you get the idea I’m saved only as long as I’m behaving properly and that, and you’re taught that, right? Why then you can say, well, maybe I’m not, or if you think you were just one of the elect, and if I’m one of the elect, so I must be saved, but I sure didn’t act like it. Maybe I’m not one of the elect. But do you know when you were saved? I don’t mean necessarily having to know the date. I don’t know the date. I wasn’t aware of, the day I was born physically. But do you know when you were born spiritually? Do you know it? Do you know the approximate time? People come back and say, Well, I don’t remember the time, but I was, I know one thing. I was back in grade school when I accepted the Lord had one little grandchildren except him on the roof. I didn’t know he’s up there. You know what you saved? Because if you do, your spirit is going to testify to the fact that you are God’s children.

Now, if we’re God’s children, then we’re heirs. In other words, we are the have the inheritance of everything he’s provided for us, heirs of God and coheirs with Christ, if indeed, we share in his sufferings, in order that we may also share in His glory. What does that tell us? What does that tell us that life is just going to be as rosy you just. Come to Jesus, all your problems go away. How many heard that at one time? How many of you heard that? I did too. I found out that wasn’t true. So we’re going to in this world. He said you are going to have what? Tribulation you’re going to have tribulation if you’re if you live long enough, you’re probably going to see your parents die. I was orphaned at 36 or so, saw your parents die. You can see your brothers and sisters die. You can see friends die. Someone said to Amy one time, you know, we really ought to live to be about 120 she said, why would I want to live that old, all my friends would be dead?
So the whole issue is that we are going to have suffering and trials and tribulation in this world. But he said, What do you say about that? Fear not I have what? I’ve overcome the world. So whatever we’re going through, can God take it and work it together for your good? If you’ll look on that side of it, you know, sometimes folks, we are so negative in our thinking. It’s just unbelievable. Every you know, everybody sees some people, some people just see everything negative. They never see a positive to anything. It’s always negative. And and God, I think, he says, Look, get get a life. Get off of that negative kick and start seeing things from God’s perspective. That’s man down here, this thing and everything’s bad. No, that’s man stuff. Start looking at things from God’s perspective. And God says, I will cause all things to work together for your good. If you love being or called according to the purpose, I’ll cause it to work together for good. That didn’t say I’m going to make bad good. It just says I’m going to cause it to work together for good. And so every experience that we go through, if we’ll look at it from God’s perspective, we’ll say, I learned something from that. I learned something. Now that doesn’t mean that you go out and wreck your car, so that you’ll learn how to respond when your car is wrecked, but it just means that if you get in a wreck, you’re going to learn how to respond. If all of a sudden you’re sick, you’re going to learn how you respond. And how you respond is totally is how well you’ve been equipped, how you respond to a trial and tribulation is totally predicated on how well trained you are, in truth. Because when you go through the trial and tribulation, that’s too late to try to get trained. That’s why it’s important to know the Word of God and to study the Word of God and to mature in the Word of God. Why? Because some days you’re going to need this. I’ve had people say I’ve never had a trials and tribulation. Well, just just keep hanging in there. You will just, just hang on. Don’t, don’t think that you’ve been slighted, but you will. And are you prepared for it?
So he said, I consider that our present suffering, so Paul’s talking about some of the suffering that they are going through is not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us. He says, My body is going through trials and tribulation, and there may be some of you that are going through trials and tribulations physically, he said, as a matter of fact, he said, the whole creation waits in eager expectation for the sons of God to be revealed. For the creation was subject to frustration, subjected to frustration not only about it, not by its own choice, but by the will of the one who subjected it in hope that the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the glorious freedom of the children of God, even nature groans, even nature struggles with decay and with death, doesn’t it? So he says, the whole world is under this area of suffering. But he said, I don’t consider that even worthy to compare with the glory that’s revealed in God. But we know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to this present time, and that’s just right now. And not only so, but we ourselves, who have the first fruit of the Spirit grown inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies.
