Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P717 (03-17-22)

Becoming a Child of The Living God – Jesus Will Set You Free

In today’s call in program, you will be blessed to listen to a woman that becomes saved on the air. Another caller also called in regards to Bob’s book Classic Christianity and what a blessing it has been to him and others. And another caller called up to thank Bob and the Ministry for providing him with teaching materials while he was in prison and what a blessing they were to him.

Welcome to Classic Christianity Radio with Bob George. Today we are pleased to present a special radio show featuring callin listeners from Bob’s original People-to-People daily radio program, that was on the air for over 30 years offering real answers for real life problems, as he addresses common questions as well as the tough issues of today directing callers to the centrality of Christ in you your only hope of glory. We want to remind our listeners that Bob George Ministries needs your financial support to continue to have Classic Christianity Radio on the air. Please visit BobGeorge.net to find out how you can help support us financially. Let’s now join Bob as he presents practical, biblical insights, as he helps people experience a life of faith, hope and love in Jesus Christ.

Dean from Colorado Springs, Colorado

Dean: I cannot get you very well down here because I had power down on the station. I can hear you a little bit on the radio. I get some kind of music that comes in about half an hour after you come on and drowns you all out.

Bob: That is all a part of good old radio. You have to cut power back on A.M stations. That happens every year. The best thing to do is get on the internet during those periods of times and possibly pick up the program there.

Dean: I do not have a computer, but I certainly get into your books and I am reading them and listening as much as I can. But more than that I am able to share a lot of this with my family. I just wanted to share something with you, Bob, that has been absolutely a miracle. My sister, who is in Arkansas, and I have talked to you about her before. She is absolutely in love with the Lord. Her middle son had got caught up in drugs and things like that. He has been living with a gal for the last six years in Pensacola, FL. Finally, he just got fed up with it and went to Arkansas. And he saw that when he got there, he saw his mother, who was an absolutely changed person because of the Lord in her life now. He was just absolutely amazed and she was able to share a lot of this stuff, Bob, through your books and especially Classic Christianity and Victory over Depression. He said, “For some reason I have got to get back to Pensacola.” So he went back to Pensacola and he called me the other night, “Uncle Dean, I want to tell you something.” He will be 39 in December. “My mind is as clear as it has been in I do not know many years. I am thinking clearly right now. I am going to get a lot of stuff I left here in Pensacola and I am going to straighten out. I am going to tell people who I have wronged I am going to make right. When I read the first few chapters of that book, Victory over Depression, that man talked about me. My mind got so clear I could think for the first time in I cannot remember in how many years.” I want to share that your books have the power they are having in people’s lives.

John 8:32
32 Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.

Bob: Well, Dean, thank you. It is very humbling to know that and to hear that. But again, it is back to that same old thing, that truth is what sets people free and error is what binds you. When you are in a condition that is totally contrary to the things of God, you are in error. Your mind is full of error. And it is not complicated. How do you get rid of error. You replace it with truth. It is not something you have to wallow around on the ground with. You just begin to, like what happened to the gentleman you are talking about, you begin to read truth and that truth begins to dispel error in your head, and if you have come to the Lord, that is the whole process we will be in as long as we are alive on this earth. We will be replacing error that is in our minds, and still to this day, full of error, and replacing that with truth. That is all a part of the renewing of the mind that will be taking place as long as we are alive.

Dean: This young man is my nephew. I love him dearly. My sister has three boys and my younger sister has three boys. I love all these boys. He told me the other night when he called me, and he was absolutely in tears. He said, “Uncle Dave, you lived this life for so many years. I saw it and I denied it. I have seen the change made in you.” He said, “I can see the difference it is making in me now. I want to thank you for being there for me.”

Bob: Wow! Well, that is what makes life worthwhile isn’t it, Dean.

Romans 8:31-33
31 What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? 32 He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all – how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? 33 Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies.

Hebrews 13:5
5 God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.”

Bob: Yes. That is the message, absolutely. Talk about a purpose filled life. There is only one purpose for us being here and that is to make our bodies available to the living Christ who lives in us to live His life in and through us. It is not living by a group of principles or living by law or to get all the church together doing the same things at the same time at the same place with the same degree of enthusiasm. It is recognizing God saves you and me individually and is there to guide us individually just like He told Peter, “What is it to you if I have him to live forever? I am telling you to follow Me.” He is not telling you to get into church to do the same thing, the same time, the same place, with the same degree of enthusiasm.

