Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P791 (12-02-22)

Salvation is Life ~ When You Have the Son, You Have Life!

~ “And so when we come to Christ, we thank him for the fact that he took away eternally the cause of death, which is sin. And then therefore, having taken away the cause of death, which is sin, he was able to offer you and me a life called eternal life that can never be taken away from you. The reason that that life cannot depart from you and me, is because the only thing that could cause it to depart from you and me, would be sin. And the reason that’s an impossibility is because he took it away. They were so there anything that can cause his life to depart from you and me, that’s why we have what we call eternal security, who has the Son has life, and he does not have the Son of God does not have life. So when you come to Him for what He came to give you life, I didn’t have life. I was born dead, all of us were born dead. And he came, I came that you might have life, I have the resurrection and the life and whosoever believes in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live. And whosoever lives and believes in me will never die. And you’ve come to Him for that life. And thank you, Lord Jesus, for what you did at the cross to take away not only my sins from the eyes of God, let to take away the cause of spiritual death. And now you’re offering me your resurrected life. And I invite you into my heart as my Lord and Savior, and you’re saved. How, what kind of salvation Do you have? Eternal,”

We’re gonna go to Cincinnati, Ohio, listening on KCBX Dick, you’re on the air.

Caller 1 1:06
Bob, how you doing?

Bob George 1:07
I’m doing good, Dick, thank you,

Caller 1 1:09
I have not listened to you very long. I just kind of found this station in the past month or so. And I have some, I have been really rummaging around in my mind and heart with the whole idea of being born again. I was I was raised Roman Catholic. And I was a practicing Roman Catholic till about my mid 30s. I’m now in my late 50s, about 15 years ago, I guess was more than that. I ended up moving on to a nondenominational Christian church. And this whole idea of being born again, came in. And I thought, well, this is the way I want to do it, you know, I want, I want to ensure my salvation. So I thought I made a profession of faith to Christ. And now with what’s going on with listening to nothing but Christian radio, everybody seems to have a different take on it. I keep hearing teachers saying, you know, maybe 50% of the congregation sitting out there is not saved, even though they think they are. And, and I have a couple of brothers in Christ that I you know, meet with regularly. And they are the one says that, you know, we have to kind of recommit our lives to Christ every day. And tell him that we’re sorry for our sins and you know, and say, okay, you know, we’re going to pick ourselves up and start over again and try to live by your word. And I have another brother who says that, you know, unless you know what, the hour the day, the month, the year that you were saved, you’re not. So I’m confused, and quite frankly, I’m terrified.

Bob George 2:53
Well, first of all, fear doesn’t come from God. God doesn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of love and of sound mind. And so you can know that that fear that you’re going through does not come from God. If you stick to myself, you need to get yourself some new friends. But what you have there you’ve got a hodgepodge of opinions but not based upon scripture. Here’s here’s the issue Dick and it’s it’s a divine logic that you cannot argue with. Salvation is being saved from what In other words, I asked people many times what your understanding of the gospel, and nine times out of 10 Dick it comes back. Well, Christ died for my sins, and I accepted him was my savior. And I said, I’m sorry, that’s not salvation. The Salvation includes the death, the burial, and the resurrection of Christ Jesus, and all three of those have a purpose. The reason for the death of Christ is because of his testimony to us that all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God. There’s none righteous, no, not one. And therefore, everyone’s sins had to be forgiven. That’s what Jesus did at the cross, He took away the sins of the entire world, from the eyes of God, never to see them again. God was in Christ reconciling the world unto Himself, not counting their sins against them. He not only died for our sins, but the sins of the entire world. That’s all the way through the Scriptures, all of the sins of the world. Now in Catholicism, and the same thing has taken place in the Protestant world. We come back into prayer and the Catholics keep going back to the confession booth to get forgiveness. Well, is that faith? of course it isn’t faith. Faith is saying thank you for what Jesus has already accomplished. Have faith if Jesus said, I’ve taken away your sins never to see him again. Faith doesn’t say please forgive me. Faith says thank you. If that’s true,

Caller 1 5:10
Our dependence on the Lord is comes from reiterating that, thank you.

