Classic Christianity – Book of Hebrews P78 (03-12-24)

Accept the New, It’s For You Too!

~ God transforms you into a child of God if you are in Christ Jesus. He does it all. You don’t make yourself holy. You don’t clean yourself up. You don’t get your sins forgiven today. You don’t earn your salvation. You are clean to be indwelt by God. He cleaned you at the cross. Your confession for forgiveness doesn’t do anything except deceive you into thinking you are getting your sins forgiven when you ask God to do it. It is a lie to believe that and to promote that. No one gets their sins forgiven today. For without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness. The Hebrew is saved the same way a Gentile is saved, through faith in Jesus to have done it all at the cross. The New Covenant is for everyone. Get rid of the liars. Quit promoting them. Quit listening to them. And instead allow the Holy Spirit to renew your mind. Come let us reason together says the Lord. We are at that time now. We are after the cross. Listen to the Holy Spirit teach you TRUTH. And from that point forward, always go back to the foundation to verify everything. God was in Christ reconciling the world to himself, not counting man’s sins against them. And He has committed that message to us. Tell people the TRUTH of the word of God.

For if there had been nothing wrong with that first covenant, no place would have been sought for another. But God found fault with the people and said:

“The days are coming, declares the Lord,
when I will make a new covenant
with the people of Israel
and with the people of Judah.
It will not be like the covenant
    I made with their ancestors
when I took them by the hand
to lead them out of Egypt,
because they did not remain faithful to my covenant,
and I turned away from them,
declares the Lord.
This is the covenant I will establish with the people of Israel
after that time, declares the Lord.
I will put my laws in their minds
and write them on their hearts.
I will be their God,
and they will be my people.
No longer will they teach their neighbor,
or say to one another, ‘Know the Lord,’
because they will all know me,
from the least of them to the greatest.
For I will forgive their wickedness
and will remember their sins no more.”

By calling this covenant “new,” he has made the first one obsolete; and what is obsolete and outdated will soon disappear. Hebrews 8:7-13

~ “Now when Christ came his high priest of the good things that are already here, he went through the greater and more perfect tabernacle that is not manmade, that is to say, not part of this creation. He didn’t enter by means of the blood of goats and calves, but he entered the most holy place, once and for all, by his own blood, having obtained eternal redemption, the blood of bulls and goats and the ashes of heifers sprinkled on those who are ceremonially unclean, set them apart, Sanctify them so that they are outwardly clean. We do the same thing and religion don’t do things that make you outwardly clean. Got people down there and teach you and lose your salvation. You got salvation? How’d you get saved? By being baptized. And now I lost it. Well, how do you get resaved? Well come get baptized again. Well, then, hey, you get wait to lose it again. Well come back and get baptized again. What is that? External cleansing. How in the world do you think getting dunked in water is going to cleanse your insides. That’s manmade stuff that stuff man has come up with how much more than say all those things made you outwardly clean how much more than will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself unblemished to God, cleanse our conscience, from Acts that lead to death so that we may serve a living God.” ~ Bob George

Bob George 0:29
It wouldn’t make any difference if I had on a pair. If I added on some clothes that were following off of me falling off me and you were standing there naked, and you needed clothes, it wouldn’t make a difference if I said to you take off those rags and here’s a new coat and came over to you and said here’s a new suit. One of you never had any suit the other one had one took it off and put on a new one. What do you both have? New clothes. People want to make those delineations and distinction on those there isn’t a distinction on it. New is New means something new has been added. Now the first covenant had regulations for worship and also an earthly sense sanctuary said a tabernacle was set up. And verse three behind the second curtain was a room called the Most Holy Place which had a golden altar of incense and the golden covered Ark of the covenant. The ark was contained in the gold jar of manna Aaron staff that had butted and stone tablets of the covenant. And above the ark was the cherubim of him of glory overshadowing the Atonement Cover but we cannot discuss things in detail now said last week near their way right now. When everything had been arranged like this and said the priests entered regularly into the outer room to carry on their ministry. But only the high priest entered the inner room, and that only once a year, and never without blood, which he offered for himself, for the sins of the people had committed in ignorance. The Holy Spirit was showing by this, that the way into the most holy place had not yet been disclosed. As long as the first tabernacle was still standing, be another way we could say today that all of these traditions, think you’re saved by taking communion, all of those things were foreshadowings you’re still under an old rule and old regulation, you’re under a religious system. It’s not real. It says this chapter, verse nine is an illusion. An illustration procured me for the present time, indicating that the gifts and sacrifices being offered, were not able to clear the conscience of the worshiper, you can go through all that rigmarole but isn’t going to clear your conscience. They’re only a matter of food and drink and various ceremonial washings external regulations applying until the time of the what? New Order.

