Classic Christianity – Book of Romans P05 (10-08-24)
Jesus Came To Earth In Order to Give You Life From the Dead
“The thief comes only that he might steal and might kill and might destroy. I came that they may have life, and may have it abundantly.” John 10:10 “Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the LIFE. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” John 14:6
~ Without Jesus, a person is Dead. They do not have the Spirit of God living in them. This is key to understanding everything. Without Jesus, we are incomplete. We are only half Man. God always had intended Man to be indwelt by God Himself. That is the mystery that was hidden that has now been revealed to the Saints, “Christ in you, your hope of Glory!”
“Now I rejoice in the sufferings for you, and I am filling up in my flesh that which is lacking of the tribulations of Christ for His body, which is the church, of which I became a minister according to the administration of God having been given me toward you, to complete the word of God, the mystery having been hidden from the ages and from the generations, but now having been manifested to His saints, to whom God has willed to make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory, whom we preach, admonishing every man and teaching every man in all wisdom, so that we may present every man perfect in Christ.” Colossians 1:24-28
We can see that from the Old testament too. Just like Paul was taught by God himself, we too are taught by God himself, through the word of God. We see that when Adam and Eve died, they died immediately, for the Spirit of God had departed them at that very moment in time. Likewise, when a person places faith in Jesus to have taken care of the sin issue, the Holy Spirit comes to live in them, to make them a brand new creation.
There are people today, that still do not understand what salvation is. They will make it out to be some future point in time when a person gets their new eternal body. But here is the thing, a person is given Life immediately upon placing faith in Jesus, God in the flesh, for having taken away ALL their sins at the cross. It is not some future life giving aspect of things. Sure you get a new body when this body of flesh wakes up no more, but a child of God simply gets new clothing that no longer wears out, that houses the true person. We get a new house, one that lasts forever.
So if you are listening to someone today that is preaching a future salvation, and implying that you could lose that future salvation if you don’t toe the line, it is simply showing everyone that they do not understand salvation, and they themselves are not saved. By their fruits you will recognize them. They do not have the Spirit of God living in them. They do NOT have Christ in them! It’s a subtle thing, but you will recognize it when you see it or hear it, for anyone who is in Christ, they have the mind of God living in them, and He will make known all things to them. Today there are those that are ignorant, and then there are those that openly preach Satan’s lies. For they are the ones that preach a form of holiness doctrine. Ask for God to give you wisdom and understanding to know who is ignorant and needs teaching, and who is lost and speaking for Satan and needs rebuking. For Jesus rebuked those that needed rebuked, and He taught others in compassion and understanding to those that were ignorant of Truth. Paul did the same thing too, when being led by the Spirit of God. So allow yourself to be led by the Spirit of God, if indeed He is alive living in you. And if you are not sure, then put that to rest today. Understand the gospel of Jesus, the One who saves a person completely.
~
~ Paul, a servant of Christ Jesus, called an apostle, and set apart for the gospel of God— the gospel He promised beforehand through His prophets in the Holy Scriptures, regarding His Son, who was a descendant of David according to the flesh, and who through the Spirit of holiness was declared with power to be the Son of God by His resurrection from the dead: Jesus Christ our Lord. Through Him and on behalf of His name, we received grace and apostleship to call all those among the Gentiles to the obedience that comes from faith. And you also are among those who are called to belong to Jesus Christ. To all in Rome who are loved by God and called saints: Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for all of you, because your faith is being proclaimed all over the world. God, whom I serve with my spirit in preaching the gospel of His Son, is my witness how constantly I remember you in my prayers at all times, asking that now at last by God’s will I may succeed in coming to you. For I long to see you so that I may impart to you some spiritual gift to strengthen you, that is, that you and I may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith. I do not want you to be unaware, brothers, how often I planned to come to you (but have been prevented from visiting until now), in order that I might have a harvest among you, just as I have had among the other Gentiles. I am obligated both to Greeks and non-Greeks, both to the wise and the foolish. That is why I am so eager to preach the gospel also to you who are in Rome. I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, first to the Judaean [Ἰουδαίῳ (Ioudaiō)], then to the Greek. For the gospel reveals the righteousness of God that comes by faith from start to finish, just as it is written: “The righteous will live by faith.” Romans 1:1-17
Pray to God:
Do you really want to know the WHOLE Truth of what is going on today?
