Classic Christianity – Book of Romans P06 (10-09-24)

Faith is Properly Responding to Truth ~ You Are Forgiven!

“That God was reconciling the world to Himself in Christ, not counting men’s trespasses (sins) against them. And He has committed to us the message of reconciliation.” 2 Corinthians 5:19

~ God is telling you, He is not counting anyone’s sins against them. But most refuse to believe it. They have been brainwashed to believe the lie of ongoing forgiveness by God. People have a difficult time accepting that they have been lied to by their priests and by their pastors. They would rather trust in what a man says, rather than the truth of the word of God. And folks this is the foundation. If a person refuses to trust in what God has done at the cross, then how can a person ever trust that their sins were completely forgiven? And by their very actions, they display that they have not placed faith in the Jesus of the bible. They have placed faith in another Jesus. One that will forgive you, IF you ask for it. They live in the confession booth or in the virtual confession booth of their mind, of asking God to do what he has already done.

The book of Romans addresses all these issues. But most read the book of Romans without exercising faith. They think, that is nice to hear that our righteousness is in Christ Jesus, and then what do they do? They go back to their confession booths. How much sense does that make? They deny the word of God by their very actions. And most are not even called out on it. Satan has us so bottled up that most will not tell it like it is. We wrongly believe another lie, that we should not judge others, as though there is something evil with judging others. Many take a verse of scripture out of context, and say, “we should not judge, or we will be judged” as though God is going to do the judging of you for having judged others. But here is the thing, All true children of God judge ALL things. “The spiritual man judges all things, but he himself is not subject to anyone’s judgment.” 1 Corinthians 2:15

Folks, is it not better to make sure a person is saved, then assume they are saved? Which is more loving? Allow a person to die, or offer a person eternal life through Jesus? Do you really think God wants you to be quiet about the lie that is being placed on the world, of ongoing forgiveness by God? Or do you think God wants each of us to set the record straight?

And there are people today that are promoting other ministries that don’t even have this foundational truth right. Do the research. Find out what these other ministries believe and teach. For there are lots of gate keepers today, that will teach one area of truth, mixed in with a whole bunch of lies. And when you point this out to some people, they will not like hearing it. They have an obsession with confession to get forgiveness by God.

It’s okay to change your mind (repent). If a person has not repented of anything in the last four years, then they obviously must know it all. Their pride will not allow them to say they were wrong, or they themselves believed the lies. But if the Holy Spirit is alive living in you, He will be renewing your mind. He will be constantly pointing out the truth to you. And you will indeed be changing your mind on many many things. For we were born into a world of lies. Pay attention to the Holy Spirit teaching you truth. He has much to say to each of us today. Details matter in Everything, especially the word of God. It’s ALL in the details.

~

~ Paul, a servant of Christ Jesus, called an apostle, and set apart for the gospel of God— the gospel He promised beforehand through His prophets in the Holy Scriptures, regarding His Son, who was a descendant of David according to the flesh, and who through the Spirit of holiness was declared with power to be the Son of God by His resurrection from the dead: Jesus Christ our Lord.

Through Him and on behalf of His name, we received grace and apostleship to call all those among the Gentiles to the obedience that comes from faith. And you also are among those who are called to belong to Jesus Christ.

To all in Rome who are loved by God and called saints:

Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for all of you, because your faith is being proclaimed all over the world. God, whom I serve with my spirit in preaching the gospel of His Son, is my witness how constantly I remember you in my prayers at all times, asking that now at last by God’s will I may succeed in coming to you. For I long to see you so that I may impart to you some spiritual gift to strengthen you, that is, that you and I may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith.

I do not want you to be unaware, brothers, how often I planned to come to you (but have been prevented from visiting until now), in order that I might have a harvest among you, just as I have had among the other Gentiles. I am obligated both to Greeks and non-Greeks, both to the wise and the foolish. That is why I am so eager to preach the gospel also to you who are in Rome.