Bob George 5:17
Yeah, absolutely. It’s, that’s, that’s a, that’s a sign that you understand what what faith is all about faith and faith in itself that it’s faith in Jesus and what He accomplished. So I don’t ask God to do what he’s already done. God has already given me everything that I need were told for life and godliness. Well, what am I gonna do ask him for more? I’m gonna thank him for the fact that he’s given me everything that I need for life and godliness. Now, the second part of this is the important part Dick. It’s a part that is neglected, unbelievably, in Christian teaching, and that is that the wages of sin is death. It’s not a paddling. It’s not going to the woodshed. It’s not being in and out of fellowship there isn’t anyplace in the Bible, teaching in and out of fellowship, we teach it, but the Bible doesn’t. Its Death, The wages of sin is death. And until death is corrected, we remain dead. And forgiveness does not make a dead man alive. Resurrection makes a dead man alive. And that’s the meaning of Christ’s resurrection, he entered into our death with us. So that raise from the dead, we can enter into His resurrected life with him. And that’s what salvation is being saved from the consequence of sin which is death, by the gift of God, which is life. And so when we come to Christ, we thank him for the fact that he took away eternally the cause of death, which is sin. Eternal,

Caller 1 8:15
Eternal. Yeah,

Bob George 8:16
You don’t recommit your life. If you’re recommitting, you’re saying, I’m going to do something that kills me, and God says it will. Just keep committing and it will. So Dick, you see, this whole issue is agreeing with God with what he says about us as mankind, and agreeing with him in regard to his provision for our circumstance. We have to see ourselves as God sees us, and we did. That’s why you’re saved today, you saw yourself as a sinner. You accepted the fact that Jesus went to a cross, I don’t know whether you fully understood or not that he took away your sin, most of the time we’re taught he just covered sin. And that’s why you have to keep asking for forgiveness, which is really a denial of what Jesus cried out when he said, it’s finished. It’s really calling him a liar when he said, it’s finished. And so, but I agreing with that, and then also agree that there’s a consequence to sin called death and had to be corrected through His resurrection. And that’s when a person comes to understand that Dick we realize that hold on a minute, we’re in a different life altogether. It’s Christ living in me now. And it’s no longer I who live but it’s Christ who lives in me. And if Christ lives in me, what’s he lived there for? He lives there to live his life through me. In other words, it’s, it’s, it’s what he did at the cross for us. He died for us then so that he could live it is now and and we have to understand the truth of that, that he gave his life for you in order to give his life to you in order to live his life through you. And you and I can’t live the Christian life. Well, all we can do is to allow Him who lives in us to live it through us. And we do that by faith. You go out in the energy of your flesh trying to live the Christian life and you’re gonna fall flat on your face just like your guys who say that oh, you got to keep go repenting, and you got to keep greed dedicating your life, Why? Well you’re trying to live the Christian life and the energy of your flesh, and you’re going to be doing that all your life, you’re going to be falling on your face all your life. Because what are you preoccupied with? sin, that’s all you’re thinking about is because that’s your salvation is sin, instead of thinking about life, new life in Christ Jesus. So, if Christians will get the concept down, of being a branch, the greatest illustration Jesus ever gave us about the Christian life is I am the vine, and you are branch. And if you abide in me, and I in you, he it is that will bear much fruit and apart from me, you can do nothing, you cannot produce fruit, you can only bear the fruit that I produce in you. And you get the privilege of bearing it, but you cannot produce it. And if we’ll only grab a hold of that illustration to to realize what he’s saying to you. And to me, is Dick and Bob, you are nothing but a branch. And you cannot produce anything that I’m looking for nothing. There isn’t a thing and a branch that I’m looking for. If you will abide in me the life of the vine, I will produce in you and give you the privilege of bearing the fruit that is mine, not yours.

Caller 1 11:43
So when people see fruit coming from me, it’s the manifestation of the glory of God coming through me, because I’ve received God’s receive Jesus.

Bob George 11:56
No, no, it’s the fact that you’re abiding any. Because you and I received Jesus, that’s That’s a done deal, Derek, that’s not that’s something that cannot be taken away. If you’re in Christ, and you came to him for resurrected life, if you came to him just for forgiveness, you’re not even you might as well not even come there. Because that’s not salvation. You come to Him for what He came to give you. And that’s life, I came that you might have life. And I came to Him for His resurrected life, to save me from the consequence of sin, which is death, by the gift of God, which is life eternal. So that’s a done deal.

Caller 1 12:39
Now this life that I receive, I receive it now. And it goes through into eternity.