Dean: Right.

John 16:13
13 But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.

Bob: He says, “Individually I will guide you. I will tell you where I want you to go and how to do it.” If we will just learn to trust the Holy Spirit of God living in us, that would be amazing the results that would take place. I was thinking of a comment I heard the other day. Somebody was talking about all these birds. They all left to go to another place. It was getting cold here. Just like the swans coming back from California to Capistana. They do not have a calendar. How do they do that? They do not have to watch either. They just show up at the same time every year. Somebody said those are smart birds. No. Those are birds who are listening to whatever voice that is within them telling them what to do. They are just merely listening to it. If we ever learn to be obedient there is no telling what would be accomplished in our lives.

Dean: It was like the salmon that went back to where they were. How do they know to do that? It has to be something greater than ourselves?

Bob: Absolutely.

Dean: And it is not the big bang either.

Bob: Nope.

Dean: Anyway, I wanted to share that with you. I am just humbled by what the Lord is doing in my sisters lives and nephews now. The Lord had got a hold of Buddy now. His name is buddy. The Lord has got a hold of his life. The other two brothers are going to see a difference that he saw in his mother. He is going to have an influence on the other two boys. I just sense in my spirit that great things are going to happen very, very soon. I want to let you know. Thank God for your wisdom, Bob, and through your insight into the mind that we do not have psychological problems but we have thinking problems. We need to get our thoughts together. We need to get our thinking straightened out and everything else will fall in line.

Bob: Well, Dean, thank you so much for your call, brother. You call at any time.

Bob: Let’s go to David in Kansas City, Kansas. David, you’re on the air, brother.

David: All right, Bob.

Bob: How are you doing?

David: Thanks. A little over 12 years ago, all of us turned on crack cocaine around in the house and stole the purse and I served over 12 years in prison for that. While I was incarcerated your ministry and your supporters sent me books and literature to help me and really helped a lot because it got me off of the religious treadmill in the works into relationship. And I’m out of prison now, got out last week or two weeks ago and I just had to call and say, thanks. I was flipping through the dials there and sure enough you were on in this area.

Bob: Well, that’s phenomenal. David. I’m so glad to hear that, and that we could be a benefit to you. You’re out now. And you had 14 years for the stealing of a pocketbook.

David: Yeah. I served a little over 12.

Bob: Oh brother, that crack, from what I understand is the most addicting one of the most addicting drugs that’s in existence today. And from my understanding on that, you don’t have to do it twice, once takes care of it.

David: You know that, well, I guess the thing was, I was going to church and I just felt like that. I didn’t meet up to the standard. I still smoke cigarettes, and I was kind of depressed and kind of just gave up on it, you know? And just kind of ran from God and ended up getting it on with alcohol and strung out.

I’m divorced now, you know, I’m starting, starting anew. Things are looking up. It’s not easy by any means, but I really appreciated your ministry because when I didn’t have any money sitting in a lonely prison cell facing a lot of years, your ministry came through and sent me books and literature which really encouraged me and helped me not to give up because I really felt like giving up and found out that you know, there is a relationship for those who are less than perfect. You don’t have it all together and that God’s love is there for all of us no matter how badly we fail. And today. I don’t have to run from God thinking that he’s angry going to strike me with a tornado or light and boulder car wreck or something. I’ve learned it to be a relationship based on the grace of God through faith in Christ and His resurrected life.

Your advice made a lot of difference and I really want you to know and your supporters to know that you know, there’s not a lot of people that reach out to help you when you’re down flat on your back, that I appreciate it and soon as I get on my feet and get some finances coming in like to be able to use some support.

Bob: Well, David, thank you brother. And that’s, you know, I think what you were saying there is so true, that you have people who don’t realize that when they give to a ministry like that, they’re not really giving to the ministry. They’re giving through the ministry because the money comes in and goes back out in order to help people such as yourself. Most people don’t have, fortunately haven’t had the experience of being in a cell by yourself.

