Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P991 (12-06-24)
Do Not Call To Mind The Former Things From Our Past
~ “Brothers, I do not consider myself to have taken hold of it. But one thing indeed: Forgetting the things behind and reaching forward to the things ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward calling of God in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 3:13,14
~ “Do not call to mind the former things; pay no attention to the things of old. Behold, I am about to do something new; even now it is coming. Do you not see it? Indeed, I will make a way in the wilderness and streams in the desert.” Isaiah 43:18,19
~ Forget about the former things of ourselves in the past. Do NOT dwell on the past circumstances, because you can’t change those things anyways, and it will just bring up feelings that God doesn’t want us dwelling on. God wants us to focus on Him and the Now, and be understanding of the calling He has set before us. To do His work of the ministry, to believe in Jesus and to share the Truth of the word of God with others.
A Different Topic for Today:
Some people question the quote that Jesus did from the cross, “My God, my God, why have You forsaken me?” as though that doesn’t make sense to them of how Jesus being God, could be talking to God the Father with those words being spoken. But once you realize that He said it for our benefit for us to look at the word of God and read where Jesus is actually quoting it from, then things start making sense. God was pointing us to read Psalm 22 which foretells crucifixion on a cross and what exactly that was happening around Jesus on the cross in the distant future from when that was written. So God said it for our benefit, so those reading it today would understand that Psalm 22 was prophetically pointing to Jesus himself. Details matter in everything. Don’t just stop with the quote itself, but do the research for yourself. Think about the implications of this. This was foretold in the past, about something that would happen in the future, and God is pointing it out to ALL of us. Those with ears to hear can hear and understand what was happening at those points in time. Listen in as Bob talks about this in greater detail.
The Psalm of the Cross ~ Psalm 22 (Matthew 27:32–56; Mark 15:21–41; Luke 23:26–43; John 19:16–30) For the choirmaster. To the tune of “The Doe of the Dawn.” A Psalm of David. 1 My God, my God, why have You forsaken me? Why are You so far from saving me, so far from my words of groaning? 2 I cry out by day, O my God, but You do not answer, and by night, but I have no rest. 3 Yet You are holy, enthroned on the praises of Israel. 4 In You our fathers trusted; they trusted and You delivered them. 5 They cried out to You and were set free; they trusted in You and were not disappointed. 6 But I am a worm and not a man, scorned by men and despised by the people. 7 All who see me mock me; they sneer and shake their heads: 8 “He trusts in the LORD, let the LORD deliver him; let the LORD rescue him, since He delights in him.” 9 Yet You brought me forth from the womb; You made me secure at my mother’s breast. 10 From birth I was cast upon You; from my mother’s womb You have been my God. 11 Be not far from me, for trouble is near and there is no one to help. 12 Many bulls surround me; strong bulls of Bashan encircle me. 13 They open their jaws against me like lions that roar and maul. 14 I am poured out like water, and all my bones are disjointed. My heart is like wax; it melts away within me. 15 My strength is dried up like a potsherd, and my tongue sticks to the roof of my mouth. You lay me in the dust of death. 16 For dogs surround me; a band of evil men encircles me; they have pierced my hands and feet. 17 I can count all my bones; they stare and gloat over me. 18 They divide my garments among them and cast lots for my clothing. 19 But You, O LORD, be not far off; O my Strength, come quickly to help me. 20 Deliver my soul from the sword, my precious life from the power of wild dogs. 21 Save me from the mouth of the lion; at the horns of the wild oxen You have answered me! 22 I will proclaim Your name to my brothers; I will praise You in the assembly. 23 You who fear the LORD, praise Him! All descendants of Jacob, honor Him! All offspring of Israel, revere Him! 24 For He has not despised or detested the torment of the afflicted. He has not hidden His face from him, but has attended to his cry for help. 25 My praise for You resounds in the great assembly; I will fulfill my vows before those who fear You. 26 The poor will eat and be satisfied; those who seek the LORD will praise Him. May your hearts live forever! 27 All the ends of the earth will remember and turn to the LORD. All the families of the nations will bow down before Him. 28 For dominion belongs to the LORD and He rules over the nations. 29 All the rich of the earth will feast and worship; all who go down to the dust will kneel before Him— even those unable to preserve their lives. 30 Posterity will serve Him; they will declare the Lord to a new generation. 31 They will come and proclaim His righteousness to a people yet unborn— all that He has done.
Consider having a Bible study yourself and teaching one or two others the Truth of the word of God. Those with ears, they will want to hear. We have many excellent Bible study books that are very easy to use that involve simply reading the word of God and answering the questions provided. The answers themselves are right there in the word of God.
Behold the Lamb of God Who Took Away the Sins of the World
Lord Jesus, teach me the TRUTH of the world we live in today and the Truth of You.