“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened to you.” Matthew 7:7
Lord Jesus, teach me the truth of the world today and give me the wisdom to know the truth and identify the lies of the devil. Thank you God.”
~ “You’re not walking by faith by asking God to do what he’s already done. I’d be like Christmas your dad gives you a bicycle. And then the kid said, Hey, can I have a bicycle? He said, What do you think’s over the corner. Well, it’s a bicycle. Could I have one? I think this kid needs a mental problem, needs some Prozac. Do you understand that, folks, when you have something, you don’t ask for something. Well, what have we done? Well, we have whole religious systems. One of them came out of Rome. You got confession booths. What do you do there? Go confess your sins. Then what do you do? Have some penance. Is that scriptural? No, if you’re in Christ, God was in Christ taking away the sins of the world. Well, then the Protestants come along say, oh, that ain’t good. You don’t have to go to the priest to get forgiveness. You can go direct. So we’re all down here going direct, and we just are so proud of ourselves because we go direct, but they have to go through a priest, and God’s up in heaven saying it’s finished. When are you what’s going to get in your head? It’s finished, it’s over. It’s done. I am not going to hang on a cross again. When I died on that cross, I died for all, once and for all period, and I even cried out from the cross. It’s finished! What do you suppose that means? It’s finished. What’s that mean in the Greek? It’s finished, it’s over. It’s done. Put that aside. It’s what’s called entering into the Sabbath. Rest. Go rest from your works, as he did from his there’s no more you can do to get forgiveness, you’re a forgiven person. And now that having been accomplished, I went into a grave, but I was raised from the dead. And the reason I was raised from the dead is so that that life that raised me from the dead can raise you from the dead, because you’re dead, and if you don’t recognize you’re dead spiritually, then what would his life mean to you? Except just an example. What would Jesus do? He said, I came to give you what? LIFE. Now, folks, that’s the power of God. That’s the power of God that Paul says, I’m not ashamed of this gospel. It’s the power to raise you from the dead. It’s the power of God to bring salvation. What is salvation, being saved from what? The consequence of sin? There’s sin and a consequence isn’t there? What’s the consequence of sin? Death. What’s the solution to that, forgiveness? Life.” ~ Bob George

Now we’ve had a half salvation, in my opinion, preached long enough, and we continually, continually are hearing on radio and television, and continually come to Jesus and get your sins forgiven. I got news for you folks, your sins were forgiven before you ever came to Jesus. God was in Christ reconciling the world unto himself when? When you were enemies, while you were yet enemies, God reconciled you to the death of his Son. What does it mean when you’re enemy? It means when you’re lost. You were born into this world a forgiven person, born that way, born under the consequence of the Cross, which is taking away the sins of the world. No one will ever be condemned by God for his sins. I’ve taken those away. The only sin attributable to man is the rejection of the Son who took away the sins of the world and was raised from the dead to give you life. That’s only sin that you will ever be asked by God, what did you do with my Son? Did you ignore him? Did you say I don’t need him? Or did you recognize what I told you about yourself? The reason I told you about yourself is so that you’ll be prepared for what I’m going to tell you about my Son. Did you come to him for life? And what we have done is to put the cross as the focal point of our ministry instead of the resurrection. Paul said, without the resurrection, we’re to be pitied of all people and are still in our sins. I thought the cross took care of the sins, that’s true, but it’s only received in the resurrected life of Christ Jesus. What was provided for you then is received in him now. So you come to Christ for life. You come to Christ for him, not just what he did for you, but for him, and when you’re in Christ, you have possession, redemption, the forgiveness of sins. Are you in Christ? Then what do you have? Redemption. What else do you have? Forgiveness of sins. You don’t get forgiven. You are forgiven. If that’s a truth. You spend the rest of your life thanking him for what he did instead of asking him for to do something that he’s already accomplished.
You’re not walking by faith by asking God to do what he’s already done. Life.
