Classic Christianity – Book of Romans P30 (12-11-24)
Therefore, There is Now NO Condemnation for Those Who ARE IN Christ Jesus.
~ “Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For in Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set you free from the law of sin and death. For what the law was powerless to do in that it was weakened by the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful man, as an offering for sin. He thus condemned sin in the flesh, so that the righteous standard of the law might be fulfilled in us, who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.” Romans 8:1-4
Now we are coming to the point in the book of Romans and Paul is teaching us as to who we are IN Christ Jesus, if a person is indeed IN Christ Jesus. And that is a very important distinction to know and understand. NOT everyone is in Christ Jesus. Sure they may say they know Jesus, but do they really know the True Jesus of the word of God? Or did they place faith in a fake Jesus, one of their own imagination, and what their religion told them was Jesus? For there are many who believe in the physical man Jesus, but have NOT come to faith in believing that He is God in the flesh, who took away the sins of the world. Because if they had placed faith in the True Jesus, they would be thanking Him for His forgiveness, instead of repeatedly asking for what He said was FINISHED at the cross. And folks, that is a prime indicator of Faith right there. Faith is a proper responder to TRUTH. And when a person knows the TRUTH, they fall down and thank Him for NO longer counting their sins against them. That is the foundation of Jesus Christ. And if a person doesn’t have the correct foundation, it’s highly doubtful that a person is even saved. Because the Holy Spirit will be testifying to a person’s spirit of the TRUTH of the matter. And so that does away with all the lies of the confession booth and confession to a priest, all the lies of saying 1 John 1:9s for “getting sins forgiven,” all the lies of keeping short accounts with God, all the lies of being in and out of fellowship with God, and a person finally comes to the end of themselves and agrees with God, and thanks God for what He has done for them personally. And if a person isn’t telling others about this Truth, then you have to ask yourself if they really have placed faith in TRUTH to begin with. Because when a person places faith in the Faithful One of God, they want to shout it from the rooftop, “God was in Christ Jesus, reconciling the world to Himself, and He is No longer counting your sins against you!” They will be thanking God for His Life living in them.
For IN Him, is our peace and know that there is NO Condemnation awaiting those who are His true children of God. “I have told you these things so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take courage; I have overcome the world!” John 16:33 Do you believe that? If you do, then you will have the peace of God that passes all understanding living in you. If not, you will be living in fear.
Luke 18:18,19
18 And a certain ruler asked Him, saying, “Good Teacher, having done what, will I inherit eternal life?”
19 And Jesus said to him, “Why do you call Me good? No one is good, except God alone.
~ “Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.” 1 John 5:12
~ Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life; the one believing in Me, even if he should die, he will live. And everyone living and believing in Me shall never die, to the age. Do you believe this?” John 11:25,26
—
~ Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For in Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set you free from the law of sin and death. For what the law was powerless to do in that it was weakened by the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful man, as an offering for sin. He thus condemned sin in the flesh, so that the righteous standard of the law might be fulfilled in us, who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. Those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh; but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit. The mind of the flesh is death, but the mind of the Spirit is life and peace, because the mind of the flesh is hostile to God: It does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so. Those controlled by the flesh cannot please God. You, however, are controlled not by the flesh, but by the Spirit, if the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ. But if Christ is in you, your body is dead because of sin, yet your spirit is alive because of righteousness. And if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit, who lives in you. Romans 8:1-11
Pray to God:
Do you really want to know the WHOLE Truth of what is going on today?
“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened to you.” Matthew 7:7
Lord Jesus, teach me the truth of the world today and give me the wisdom to know the truth and identify the lies of the devil. Thank you God.”
