Classic Christianity – Book of Galatians P16 (09-02-24)

The Holy Spirit is Our Guide, NOT The Law

~ For everyone who is Christ Jesus, God Himself is our guide in life. He instructs us at every moment of the day. Don’t let anyone tell you that you need to obey the law of God for God to bless you, and that God is upset with you if you don’t toe the line so to speak. This is a lie that Satan wants you to believe, and to live in fear, fear that God is going to zap you. He doesn’t want you to realize that the Holy Spirit is alive living in you. And for those that are in Christ Jesus, and are abiding in Him, He will show you ALL TRUTH that is going on today. And be not surprised when you are given eyes to see and ears to hear, for they are His eyes and His ears that He wants you to see and hear with. Things are not what they seem today. For the lies are everywhere, and we ourselves have even spread them, because we did not know the Truth and did not have understanding and instead believed in what Man had taught us from birth. But be aware, that there is more than meets the eye to understanding what is going on in the world today. The deception is greater than anyone imagined. Only those that are trusting in Him (trusting in the Holy Spirit to see and hear with God’s eyes and ears) will be able to see what is going on.

You will not find the truth taught at some brick and mortar church today, because they were all taught by their cemetery seminary professors, that they themselves were taught lies and passed them down to the people sitting in the pews. And if you have a difficult time believing that to be the case, just try preaching to the people in a so-called “church” setting that “God was in Christ, reconciling the whole world to Himself, and is no longer counting anyone’s sins against them.” Try telling them that there is no more forgiveness being done by God. Try telling them that God forgave everyone’s sins at the cross. Try telling them that we are no longer under the law. Try telling them that they are making a mockery of the cross when they keep on asking God to forgive them. And you will see just what type of responses you get. Maybe some people will actually come to know Truth (which is good), but the leadership will try to silence you any way they can, even to the point that many of us have actually been kicked out of churches for preaching Truth. And don’t assume that anyone else is saved in these types of “church” settings, for Satan has convinced the majority of people they are saved, when in fact they have not believed in the Truth of the word of God, and do NOT have the Holy Spirit living in them. They have no clue what salvation is. They have placed their faith in their own faith and have a belief system as taught by Man, instead of Jesus who is God himself for TRUTH and for LIFE and WISDOM and RIGHTEOUSNESS.

But here is the thing folks, God wants to use each of us as He sees fit. When we abide in Him, He will direct our paths. If he wants you to tell someone about the Truth of the word of God, then do so. If He wants you to speak to the leadership group, then do so. And do not worry about results, for the results are in God’s hands. Who knows, maybe years later someone might come to the knowledge of Truth based on you being a True spokesperson for God himself. For Love always directs people to the Truth of the Word of God. For God is LOVE. Jesus is the LOVE of God. And Love ALWAYS rejoices in TRUTH. Jesus is TRUTH.

If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a ringing gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have absolute faith so as to move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and exult in the surrender of my body,a but have not love, I gain nothing.

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no account of wrongs. Love takes no pleasure in evil, but rejoices in the truth. It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be restrained; where there is knowledge, it will be dismissed. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when the perfect comes, the partial passes away.

When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I set aside childish ways. Now we see but a dim reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.

And now these three remain: faith, hope, and love; but the greatest of these is love. 1 Corinthians 13:1-13

“Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life. Whoever rejects the Son will not see life. Instead, the wrath of God remains on him.” John 3:36

“For Christ is the end of the law, to bring righteousness to everyone who believes.” Romans 10:4

It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not be encumbered once more by a yoke of slavery.

Take notice: I, Paul, tell you that if you let yourselves be circumcised, Christ will be of no value to you at all. Again I testify to every man who gets himself circumcised that he is obligated to obey the whole law. You who are trying to be justified by the law have been severed from Christ; you have fallen away from grace.

But by faith we eagerly await through the Spirit the hope of righteousness. For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision has any value. All that matters is faith, expressed through love.

You were running so well. Who has obstructed you from obeying the truth? Such persuasion does not come from the One who calls you. A little leaven works through the whole batch of dough. I am confident in the Lord that you will take no other view. The one who is troubling you will bear the judgment, whoever he may be.

Now, brothers, if I am still preaching circumcision, why am I still being persecuted? In that case the offense of the cross has been abolished. As for those who are agitating you, I wish they would proceed to emasculate themselves!