Now, in order to give you eternal life, what did he have to do with the cause of spiritual death? Take it away. Had he not taken away every sin that you and I have ever committed, if he would have forgotten one and gave you life and you did that one, what would happen to you? Are y’all with me? What would happen to you? You’d die. Is that eternal life? No How was he able to give you eternal life? By eternally taking away the cause of death, which is what he did at the cross, I took the entire sins of the whole world upon myself. Not one did I forget. And there I died. I paid the price for you. I paid a debt that I didn’t know for you who owed a debt that you couldn’t pay. And I did it volitionally. I did it joyfully, although I wasn’t real excited about taking the sins of the world upon myself, and that’s why I cried out, Father, it’s not my will, but yours be done. If there’s any way to take this away from me, do it, I’m not real interested in becoming a junk heap. But it’s not my will, it’s yours. And there Jesus took upon himself every sloppy thing that you and I have ever said and done in our entire lives and every day that we were drunk, and every curse word that we’ve ever said and every bad thought that we’ve ever had, he took upon himself, and there he who knew no sin became sin for you and me, so that in that resurrected life of Jesus, we could become the righteousness of God. Where? In him, in him. That’s the power of God, folks, that’s the power of God for salvation.
I’ve told people before, always interested miracles and miracles and miracles and miracles. I would tell you something, if someone cut my leg off and God grew it back the next day, it wouldn’t even come that close to even match up with the miracle of the day I was saved back in 1969 going in one direction as fast as you could, and coming to Jesus and going the other direction as fast as you could. There’s no miracle that you will ever see. That’s why Jesus said you’re an adulterous generation always looking for a sign. And you’ve got denominations today. That’s all they’re doing, looking for a sign, looking for a sign, looking for a sign. He said, I’ll show you a sign. Take a look at the resurrection. You want to see a sign? Take a look at the resurrection. And if you’re not willing to come to me with that sign, you’re not going to be willing to say you’re not going to be willing to come to me, because I made somebody walk that couldn’t. And yet today we have people. That’s all they talk about. You’d think there weren’t any well Christians. That’s all we’re talking about. Is healing, healing, healing, healing, healing. What do us they were well, do? Sit around wait to get sick?
Folks, the power of God for salvation is that internal new birth that comes when you and I come to life in Jesus, where I got somebody to talk to, where I don’t bounce prayers off the ceiling, where I’ve got a best friend that’s closer to me than my own breath, someone I can talk to and love and loves me. It’s a relationship with Christ. It’s not religion. It’s one of the reasons we got these tables in here to keep it looking like religion. I hate religion, but I love Jesus. The word religion is a return to bondage. I don’t know where we ever got around to where we are today. I mean, it’s amazing to me how we acknowledge these things, of people walking around in funny looking hats and robes, collars on backwards, which shows you’re walking in the wrong direction, all of those type of pretenses. What do those things do? Does that make you look kind of funny? Why do they always dress in black? Maybe it’s darker than we think. And all that’s religion, folks, all of it’s religious stuff. Jesus is talking about having a relationship with me, that if you were the only person on the face of the earth, you could just rejoice in your love with each other. If that table over there was the only born again people in the world that could sit there and enjoy Christ and one another. They didn’t come to build big buildings. Constantine did that like to ruin the whole concept that Jesus put into effect, making a state religion out of Christianity ruined it.
And so Paul is going into that type of environment and saying, Guys, I’m not ashamed of this gospel. It’s the power of God for salvation, first of all, to everyone who believes. Is, and now he’s going to define humanity. First it’s going to the Hebrew, and then it’s going to the Gentile. So that included everyone didn’t it. There’s no one missed in that Hebrew and a Gentile. For in the gospel, he says a righteousness from God. And guys, if you mark your Bible, mark that term a righteousness from God, because this is what we’re talking about. Is a righteousness from God. Now, what other kind of righteousness is there? Self righteousness. How does self righteousness manifest itself? Pride. And what do you have to have to be self righteous? What would you have to be grabbing a hold of to be self righteous? Well, you gotta have some laws, don’t you, and some rules and regulations, right? And then I do all of those things. You don’t. Am I right or wrong? You see guys, when you get down to a point where you’ve got a bunch of things that you have to do, and you’re going to do them, there’s only two things that can occur. I’m going to compare myself, and when you compare yourself with somebody else, there’s only two things can happen. One, I’m better than they are, that’s pride, and the other, I’m worse than they are, that’s self condemnation, and both of those things are right out of the pit of hell. So I’ve got to have some rules and regulations. And so the Hebrews grabbed hold of the law. And the law was given for civil obedience. The reason God gave the law to the Hebrew, never to the Gentile. The gentile never did have it. We just went over and stole it. He gave it to the Hebrew after they had left Egypt and were going to be roaming in the desert, and there were millions of them, and they were strong, they had been slaves. So in order for them not to just murder each other and to have any kind of civil obedience and not to have total anarchy, he gave them laws to live by the 10 Commandments.