You can relate a lot more to the apostle Paul in, in part of his life, and then we can, but it’s lonely and to be able to reach out to you like that was a privilege for us David. And it’s what God has called us to do and is, is to reach out to all people and our whole ministry. You know, Jesus said, I didn’t come for the well. Our whole ministry has not reached out to the people who supposedly have it all together because quite frankly, nobody has it all together. We’ve reached out to people in all walks of life and have been able to touch lives in every realm of society. And we’ve done a lot into the prison ministries and we’re grateful for that opportunity. So brother, we just love you and thank God we were able to be there for you and we still are and I can’t tell you how much I appreciate your call David. God bless you David.

Bob: We’re going to go to Tracy, listening in Albany, New York. Tracy, you’re on the air.

Tracy: Hi, Bob. I just called on a lark. I’m listening to you driving in my car and I think I’m going to sleep every night for a really long time, praying that I wouldn’t wake up in the morning and it’s just not happening. And I know that it would be wrong to take my own life. I would never do that. But at the same time, I can’t understand how a loving God wouldn’t just mercifully take me while I sleep.

Bob: Because it’s not time for you to go Tracy. And why would you, why would you want to? Why do you want to die? I mean, what’s going on in your life that you don’t want to remain alive?

Tracy: There’s absolutely no love in my life. There’s no love of. There’s no happiness.

Bob: Let me ask you a question, Tracy. What is, what is your relationship with the Lord?

Tracy: I think he doesn’t care about me anymore. Best I can figure.

Bob: You see that you see, Tracy, that’s built upon your own understanding. Jesus said, I’ll never leave you nor forsake you, he says, nothing can separate you from the love of God. And yet you’re saying you’re separated from the love of God. You see you’re thinking someplace down the line needs to be renewed. Now what you have to do is to sit back and say have I ever experienced a true relationship with Christ Jesus? Because if you haven’t, that’s what’s causing your depression. Your depression comes from, first of all, unrealistic expectations towards people and misplaced dependencies, any dependencies that you have except Christ is a misplaced dependency for your meeting and purpose to life. And then the other root of all problems is unrealistic expectations. Expecting everyone to love you. Expecting that you can find happiness from people, that’s unrealistic. It’s not going to happen.

Tracy: I don’t expect everyone to love me, I just wish someone did.

Bob: Well someone does, His name is Christ Jesus and that’s where you have to put your dependency Tracy, is on Christ Jesus. People let you down in this world. You have been insulted. You have been injured and you have been rejected. I got news for you, you’ve also injured and rejected other people in this world. You’re going to have tribulation in this world. You’re going to be the cause of other people’s tribulation. That’s because we’re fallen people. And as fallen people we make mistakes. And so you have to come back to am I complete. As an example Tracy, if you have a light bulb, that’s a finely made instrument and when you look at a light bulb, you realize this thing is really finely made, but it will not function apart from being plugged into electricity. And if that light bulb is not plugged into electricity, you’re not going to get light out of it. In other words, it isn’t going to be able to function, according to the purpose that it was manufactured.

Trace: So how do I plug into the love of God?

Bob: There you go. And there’s the question that you have asked, and that’s the question I’m going to answer for you because you see, God living in us, Tracy, is indispensable to our true humanity. God created man to be in dwelt by God, because God and the man is indispensable to the humanity of the man. And when a man is born into this world without God living in him. That’s why we’re always longing for something that we never get. I didn’t come to Christ till I was 36 years of age. I was constantly searching for love. Just like you’re talking about, I could not find it in humans. And I realized at 36, that what I was missing was the spirit of God living in me. I was a man running around like a car without spark plugs in it. It wasn’t functioning properly. And so at the age of 36 Tracy, is where someone shared with me the truth. The gospel that Christ came to this Earth because he loved me, and that had I been the only person on the face of the Earth or if you were the only person on the face of the Earth, that Jesus would have gone to a cross to take away your sins from the eyes of God, never to see them again. And why do you do that? Because of love and that Jesus entered into your death with you, your spiritual death with you, so that through His resurrection you could come along alive living in Him. And until we’re alive to God, we’re always searching, we’re never finding. All we experience is frustration. Just exactly all the things you’re going through until we come into that relationship with God and Tracy, what you do with that is come to Christ Jesus by faith and faith alone. And what you come to is, recognizing that what He said about you is true.

