We All Need Taught to Abide in the Vine, Christ Jesus

~ “Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.

“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. If you do not remain in me, you are like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned. If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.

“As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commands and remain in his love. I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete.” ^{John 15:4-11}

~ “Absolutely. Again, all of those things are wrapped up in what Jesus taught. And so that’s to love one another. And basically, everything that Jesus taught, or everything it was taught in the Old Testament in regard to us, can be wrapped up very simply, simply in the two commands that Jesus left us with love your God, your, with all your heart, mind and soul, and to love one another as yourself and upon these two, he said, hence, the fulfillment of the entirety of the law, that’d be the law of Moses and the prophets. And so those things are, are good for information. They’re good for instruction. But again, if people would apply what Jesus said, and again, the only way that you’re going to apply what Jesus said is if you allow Jesus himself to manifested through us, he taught us that we can’t. And that’s something that we have to understand is, you can teach your children a lot of things that will keep them out of trouble temporarily. But in the in the final analysis, if you don’t teach your child how to abide in Christ Jesus, we haven’t taught him anything. And we have to teach our children and our people that to use the illustration that God used, Jesus used, when he said that I have the vine and you’re the branch. And the only role of a branch is to abide in the life of the vine, and allow the life of the vine to produce in you and me, branch, the fruit of the Spirit, but we cannot produce it, we can only bear the fruit of it. And so if we don’t learn that, then we haven’t learned anything that Jesus came to teach us. So in the final analysis, we can teach these things, but in the final analysis, pulling it off, in other words, making it real is going to have to come as a result of learning how to abide in the vine of Christ Jesus.” ~ Bob George