For you, brothers, were called to freedom; but do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh. Rather, serve one another in love. The entire law is fulfilled in a single decree: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” But if you keep on biting and devouring one another, watch out, or you will be consumed by one another. Galatians 5:1-15

Pray to God:

Do you really want to know the WHOLE Truth of what is going on today?

“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened to you.” Matthew 7:7

Lord Jesus, teach me the truth of the world today and give me the wisdom to know the truth and identify the lies of the devil. Thank you God.”

~ “Now Christ came to free us from the demands of the law so that we could walk freely, being guided now by who? The Holy Spirit of God, who is alive, indwelling you. And if he isn’t indwelling you, you don’t have anything to be led by but the law. And that’s why people hang on to the law, is they have no awareness at all of the Holy Spirit of God, either have him and are too dumb to realize it, or they don’t have him. You either have a life that you don’t live or you don’t have a life that you try to live, one of the two. And so he says, if you’re now in Christ, it is for freedom that I have set you free. The Law killed you the demands of the law drove you to the grave. Paul said, under the law, the things I want to do, I don’t do, and the things I don’t want to do, I do them anyway. Wretched man that I am who will free me from this bondage of what? Sin and death under the law. And his answer to that was, thanks be to God. Through Jesus Christ, my Lord, He has set me free. So he says, Stand firm. Stand firm. Don’t be a Mealy mouth. Stand firm. Don’t be vacillating back and forth under the law, under grace. Don’t try to be politically correct. Don’t try to make brownie points with your professors. Stand firm in the grace of God, and do not let yourself be burdened again by the yoke of slavery. I freed you, do not go back and be a slave. You’ve been freed. You’re now free.” ~ Bob George

Now Christ came to free us from the demands of the law so that we could walk freely, being guided now by who? The Holy Spirit of God, who is alive, indwelling you. And if he isn’t indwelling you, you don’t have anything to be led by but the law. And that’s why people hang on to the law, is they have no awareness at all of the Holy Spirit of God, either have him and are too dumb to realize it, or they don’t have him. Wretched man that I am who will free me from this bondage of what? Sin and death under the law. And his answer to that was, thanks be to God. Through Jesus Christ, my Lord, He has set me free. You’ve been freed. You’re now free.

It’s like a guy that lives in the apartment and his landlord lives next to him, and he’s mean as a hen, an old, that’s an old, mean hen, mean, that’s right, just mean. And every month, here he comes knocking on the door. Where’s the rent? Of course, it’s 10 days before it’s due, but I want it now, and you’re making too much noise, and I don’t like the way you keep your house, and I don’t like, I mean, just griping all the time at him, and this guy sits there living in that house, and he’s miserable, but he can’t move someplace else. But he hates this guy. And one day, one of his buddies comes up, knocks on the door, and he lets him in. He said, Man, did you hear the good news? Said, no. What is it? The building’s been sold, really? Yeah, the old guy next door sold the building to a new group of landlords. No kidding. What are they like? Oh, phenomenal. A bunch of Christian people. They’re loving we’ve talked to some people over there that where they own other buildings. And you know, if you’re a little late on your rent, that kind of stuff, they just work with you. Just marvelous, loving people. They say, Oh, fantastic, fantastic. Incidentally, where’s the old goat going to move? The old, old owner? Oh, he’s going to stay here. He’s going to rent from them. Next month comes along banging on the door. Here’s the old landlord banging on the door, saying, where’s your rent? You make too much noise. And you know what we do? We just pull up our little chair and sit there and listen to Him and live under the frightening demands of somebody doesn’t even have anything to do with you anymore. Now, what do you do with a guy like that? You tell him to get lost. You tell him, Sir, I am under new ownership. You don’t own this place anymore. You live here just like I do. Get lost. I don’t want to listen to you anymore and slam the door in his face and enjoy where you live. You’re under new ownership.