I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, first to the Judaean [Ἰουδαίῳ (Ioudaiō)], then to the Greek. For the gospel reveals the righteousness of God that comes by faith from start to finish, just as it is written: “The righteous will live by faith.” Romans 1:1-17

Pray to God:

Do you really want to know the WHOLE Truth of what is going on today?

“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened to you.” Matthew 7:7

Lord Jesus, teach me the truth of the world today and give me the wisdom to know the truth and identify the lies of the devil. Thank you God.”

~ “Now I’ll tell you when I was involved in the obsession with confession for forgiveness, I thought I was righteous that I had short accounts with God. I have all my sins confessed. See, sin, sin is not the problem just so it’s confessed. Just be sure you get it confessed before you die, you’ll be okay, and so righteousness would come. I mean, I can literally say and Amy same way we call we’re in that same deal that it’s obvious to me that old Paul there didn’t have all his sins confessed. It’s obvious to me now I’ve got all mine. I’m clean as a pen before God, but I think he’s got some stains on him over there. What is that? What is that? Self righteousness. Thinking that I have done something to make myself what? More righteous than you. So here is Paul, who’s coming and saying, I’m going to introduce something brand new to you, and I’m not ashamed of it. It’s a righteousness from God. So what have we done? Taken the righteousness from God and used it to proclaim myself righteousness? That’s why Jesus called us sheep, the dumbest animals on the face of the earth, sheep, and that’s what he referred to us as, a sheep, that one the leader, will go off of a cliff, and all of them just go follow him. Does that sound familiar, guys? He says, I’ve got a gospel, a righteousness, that is from God, it’s going to be revealed to you, and that righteousness is by faith from the start to the finish, from the first to the last. It’s by faith and faith alone, and just as it has been written, The righteous will live by what? Faith.” ~ Bob George

Bob George 0:29
Jesus is talking about having a relationship with me, that if you were the only person on the face of the earth, you could just rejoice in your love with each other. If that table over there was the only born again people in the world that could sit there and enjoy Christ and one another. They didn’t come to build big buildings. Constantine did that like to ruin the whole concept that Jesus put into effect, making a state religion out of Christianity ruined it.

And so Paul is going into that type of environment and saying, Guys, I’m not ashamed of this gospel. It’s the power of God for salvation, first of all, to everyone who believes. Is, and now he’s going to define humanity. First it’s going to the Hebrew, and then it’s going to the Gentile. So that included everyone didn’t it. There’s no one missed in that Hebrew and a Gentile. For in the gospel, he says a righteousness from God. And guys, if you mark your Bible, mark that term a righteousness from God, because this is what we’re talking about. Is a righteousness from God. Now, what other kind of righteousness is there? Self righteousness. How does self righteousness manifest itself? Pride. And what do you have to have to be self righteous? What would you have to be grabbing a hold of to be self righteous? Well, you gotta have some laws, don’t you, and some rules and regulations, right? And then I do all of those things. You don’t. Am I right or wrong? You see guys, when you get down to a point where you’ve got a bunch of things that you have to do, and you’re going to do them, there’s only two things that can occur. I’m going to compare myself, and when you compare yourself with somebody else, there’s only two things can happen. One, I’m better than they are, that’s pride, and the other, I’m worse than they are, that’s self condemnation, and both of those things are right out of the pit of hell. So I’ve got to have some rules and regulations. And so the Hebrews grabbed hold of the law. And the law was given for civil obedience. The reason God gave the law to the Hebrew, never to the Gentile. The gentile never did have it. We just went over and stole it. He gave it to the Hebrew after they had left Egypt and were going to be roaming in the desert, and there were millions of them, and they were strong, they had been slaves. So in order for them not to just murder each other and to have any kind of civil obedience and not to have total anarchy, he gave them laws to live by the 10 Commandments.
He also knew that they were going to be roaming in the desert for 40 years, so he gave them dietary laws to keep them from killing themselves. And he said things like, don’t eat pork, you know, they didn’t General Electric didn’t have refrigerators back in those days, and so you had refrigeration problems. So that kind of stuff will kill you, unrefrigerated. So there were dietary laws that he gave to people to keep them alive, living where? In the desert, in the desert, it was for the purpose of preservation. Did God have an interest in preserving the Hebrew bloodline? Did he why? Because out of the Hebrew bloodline was going to come who? Jesus, the Messiah. So he preserved the Hebrews, and he told them, here’s how to live without killing yourself. He gave civil laws, he gave dietary laws, and he said, This is for your good. What did we do with them? Well, we got the priest, and they said, We gotta have something to do. So let’s make those laws a means of righteousness, that if we keep these laws, we will be righteous in the sight of God. God will just be pleased as punch with us. God didn’t give us the laws to make him pleased as punch. He gave us laws to keep us from killing ourselves. He gave us the law to keep us from getting into total anarchy and to keep from killing yourself by eating bad foods. But we took it and said, No, no, no, this is how this what pleases God. This. This is really pleasing to God. Why did he give us a day of rest. Why? So that we don’t work like Richard, he needs a day off. You can work six days, but you need a day off. What do you give us a day of day off for? To rest. Am I right? Are we all together on this to rest? Why? Because you need rest. When they were slaves in Egypt, did they have a day off? Never. This was something brand new, a day off. I worked every day as a slave, I know, but I’m giving you a day off. You need a day of rest to restore your body, to build yourself back up again, so that you go back out and work provide for your family and the things that you need to do. What did we do with it? Made it a holy thing.