And he says Tracy, you have sinned and all have sinned. There’s none righteous. No, not one. But I came to give you life. I went to a cross and took away your sins from the eyes of God, and I was raised from the dead so that life that raised me from the dead can raise you from the dead and to indwell you eternally with the promise. I’ll never leave you and I’ll never forsake you and to be able to give you the fruit of the Spirit of love and joy, and peace, and patience and kindness and goodness. Those are all things that will be yours. And all I want you to do is to accept Me by faith. And all that is, is being able to say that the Holy Spirit of God is saying to you Stacey, this is true. And Stacey is saying, I believe that with all my heart, and I believe that until I come into that kind of a relationship with Christ. I’m never going to find the joy that I’m looking for or the love that I’m looking for, or the peace that I’m looking for, until I come in contact with the Prince of peace, and the author of love and the author of joy. And I want Jesus right now to come into my heart and to be my Lord, and to be my Savior. And if you’re thanking Him in your heart, being able to say, Lord Jesus, thank you that you took away my sins at the cross. Never to see him again. Took them away from the eyes of God and that You entered into My spiritual death with me so that I can enter into your Resurrection with you. And I want You to come into my heart as my Lord and Savior.

Stacy: Is that all I have to do?

Bob: Stacy, that is all you have to do. And Stacey, you’ll be a new creature. And if you believe that to be true and you’re willing to accept that by faith, or you have already accepted that by faith. What I’d suggest for you to do is to express that to God in prayer. And you’re not saved by prayer. But prayer is the way you express yourself to God, verbally, that God, I believe what you said about me, and I believe what you said about you and I want to become your child, totally loved Tracy, for the rest of your life to know that nothing can separate you from the love of God and every desire in your heart to be loved will be fulfilled by realizing that you’re loved by the God of this universe. And if you’re ready to do that tonight. I want to pray with you if you’re willing.

Tracy: I’m more than ready. I’m more than ready.

Bob: That’s phenomenal. Tracy. Why don’t you just right now then, let’s pray together, and I’m going to just verbalize the prayer that probably is already gone on in your heart, to express to Jesus your readiness to accept Him. And why don’t you just repeat after me?

[Bob and Tracy repeat this following prayer together]

  • Lord Jesus, I need You.
  • I thank you for dying to forgive my sins.
  • To take them away from the eyes of God, never to see them again.
  • I now, thank you for giving me your life.
  • Your resurrected life.
  • I asked you to come into my heart.
  • To be my Lord and my Savior.
  • And my best friend.
  • In Jesus name Amen.

Bob: Tracy based on the word of God it says to as many as received Him to them He gave the right to become a child of God. Now you just received Him, didn’t you?

Tracy: Yes

Bob: And what have you now become?

Tracy: A child of God.

Bob: There you go. Child of God. I too am a child of God. So what’s that make us?

Tracy: Brothers and Sisters.

Bob: Absolutely, you’ve got brothers and sisters now all over the world rejoicing in the fact that you have now been as it says in the Bible transferred from the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of the Son in whom He loved. And in whom you have redemption, the forgiveness of sins and you’ve become a child of the living God. That’s your identity Tracy. From this day forth, you’re not a Baptist, or a Presbyterian, or Methodist or Catholic. You’re a child of the living God and He made you that way. And it says He who has the Son has life. And you just have accepted the son. Haven’t you?

Tracy: Yep.

Bob: And what do you have? You have life? And He who does not have the Son of God does not have life. So until you accepted Him you didn’t have life, but now you’ve accepted Him and you have life.

Tracy: Is there something I need to do now or start doing or stop doing?

Bob: Well, you need to start this Growing in Grace. It’s like a baby coming out of the mother’s womb and saying what should I do? It says let me feed you. Let me grow you. Let me take care of you. You’re a child of God and let me help you grow. And so you begin. Do you have a Bible?

Tracy: I don’t. But I know where to get one.

Bob: Well, I want you to do that and we’re going to send you some material that will help you to solidify in your heart what you just did. We’re going to have to take a break here. I want you to stay on the line and we’ll be right back with you. Okay?

Tracy: All right, thank you.

Bob: All right.
