Classic Christianity – Book of Hebrews P96 (04-23-24)

It’s The Grace of God That Teaches Us All ~ Jesus is GRACE

~ It is the grace of God that teaches us to say no to ungodliness and worldly passions. Yet there are many people that falsely believe it is the law of God that teaches them instead of the Grace of God. As we have said numerous times, the cross changed the whole world situation forever. God is no longer counting your sins or your neighbor’s sins, or your spouse’s sins, or anyone’s sins against them. And Satan and the fallen angels took advantage of that situation, by enticing the whole world with lies, that sow to the flesh. It is the world that believes in the ongoing forgiveness by God. They think that when they sin, they simply go up to God as a forgiveness vending machine and put in their pardon requests to him, and magically God is going to forgive them. They are not resting in the finality of the cross. Nor do they even understand the finality of the cross. And most that are teaching the lies of Satan today are not saved. For if they were saved, the Holy Spirit would quickly correct them, train them, discipline them in the word of God. People get angry when you tell them that God is not counting their sins against them. They get angry when you tell them, sure they can do anything they want, but it is not profitable for them to do everything they want. They hear the first part, and close their ears to the second part of the word of God. But the bottom line is that it is the Grace of God, Jesus, that teaches us to say No to those things that are not constructive for us. Furthermore, they have no idea that the Holy Spirit talks to us today, in a message of Grace, not a message of condemnation. For most of them are still dead in their unbelief, and would rather live by the law of God than the grace of God.

~ “I have the right to do anything,” you say—but not everything is beneficial. “I have the right to do anything"—but not everything is constructive." 1 Corinthians 10:23
~ For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, while we wait for the blessed hope—the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good. Titus 2:11-14

Pray to God:
“Lord Jesus, teach me the truth of the world today. Thank you God.”

~ “There’s all kinds of things that where we don’t count the costs. And I’m not saying that critically, I’m saying that that that happens to all of us. It’s one of those things where we’re almost blinded to repercussions. But in this life, there are repercussions. The beauty that we have under the grace of God is there’s no repercussions from God. And that’s where so many times people misunderstand the teaching of the grace of God. And they take that, as they say, as a license. But the fact of the matter is, there’s a dual thing that we’re living in, from God’s vantage point, the things that I’ve screwed up with and you’ve screwed up with in your life, God looks down on those and says forgiven, that was forgiven at the cross there behind my back never to see it again. It is in the doing of that in the presentation of that is what enables you and me to be free to look forward to that blessed event of being able to go into His presence someday and seeing him as he is and becoming like him. And it is also the thing that frees you and me here on this earth to begin to think through the consequences of our actions. Because because even though there is no condemnation awaiting those who belong to Christ Jesus, in other words, there’s not God is not going to condemn you for anything. It’s strange, isn’t it and how many times we get Have you heard people say You mean to tell me that if a Christian went out and murdered somebody, that he would go to heaven? If any of you ever asked that question, it’s amazing how you always use things like murder, which probably you’re not gonna do, you know, you always use those. But again, how cleverly Jesus waded through that kind of garbage thinking, by saying, I say unto you, if you’re angry at somebody you’ve already committed murder. And so you would ask, is there anyone sitting in this room that has never murdered anyone? As far as God is concerned? And see, we don’t want to think along that lines. We say no, Bob that Yeah. Well, you’re gonna talk to Jesus about that. Now, Bob, Because I didn’t say that. I wouldn’t have dared say something like that. But is that true? From God’s vantage point? Is it true? Is it from God’s vantage point? Is it just as bad to go out and get angry at someone as it is to murder someone? According to him, same thing. According to God, oh, I don’t commit adultery. Jesus came along and said, if you look at a woman with lust in your heart, you’ve already committed adultery.” ~ Bob George