~ “This thing of Law and Grace was a huge subject. It was something that had to be taught by the apostle Paul, he was threatened with his own life, ultimately died because of this teaching, as well as the other apostles. The subject today of Law and Grace is as stringent as it was back in those days. And when you tell people today that you are no longer under the law, the first thing that comes into your mind, well, are you saying that we should just go on sinning so that grace may increase? Now, we may not use those words, but those are the questions that are asked. Well, if we’re no longer under the law, under grace, so you just go out and kill people. That’s what they always say, kill people, because not too many have done that, except if we know what Jesus said, that if you’re angry with your brother, it’s the same thing as murder. Now, now we’re all guilty, but we don’t pay attention to what Jesus said on that anymore. That we pay attention to the fact that if you look at a woman with lust in your heart, it’s the same thing as committing adultery with them. We don’t pay attention to that either. But the issue is, it was said, was it not by the Lord? And so you have people that their initial response to when you understand grace is, well, what you’re saying to me is that you just can go live however you want to live. And so he has to address those questions in which he did in chapters six and seven, to address the question, shall we just go on sinning so that grace may increase, so that God will look better? So. And then, then in verse 15, chapter six, shall we sin? Because we’re not under the law, but under grace. And then we have another one down. What shall we say? Then is the law sin? Are you just saying that the law is sin? So you have all of those questions that Paul obviously felt needed to be answered before moving on from what he had talked about in chapter five, in regard to the fact that the law was added so that the trespass might increase, so that you would be able to identify yourself as what you are, and that is a sinner, and turn to Christ for salvation. So the purpose of the law. And again, when God gives us something, he has a purpose for giving it to us, and the purpose of the law was to show us our sinfulness so that we would turn to Christ for salvation.” ~ Bob George

We are going to pick up now back into the book of Romans, and if we’ll just turn that to Romans eight. As a matter of review, in this book of Romans, I have mentioned before that what you actually have here is at the end of chapter five, you have a parentheses in chapters six and seven in order to answer questions that people are obviously going to ask when at the end of chapter five, it reads, the law was added so that the trespass might increase. But where sin increased, Grace increased all the more, so that just as Sin reigned in death, so also grace might reign through righteousness to bring eternal life through Jesus Christ, our Lord.
Whenever you hear these type of things that Paul was teaching, which was foreign to the ears of a legalistic Hebrew and certainly foreign to the ears of legalistic Gentiles today, that’s just the same as it was back then. Back in those days, you would have had the Hebrew legalistic, trying to follow God, trying to live up according to the law, and then you had the Gentile that could care less, and you had very little in between. The only voice on the face of the earth at that time for the Triune God, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob was the Hebrew, and the rest of the world was just kind of playing around, or with no interest at all in anything. Today is different. Today we have religious people, and that’s why you have religious sections in the newspapers that are if you need some comic relief, that’s a good page to read. But the issue is that you have all kinds of religionists today, and you’ve got your Catholics, and you’ve got your Protestants, and you’ve got your Muslims. You just got everybody who is religious today. So there isn’t anything unusual about being religious. You also have people from all denominations that, as I’ve said before, have gone over and stolen the law from the Hebrew, because God never gave the law to the Gentile. The law was given to the Hebrew. Went over and fell well, you Hebrews didn’t do too good a job with it, so you just watch my smoke, and we’re out trying to live under the law ourselves as Gentiles. And so you’ve got a lot of confusion that is taking place in the Christian world today. And then on top of that, as we talked about last week, you have an agenda of the world that is trying to destroy all of Christianity, and take prayer and take any thought of Jesus or anything else out of society altogether. So you’ve got a very confusing world that we’re living in today.
This thing of Law and Grace was a huge subject. And again, when God gives us something, he has a purpose for giving it to us, and the purpose of the law was to show us our sinfulness so that we would turn to Christ for salvation.
Now, again, we have this terrific confusion that has taken place in a Christian world, and even by people and we’ve had recently, this has been brought to our attention. People that I felt were somewhat familiar with the message that we teach in this ministry, and we have people who grab a hold of the grace of God. Just love it. They don’t see what you’ve been freed from, the law and the demands of the law, and then believe, or else have forgotten, I do not know which that is, but believe in some way, shape or form, that you’re saved by the cross, by the death of Christ. And therefore we have people today that are out teaching that because of the cross of Jesus Christ, where God was in Christ, reconciling the whole world unto himself and not counting their sins against them, that the whole world is saved, and the whole world will be saved, and no one will be lost. And that’s being taught by people who, at one time or another have come to our seminars, have been taught about the grace of God, and then go off in this kind of total nonsense. Now, what is the root of that? Well, it’s the same root that you run into in hyper Calvinism, who then believed that because God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto Himself, not counting their sins against us and the whole world sins have been saved, and they believe that salvation. So they say that cannot be because that would be universal salvation. And we know that there is no universal salvation. We know that some people are going to be saved and some aren’t going to be saved. So how are we going to buy that? And so they say, well, then he must have just died for the elect. And that’s where you get the five point Calvinism and the hyper Calvinism being taught that God’s predestination was that he chose you for salvation, but he didn’t choose you, so he doomed some people to eternal death and others to eternal life. And they believe that, that there’s the kind of God that you have that just chose, I don’t like you, Paul, so you’re a goner, and I don’t care what you do. I don’t care how good you are, anything else. You’re a goner. I’ve chosen you for that for that destination, for that destiny. And they believe that. Well, where is the root problem of all that? Well, the root problem is believing that salvation is getting your sins forgiven. And there’s where the problem goes, and that’s where folks we must study the Scriptures, finding ourselves approved unto God by studying the scriptures in its total context, not nit picking verses out of the Scripture and playing spiritual hop scotch through the Scripture.
