God Was in Christ Reconciling The World to Himself

~ Today, people many times blame God for things that are NOT God’s fault. It happens all over the place. People blame God for the weather. People blame God for death. People blame God for their business failure. People blame God for an accident. People blame God for going broke. People blame God for loosing a friend. It’s all based on a lack of faith. They give lip service to the very words of God, “that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation.” 2 Corinthians 5:19 God is not counting anyone’s sins against them today. Do you believe that? If you don’t believe it, then in the back of your mind you think that God must still be counting your sins against you too, which is a lie of Satan. So God doesn’t go around killing people today. If he did, how much sin would you have to do in order to merit a new death penalty? Was the cross not sufficient to take away all your sins and the sins of the whole world?

Today we have pastors and teachers that preach the lie of more forgiveness is required by God. And so, when they read a story in the bible, they attribute a death of someone as though God is doing it, because in the back of their mind the sin was too great a sin and God must of zapped a person for doing something very very bad. This is why a person needs to have a proper foundation in Christ Jesus and allow the Holy Spirit to teach you all truth. If a pastor is off in the foundation, then everything they teach will be skewed, and they will blame God for things that the scriptures do not say are God’s fault. Details matter in everything. Pay attention to the details in the word of God and allow the Holy Spirit to reason with your spirit. “Come let us reason together” says the Lord.

~ Now a man named Ananias, together with his wife Sapphira, also sold a piece of property. With his wife’s full knowledge he kept back part of the money for himself, but brought the rest and put it at the apostles’ feet.

Then Peter said, “Ananias, how is it that Satan has so filled your heart that you have lied to the Holy Spirit and have kept for yourself some of the money you received for the land? Didn’t it belong to you before it was sold? And after it was sold, wasn’t the money at your disposal? What made you think of doing such a thing? You have not lied just to human beings but to God.”

When Ananias heard this, he fell down and died. And great fear seized all who heard what had happened. Then some young men came forward, wrapped up his body, and carried him out and buried him.

About three hours later his wife came in, not knowing what had happened. Peter asked her, “Tell me, is this the price you and Ananias got for the land?”

“Yes,” she said, “that is the price.”

Peter said to her, “How could you conspire to test the Spirit of the Lord? Listen! The feet of the men who buried your husband are at the door, and they will carry you out also.”

At that moment she fell down at his feet and died. Then the young men came in and, finding her dead, carried her out and buried her beside her husband. Great fear seized the whole church and all who heard about these events. ^{Acts 5:1-11}

Bob George:
~ “Well, again, let’s go ahead and read it. So we know that in contact center main man a man named Ananias and his wife Sapphira also sold a piece of property. Now, the also is in regard to Barnabas, who is talked about in the book of Acts there, where he had sold different property or whatever it might be, and given it to the apostles. So it said that a man named Ananias and together his wife, Sapphira also sold a piece of property. And with his wife’s full knowledge, he kept back part of the money for himself, but brought the rest and put it at the apostles feet. And so again, we again, what we’re looking at here is I’m going to even back up into chapter four, where it talks about the fact that all the believers were of one heart in mind, and no one claimed that any of his possessions was his own, but they shared everything they had, with great power, the apostles continued to testify to the what? The resurrection of the Lord Jesus. And much grace was upon them all. There was no needy person among with among them. And from time to time, those who owned lands or houses, sold them, brought the money from the sales and put at the apostles feet. And it was distributed to anyone who had need. Joseph a Levite, from Cyprus, whom the apostles called Barnabas, which means son of encouragement, sold the field he owned, and brought the money and putting it at the apostles feet. So now we know the context what was taking place there. And incidentally, you certainly don’t see that taking place today. So once again, I say you can’t take the book of acts as a doctrinal book, it’s a historical book, if it was doctrinal, that’s what all of us should be doing, is selling everything we own and laying that the apostles feet and, and living like in a commune. Now a man named Ananias and Sapphira together with his wife, they sold a piece of property, and again brought it and put it at the apostles feet. Then Peter said, Ananias how is it that Satan is so filled your heart that you have lied to the Holy Spirit, and have kept for yourself some of the money that you receive for the land, didn’t it belonged to you before it was sold? And after it was sold wasn’t the money at your disposal? What made you think of doing such a thing? You have not lied to men but to God? So now, how did Peter know that? Well through the discernment that obviously God gave him Do you suppose that this was a shock to Ananias who brought his land and, and the proceeds of this land and laid at the feet of the apostles thinking is gonna get patted on the head? And everybody doing it on about how wonderful that was. And all of a sudden he’s being chastised by the apostle Peter and saying that you lied, not only to God to the Holy Spirit, but now or to men but you also lied to the Holy Spirit and to God that’s where you know the Holy Spirit is God. When Ananias heard this he fell down and die now doesn’t say it anyone’s happy. It doesn’t say that God’s happy but didn’t say the Peters happy He just said that his response to that exposure on the part of the apostle Peter was such that he died, I would have to say, had a heart attack. There was great fear and all who heard what happened. Then the young men came forward and wrapped up his body and carried him out and buried him. About three hours later, his wife came in not knowing what had happened. And Peter asked her, tell me, is this the price that you and Ananias got for the land? And she said, Yes, this is the price. And Peter said to her, how could you agree to test the Spirit of the Lord? Look, the feet of the man who buried your husband are at the door, and they’ll carry you out also. And at that moment, she fell down at his feet and died. And then the young man came in and finding her dead, carried her out and buried her beside her husband in great fear sees the whole church, and all are heard about these events. There is no mention at all as to how that happened. No mention at all, as who was responsible, no mentioned that God zapped them, no mention that Peter zapped them. It just says that they died in response to being revealed and being exposed to their sin. And so I believe that God allowed this to happen, Tom as as a testimony to the church, that this new church, this new body of Christ that has been formed is not something to be messing around with, and it didn’t seem to be playing games with. It isn’t something that God wants phoniness in of calling around saying that I sold this and given you everything I earned when you didn’t earn it. And I think that there was a human interest story there, in essence as to what God does not want in the church. But as far as it’s saying, a god zapped them. It just doesn’t say that.” ~ Bob George