You see again, guys, we are like a person with the dog. We’re pointing to the dog and saying, go over there, and the dog comes up and sniffs your finger. You’re pointing over there, and he wants to sniff your finger. And it’s the same thing the law was for over there, and we’re up sniffing the finger. And so we use this day of the week and say, oh boy, if you don’t worship on Sunday, it doesn’t make whether you worship on Wednesday. You need a day of rest. Now, the day of rest happened to become on the Sabbath on Saturday. It doesn’t matter whether it’s Sunday or Saturday or Monday or Tuesday. It was merely that you need a day of rest, and it’s not to make yourself holy, and it’s not to be obedient to God. It’s to for your own preservation and your own good. Jesus said, was the Sabbath made for you, or were you made for the Sabbath? He tried to tell people back then, you’re sniffing my finger. I’m pointing to something. We didn’t listen. We didn’t listen, and so man still is not listening.

We are still in the process of trying to make these things something that I can do, that deep down in my heart I hope you’re not doing so that I can look down on you and say, look what I’m doing. Am I right or wrong? And that’s the law. So what did the Hebrews do with the law? They took it and made it an act of righteousness instead of obedience, for our own good. He came in and said, No, no, no. Paul said, I got some good news, folks. I want to tell you something. I’m not ashamed of it. And Paul would be a person saying, as far as legalistic obedience is concerned, I was without equal, without equal. There was no one that was as obedient, obedient to the law as me the apostle Paul, and he said, I consider all of that stuff dung compared to that of knowing Jesus, and I am so happy that I’m not ashamed of this gospel that has annihilated all of this self righteousness. And I’m here to tell you about a righteousness from God. There’s that word, hang on to it, a righteousness from God. Now, folks, a righteousness from God means that I’m going to put you into a position of righteousness, and I’m going to do it, you’re not going to have anything to do with it. If I name you an ambassador, you’re an ambassador. You didn’t have anything to do with it. I elected you to be an ambassador. And that’s what he is saying here, is that this righteousness that you possess is a gift from God, you had nothing to do with it except to come and receive it. That’s all you could do with a gift of righteousness, receive it, or what? Reject it. When you receive it, you possess righteousness. You possess it. It is because of God that you are in Christ, Jesus, who has become for us, what? Our righteousness. He is your righteousness. Why I was told I don’t have any and that’s why folks that when I came to Christ, first of all, I had to accept the fact that at the Cross I was cleansed of all that I was, unrighteous. I had to be cleansed of all of that unrighteousness in order to be filled by Him and His righteousness. But I don’t stand in mine. I don’t have any do you? How many of you have ever sat there thinking how righteous we are?