He also knew that they were going to be roaming in the desert for 40 years, so he gave them dietary laws to keep them from killing themselves. And he said things like, don’t eat pork, you know, they didn’t General Electric didn’t have refrigerators back in those days, and so you had refrigeration problems. So that kind of stuff will kill you, unrefrigerated. So there were dietary laws that he gave to people to keep them alive, living where? In the desert, in the desert, it was for the purpose of preservation. Did God have an interest in preserving the Hebrew bloodline? Did he why? Because out of the Hebrew bloodline was going to come who? Jesus, the Messiah. So he preserved the Hebrews, and he told them, here’s how to live without killing yourself. He gave civil laws, he gave dietary laws, and he said, This is for your good. What did we do with them? Well, we got the priest, and they said, We gotta have something to do. So let’s make those laws a means of righteousness, that if we keep these laws, we will be righteous in the sight of God. God will just be pleased as punch with us. God didn’t give us the laws to make him pleased as punch. He gave us laws to keep us from killing ourselves. He gave us the law to keep us from getting into total anarchy and to keep from killing yourself by eating bad foods. But we took it and said, No, no, no, this is how this what pleases God. This. This is really pleasing to God. Why did he give us a day of rest. Why? So that we don’t work like Richard, he needs a day off. You can work six days, but you need a day off. What do you give us a day of day off for? To rest. Am I right? Are we all together on this to rest? Why? Because you need rest. When they were slaves in Egypt, did they have a day off? Never. This was something brand new, a day off. I worked every day as a slave, I know, but I’m giving you a day off. You need a day of rest to restore your body, to build yourself back up again, so that you go back out and work provide for your family and the things that you need to do. What did we do with it? Made it a holy thing.
You see again, guys, we are like a person with the dog. We’re pointing to the dog and saying, go over there, and the dog comes up and sniffs your finger. You’re pointing over there, and he wants to sniff your finger. And it’s the same thing the law was for over there, and we’re up sniffing the finger. And so we use this day of the week and say, oh boy, if you don’t worship on Sunday, it doesn’t make whether you worship on Wednesday. You need a day of rest. Now, the day of rest happened to become on the Sabbath on Saturday. It doesn’t matter whether it’s Sunday or Saturday or Monday or Tuesday. It was merely that you need a day of rest, and it’s not to make yourself holy, and it’s not to be obedient to God. It’s to for your own preservation and your own good. Jesus said, was the Sabbath made for you, or were you made for the Sabbath? He tried to tell people back then, you’re sniffing my finger. I’m pointing to something. We didn’t listen. We didn’t listen, and so man still is not listening.
We are still in the process of trying to make these things something that I can do, that deep down in my heart I hope you’re not doing so that I can look down on you and say, look what I’m doing. Am I right or wrong? And that’s the law. So what did the Hebrews do with the law? They took it and made it an act of righteousness instead of obedience, for our own good. He came in and said, No, no, no. Paul said, I got some good news, folks. I want to tell you something. I’m not ashamed of it. And Paul would be a person saying, as far as legalistic obedience is concerned, I was without equal, without equal. There was no one that was as obedient, obedient to the law as me the apostle Paul, and he said, I consider all of that stuff dung compared to that of knowing Jesus, and I am so happy that I’m not ashamed of this gospel that has annihilated all of this self righteousness. And I’m here to tell you about a righteousness from God. There’s that word, hang on to it, a righteousness from God. Now, folks, a righteousness from God means that I’m going to put you into a position of righteousness, and I’m going to do it, you’re not going to have anything to do with it. If I name you an ambassador, you’re an ambassador. You didn’t have anything to do with it. I elected you to be an ambassador. And that’s what he is saying here, is that this righteousness that you possess is a gift from God, you had nothing to do with it except to come and receive it. That’s all you could do with a gift of righteousness, receive it, or what? Reject it. When you receive it, you possess righteousness. You possess it. It is because of God that you are in Christ, Jesus, who has become for us, what? Our righteousness. He is your righteousness. Why I was told I don’t have any and that’s why folks that when I came to Christ, first of all, I had to accept the fact that at the Cross I was cleansed of all that I was, unrighteous. I had to be cleansed of all of that unrighteousness in order to be filled by Him and His righteousness. But I don’t stand in mine. I don’t have any do you? How many of you have ever sat there thinking how righteous we are?
