Classic Christianity – Book of Hebrews P125 (07-01-24)
Understanding Your Identity in Christ Jesus
~ If you are in Christ Jesus, you’ve got a brand new identity. You are a child of the Living God. You are no longer a sinner, you are a Saint in the eyes of God. So then, we need to understand our identity if we are in Christ Jesus. And that is part of the problem right there. Most don’t understand their identity, because they either are Not a child of God, or they are listening to the teaching of Man instead of listening to the Holy Spirit teach a person Truth.
And many of us today that are in Christ Jesus go out of our way to persuade people the Truth of the word of God. We don’t want anyone to perish. We want people to hear and understand TRUTH. Yet those are the ones that the world views as being out of our minds, crazy and weird, because they will say that hardly anyone teaches what we are teaching. And that is TRUTH, hardly anyone indeed is teaching the TRUTH of the word of God. They might be teaching what the word of God says, but they have not exercised faith in the Truth that has been taught. Everything being taught by most teachers today is as though it was from man’s perspective, rather than God’s perspective. They teach that we are a new creation in Christ Jesus, now go out and perform, and be sure NOT to sin, but if you do sin you can get back in fellowship with God by asking for more forgiveness, which are all lies from Satan.
For those not in Christ Jesus, it is important to understand that God reconciled EVERYONE to Himself at the cross. Now believe it, place faith in Him, and He will give you eternal life at that very moment in time, and make you a New Creation in Christ Jesus also. His Holy Spirit will come to live in you and give you LIFE.
For those who are already in Christ Jesus, you are already a New Creation. Allow the Holy Spirit to work and live HIS life through you. For it is faith from first to last, and remember we are the temple of God, designed for Him to use us as He sees fit. Stop listening to the lies of Satan telling you what you need to be doing for Jesus, placing you on guilt trips, trying to get you to give more money to the institutional church and you will be blessed, and every other perverted message from Satan, and start listening to TRUTH from the word of God. You don’t need a man to tell you what the word of God means, for All who are in Christ Jesus we are told that we have the mind of Christ Jesus living in us. We have the same teacher of TRUTH. Start listening to Him today.
~ Therefore, since we know what it means to fear the Lord, we try to persuade men. What we are is clear to God, and I hope it is clear to your conscience as well. We are not commending ourselves to you again. Instead, we are giving you an occasion to be proud of us, so that you can answer those who take pride in appearances rather than in the heart. If we are out of our mind, it is for God; if we are of sound mind, it is for you. For Christ’s love compels us, because we are convinced that One died for all, therefore all died. And He died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves, but for Him who died for them and was raised again. So from now on we regard no one according to the flesh. Although we once regarded Christ in this way, we do so no longer. Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away. Behold, the new has come! All this is from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to Himself in Christ, not counting men’s trespasses against them. And He has committed to us the message of reconciliation. Therefore we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were making His appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ: Be reconciled to God. God made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God. 2 Corinthians 5:11-21
Pray to God:
“Lord Jesus, teach me the truth of the world today and give me the wisdom to know the truth and identify the lies of the devil. Thank you God.”
~ “Now the world comes along and tries again, stands at the foot of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil and says, We know more than you God, and tries to say that homosexuality is just a lifestyle, an alternate lifestyle. We’re born this way, and all of that kind of garbage that comes down the pike that is in total contrast to the Word of God. And the Word of God says that is not so, that is not so. But if you’re not a child of God, well then it’s you’re a homosexual, you’re an adulterer, you’re a worry wart, you’re you got all kinds of identities on you, but if you’re a child of God, and that’s who you are, then you’ve got a new identity. You’ve stepped out of Adam into Christ. That’s a new identity when you were in Adam, you had a destiny. Hell, you had a father called the Devil. When you stepped out of Adam into Christ, you got a new destiny. Heaven, you’ve got a new Father, God of this universe, you have a brand new inheritance. In Christ, Jesus, you are a new creature. And that’s where the Scripture says, If any man be where? In Christ, he is a new creation. It has nothing to do with what you’re doing. It has to do with who you are. And so it is talking as a child of God, as a child of the living God. Keep the marriage bed pure. Honor your marriage. Keep it that way your lives. It says, keep them free from the love of money and be content with what you have. And folks, many times, those two things go hand in glove, money and sex out of marriage. Not always not saying it. I’m just saying it can, and we need to look at it.” ~ Bob George

Now the world comes along and tries again, stands at the foot of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil and says, We know more than you God, and tries to say that homosexuality is just a lifestyle, an alternate lifestyle. I’m just saying it can, and we need to look at it.