Now that is exactly what he’s talking about here. Don’t let yourself be burdened again by the yoke of slavery. Don’t get back under the old landlord’s commands when he’s not the landlord anymore, he is not your master, and that’s what he’s trying to get about. You’re going to be mastered by one of two people, Satan or God, and don’t get back under the yoke of slavery to be mastered by the law, because it says in the scripture that the power of sin is in the law. So you keep yourself under the power of sin and walk in this defeated lifestyle, because you don’t slam the door on your old landlord and say, I’m under new ownership. So Mark my words. Paul says, I tell you that if you let yourself be circumcised, Christ will be of no value to you at all. Now, why is he saying this? Well, once again, every place, Paul went into the Gentile world and told people about their freedom in Christ, the Judaizers came right in behind them and began to try to put them under Hebrew law, stating that Christianity is an extension of Hebrewism, and you cannot be a true Christian until you become a true Hebrew. And one of the signs of being a Hebrew is to be circumcised, and so you have to go through the rite of circumcision in order to become a true Hebrew, and therefore a true Christian, putting them back under the Hebrew law again. Did the Gentiles ever have the law of circumcision? Never that was all Hebrew. And so he says, if you let yourself be circumcised, circumcised, Christ will be of no value to you at all. In other words, you’re back under the legal system. You’ve just put yourself back under the old owner, and are going to be right back in bondage again, again. I declare to every man who lets himself be circumcised, He is obligated to obey what? The whole law do. So if you allow, if you get back under one law, you’re obligated to obey. How many of them? All of them. Guys, according to God, not according to religion, but according to God. You don’t cherry pick the law. You don’t take the ones you like and bring them over and leave the others behind.

Now, do we ever do that in Christianity? Like, what? What’s one you can think of? Tithing. Tithing. We like that one. We can raise money easier. Does tithing belong in your freedom? That’s a do not a done. Why do we teach it? Why do we pull Malachi over into the New Covenant? Now to me, I have difficulty believing that people don’t know that they’re deceiving people. I have trouble with that because I don’t know how you can read this and come up with any other conclusion, but that’s just one thing we drag over. What’s another thing under the law we drag over? How did you get forgiven under the Old Covenant? Day of Atonement, that was law. How do you get forgiven today? Well, let’s see. There’s no more Day of Atonement. So let’s first John one nine and go to our confession booths, and let’s do all those things. Is it a do or a done? Is your forgiveness a do or is it a done? It’s done. Who did it. Christ? How much of it? All of it. What’s left for you? None. So why are we still going to God to get forgiveness? When he said, forgiveness is done, what are you doing? Burdening yourself again with the yoke of slavery and hoping that your memory does not diminish as you get older. Because what happened if you forgot one? That’s what happens.

So what is he saying to us? Christ will be of no value to you at all. I declare that every man who lets himself be circumcised that he’s obligated to obey the whole law. If you want to obey the law of tithing. You’ve got to obey all of them. No man will ever be declared righteous in the sight of God through obedience to the law. James says the same things, if you violate just the least of these my commandments you violated. How many of them? All of them. What kind of shape does that leave us in, folks? I mean, that’s pretty bad shape. I violated every law there is but Lord, you take me into heaven with you. Those of you who are trying to be justified by the law, are there people who are trying to be justified by the law? What are you doing when you’re talking about that I worship on Saturday, and that’s the Sabbath, and you worship on Sunday, and you’re going to hell. You and then we get little liberal and say, Well, maybe not hell, but you gotta get close to it. Now I want to ask you a question, folks, what is the Sabbath? Is that the law? Is that a part of the law?

Turn back with me to Colossians a minute. Colossians two and again, we’re just going to briefly go over this again, verse 16. Therefore, don’t let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink or with regard to a religious festival, a new moon celebration, a Sabbath day, or the way you dance. That wasn’t in there, yes, all right. Now he’s named about four or five things there, but let’s just take them one at a time, a Sabbath day. Did was there a Sabbath? And is there a Sabbath day? And what’s it talk about in the Scripture about the Sabbath, set it apart and make it holy. How many laws did the Hebrews have around the Sabbath alone? 600 and some laws around the Sabbath alone. And we’ve laughingly talked about some of those laws that what you can and cannot do on Shabbat, on the Sabbath, if you live in Israel today, you’re going to have to take an elev Shabbat elevator up to up to your room. You can’t push a button that would be considered as work. You can’t spit on the ground on the Sabbath, spit on a rock, but not the ground. Spit on the ground that makes mud. That’s called work. That’s why Jesus spit on the ground, made mud, put it on the guy’s eyes and told him to go wash in the pool that was on the Sabbath. Why did he do that? Because he needed to, don’t to drive him crazy, to show them their hypocrisy, that all you’re worried about is Sabbath, but you don’t care. Give a flip about a guy who was blind and now he can see he showed them their hearts.