Bob George 12:45
Absolutely the day that you received, the day that you receive Christ Jesus, He who has the Son has life. And here does not have the SOn does not have live very cut and dried. Here, if you have the Son, you have eternal life. If you don’t, you don’t have it. And so were you came to Him by faith. If that is if that is true, and you came to Him by FAITH sounds like it is true. And you’re a true born again, believer, then you need to learn to abide in Him. Jesus Himself said, I don’t do anything less a Father tells me to do it. And I don’t say anything unless the Father tells me to say it and how to say it. Well, Jesus was God, as Archie Bunker said, he wasn’t too bad of a Christian. And so this is this is God talking. And he said, I’m going to teach you how to live. Because you can’t live as God, you have to live as man. So I’m going to behave as a man and teach you how to live. And he said, the way that you are to live is in total dependency upon the Father, realizing that you can’t do anything unless the Father leaves you to do. So relax, and let God lead you. And when when things like love, joy, peace, patience, kindness comes out of you, you know that you’re not the source of it, you got the privilege of bearing that fruit toward others, but you’re not the source of it. God’s a source of it. But that’s a choice we make as now a born again person. We can either it says participate in the divine nature that lives in us, that’s Jesus or we can participate in the flesh. And we got a choice. And so when you’re living with the life of Christ, living in you, who’s continually leading you to walk in the newness of life, and you’re yielding to him, you’re going to bear the fruit of God. When you yield to the flesh, you’re going to be bearing the fruit of the flesh and the Spirit is always there saying Dick did is that what it was cracked up to be? You believed a lie, and you get back into truth again and let him set you free. You thank him for the fact that he took away that sin from the eyes of God never to see it again. God in dealing with you on the bay He says of sin, he’s dealing with you on the basis of a new life. And that’s the freedom that we have in Christ Jesus. That’s that marvelous freedom, that he said, I bought you to set you free.

Caller 1 15:13
Thank you.

Bob George 15:15
It’s good news isn’t it Dick?

Caller 1 15:16
Yeah. Yeah. I’ve gone through a whole lot of turmoil over this whole thing, because it seems like every everybody I listened to is, you know, got a slightly different twist on it. It’s been like, well, where’s the real thing, you know, and the way you’ve explained it, you know, I, I was born dead, you know, that Christ died for me over 2000 years ago. And all I have to do is agree with the fact that what he did was for me, absolutely, and completed the work for you completed the work. And you know, so that the sin is gone, all I have to do is accept that and then go on to him and say, Okay, I want to live in your life, your your resurrected life, and start starting now going through all eternity with the life of Jesus abiding and me.

Bob George 16:09
I want to be a branch, I don’t want to be a producer anymore. I want to be the bear of your fruit and your fruit alone. It’s like a little child, Dick. When a little child is there and he falls down. You don’t sit there and chastise him and beat him to death. You pick him up and dust him off and put him on his way and tell him you love him and put him on his way. And that’s what, that’s how God’s dealing with you and may we fall, we make mistakes, and he’s always there picking us up showing us where the mistake was made. And moving on. He’s dealing with you as a loving father dealing with his child. Okay, so best news in the world.

Caller 1 16:47
Sure. Thank you so much.

Bob George 17:42
We’re gonna go to Atlanta, Georgia listing on WGUN Shannon, you’re on the air.

Caller 2 17:51
All right. Hi. thank you for taking my call.

Bob George 17:54
You’re welcome, Shannon.

Caller 2 17:55
I’ve heard on television and some is actually several different sources where they are in prophecy from like Isaiah and Ezekiel, they are not exactly on site, but Jeremiah and different places that they are interpreting those prophecies that I thought were concerning the nation of Israel. For the past that you had a previous dispensation of law, as well as the future dispensation and Millennial reign, interpreting that step to be for the church. Talking about a latter rain and the coming glory of the church is, is did I misunderstand something? Am I wrong to think that that is concerning the nation of Israel? Or is that applying to the church?

Bob George 18:49
Well Shannon some of the prophecies that you have in the Old Testament are certainly apply to in times, those were certainly amplified by the Lord Jesus Christ. Especially, you’ll find that in the 24 chapter of Matthew, where he talks about some of the signs of in times, but you have you you have prophecies that were given like in Daniel, that, that basically tie into the coming of the Messiah and the at the end of the age. So you do have prophecies that are applicable to this dispensation. But and then of course, you would have had prophecies that were given the Old Testament that were fulfilled during Old Testament time. So you have to make to basically take those prophecies in context. And in essence, try to figure out whether those have have been fulfilled or whether they will be fulfilled, as, let me give you an example that Shannon in the prophecies that Jesus talked about, about the end times, when he’s talking about that there would be destruction and If we have not seen, there are people today in Christianity today that believe that all of those prophecies have already been fulfilled and were fulfilled in 70 AD. I do not believe that at all. But some people do believe that. So, again, prophecies are always up for interpretation, and always are up for grabs. And you will find people dealing with prophecies that are all over the place. And so I I believe that when when you’re dealing with prophecies like in Revelation, I don’t believe anyone knows the the truth of those prophecies until such time that they’re fulfilled any more than people could have dogmatically explained the prophecies concerning the coming Messiah until Jesus came, I think, after he came, they said, Oh, that’s it. Even the apostles who knew the prophecies didn’t understand that Jesus was a fulfillment of those. So prophecy is always one of those things that a lot of people love to get involved in. And I guess it is kind of fun to get involved in it. But in essence, unless it has been fulfilled, I think the best that we can do is speculate as to the meaning of it and when it will occur.