Now I’ll tell you when I was involved in the obsession with confession for forgiveness, I thought I was righteous that I had short accounts with God. Faith.

Now, folks, what I have given you here is the key to the book of Romans. This is what every passage to be interpreted in the book of Romans must flow through. This is the funnel. This is the key. This is the reason he wrote the book. Is to say that we have a gospel that I don’t care whether you’re representing it to all of the pompous people in Rome or to the most depraved and the most poor people someplace else. It’s universal in scope. It’s true all over the world. And if it isn’t true one place, it’s not gospel.

That’s why I’ve said before, with this prosperity garbage that is being perpetuated around the country, you go into New Guinea, into one of those remote areas and preach a prosperity gospel, just name it and claim it boys. The Bible says anyone teaching that godliness is a means to God or that to financial gain is a man of a perverted mind. So people, if you’ve listened to people like that in the past, you’ve been listening to a person with perverted mind, and if you’ve been listening to a person with a perverted mind, you’re capable of listening to another one, so be careful who you listen to, including me. I could be lying to you. Do you know how you’re going to know whether I’m lying to you or not? How many of you are born again in this room? How many of you have the Spirit of God living in you? What has the Spirit of God promised you? To teach you the meaning of the word of God? How do you know whether I’m telling you the truth or not? Get into this book and read it and ask God to reveal the meaning of it to you, and if we agree with each other, you’re smart.

That’s how you know. Folks now, is that a miracle of God? Is that a power of God? That God can take the Scripture and you can go over. We get calls from people in Australia, New Guinea, Europe, all over the world now the internet’s in effect, coming down, coming back, reading our books and saying, you know, this is something that I’ve known down my heart forever. Same time I really Chinese. It doesn’t make any difference whether you speak this language or that language, or whatever language. It doesn’t make any difference. You go over to Russia, talk to people who are in Christ and who’ve studied the word, they say, yeah, that’s yeah. That’s what I believe. That’s really great. So if you have the Spirit of God living in you, you have the ability to comprehend the meaning of the word of God and to take it in context. And guys, again, I emphasize this fact of us being sober minded, God doesn’t want us to be silly. You know, he had this one guy was going around with this laughing stuff, where everybody was walking around laughing and giggling all over the place. Can you imagine Jesus and the guy’s just sitting around giggling, just giggling. All, I mean, come on, is this what Christianity is when you got people with their guts hanging out and people divorced and kids with problems and drugs and alcohol to sit around giggling, laughing, giggling, and say, Oh, it’s a joy of the Lord. No, it isn’t. It’s stupidity, but we have it, don’t we?

Do you find that in the Bible, no find anyone getting slain in the Spirit. In the Bible, did the Spirit come to slay people or to give life to people? I mean, can you imagine Holy Spirit come upon me and knock me over? Go see Mike Tyson. He’ll do the same thing for you.

That kind of stuff is nonsensical, my friends and yet people follow that by the 1000s. By the 1000s. How do I know that’s not true? It’s not in the Bible. How do I know that in this dispensation we live in, that tithing is not the form of giving? How do I know that? It’s not in the new covenant. That’s I know that. I don’t know that because of tradition. I know it because it’s not in the Bible. In the Old Covenant, it was the way and means of supporting the Levitical priesthood. Are any of you out there, do any of you have your priest called Levits? Hopefully you don’t. And it says if there’s been a change of the priesthood, there must also be a change of the law. That’s why you don’t see tithing mentioned in the New Covenant. What do you see in the new covenant? Free Will giving, two chapters Paul devoted to it. If tithing was the form of giving, why would Paul devote two chapters to tell them, telling you how to give? He should have just wrote tithe. Don’t rob God tithe.