Now let’s turn back to Timothy first. Timothy chapter six. First of all, you’ve got a lot of teaching in regard to prosperity, and you can look on you don’t have to flip through your television channel very often or look at some billboards around to see people who are making tons of money. Prosperity is certainly coming their way. But are made tons of money by teaching people the name it and claim it, blab it and grab it, whatever you want to call it, mentality, that godliness is a means to financial gain. Now again, guys, we have to realize the same thing that I was talking about in regard whether it be with homosexuality, whether it be with adultery, fornication, money grabbing, whatever it might be, we have to go to the Word of God to see what we have to say about that. Because the reason this country is in a shape is in is because we don’t go to the Word of God. We are the ones who determine what’s right and wrong and good from evil. That’s why you have to have law on top of law. On top of law on top of law is because man has refused to go to God to say what is right and what’s wrong. And so we we have a standard. We have a plumb line in the Word of God. So if we want to know whether something is true or not, there’s one place to look for it, not in how’s it looking out there, but what does it say in here? And so when you’re talking about that whole philosophy of prosperity and people who teach that you are going to see in the sixth chapter of the book of Timothy, beginning in the third verse, that anyone who teaches false doctrines and does not agree to the sound instruction of the Lord Jesus Christ and to godly teaching, he is conceited and he understands nothing. The reason that you listen to that teaching is because you’re conceited and you don’t understand anything. That’s the reason you teach it, and that’s the reason you believe it. Jesus said, My sheep hear My voice and they follow Me. If you’re not following Him the shepherd, maybe it’s because you’re not His sheep. Because he said, My sheep hear my voice, and when they hear truth, they respond to it. So it says, when you’re teaching false doctrines and you don’t agree with the sound instruction of our Lord Jesus Christ and to the godly teaching of the Lord Jesus Christ, there’s a reason for that conceit. That’s pride, and you don’t understand anything. He has an unhealthy interest in controversies and quarrels about words and that result in envy, strife, malicious talk, evil suspicions and constant friction between men of corrupt minds who have been robbed of the truth and who think that godliness is a means to financial gain. To a teacher, teaching that godliness is a means to financial gain, and to you as a listener, believing that godliness is a means to financial gain is a person that it said is conceited. And you don’t understand anything. The teacher is a corrupt mind. And in another translation, says a perverted mind, which means you’re a pervert, a spiritual pervert. Now I didn’t say this. I didn’t make this up. This is out of the plumb line. When you believe and are taught that godliness is a means to financial gain, you have corrupted your mind. Why? It’s not true, and what it will do is make a phony out of you trying to act and look godly so that maybe you can get some financial gain out of it.
Now he’s talking about there godliness with contentment is great gain to be content in whatever circumstance you’re in, that’s what gain is. Money will buy a bed, but it won’t buy sleep. Money will buy a house but it won’t buy a home. Money can buy entertainment but it can’t buy contentment. And so what you’re dealing with here is that godliness with contentment is about the greatest gain that you and I can ever have. Anything wrong if, if you have worked hard and earned money, or a lot of money? No, not as long as you have contentment with it. But what is, what is the lack of contentment? Well, I want more. Yeah, I want a bigger place. I want a bigger car. I want this. I want more. I want more. I want more. I want more. And normally, when you want more, you try to get it how? Any way you can, and as quickly as you can. That’s why it’s only somebody wanting to get rich quick that normally can get duped by a con artist. If you don’t want to get rich quick, you’ll never be duped by a con artist. It’s the get quick rich schemes that will get to you.
I wanted to get rich quick. And I remember the time that I was leasing and managing a large office building in California. This was long before I came to Christ, and I had leased space to a place there a group called Weavers Beavers. Now, Weavers Beavers had a marvelous way of getting rich quickly, they raised beavers. And everybody knows that those beaver fur is expensive and as very good, and they’re prolific too, those little beavers can get with it. And so you bought a set of beavers and let them get with it and produce more beavers. And as that family grew where they kept track of the genealogy, and course, you got the benefit of all the furs. And so it only cost our life savings to get into Weavers beavers. And so I came home and announced Amy that I was going to buy some beavers. Well, that was thrilling news to her, and she as well, no, and I got mad at her. You don’t understand y’all, you know, all you want to do, just live the way you just live. I want to get rich, you know I want to be rich, and so I’m going to buy these beavers and get get rich. Well, fortunately, my dad was coming into town a couple weeks, and she just pled with me, please just wait till your dad gets here and talk to him. So I agreed to that. And so I took my dad up to talk to the Weavers Beavers. And my dad was an attorney, and and my dad asked a question, what happens if one of those beavers die? He said, Well, you’ve just lost some of that kind of took care of Weavers Beavers, but it was a biggest scam in the world. But I’ll tell you, I can’t believe the number of people that bought beavers out there. I knew hundreds of them. I was so envious of them, and so even to this day, I’m reminded occasionally when I get a hair brain idea about Weavers Beavers, but that’s the way you get blown out. You want to get rich quick. You can get conned easily.