His body’s going downhill. It’s aging. In Paul’s case, it was probably beaten half to death. And many times people have gone through suffering. You say, the people have been over in war. They’ve had all kinds of tragedies happen to that their bodies are suffering. But he says, I groan inwardly as I wait eagerly for the redemption of my body, for it is in this hope that we were saved, that hope that is seen is no hope at all. I don’t see my glorified body. I just see my real one, and who hopes for what he already has. For, if we hope for what we do not have we wait for it patiently and in the same way, the Spirit helps us, it says in our weakness, we don’t know what we ought to pray for. How many of you ever run into that I don’t even know what to pray for? Have anybody? Most of you guys, have you run into that seriously, where you’re just so burdened you don’t even know what to ask God. I mean, the best prayer you could just say is, Help. you just don’t know what. You just don’t know even know what to say. He says, Well, that’s okay. The Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express.
Now, folks, that doesn’t mean to be sitting around groaning for Jesus. You got people in there thinking, Oh, that means to groan for Jesus, or that, you know, and all that kind of stuff. It’s not talking about that. It’s, it talks about the fact that the Spirit intercedes with us the groans of Words cannot express. I am so burdened inside that I can’t even express it. And he said, but the one who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit. Now, remember what it says that no one knows what another man is thinking except the spirit that lives within him. I don’t have a clue what you’re thinking right now, except your spirit knows. It says in the same way, no one knows what God is thinking except his Spirit, and you say, Uh oh, how am I ever going to know what God’s thinking? Said, keep reading. But God has not given us a spirit of fear. He said, God has given us His Spirit so that we can know and comprehend those things that God has freely given us. So we have the Spirit of God living in us. And because he lives in us, he says, we have the mind of the Spirit living in us. And it says he researches our heart, knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance with God’s will. When you don’t know what to pray for, don’t worry about it. The Spirit does. The Spirit knows what you’re thinking. The Spirit knows your heartaches. He knows your trials, He knows your tribulation, and He intercedes for you when you don’t even know what to ask God for. Is that kind of realizing that it’s all Jesus and none of us? And folks, it’s when we come to understand the truth of this that it’s all Jesus and it’s none of us.
Now, how do we respond to that? Well, there are some people that are so rebellious in their nature they never are going to respond to anything. You know what that is? It’s pride. They’re isn’t anything more disgusting than pride, the man who thinks they’re too smart for God, the man that thinks that they’re just too bright for God, and we got a lot of people like that. And there isn’t any more disgusting in the heart of God than a prideful heart. And yet, there are some people that are too prideful for Jesus. Do you know if that pride continues on, and a person continues in that you know where you’re going to end up? You’re going to end up in a pit of hell. Say, I don’t believe that. What basis do you have for your unbelief? You know, you get all kinds of people come up and say, Oh, I believe this. Well, where did, where did you hear that? Where did you gain that information you weren’t born with that? You had to get it someplace. So where’d you get it? Where did you come up with this idea that that there is no hell, or there is no hell? Where’d you come up with that idea? The Bible says there is hell. The Bible says there’s also heaven. And it says where you live eternally is your choice. It’s your choice. You can either come to me. I didn’t say to come to me, to be a Presbyterian or a Methodist or a People to Peopler, come to me for life or remain dead. There’s your choice. Now I’m, quite frankly, you got to be pretty stupid to want to remain dead. I don’t call that rebellion. I call it stupidity when a person chooses to remain dead instead of receiving life. And that’s what God said. I cleaned up your sins. There’s not a sin in the world, not a sin in a world that you’ll be responsible for. I have taken them away, and I did that to offer you eternal life. Now, do you want life or do you want to remain dead? There’s a choice, isn’t it? Aren’t you glad you chose life?
Let’s pray together, Father, we want to thank you for the Lord Jesus Christ and for his love for us. This is not religion we’re talking about it’s a practical solution to a human being. We are humans, and we grew into this world, born into this world, fallen, and you came to raise us up. It’s not religious. It’s not a religion. It’s practical. Now the God of this universe looked down at his creation and saw that we needed life, and the only way that he could give us eternal life was by taking away eternally the cause of death. And that’s sin, that’s the cross. But after the cross is the resurrection, and that’s where we come to You to receive what we do not have life, life eternal, and the journey begins. We thank you for this in Jesus name Amen.

John 3:3
3 Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.”