When people call in, can you give me a verse on down and say no, read the book. I’m not going to give you the verse. Read the book. Quit looking for verses to hopscotch through The Bible with read the chapter, read the book, and you’ll get the answer to your question. And that’s the problem with these scripture memory verses. Nothing wrong with that. It’s great for memorizing Scripture, if you’re memorizing it in context. If you don’t memorize it in context, then what it means is left up to you, and you don’t have a clue what it means, I’ll just let it mean what I want it to mean. And there are a lot of people who teach that kind of theology, that whatever it means to you is okay. Well, God has a meaning for everything that he’s done. And when he wrote the word, he not only wrote what it said, but he knew what it meant, and he wants us to know what it means. The only problem is that the only ones that will know what it means are those who are relying upon the Spirit of God to reveal what it means. Because the Bible tells us that no eye has seen, nor ear has heard, nor mind is conceived of those things that God has prepared for those who love him, but it must be revealed by the Spirit. It’s not revealed by an understanding Greek or Hebrew. It’s not revealed by getting a seminary degree or a cemetery degree, whichever one you want to go with. It is revealed by the Spirit, and that’s why the most uneducated person in the world who is reliant on the Spirit of God can understand what wise men absolutely never understand is because it takes the Spirit to reveal it to you.
Now. So we’re dealing with this problem of salvation. In Romans, it tells us that while we were yet enemies, that means lost, we were reconciled to God through the death of his Son. There’s not a man that has been, or ever will be born into this world whose sins were not reconciled to God at the cross, universal, all men’s sins have been taken away at the cross. Is that salvation? No, and it goes ahead to say so. How much more that being an accomplished fact, shall we be saved by his what? His life. And that is why the Apostle Paul is able to say, without the resurrection, we’re to be pitied of all people and are still in our sins, knowing full well that a cross occurred, but that cross is meaningless apart from the resurrection. But the Cross did was clear the deck for the divine action of now bringing life to the dead, and we’re streaming people down aisles by the 1000s in our evangelistic work to come forward to get their sins forgiven, which is a lie, because your sins are already forgiven. You come forward. If you’re going to come forward to get life, you come forward to get Jesus, not what he did for you, but to get him and in him, it says you have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. Where is the forgiveness that was provided for the whole world, received? In Him and in His resurrected life. And that’s why the key of the Christian life is resurrection, resurrection and resurrection. That’s why they got crucified, resurrection from the dead. And when you teach resurrection, you’re teaching a subject that many times people know about historically, but we do not have a clue as to what it means. And folks what it means is that that life that raised Him from the dead is the life that raises you from the dead, because you’re born dead as a hammer, and the only thing a dead man needs is life, and until you have life, you remain dead. The issue of salvation is not how bad you are, the issue is how dead you are. And we’re going around with our bony fingers putting people on guilt trip telling them, that if you keep on in this sin, as we say in Texas, seeing you’re going to go to hell. So we go to hell because of sin. And I want to tell you something, folks, that is a lie. No man will ever go to hell because of his sins. Those sins have been placed at the cross 2000 years ago. You’re going to go to hell because of the refusal of coming to the Man who did that for you, and coming to the one who was raised from the dead to give life to you and me, so we stumble down the aisles to get forgiveness and go back to pews as dead as we came to the altar. And I say that’s why they call them pews, because there’s so many dead people sitting in them.

Bob George 13:22
People come down and say, well, can’t you have life? I don’t know. What I do know is that the Bible tells me that I’m saved by His life. Well, can’t you just say, Jesus, thanks for dying for my sins, or can’t you say, please forgive me my sin to get I don’t know. What I do know is the Bible says You’re saved by His life. And I do know that a half gospel doesn’t save anybody. I think Jesus loves us too much to give us a half gospel. I think it’s the fullness of the gospel that brings people into a full relationship with Christ Jesus, you come to him for him. Come unto what? My forgiveness? No Come unto me, all of you who labor and are heavy laden, I’ll give you rest and peace for your soul. That’s the call of God. Come unto me. To as many as received His forgiveness, to as many as received who? Him. He gave the right to what? Become a child of God. And so it’s so vitally important that we understand these things, and that’s why Paul stressed in Romans six and seven, answering all of these questions that come into people’s minds when they hear it’s been done. It’s been accomplished. Come to Him by faith. So what we’re going to do is to pick up today, and I’m going to read again that last verse in chapter five, and then go right over to chapter eight, because literally, that is the continuation of thought here.