And so that’s a hope. Now when it talks about them and Titus about how the grace of God that teaches us as we wait for this blessed hope. I believe that there is something in the understanding of the grace of God today that has been shed abroad in our hearts today. The thing that helps us to get through our life today knowing who we are in Christ and coming to grips with our identity in Christ, but also that added dimension of realizing that we are someday going to be absent from this body and present with the Lord. And that our mindset is not only on today, but our mindset also needs to be on this thing tomorrow. And guys that sometimes is what ties into I believe a mindset In regard to the way in which we conduct our lives. Many times, we live just for the present, don’t we? And we live for that good old feeling. Many times in our lives, we are constantly doing things and engaging in things that seem right on demand. But there is destruction within. It’s like kind of poisoning somebody with just a bit of arsenic every day. They never know they’re getting arsenic. Nobody ever took their first drink. With the idea boy I sure hope I’m become an alcoholic someday. No one ever smoked their first marijuana cigarette with the idea oh man I hope I can become a drug addict someday, live down the slums. Prostitute myself, whatever it takes to support that habit, man, I hope I do that. No one ever goes to a doctor with the idea that I’m a little nervous or have little anxiety and get put on a prescription drug with the idea that boy I sure hope I become an addict can get addicted to that stuff someday. Nobody. No one ever comes and stands before a minister or whoever else you do to get married saying, Oh, I hope I get divorced someday. And no one ever brings kids into the world with the idea Gee, I hope that there’ll be fatherless or motherless someday. It’s one of those things that we always enter into things of life with the greatest of intentions, but many times totally naive. And in this world, so many times we don’t think through what’s going to happen out there. I don’t mean in visualization. But I’m talking about the fact that there are natural repercussions to life. And many times we forget about those natural repercussions and in our decision making processes, instead of, of in light of the decision is what is that going to do? You see, nobody has to be a genius, just to have been alive for a while to realize that we’re made up our bodies are made up or essential. You don’t have to be a genius to figure out that it feels good. There are things that feel good, feels good to have sexual relation. I don’t have to figure that that that feels good. The issue is, when you’re doing those things out of wedlock and out of marriage, when we’re involved in those things, and you’re married in an adulterous type relationship, the issue is, what is that going to do to my family? What is that going to do to my kids, I might go over here and have this little relationship over here. And it seems like a little bit of a fling. But what if I fall in love and all of a sudden, a family’s broken up. There’s all kinds of things that where we don’t count the costs. Jesus came along and said, if you look at a woman with lust in your heart, you’ve already committed adultery. Now, is there anyone that’s going to? And that would, that would apply for women as well? Because is there anyone is gonna sit there and say, I’ve never committed adultery? So again, from God’s vantage point, that’s how he looks at it. In other words, God looks on the heart. And so when we see that, is there anyone that can stand around and say, Oh, I’m a righteous dude. I can hardly wait to go in the presence God, show him how righteous I’ve been. I don’t think so. The only thing we’re gonna be able to do, and we go into the presence of God is to receive mercy, and to say, Thank You, Lord Jesus, for your mercy. But you see that mercy was extended to us at the cross. And that’s where God who knew no sin became sin for you and me, so that in Christ, we could become something that we are not. And that’s the righteousness of God, that God was in Christ doing all of that for us, that we were reconciled to God through Christ Jesus once and for all, God was in Christ reconciling the world unto himself, absolutely not counting your sins against you. But there is therefore now no condemnation waiting those who belong to Christ Jesus. So from God’s vantage point, we’re looking at something that is marvelous news. And that is, from God’s vantage point, you and I who are in Christ whenever the zapped. If you’re out of Christ, we’ve already been zapped the wages as soon as one death and all men are dead. So it isn’t the case of God’s gonna lay something on me. We were born with it laid on us. We’re born dead, and the only solution to death is life. So the condemnation for sin was just universal, its spiritual death, the only solution to sin is what? eternal life. And that life is a blessing hope that you and I have now with that out of the way, and to be able to realize that from God’s vantage point, this is how he deals with you and me, he has dealt with us in regard to the sin issue. Now, that is what now frees him to deal with us now on this issue down here on life not with condemnation, but with teaching, and with instruction, and with admonishment, and with being able to enable us to get beyond the immediate feel good into the repercussions of life.