Now I’ll tell you when I was involved in the obsession with confession for forgiveness, I thought I was righteous that I had short accounts with God. I have all my sins confessed. See, sin, sin is not the problem just so it’s confessed. Just be sure you get it confessed before you die, you’ll be okay, and so righteousness would come. I mean, I can literally say and Amy same way we call we’re in that same deal that it’s obvious to me that old Paul there didn’t have all his sins confessed. It’s obvious to me now I’ve got all mine. I’m clean as a pen before God, but I think he’s got some stains on him over there. What is that? What is that? Self righteousness. Thinking that I have done something to make myself what? More righteous than you. So here is Paul, who’s coming and saying, I’m going to introduce something brand new to you, and I’m not ashamed of it. It’s a righteousness from God. So what have we done? Taken the righteousness from God and used it to proclaim myself righteousness? That’s why Jesus called us sheep, the dumbest animals on the face of the earth, sheep, and that’s what he referred to us as, a sheep, that one the leader, will go off of a cliff, and all of them just go follow him. Does that sound familiar, guys? He says, I’ve got a gospel, a righteousness, that is from God, it’s going to be revealed to you, and that righteousness is by faith from the start to the finish, from the first to the last. It’s by faith and faith alone, and just as it has been written, The righteous will live by what? Faith.
Now, folks, what I have given you here is the key to the book of Romans. This is what every passage to be interpreted in the book of Romans must flow through. This is the funnel. This is the key. This is the reason he wrote the book. Is to say that we have a gospel that I don’t care whether you’re representing it to all of the pompous people in Rome or to the most depraved and the most poor people someplace else. It’s universal in scope. It’s true all over the world. And if it isn’t true one place, it’s not gospel.
That’s why I’ve said before, with this prosperity garbage that is being perpetuated around the country, you go into New Guinea, into one of those remote areas and preach a prosperity gospel, just name it and claim it boys. The Bible says anyone teaching that godliness is a means to God or that to financial gain is a man of a perverted mind. So people, if you’ve listened to people like that in the past, you’ve been listening to a person with perverted mind, and if you’ve been listening to a person with a perverted mind, you’re capable of listening to another one, so be careful who you listen to, including me. I could be lying to you. Do you know how you’re going to know whether I’m lying to you or not? How many of you are born again in this room? How many of you have the Spirit of God living in you? What has the Spirit of God promised you? To teach you the meaning of the word of God? How do you know whether I’m telling you the truth or not? Get into this book and read it and ask God to reveal the meaning of it to you, and if we agree with each other, you’re smart.
That’s how you know. Folks now, is that a miracle of God? Is that a power of God? That God can take the Scripture and you can go over. We get calls from people in Australia, New Guinea, Europe, all over the world now the internet’s in effect, coming down, coming back, reading our books and saying, you know, this is something that I’ve known down my heart forever. Same time I really Chinese. It doesn’t make any difference whether you speak this language or that language, or whatever language. It doesn’t make any difference. You go over to Russia, talk to people who are in Christ and who’ve studied the word, they say, yeah, that’s yeah. That’s what I believe. That’s really great. So if you have the Spirit of God living in you, you have the ability to comprehend the meaning of the word of God and to take it in context. And guys, again, I emphasize this fact of us being sober minded, God doesn’t want us to be silly. You know, he had this one guy was going around with this laughing stuff, where everybody was walking around laughing and giggling all over the place. Can you imagine Jesus and the guy’s just sitting around giggling, just giggling. All, I mean, come on, is this what Christianity is when you got people with their guts hanging out and people divorced and kids with problems and drugs and alcohol to sit around giggling, laughing, giggling, and say, Oh, it’s a joy of the Lord. No, it isn’t. It’s stupidity, but we have it, don’t we?

3 Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.”