Now when Christ came his high priest of the good things that are already here, he went through the greater and more perfect tabernacle that is not manmade, that is to say, not part of this creation. That’s manmade stuff that stuff man has come up with how much more than say all those things made you outwardly clean how much more than will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself unblemished to God, cleanse our conscience, from Acts that lead to death so that we may serve a living God.

Verse 15. For this reason, Christ is a mediator of a New Covenant, that those who are called might receive the promise eternal inheritance now that he has died as a ransom and set them free from the sins committed under the first covenant. Verse 16, in case of a will it’s necessary to prove of the death of the one who made it because a will is enforced only when someone has died. It never takes effect while the one who made it is living.

Now folks, you and I know that I hope you have a will as I said, if you don’t the state does as one for you. A will is for the purpose of passing on to those that are going to inherit whatever you’re going to leave them and that inheritance cannot be claimed until the one who made it what? Dies. So you may have a will but that will does not go into effect until you die. Now is it possible for a man to have a number of wills until he dies? Can he have a number of wills in other words, can you change his mind a long the way? Well of course he can. Which will goes into effect the day he dies? The last one that is made now if you went into the attorney and sat down and said Now attorney in this last will that dad made didn’t include the Cadillac and and I really think I want that Cadillac. And I’m gonna I want to produce little evidence for you and I want to pull out a will that was made 10 years earlier that it said that Cadillac belongs to me. Now what do you think the attorney would say? Say what? Tough luck. Yeah. Attorney perfectly rightfully so it said Sir, I don’t care what was in that well, 10 years ago. The will that goes into effect your inheritance is determined by the last will nothing else. Yeah, but there aren’t a But No buts to it. The last will is your inheritance period Ya but Dad meant for, I don’t care what dad meant. The Last Will is your inheritance period. Nothing before it Nothing after it, you can refuse it or you can accept it, but you cannot alter it. It has been made, finalized, and the one who made it is dead, and therefore a little tough for him to change it. And impossible for you to change it. You can accept it, or you can reject it. But you cannot alter it.

Now folks, is as far as God is concerned that the dividing line of human history, from God’s vantage point is at the cross of Jesus Christ. That’s where the will was put into effect at the cross of Jesus Christ, it is the total dividing line of human history. It is interesting, isn’t it that even in this world, that is so anti Christ, or all kinds of religion, Christianity, even as it stands, even with all of its apostasy is a very minor religion in the world. And yet our calendars are divided BC and AD isn’t that amazing. And so someone said that history is really his story. That’s what history is his story. And that even our calendars divided history, into half BC before Christ, and AD and Anno Domini and I in the year of our Lord. From God’s vantage point, that’s the way man did it now in our minds we normally think of before Christ is before Christ was born. Don’t wait that’s kind of in our minds that the BC is before the birth of Christ. But from God’s vantage point, the BC is before cross. That’s how he divided time before the cross. And then just said, AD is that Italian word meaning after the cross. And so you’ve got before the cross and after the cross, and from God’s vantage point, that is how he divided human history, before the cross, and after the cross. Now again, there for backing up in case of a will it’s necessary to prove the death of the one who made it because of wills and force only when someone has died, it never takes effect, while the one who made it is living. Now that is why it says even under the first covenant, it was not put into effect without blood. In fact, the law requires that nearly everything be cleansed with blood. And without the shedding of blood, there is how much forgiveness? No forgiveness. Now folks has that ever changed? Without the shedding of blood, there is no forgiveness of sins. There was a sacrifice made in the Garden of Eden. Adam and Eve couldn’t keep themselves warm with fig leaves. And so an innocent animal that had never sinned had to be sacrificed in order to provide the skins to clothe them that’s a picture of today are being clothed in the righteousness of Christ. We have to be close by His provision, not ours. See, we’re walking around with Christian fig leaves on try to close ourselves and our own manmade fig leaves instead of being clothed in what God provided for us. Without the shedding of blood, there is no forgiveness of sins.