Now, are there repercussions to sin down here? I mean, are there, but you bet you go out and you practice homosexuality long enough, you’re probably going to be a real good candidate for AIDS. And in this day, and age, you go out and practice any kind of promiscuity, you’re probably in a real good candidacy for AIDS. So some are going to get the repercussions gonna be there and some is not. You go out and engage in drinking too much. Is there a possibility of becoming addicted to alcohol? Yes, there is. Is that a real desirable thing? Again, I don’t think any of us wakeups you know, like I said, say a boy sure hope I can do this. And so, so in all of these things, there are repercussions. Now, the world is established and set out there to deceive, man. That’s why we sell so much merchandise, it’s based on deception. That’s what the ad was a lure. Remember the ad that was there. A lure is based on the principle of what? deception and again, if any fish thought that was a lawyer, they’d be an idiot to chow down on that, because they’re going to end up someone’s frying pan. That’s what a lure does. It lures you and traps you. Life does the same thing. And we’re sitting ducks for that type of thing unless, unless we can have our minds renewed. And the only thing that frees our minds to think through those things is coming to grips with the finality of what Christ has done. And now says, Bob, here’s how we live down here. Not that you have to are all things permissible. As a child of God, is it permissible to go get smashed out of your mind? Yeah. Is it profitable? No, it is not. And it causes us now to think ahead. So when we’re talking about this thing that we’ve got, faith is what I walk in right now trusting God for today, the hope is what I know is going to occur. But one of these days, I’m going to go into the presence of God. And so in the meantime, between where I know I’m going, I can walk by faith in what he’s saying. And when I do, I’m going to find my life to be running much more smoothly. I’m going to find much less complications, when we just open up the Word of God, and to follow it not because we have to, not legalistically but because it’s the most intelligent thing to do as a child of the living God. It’s talks about things like in the scripture that if you’re angry with your mate, straighten it out for you go to bed. Now, do you have to do that? I mean, do you sit there on a couch? legalistically soon, okay, I’m sorry. Now, Satan will get on my back won’t have a bad dreams. Is that the way that thing works? No. No, it says, Well, do you plan on staying married? I mean, is this is this a lifetime deal? Well, then why don’t you straight the thing out? When you’re dealing in marriage, divorce isn’t an option. So let’s straighten out our problem. That’s not an option. Let’s just straight and let’s let’s go to work and straighten out what we’re doing. How come? Well, it’s profitable. Is it permissible to do the other? Is it profitable? No, it isn’t.

Bob George 13:59
We ran into a situation we have people right now this group come to a conference. Got their kids on Ritalin, they themselves on Prozac and everything else under the sun. And you stand there and watch the effects of that as somebody goes bananas in front of your eyes acting like a total idiot. Well, did they go to the doctor with the idea here take these will make you act like an idiot? I don’t think so. It’s just a bite at a time just how to eat an elephant? A bite at a time. How do you destroy your life? A bite of the time a bite of the time. We come and the Lord Jesus Christ says about things like anxiety and that’s what we get all upset. I got anxiety I got these anxiety attacks I’ve got what is Jesus? Does Jesus talk about anxiety? Or is Freud the only one ever talked about it? Does Jesus talk about anxiety? Or doesn’t he? What does he say about anxiety? He says, Don’t be anxious for how much for anything. Got your kids today with people that don’t want to put up with anybody, and we’re trying to make little robots out of them, so everybody’s acting the same way. And you get a kid at squirming. Like that’s unusual. And so we need to put them on a little Rattlin you get a kid who’s concentration span and what ought to be. Whose is? And so we did a little medication for them, and before long you got everybody drugged up. Anxiety. What’s Jesus say about that? Says don’t be anxious for what? Anything but in all things, what? With prayer, supplication, thanksgiving, let your requests be known onto God, folks, that isn’t something to do. That’s a result of a trust. You see, we even look at that in the wrong way. Oh, if I do this, Nah, no, the prayer and supplication Thanksgiving is not I do something in order to bring about. It’s because I already trust the Lord Jesus Christ to do what he says he’ll do is the reason I came with prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let my request be don’t because I know he’s already got the answer on the way. And then he says, The peace of God that passes all understanding, and man’s out scrambling for the peace of a pill, instead of the peace of God. And the reason it tears my guts up inside is I see Christians I see people right in this room, that have chosen to take the path of Eli Lilly instead of the Lamb of God. Repercussions from God on that? No. Condemnation for you? No, no, Natural repercussions? Sure will be. Whatever you and I depend upon for meaning and purpose to life, that thing will control you. And if I have to depend upon something, if when I’m depending upon the Lord Jesus Christ, for my meaning and my purpose to life, that’s how the Spirit of God controls me. In the control comes as a result of our dependency upon. So the more that I’m trusting the Lord and understand his trustworthiness, and again, guys turned down to this passage in Hebrews in again back in 11:11, which is the key this whole thing By faith Abraham, even though he was past age, and Sara herself was barren, was enabled to become a father. How come? Because he considered him Christ faithful, who made the promise. That’s what faith is. Faith is being believing he is faithful to complete the work that he began in you.