The law was added so that the trespass might increase. But where sin increased, Grace increased all the more, so that just as Sin reigned in death, how did it reign? Because the wage. Of sin is death, so also grace might reign through righteousness to bring eternal life, through Jesus, Christ, our Lord. So therefore, now what’s the therefore there for? Because of what he just got through saying, therefore there is now, now no condemnation awaiting those who are in Christ Jesus, or for those who are in Christ Jesus. Do you believe that? How much condemnation is there left for you and me from God? None you mean ain’t going to get you. Is he or not? Is he going to get you? Is he going to put you in the woodshed? What did he say? There is no condemnation for those who are in Christ, Jesus, there is nothing left that God is going to condemn you for. Well, what if you keep sinning after you’re saved? There’s no condemnation awaiting those who belong to Christ Jesus. Well, what if I keep repeating it? What if I do it twice? There’s no condemnation awaiting those who belong to Christ Jesus. Do you believe that? How many of you have ever said to God, Oh, God I did it again. You know what God said? Did what again? Did what again? I don’t know what you’re talking about. I took that away at the cross. Do we believe that? Now are we that way with each other? No, we got good record books. Yeah, we got an accounting, accounting list. We keep records. What does he say about love? Love doesn’t keep records of wrongs, and we walk around thinking we’re doing so well in our Christian experience, and we’re violating everything that it says in the love chapter is what the only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love. And we think we’re doing good.
Well, the issue is, folks, I don’t think any of us are doing good. Now you’ll notice I didn’t say, I didn’t think you’re doing good. I said, all of us, I don’t think any of us are doing that good. I think we’re all in the process of learning what it is to know Jesus. I was telling some people the other day, if you had talked to me 10 years ago, my knowledge of the scripture was way out here today. It’s down here, and you know what it’s doing. It’s getting narrower and focusing more and more just on Jesus. Out here you got all this theology, and you got everything else, and it just keeps coming down to nothingness when you’re left with Jesus and Jesus alone, and when you and I leave this body and going to the presence of God, we’re not going into theology. We’re going into the presence of Jesus. Now we need the theology in order to get to know who that Jesus is, that we’re going into His presence and who it is that lives in us today. But in the final analysis, like Paul said, The only thing that matters is what? Faith expressing itself through love. Do you believe that? Well, then all this other stuff, if that’s true, is just superfluous, isn’t it? If that’s true, then how important is the rest of the stuff that we get so hung up on? The only thing that matters is faith that expresses itself through love for one another, for him and for one another. How are we doing in the love department?
And so there’s where, if we’re going to sit around and compare ourselves, which the Bible says, if you compare yourself by yourself, you’re a fool, because comparing myself by you, there’s only two things can happen. One, I think I’m better than you are. That’s pride. The other, I think I’m worse than you are, and that’s self condemnation, and both of those are out of the pit of hell. So I’m not there to compare now, neither are you. But the issue is, he’s teaching us that the only thing that matters is faith expressing itself through love. The whole goal of this Bible is to ultimately bring you down to that logical conclusion that the only thing that matters is faith expressing itself through love. And if that isn’t evident, you don’t have anything. Now we put emphasis on babbling in tongues. He says, if you could speak in the language of men and angels, don’t have love, you’re nothing but a noisy gong and a clanging cymbal. People say that’s a sign you’re spirit filled. Can you imagine calling yourself a spirit filled noisy gong? And we get hung up on heeling, and then we get hung up on this, and we get hung up on church attendance. We get hung up on everything except what the Bible says that the only thing that matters is faith expressing itself through love. That’s all that matters faith expressing itself through love, and that the world will know, that you are my disciples by your tithing record. The world will know you’re my disciples by your loved one toward another, and if you don’t have it, they’re not going to know you’re my disciples. Pretty clear, isn’t it?