And so it says, Be content with what you have now if you continue working. You keep getting more and more fine. That’s fine, great. Be content with it. Whenever your contentment starts going away, you need to take a look at what’s going on your life, because what good is money without contentment? Seriously? So it’s talking about for here’s the reason that you should learn to be content in all things. He says, we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. You don’t see a U haul it on the back of a hearse. They’re just not there. You’re not going to take one thing with you. When it says, Seek first the kingdom of God. You know where moths come in, they take away. Thieves come in steal. Well, we got hit again last week or two weeks again, two weeks ago. And you know, marvelous place that we live in this society, but our house is broken into, again, ransacked all over the place, and stolen stuff, one thing after another, and and you look at that and and you say, well, where there’s some things there that you wish that weren’t taken? Yeah, there’s sentimental things, value things, they can be replaced, clothes and be replaced, that kind of stuff. There were some sentimental things there. They’ve been in my family since I was a small kid gone. But you look at that, you say, Well, you know, one of these days it’s all going to be gone. And Amy and I were there looking at some pictures yesterday, and you know, you look saying, Well, thank God that thieves don’t come in and steal your pictures. Because in the final analysis, you know, if I had a fire in my house, that probably the first thing I’d go for would be the pictures. They’re irreplaceable. Those are the things that are meaningful in life. And we were sitting there looking at our little kids back in those days, and it just brings tears to your eyes to see those, those little kids, and how quickly life goes from us. And Amy said, you know, honey, it’s not probably very many years from now that our kids are going to be going through these boxes saying that was Mom and Dad. There was Mom and Dad, and that’s true. Life goes by in a hurry.

And so it’s it’s talking to us to have the kind of an attitude that, look, we didn’t bring anything into this world. We came in here naked, and we’re going to go out naked, and we can take nothing out of it. But if we have food and if we have clothing, well we’ll be content with that. People who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge men into ruin and destruction. I know nothing in my life, in my business career, prior to going into the ministry, and of course, have seen tons of it since being in the ministry. But I know nothing that brought more destruction upon families and individuals than money. The love of money. You’ve got enough money to buy anything you want. You normally do you. You normally do, and it’s not buying library books. You can buy. Here’s this world out there, full of glitter and gold and temptation, and you can buy anything you want, and the desires of the flesh do not decrease with that, you can buy anything you want. And after a while, the old desire starts saying, I think I’d like to buy this, I’d like to buy that. I’d like to buy this, I’d like to buy that. And before long, you’ve just bought a whole bunch of the wrong stuff. And so it says to learn to be content with whatever you’ve got. You can fall into temptation and trap and to many harmful desires that plunge men into ruin and destruction. How many people do you know that have been plunged into ruin and destruction? I know a bunch, don’t you? For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil. Doesn’t say money’s the root of evil. It says the love of it is the root of evil. Some people eager for money have wandered from the faith, and they’ve pierced themselves with many griefs.