How do I know that’s not true? It’s not in the Bible. It’s not in the Bible. And so folks, what I’m getting at is you and I are privileged, above all people, to, number one, be possessed, to be able to be indwelt by the Spirit of God, and then to have the Spirit that’s not just something to talk about, the spirit that’s active in your life, teaching your head, controlling your mind, controlling your emotions, directing your will, teaching you truth that does what? Sets you free from all of the garbage and the error that religion wants to put on You, that people, deceivers, want to put on you, and it frees you from having to give in to that error. That’s walking free, isn’t it, folks, isn’t that what you want to be free? If truth sets you free, what is it that binds you? Error. You got people to say, Oh, I’m in bonding. I know I had a mother. I was body drained too early. I was born this way. Yeah, you were born that way. You were born sinful. I’ll go along with that. And to a degree, it’s not your father that you’re dealing with but it goes back a few generations to Adam. That’s where it all started. And you’re and you have sin living in you, and if you have sin living in you, Paul says, it’s no longer I who do it, but it’s sin living in me. Then you got problems, but the only solution to sin is who? Jesus.

And so folks, this is such a the power of God for salvation. It’s such a marvelous thing that God has done for you and me. He has given us His Spirit, and that Spirit has promised to be our teacher. He’s called our counselor. No $100 an hour. He’s our counselor. No prescriptions of Prozac. He’s our counselor. Why? What did he say? You need truth. If you’re messed up, it’s because your head’s full of what? Error. How do you correct error with a pill? You correct error with truth. And what does that truth do to the error? What’s it do? Pushes it out. People sit around talking about casting out demons. You know how you cast out a demon? You get the right man in, the wrong man goes out. When you get Jesus in, the other goes, if there’s such a thing as demon possession.

So folks, we are privileged above all people of the world, aren’t we? We live on this earth in this body, indwelt by God, that doesn’t make you God. You’re a man indwelt by God, and God is your teacher who will teach you truth, and he says that truth will set us free.

Now, folks, there’s only two things, three things, really, that you can do with this message. Paul says, I’m not ashamed of this gospel. It’s the power of God for salvation. If you’re not saved, there’s only two things, three things you can do with it. One is reject it. And we’re going to talk about those who reject the message next week. Reject it, not consider it worthy to hang on to the knowledge of God. Or you can say, Well, I’m not quite ready for this yet, but maybe next week I will. How you know you’re going to be here next week? Bob Davis had me dead last week. How you going to know? And the others accept it. How do you accept something? The way you accept anything, any gift, you reach out and you take it and you say, thank you. You say, Lord, can I pay you for this? No, no, it’s free. Can I earn it? No, no, no, no man will ever be good enough to earn my righteousness. It’s a gift. I’m not ashamed of it. It went first to the Hebrew. Now it’s going to you a Gentile. It’s a gospel of righteousness. It’s a gospel that says, I will make you what you cannot make yourself. And the only issue is, do I want to sit in my stubbornness and refuse love. Refuse love. That’s a thing we want more than anything in the world. And Jesus is saying, I’m here to give it to you. I’m here to give you love, unconditional love. I’m here to give you life, my life. What do you want to do with it, accept it or reject it. Let’s pray together.

Father, not knowing where our own individual hearts are but knowing full well from experience that when you are lost, you’re searching, nothing ever seems to fit. You’re always wondering why the things you want to do you don’t do, and the things you don’t want to do, you do them anyway. You’re wondering why that people seem to have a peace about them that you don’t possess. You wonder, what am I doing here? Where am I going? Why am I here? What’s going to happen to me when I die? And Jesus has the answer to every one of those questions. And if there be one here today who does not truly know you, oh, we’ve had an intellectual assent toward you, but I mean, really know you, and we really want to know you, will you just by faith, accept this gift of righteousness, thank Him for the cross where He took away the cause of spiritual death, and thank him for that, and then thank him for this marvelous offer of bringing spiritual life to our dead spirit and raising us from the dead into eternal life with you and to merely by faith, accept that. Thank you, Lord Jesus. And when that occurs, and if it already has, we know, by the testimony of God that He who has the Son has life now. When you don’t have the Son, you don’t have life. But these things I’ve written unto You who believe in the name of the Son of God, in order that you may know that you have eternal life. I thank you for these things Jesus in your holy name. Amen.