Now it says, What is a Sabbath day? These or it the Sabbath day is a shadow of the things that are to come. The reality, however, is found in Christ. It’s a shadow. What’s the law? It’s a shadow. What’s the reality? Jesus. So people bring the Sabbath over from the law the shadow, and worship at the foot of the shadow. Now what is our Sabbath today? I mean, how many days are we supposed to be resting in Jesus? Every moment of the day, not one day a week. Every day he is called the Lord of the Sabbath. What does that mean? He is our Sabbath. Christ is your Sabbath, not a day of the week, every day of the week. And so again, we drag the old the old covenant, the Old Testament, law, over into Christian living, and getting arguments over what day you ought to go to church. It wouldn’t matter whether you were here on Sunday or Wednesday or Tuesday or Thursday or Friday or Saturday. This is not the Sabbath. You are the Sabbath. If you’re resting in Christ, you’re just coming here to learn, not to rest. You should be resting before you get here. And so we understand the difference? Do we understand the difference between the law and grace? And that’s what he’s trying to get to us.

Bob George 14:37
Now it says you who are trying to be justified by the law, have been alienated from Christ. You have fallen away from grace. Now, does that mean you’ve lost your salvation? Do people teach that you’ve fallen from grace? Man, you’ve lost it. What’s he talking about here? What’s the subject here? Law and grace. When you’ve fallen from grace, what did you fall back to? The law. It’s not you lose your salvation. You’ve gotten yourself back under the law. You’ve fallen from the grace of God that saved you and trying to perfect yourself by human effort. He just got through talking about that in Galatians three. You foolish, idiotic Galatians who has mesmerized you, hypnotized you and cast an evil spell upon you? You used to see the meaning of Christ’s death as clearly as though I’ve painted a place card in front of your face. Have you gone mad? He said, I want to ask you a question, Did you receive the Spirit of God by obeying the law or by believing what you heard? Well, after beginning by faith, believing what you heard, why are you now trying to perfect yourself by human effort? That’s the question. Why are you now going back under the law and trying to perfect yourself under the law instead of allowing Jesus’ Spirit to perfect you? Why are you working at what you can’t work at? Why aren’t you resting in the completed work of Jesus and accessing his life instead of trying to produce his life? Now he says, You’ve fallen away from grace, back under the law. But by faith, we eagerly await through the Spirit the righteousness for which we hope. It’s by faith that we await through the Spirit Righteousness.

Who is your Righteousness? Christ, Jesus, it is because of him, God that you are in Christ, Jesus, who has become for you, what? Your righteousness, your holiness, your sanctification, your everything. He’s your everything. For in Christ, Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision has any value at all. It doesn’t matter one way or the other. Now, folks, is this a popular message to the Hebrews, their identification to the whole world, that if you needed proof who I am was circumcision. It was identification. I am a Hebrew, and I can prove it by my circumcision. Their whole identity was wrapped up in circumcision, at least for the males. He is coming to them and saying, it has no value at all, none at all. The only thing that counts and look at this guys, is faith expressing itself through love. Faith expressing itself through love. How you doing a love department? Self righteous ones? You want to test it again? I think it’s good for us to do this check every now and then.

Let’s go back to First Corinthians. Some people say love’s not. Again, we’re not going to elaborate or go on this for any length of time. I just want anybody, anybody who, because you all look good to me, but there may be someone still sitting there struggling with your self righteousness, and I don’t know who you are, but I’ll guarantee you there’s one in here at least. And so if there’s one, we’re going to try to drive some sense into our heads, because he says, The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love. So let’s take a look at First Corinthians 13 love, because this is God’s love for you, first and foremost, and then as we understand, that’s how God loves me. Now I got something to love you with, so let’s see how we’re doing in the love department. I am always patient. Do we still have a self righteous one left? This doesn’t mean I’m patient sometimes and sometimes I’m not patient. It says love is patient. That means continually. My nature is patient. Love is kind. I wouldn’t think an unkind thought if my life depended on it. Love never envies. Love never boasts. I never boast about myself. Love is never proud. You like that one? Love is never rude. Never been rude to anybody in my life. Love is never self seeking. I look out of for others, over and above myself every moment of the day. Let’s see how we’re doing here. Love is never easily angered. Is anyone left in a self righteous department? I’m just curious. Love keeps no records of wrongs. I don’t keep a filing cabinet on Amy’s wrongs. Keep it on my computer. I you can pull them up faster that way.