See, folks we live in this day of instant everything. And and we, you know, we have a little depression and boy, that’s just terrible. We’re not supposed to be depressed. Somebody has said a standard. Man’s never supposed to be depressed. He’s always supposed to be happy. He’s always supposed to be suntanned. He’s always supposed to be this. He’s always supposed to be this. And anytime something just comes along, where that little thing is broken, who something’s wrong. Isn’t it strange that we’ve allowed a mentality to penetrate our being that says everything is supposed to be okay? And anything that is not okay is abnormal. When Jesus said in this world, you’re going to have tribulation, that is what is normal and when you’re not, that’s what’s abnormal. If you’re not having trials and tribulation, something’s wrong. And we keep looking at it at the very opposite way that I’m supposed to have this uninterrupted and therefore we’re all little victims because I wasn’t treated right and and I was spoken to not quite as nicely as I should have When I was growing up, and I’m this poor little victim that is walking on this earth as a little victim, instead of listening to what Christ said, when he said in this world you’re going to have tribulation and a part of that is going to be at you’re not going to be raised possibly the way that you would like to be. That you’re not everything is going to be perfect that your wife isn’t going to be waking up every morning and saying, sweetie, can I bring you some coffee? And go to bed? I’ll do that as soon as I pick up your underwear and your socks and everything. You know, that sounds so good that just is not going to occur. And we have the idea that everything’s supposed to be perfect so that when bad things happen I gotta rush to someone to find out why I’m not happy and the reason I’m not happy is because what all of this poor evil world is doing too little wonderful me now. Makes you just sick what is taking place in this world today. And so we live in this day and age of instant everything where I have to have instant gratification I have to have instant relief I I mean, boy, if I’m a little depressed, you know, you know people call and say oh my my teenagers depressed, all of them are. That’s part of growing up. I don’t mean to take those things lightly. But many times, it’s just because of a search for love. Then we’d go out and try to find something humanistic to fulfill that search for love, instead of communicating the truth of the love of God. So we live in a day and age where where we’re walking not by faith in Christ Jesus not by faith in the fact that you’ve got a God that is faithful and consider him faithful. He made a promise consider Him who made the promise faithful. And so that when we run into those things of life and we run into the anxieties we know how to cope with them.

First day we got the Florida here’s this gorgeous beach, beautiful ocean marvelous weather. Not like it had here rain here every day. It was sunshine every day. Marvelous. I was grumpy. I was grumpy, irritable, yeah, they’re in Florida in paradise. That happened to me first time I went to why I said, How could you be a grumpy Hawaiian? But they’re all over the place. Because the sea we get the idea that if I could just get in some place that’s nice. I just be so nice. And I found myself I was feeling down the dumps you know we had had a great high there the Chesapeake Bay and, and wonderful time with everybody. And then then here you are just stuck in this Florida with sand and sunshine and, and all that stuff and grumpy inside. Now I want to tell you something, had I continued to allow that mindset to continue and kept camping on that. I would have been miserable for two weeks. And I had to come to grips with the fact that the reason I was feeling grumpy is because I was thinking grumpy thoughts. And the reason that I was feeling depressed is because I was thinking depressing thoughts. And the reason I was feeling upset was because I was thinking upsetting thoughts. Now you see, when we understand that the very it’s a very simple thing to change the way you feel, isn’t it? What do you do? Go take a pill so you can feel nothing or change your thinking? Because your feelings are going to follow exactly whatever you’re putting in your mind. We’re designed by God that way that our feelings follow thought. And so it’s getting your eyes off of your own selfish things that I was thinking about getting my eyes off of my little inconveniences or whatever it might be and to correct it with truth and what happens? Well you don’t feel grumpy anymore.

Guys, it doesn’t make a difference whether you’re talking about drugs, alcohol, promiscuity, whatever else you want to talk about, you just list a whole list of stance it doesn’t matter. The root of all sin is unbelief. That’s the root of it. For the Lord Jesus Christ said that the world’s sin is unbelief in me. And all that sin is, is just saying, I know better than God. Oh, we’re believing this lie that comes from Satan saying instant feel good. His happiness instead of doing what is talked about, and that is considering him faithful, who had made a promise to you and me. There’s not a person in this room, it’s probably sitting without some sort of a problem might be economic, personal, children, marriage, singleness. Doesn’t make a difference what it is. Here comes down to a point when we’re going to have to say not just I trust the Lord. But if you entrust him in trust to him, that thing that is bugging us. Doesn’t do a good Assaf trust the Lord. Trusting for what? Well to complete the work that he began in? Yeah, yeah. Cause all things work together for good to those who love him are called according to His purpose? Yes. Do you trust him for that? Yeah. Well then entrust the problem to entrust your problem to him. And he said, The peace of God that passes all understanding, will quiet and your heart and your mind in Christ Jesus.