Folks, you find a person who has a combination in their life of money and contentment or no money and contentment, you found some very fortunate people. You found some people who have their priorities right in life, because in the final analysis, when we finally go either through the rapture or through death to meet the Lord, if we do have an opportunity of looking back, the only thing that’s going to matter in life is our relationship with the Lord. I remember in my own life and in my own journey into coming to Christ, it all happened as a result of a couple of things coming together at the same time. First of all, in my life was the fact of seeking the things of life starting to get a lot of them having a beautiful home in California and and big old black Lincoln Continental convertible and all those things really important, real important things. And that was kind of neat, though, the old trunk went up, this thing down. It was, it was, it was slick, and you just drive around there so proud of yourself, and big old warehouse full of materials and a lot of business and all of those things, and deep down in my heart, empty as a pork barrel. And I look back on the mentality, there’s this ad for baby charter hospital. I think it is. Have you seen that ad where the guy is at the bar and the wife is calling Sanji, we can’t make it because the husband’s sick and hard to get out of bed, and the guy saying, hey, hit me again. We just started. I relate to that. I said many nights in bars like that, with my wife at home crying her eyes out, wanting to know where her husband was, the mentality of a lost man is insanity. It’s nothing less than insanity. And to sit in those bars and conduct those conversations that I wish I could have had a recording because I thought I was so smart, and it probably was just total babbling in there, but you just thought you were just brilliant. You could have saw the President shoot. I could have been president and solved the whole thing in one night. All of that type of a mentality. It’s just insanity and the emptiness that is gripping you inside constantly, as you’re seeing the reality of the fact that, yeah, you’re accumulating some things, but I’m empty inside, and the thing that killed me more than anything else in that state of mind was the fact that I couldn’t love. Had no capacity at all to love. I’d invest a little love over here to get something back, but to give love I couldn’t. I look back on those pictures, I can’t help from looking at those pictures of our kids back there and just bring me to tears because I hardly knew them, and I sit there, and now you can’t recapture that, but I say, My God, the years that I lost by being so preoccupied with bars and stars and movie stars and cars and all the other things that you’re preoccupied with. It. Just it just is insanity, and I lost so much in those years at our kids growing up, and in that time of seeing that taking place in my life, I came to the point where I had achieved what I knew that I could, and I knew I could continue achieving, and I knew that that financial goal could be met. There was no question about that, still empty, and at that particular time, my dad, whom I did love more than anybody in the world, my dad developed cancer, and I’ll never forget my first time my mom calling me if I could come home, back to our home in Indiana, and to see Dad, because he had had part of his throat cut out. Dad was a trial attorney, so he used his voice as his living and I walked into our home there in Indiana. Now here was a man that had been was a very dedicated person, probably one of the most moral men I ever knew in my life. He was a fine man from a human standpoint, but he did not know the Lord. He was religious. But didn’t know the Lord. But standing there in beautiful, palatial home, biggest cars that you can drive money in the bank, and my dad, standing there, the part of his throat cut out down to about 120 pounds, probably the most pitiful looking people have ever seen my life who looked at me and he said, Bob, all my life I work to have enough money to eat anything I want to eat. He said, now I got the money and I can’t eat it, and he couldn’t. And it was that night that as my mom and dad went to bed that I cried like a baby in the living room of our home as I was crying out, Lord, what’s it all about? What’s it all about? Here, from a from a worldly standpoint, my dad had everything, and yet he didn’t have anything, and it was very obvious Before long, he was going to leave everything. And I thought in my own life, that’s going to happen to me someday, I’m going to be in that situation too, and how am I going to meet this? What’s it all about? Is there something more to life than this? And it was in that particular state of mind where Amy and I watched the television program, and we watched some young people talking about a personal relationship with the living Christ. And in that verbiage, I understood that they had something that I didn’t possess. That caused Amy and I to go out to an open house where a man presented us the gospel of Christ, and on that day, we accepted Him into our hearts as our Lord and Savior. And everything in our life began to change. Priorities changed. I didn’t want to hit the bars anymore. I didn’t want to do many of the things that I used to want to do. I began to realize the important things of life, like family and love, and to realize that all of these things that I’ve been seeking can be taken away like that, just like it was, with a blow of wind in Miami, taken away like that.
And as my dad on at the end of his life, was in a hospital in Austin and I went down afterwards, after Amy, and I came to Christ, and I said at my dad’s bedside, as he called us in, my brother and I in, and my dad said this, I had given him a book. I’d flown him out to California to share the Lord with him prior to that. And and my dad’s thing was, I’ve been a good man, and I’ve been in church and all that other thing. And so we gave him a book to read, and he started reading the book. I did not know where he stood in this but he called my brother and I into the hospital room the day that I was getting ready to leave, to to come back. Oh, why I’m sharing that it was this time it was, it was 1969 at this very, this very, this very day, Memorial Day coming up. I left Austin. But. Before I left, my dad called us into his room, and he started talking, and in this garbled tone, he said to my brother and I said, Guys, he said, all the things that I thought were so important in life, and all the things that I’ve placed such great emphasis in in life are absolutely meaningless when you’re laying here like this, dying of cancer. And he said, guys, the only thing that’s important is man and his relationship with God. And he said, Bob, I read that book you gave me and everything is, Okay. I left, and by the time Amy and I arrived back to California, why the phone was ringing, and it was my sister telling me that dad had died. He’d gone to be with the Lord. And the first words that came out of my mouth were in all things, give thanks for this is the will of God concerning you. In Christ, Jesus, I said, Thank You, Lord, for the years that I had my dad. Thank you for using his illness to draw me unto yourself, and thank you for then using me to go back and to share you with him before he died. Does God work all things together for good? Yes, he does. All of Dad’s riches, all of Dad’s wealth, is all gone. It’s all gone, but he is alive with Jesus. That’s all that matters in this world. Is Christ Jesus.