So there’s no condemnation for those who are in Christ, Jesus. Now, what should that do for us? Folks in our own experience? What should that do for us? Well, first of all, if I’m going to walk by faith in that truth, then I’m going to be thanking God when I blow it, that there’s no condemnation awaiting me, aren’t I? That’s one of my prayers. It’s going to have to be Lord, thank you for what you did for me at the cross, and thank you that there’s no condemnation for me for what I just did. Is that right or wrong? If you’re going to walk by faith, that’s what we’re going to have to do. Now again, we get pretty well hung up on the Dirty Dozen, the nasty nine and the terrible 12. And we forget about these attitudes of the heart, don’t we? We forget about how unloving we can be sometimes. And I want to tell you the thing that gets to me more than anything else, or sometimes the unloving attitudes that comes out of me, because sometimes I have them, and when I have them, it hurts inside. The flesh, it feels good the flesh. Have you ever noticed how good it feels the flesh when you’ve just ripped somebody off and just told them what you really thought about them, the ole flesh feels good. But again, that’s not love, and those are the things that disturb you the most, are these attitudes that you find yourself exemplifying as you go through life. So the only thing that you can do if you’re going to walk by faith is to be able to say, Lord Jesus, thank you for what you did for me at the cross. I’m not going to ask him for forgiveness unless I want to hang him on a cross again. Is that right or wrong? Because without the shedding of blood, there is no forgiveness, and he’s not coming back to shed his blood. And he didn’t shed it now. He did it once. He did it for all. He did it forever. So again, if I’m going to walk by faith, I don’t have to, but if I’m going to walk by faith, then I’m going to have to walk by faith in what is true from God’s vantage point, what’s not what’s true from what the Church teaches me or not, what’s true from what makes me feel good, but what is true from God’s vantage points, what is true is my sins have been placed on the cross and taken away. That’s what truth is. So therefore, when you sin, there’s where your mindset goes to Lord, thank you. Thank you for taking away my sin at the cross. Thank you for that. Thank you that you don’t see that and I thank you that there’s no condemnation awaiting me, who belongs to you. Thank you for that. That’s a prayer based upon truth, truth from what, from what we think, or truth from what God did? Truth from what God did. So again, that’s walking by faith. The only thing that counts is what? Faith expressing itself through what? Love. How much more could you be exercising faith expressing yourself through love, than to show your love for God for what he did for you 2000 years ago at a cross? And so there’s now no condemnation.
Now, why isn’t there any condemnation? Because through Christ, Jesus the law of the Spirit of Life, set me free from the law of sin and death. You and I were born into this world under the law of sin and death. Were we not? The wages of sin is a paddling? Is that what it said? Well, what is the wages of sin? Death. How many of us have sinned? All of us. How many are under the death penalty? All of us born under the death penalty. We had no choice. Adam sinned volitionally. We are born in Adam as dead as he became. So you’re born into this world with no choice. You didn’t choose life, you didn’t choose death. You were just born dead spiritually. Now again, I want us to get into our minds what spiritual death is. Who are you dead to when you’re born into the world? You’re dead to God. God left Adam. You and I are born without God living in us, just like a light bulb up there would be put in there with no electricity in it. Had no choice. It’s a light bulb. It’s finally made. It’s wonderfully made, but it’s plugged in, but there’s no electricity in there, though it can’t function. So it has to go out and function some way in its own do something else besides be a bearer of light. And we’re the same way. We’re born into this world, dead to God, but very much alive to the world. Your human spirit that separates you from the animal kingdom, because if your human spirit was dead, dead, you’d be an animal. An animal has a soul. Is that right or wrong? A soul is a mind, emotion and will? Does a dog have a mind? Debatable. Does he have a will? Yes, sir. Does he have emotion? Absolutely, you can tell by how he wags his tail. But does he have a human spirit? Does a dog sit around and be able to plan his day? I don’t think so. I think he just sees a car go by and decides that they’ll try to eat it, goes out and chases it. It’s not planning his day, does a dog contemplate God? Not that we know about. So the human aspect of man is what separates us from the animal kingdom. So a man, although he’s dead to what vacated him, and that’s the Spirit of God living in him, he is still aware of his emptiness, and that’s why there truly is a God shaped vacuum in the heart of every man that can only be filled by God through his Son, Jesus Christ. That’s why the world is incurably religious. That’s why you can go into the most remote areas of the world and people are seeking to know God. Why? Because they’re empty. And what are they empty of? What they’re supposed to be filled with. And what’s that the Spirit of God living in you? Because God in the man is indispensable to the humanity of the man. You take God out of the man, and you got a man on your hands. But he cannot behave like one. He’s not an animal, so he can’t behave like an animal. He’s not a true man from God’s vantage point, so he can’t behave like a true man, so he behaves like an idiot, and that’s how we behave, apart from God.

Listen to the Salvation message today!
Stand on the firmness of truth. Don’t keep going back and forth. Thank Him that the forgiveness issue is settled.
Let’s pray together:
- Lord Jesus,
- I thank you for taking away my sins on the cross,
- never ever to see them again.
- Having done that, I now thank you for giving me eternal life,
- through your resurrection.
- I now receive that life.
- And I am going stand in the fact that I am a child of the living God.
- In Jesus Holy name I pray.
- Amen
All believers are now brothers and sisters in Christ.
John 3:3