A caller asked about introspection.
~ “Why is she so concerned about where Jesus was 40 years ago, and she has no concern what Jesus wants for her to do right now that just, I mean, you just have to ask a question, why are you so concerned where Jesus was the first place? He probably wasn’t any place because you weren’t saved, so he wasn’t living in you, for sure. Well, a shoe. What do you want to go back when? But when the Bible says, Forget the past and press on the high calling of Christ, Jesus. So what do you want to go back into introspection, trying to figure yourself out? When Paul says he couldn’t even figure himself out, Paul said, I don’t understand myself. So how in the world does she think she’s going to so the issue, the issue is Rachel, is that she started, she decided to go believe Satan, and that’s why she’s wanting to go back, to get her head full of satanic things. Instead of doing coming back and doing what God wants her to do is to begin to form a good, solid Christian marriage. All of that memory stuff is absolutely satanic. I have people that I know, men that I know, who are in ministry, who got into that kind of garbage, and they go back and they go back, and pretty soon they’re into the womb. And for long they’re before you were born. But there now have this repressed memory where you can’t remember, but evidently your dad molested you, and have accused their fathers of molestation when their dads had no even an inkling of that type of thing, and are just and have destroyed families over that nonsense. If something happened to you, you remember it. If you don’t remember it, forget it. It hadn’t had any effect on you. And they go back to that kind of utter idiotic psychological nonsense, and believe that, instead of believing what the Bible has to say, and there again. It’s like I was talking to the gentleman. Our guide is the word of God, not some idiot psychiatrist who is feeding people full of garbage. And that’s all that kind of stuff is garbage that will leave a person devastated for the rest of their lives.” ~ Bob George

A caller asked about Jesus’ statement from the cross, “My God, My God, why have you forsaken me.
“The reason for the statement, “My God, My God, why has thou forsaken me,” was to take us back to the 22nd Psalm which starts out, My God, My God, why hast thou forsaken me? And describes in detail death by crucifixion, hundreds of years before there was such a thing as death by crucifixion. Crucifixion was brought in by the Roman by the Roman rule. And so that was written many, many years before Roman rule. And so it was basically a way in which God was able to say to mankind, this was not an accident. No one took my life. I laid it down volitionally, and I laid it down because of the condition of mankind, so that they could be saved. Had I saved myself, I couldn’t have saved the world. And so it was merely a way of bringing us back, taking us back to the prophecy that prophesied the Messiah would die by crucifixion, and started with the very identical words, “My God, My God, why hast thou forsaken me.”
Now, Jay, when we talk about the fact that God can’t look upon sin, then how in the world did he ever save sinners? Because if God was looking at us down here, why all he could see is sin, what the cross is what enables God not to look at sin. Because Christ, Jesus, death is what took away our sins from the eyes of God. But to say that God couldn’t look at sin is nonsense. He would never been able to save us if he couldn’t look at sin. Okay? And so the issue is, when you stop to think that that Christ, Jesus was what was dumped upon him was every dirty, lousy thought that you and I have ever had, and down through the sins of the entire world and and had to literally become sin so that we could become the righteousness of God. And in that condition, again, not only to point us back to the 22nd Psalm, but to experience a alienation, so to speak of his Father, just being so, having to be so preoccupied with the insurgence of sin that went upon him. I cannot imagine the suffering that Christ went through because of that truth.
Jay in my early Christian experience, I was teaching in a little Sunday school and on that subject one time, and I asked the kids, and I asked this little girl who was really questioning this, I said, let me ask you a question. I said, Do you have you seen people who were, let’s say, on death row that they knew they were going to die, or people that were told they were going to die from a disease that they have? Do you think that if you were told, if you were in prison, you were told that next week you were going to go to the electric chair. Do you think you would sweat as it were, great, drops of blood? And said, I don’t think so. I said, Well, I don’t think so either. Much lesser men than Jesus Christ have gone to their death knowing they were going to their death. That didn’t sweat as it were, great drops of blood. But I said, I want to ask you another question. What if I told you that next week or tomorrow, you were going to have to go out into a field and be molested by 1000 perverts and raped and molested and every dirty, lousy thing that a man could think of would be done to you. Do you think possibly you would sweat great drops of blood? And she said without question. And I said, That’s what Jesus had to go through. And so it was an unbelievable suffering on the part of God, who is totally pure in all ways, to have to take upon himself the sins of the world, it’s like we were talking about earlier, Jay, we can’t enter into that. There’s no way for us, in our humanity, to enter into what Jesus did. We kind of can apprehend, to a degree, but never really totally comprehend what all he went through in taking upon himself the sins of the world, it would have been horrific for him.” ~ Bob George