Now, folks, we’ve mentioned this before, but it’s worthy of mention again. That’s where all of this confusion has come about in regard to baptism and everything else. John the Baptist came on the scene. Now again, was John the Baptist teaching in the under the old covenant or the new? Which one? Old. Yeah, but he’s in the Gospels. When did the new cabinet take place before the Gospels? I mean, as far as our writing is concerned, how did Christ teach under the Old Covenant or the new? Under the old. When did the new go into effect? When he died. So he taught under the teachings of the Old Covenant, proclaiming the new which was later explained by Paul, Jesus proclaimed it Paul explained it but they taught under the Old Covenant. John the Baptist taught under the Old Covenant. Now all of a sudden, here’s this John the Baptist coming on the scene kind of a weird guy anyway. And, and to people and he came on the scene. He started baptizing people out there for the remission of sins right? Isn’t that right? Repent and be baptized for what? The remission of sins. Can you can you see somebody, the old rabbis walking around there and saying, baptized for the remission of sins? Since when did God change his plan? Without the shedding of blood there is no remission of sins. How can you get your sins forgiven? By getting dunked in water? God hasn’t changed anything. Without the shedding of blood, there is no remission of sins. Never has been, never is never will be and here’s you’re out there saying, Repent and be baptized for the remission of sins. It was like John the Baptist said. No, he said, the one who sent me to baptize told me that the one on whom when I am baptizing you see the dove descend. That’s the Messiah, called the Lamb of God, that will take away the sins of the world. Baptism doesn’t cause remission of sins, I baptized to point out the Messiah, who would be the remission of sins. And the only thing that John’s baptism did was to point people to Jesus, whom he identified as the Messiah based upon what God told him the one you’re baptizing that the dove descends, that is the Messiah. How to John the Baptist identify the Lamb of God, who does what was sins, takes them away, remission of sins, the shedding of His blood, that Messiah, that lamb that you see, right there is the Lamb of God, that’s going to take away the sins of the world. All he was doing was pointing people to the Messiah. There is no dunking in water that could ever forgive your sin. None. Just the blood of Jesus can forgive sins.

Now, it goes ahead to say then, down in, back in, in seven, we’re going to back up just a minute to kind of see how this New Covenant is put into place. The former regulation, that’s the old covenant is set aside. Anything wrong with a former covenant with the former covenant? No, but it was because it was weak and useless for the law. made nothing want? Perfect. Is that true? Now doesn’t man think that the law can make something perfect? I mean, if I get the law strong enough, I get man to behave. Is that true. Now you just get law on top of law on top of law on top of law and on top of law and then you got to come around and interpret that thing. And that’s why you need all the attorneys is to interpret what’s in front of you that you can see but no one knows what it means. So I need someone to interpret it for me. And you get law on top of law on top of law because the law could make nothing perfect. No man could ever go into the presence of God through obedience to the law, because the righteous requirements of the law was such as Jesus explained that if a man violates the least of these my commandments, he’s violated, how many of them? He violated all of them. And that’s not today, folks, that’s from the time you were born to the time you died, you violate all of them. And so for a man to think that he can get right in the sight of God, by obedience to the law is a deceived human being as deceived as someone who says I never sin. And you got people walking around like that. Say, I don’t sin. Mean as a Hornet, but I don’t sin. Well, you don’t even know what sin is. And you gotta realize, if you don’t know what sin is, how in the world could God be living in you, if you don’t know what sin is. God points out sin to you by His Spirit, he’ll point out your lousy attitudes and my lousy attitudes, he points them out to correct them. He points them out to show you Bob, your mind is messed up, let me renew it. And so sin is something that is in all of us. And no man can ever be made perfect, perfect in the sight of God through obedience to the law, because we can’t do it. So what did he do? Well, a better hope is introduced, by which we do what? Draw near to God. Could you draw near to God under the law? Of course not. You go over to Israel, and you stand there at the Wailing Wall. And you see these people standing there well they’re devoted, oh, just whoa, wow, what they’re doing going back and forth, for just oh, you see, when looked at his watch, times not up gonna keep going. What are we doing that for trying to draw near to God, trying to draw near to God, if I can keep doing this, if I can plan to leave myself enough, if I can be sincere enough, if I can pray enough, and I can bow enough and all that I’m maybe I’ll draw nearer to God.