Caller 2 21:11
Okay, would you say is there anyone, any scripture that you know, of as it refers to like a wealth transparence and that the, the Lord coming back for church without spot or wrinkle means that the church is going to be wealthy, which is basically in essence, what I what I heard, and I just No, no, say that at all. I do not believe that. That’s what Scripture Oh, not what I read.

Bob George 21:37
Well, Timothy tells you that today one who teaches that godliness as a means to financial gain is a man of perverted mind. So anyone teaching that kind of stuff, you already know what kind of a mind they have. It’s perverted. So but the issue is there are people who teach that the church has superseded Israel. That’s nonsense. The church is not Israel, Israel is not the church, Israel is Israel. See, if you want to go there, you can go there and watch them fight wars. And the church is the church. And it’s and the church is made up of both Hebrews and Gentiles who were born again. But there’s a lot of people that really, really mess around with prophecy. Shannon and that’s why you have to be careful with with your interpretation. But I think what you’re saying you’re you’re 100% Right on.

Caller 2 22:22
Okay, well, it didn’t sit right with me. And I just wanted to make sure see what you thought, I respect your ministry. And you’re one of the if not the only minister that I’ve ever heard preach about our teach that our sins are forgiven, and we no longer have to go to God for forgiveness of sin. And that was a confirmation of something that I had been setting. So it was so refreshing to find someone that taught that and, you know, it’s just rare to find that today.

Bob George 22:53
We don’t want to settle what God says finish do it. No, sir. That’s amazing that we just, you know, you get all kinds of be called everything under the sun for teaching that Jesus meant. What he said meant what he said when he said it’s finished. It’s just amazing. And the Book of Hebrews, that after he had provided purification for sins, it didn’t say it after he is providing he said after he provided he sat down when he sit down for? the works over and yet you teach that the meaning of it all everybody knows what it says but the meaning of it, everybody thinks you’re a heretic.

Caller 2 23:25
Well, you know, I’m learning that it’s okay to be alone. And in those times that you feel separated, I have felt lonely for quite some time. But you know, in a good deal my husband and I both have and but you know, that’s where you grow closer to the Lord, you know, when you have no one else to depend on that, but the Lord Himself and I think that’s the way he wanted us anyway.

Bob George 23:48
I’ll guarantee, that’s for sure, Shannon. Well, I appreciate your discernment on those things and you keep trusting the Lord for it.

Caller 2 23:55
Okay, thank you so much.

Bob George 23:56
You’re welcome, Shannon.

God bless you. Okay. Bye bye now. Let’s go to Temple Here Hills listening on WFAZ Curtis, you’re on the air.

Caller 3 24:07
Good afternoon, David, Bob and Bob Davis. I hope that you all have both had a God blessed weekend. A question I like to ask. Someone mentioned to me some time ago that they were ordained as a deacon This is a female but I’ve never heard of any female being a deacon. I’m not a biblical authority on physical things, but, but I had never heard of it. When I was growing. It’s always it’s been deacon, deaconess. But I never heard of any woman or a woman being a deacon. So I’m just gonna let you hear me on it on the radio relative to what your comment would be about that.

Bob George 24:44
Well, a deaconess would be the certainly would be the term for a woman serving in that capacity. Once again, Kurt is what you’re dealing with is our roles that people play in the church as an example, you had deacons and deaconesses and they were servants. They were people that would be involved in the, in the physical things, the serving of the Body of Christ and the cooking or you know, the fixing of the coffee and well, all those type of things and setting up of chairs, the different things, whatever needs to be done, you have people who just have a gift of helps. And I think quite frankly, that is the major gift that would be evident in in a deacon would be a gift of helps, they’re there to help. When you’re talking about elders, you’re talking about people who have gained a degree of maturity in regard to their understanding of the meaning of the word of God, and therefore the elders in the New Testament. And I believe, I don’t think you’re even today. That’s what it ought to be. We’re people that were used to go from assembly to assembly and from home to home where teachers were teaching the Word of God to ensure that what they were teaching was correct. And that was really the role of an elder was to make sure that the people were were passing on correct doctrine. And correct truth. I think the apostle Paul, even though he was an apostle, certainly served in that capacity when he would go on his missionary journeys and go back into the cities where he had started the church and to just be sure that their teaching was commensurate with what he had taught them. And even to the point of him saying that anyone who preaches a gospel different than the one that we preach to you, let them be forever accursed. So he was very, very, he wasn’t exactly what you would call politically correct and everything that he said and those things in those regards. He was he was very, very strong in regard to not varying from, the purity of the gospel, and that was basically the role of the elder the same way as the role of the deacon is to be a help more in the in in the local assemblies of the characters. And again, a woman can serve in that capacity as well as a man. I hope that helps Curtis, Thanks for your call.