You keep records of people’s wrongs? Who bring them up when they need them. Great tool, aren’t they? Love doesn’t delight in evil, but rejoices in truth, especially when someone admonishes me, I love it when Amy tells me what’s wrong with me, rejoice in it. Thank you, sweetie for that. Love always protects others, love always trusts others, love always hopes the best for others. Now, how’d you do? Now, folks, I want to say that if you’ve got self righteousness in you that should have destroyed it, because that’s the that’s the goal, that that’s the that’s the line, not this other garbage we go through. But how you doing in the love department? And I don’t know about you, but I don’t do too well in all this all the time. Do you? And that shows me my need for Christ when I look at First Corinthians 13, the demands on that, the only thing I can say is, Lord Jesus, I need your help. I need your life. I need your love. And also, incidentally, Lord, thanks for your mercy. The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love, faith in the God of love, who gives you love so that you can give others love. And he says, that’s all it counts.

Now, can you love apart from your knowledge of His love for you? No. Now that’s why you can’t walk around with this lovey, dovey stuff that people come by that make a difference about doctrine. Just love each other. Listen, if you don’t know doctrine, you don’t have anything to love somebody with. If you don’t know the truth of the love of God for you and the grace of God for you and the forgiveness of God to you, then you don’t have anything to give. Old Covenant, New Covenant. Under the new under the Old Covenant, an issue we’ve talked about it. Talk about it because it’s important to talk about under the Old Covenant was forgiveness conditional or unconditional? Totally conditional, that if you do not forgive your brother here on Earth, your Father in heaven will not forgive you. It’s very interesting to me that how, in the Christian community that two things that we’ve memorized, most everybody has memorized, LORD’s Prayer and First John one nine. I would imagine that everybody who’s a Christian, or everybody who goes to Christian Church, has probably memorized those two verses. Do you agree with me? At least one of them, Lord’s Prayer, for sure.

Now, isn’t it strange that the Lord’s Prayer was given according number one, it’s not the Lord’s prayer. The Lord didn’t pray for forgiveness. It’s a disciples prayer. Was it ever prayed again? I mean, did Paul ever pray that prayer? Did you ever hear writings of Paul praying of Peter, author of Hebrews? John? No, no. Nobody prayed it. Why? It wasn’t given to repeat over and over again. As a matter of fact, he warned us before he gave it to us that don’t pray like the heathen do, who take a prayer and pray that over and over and over again. So what do we do? Take his prayer and pray it like the heathen do over and over and over again. Forgive us our sins, our debts as we forgive those who sin or have debts against us. And then we say, Amen, piously, we don’t keep reading because it goes ahead to say, For if you do not forgive your brother here on Earth, that you can see your Father in heaven will not forgive you. Now I want to ask you, how in a world do you reconcile that with God? Was in Christ reconciling the world unto himself? Not counting our sins against us, and he not only died for our sins, but the sins of the whole world. How are you going to reconcile? How you going to reconcile those two? Is that a contradiction? Or is it a contradiction? But is it a contradiction? No, it’s old covenant, and new covenant. Under the Old Covenant, forgiveness was conditional. If you don’t forgive your brother, your Father in heaven will not forgive you under the New Covenant, where all of your sins were, what? Taken away God was in Christ taking away the sins of the world. Behold, the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world. Forgiveness is over. Under the New Covenant, forgive one another. How? As Christ, Jesus forgave you. Under the old if you don’t forgive, your Gather won’t forgive. Under the new forgive as Christ forgave you. And when you do not understand the difference between the old covenant and the New Covenant you will be continually confused in your Biblical understanding, and you’ll run across these passages of Scripture that appear to be that they contradict each other. What do you do with those? Read them faster and yell louder and hope nobody catches it. It’s there. And there’s a contradiction between the two. If you do not understand old and new, and you’re going to look at the Bible and say the Bible contradicts itself. That’s where liberal theology comes in. Is it says it contradicts itself. And I say you’re right. It does contradict itself unless you understand the difference between the old covenant and the New Covenant. But when you understand the difference between the old and the new, then again, you understand one is do and the other is done. And when Christ cried out from the cross, It is finished, he meant it’s finished. And that’s why you and I live today under a new covenant. It’s a covenant of grace.