We do that today, in our religious system, where you see all over the place, people coming up with stuff that they’ll need for you to draw near to God. And if you tithe boy you’re really drawn here to God, He loves a tither. God so loved a tither that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him and tithes will have everlasting life loves tithers. So then, oh, he loves loyal church attendance. I mean, if you just if you’ll do that you draw nearer to God. And if you can speak in the language of Angel, boy you’re draw nearer to God, and if you can do this, you draw nearer to God, if you do this, you draw nearer to God, what are all those things? They’re all a bunch of junk, thinking that you can do something to draw nearer to a holy God with sinful flesh. That’s as stupid as thinking that garbage belongs in a refrigerator. You’re gonna have to be wrapped in some heavenly saran wrap to get in there. And that’s what God came to do is to clothe you and me in his righteousness. You and I can’t draw nearer to God, by our own efforts, there’s nothing you can do to draw near to God. And folks, when people get into that mentality and, and and even, you know, and don’t think that can be worked up, we could get bands and singing and swaying and everything else, oh, my God, I got so close to God, the Holy Spirit was so thick, I could cut it with a knife. And then you walk out that door, and your husband says something to you. And that knife slice just alleviated. I don’t know what happened to it one slice, all of a sudden, it’s gone. And the reality is gone. And you’re wondering, what happened. I felt so good in the service. And so I’ll go back to the service again. So I’m feel good and miserable until we get back there. And again, that form of religion, putting a new brand on the bottle continues to entice people to say you want to get close to God, come to the house of God. And we get up and say welcome to the house of God. Is this the house of God? Warehouse, warehouse of God? Is the church building a house of God? Is it? Where’s the house of God? Well, you the house of God It says your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit of God, when Christ came to live within you, he said, You are the body of Christ. So in the house of God, you’re the house of God. But you see what that mentality does, it says, come here and get all the spiritual goosebumps. And we’ll really feed you. And then soon as you walk out here, we recognize you’re gonna be pretty miserable. But that’s okay. You know, it’s kind of like a telephone wires that you gotta gotta hide it sags down. By Wednesday, you’re at the low end, but you’re on your way up Sunday is a company, and you can, and you can get a you can get look forward to the next Sunday. And that’s the mentality is I’m going to draw near to God every Sunday morning. We’re going to be miserable, the minute it’s over, but I’m going to draw nearer to God on Sunday. And then some people have come up to say that sag is so bad by Wednesday, let’s have a Wednesday prayer meeting and jack that thing up a little. So we come up so we kind of got a little shorter little dip and, and so if we can have more places in the house of God, more things going on in the house of God, than just once a week, we can keep everybody kind of jacked up a little bit. Is that where you live your life in the house of God? No. Live your life in the real house of God, and that you, that’s where the Christian life is lived. And so we’re constantly trying to draw nearer to God with religion, and you cannot do it. And he told us we can’t, a better hope is introduced by which we draw near to God and it’s not without an oath. And I went ahead to say that the Lord has sworn and won’t change his mind when he said to Jesus, you’re a priest forever. And he became a guarantee of a what? A better covenant one that is brand new.

Now back to 10. Let’s go down to chapter 10. The law then, is only a shadow of the good things that are coming, not the realities themselves. What then does it say the law is not? A reality. We think it’s a reality. But it’s not. He said it’s a shadow. Not the reality. What is the reality? Christ. Remember in scripture where it says that, that the things that you can’t see are what’s real, and the things you can’t see are gonna disappear. Tell that to a lost person sometime say that guy just lost his mind. Things you can see they’re not real things you can’t see those are real. Okay. Got a beach property in Wyoming. Hey, place it. Now for this reason, because the law is only a shadow, not the reality. It can never the law by the same sacrifices repeated endlessly, year after year, once again, make perfect those who draw near to worship. If it could, would they not have been stopped? In other words, to be made perfect. You see, the reasoning here to be made perfect means you don’t have to do it anymore. It just says that if it could do what? Make things perfect to draw nearer, then would they not have stopped being offered? In other words, if those sacrifices could enable you to draw it near in perfect worship in order to draw near in perfect worship, it would have to be done once and for all. And what keeps a perfect worship from taking place and what makes the sacrifice incomplete is the fact that it has to be done over and over and over again. Because if you can ever do it one time, and let it be final you could draw nearer to God and perfect worship and unless it is you can’t. The worshipers would have been for the worshipers would have been cleansed once and for all and would no longer have felt guilty for their sins. Guilty. You know guilt puts most people in hospital guilt ridden. You can get your sins forgiven today, but if you gotta get them forgiven again tomorrow, how you gonna feel between today and tomorrow? Guilty. What’s that gonna do to you? Well it eats your lunch. Do you realize folks when Christ came to die on the cross once and for all that he came to alleviate guilt in your life? Do you know feeling guilty for a Christian is not an emotion that God wants you to have. Isn’t that amazing? In order to be guilty, what do you have to be? In order to feel guilty? What do you have to be? Guilty. Are you? There’s no condemnation waiting you who belong to Christ says, in order to be guilty, does someone have to pronounce you guilty? Do they? Yeah. Well, if you’re guilty before God who has to pronounce you guilty? God. Is he going to know? Not anymore. Why is that so hard to understand? Because it doesn’t make sense to us on a human level does it? But see, we try to drag God down to our level. We try to bring him down to us that doesn’t make any sense God because then the way we’d treat somebody and after all, if I wouldn’t treat them that way, for sure you wouldn’t. You see the difference between the way man looks at things and the way God looks at things? God is saying here that as long as there is a system, whether it’s the sacrificial system under Hebrewism, or the so called Christian system that we have, as long as forgiveness is not final in your life, you’re going to be guilt ridden, and you’ll never be able to walk into the presence of God in perfect worship. Those sacrifices in our day and age your first John one nines, you’re keeping short accounts with God you’re being sure that your have you’ve cleansed your jar Oh, God said it’s already cleansing something is in it. No, no, I got cleanse it gotta keep it cleansed. As long as that mentality is in your mind, you will never draw nearer to him and perfect worship. It’s that simple.
