Classic Christianity – The Book of John P75 (07-26-23)

When You Teach the Truth About Jesus, The World Will Hate You

~ Teaching the truth about Jesus and forgiveness will get you thrown out of churches today. Why? Because Jesus told us, “if they hate you it is because they hated me first.” By in-large, most people will not accept the things of God. Why? Because they love themselves more than they love God. They would rather listen to the teaching of men than listen to the teaching of the Holy Spirit. They love things of the world more than they love God. They love the praises of men, more than they love God. They love their education of the world, more than they love God. They refuse to come to the Spirit of Truth for truth, for All truth, and instead rely on their own understanding of things to make the determination of whether they are even saved or not. Satan doesn’t want a person to go to the word of God and have the Holy Spirit show a person all truth. Satan wants to maintain the deception and the people are only too happy to comply because they love the world. They will not exercise faith in the word of God and would rather believe the lies.

~ “If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first.” John 15:18

~ “Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them.” 1 John 2:15

~ for they loved human praise more than praise from God.
John 12:43

~ Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6

~ “Stop to think about what is there about Jesus to hate? He loved people, he forgave people. You hate someone that when a woman is caught in adultery, he looked down and do something in the sand said if you’re without sin cast the first stone stone this woman to death of year without sin. Everybody dropped their stones. Mamm, where are your accusers? They’re all gone. Well, neither do I accuse you get up and sin no more. What is your about to hate about someone doing something like that? Someone going and seeing a man who was blind from birth and making them see, what is sort of hate about this person? A person who’s in a grave and says Lazarus come forth and out he comes. What is there to hate about someone doing something like that? Say why do people hate Jesus? Because he calls truth Truth. The world unlike truth, we’ll believe anything except the truth. We like error. We like lies. And Jesus stands up for what is true. So they hated him without reason.

But he said, now he’s talking to us, just talking to His disciples, all those things applicable but now he’s going to be talking about us. When the Counselor comes. That’s the Holy Spirit that I’m going to send to live in you, whom I will send to you from the Father. The Counselor is called the Spirit of Truth. He goes out from the father, he’s an extension of the Father, the Holy Spirit of God is an extension of Jesus. He is truth, just as Jesus is truth. He said, he’s going to testify about Me. The role of the Holy Spirit of God is to bring honor to Jesus, not to himself. The role of the Holy Spirit of God, he said, is to testify about Jesus. And then he said to them, as well as to us. And you also must testify. Why? Because you have been with me from the beginning. Now there, he’s talking to his disciples, His apostles, you’ve been with me from the beginning. It’s your job now to go into communicate to the world what I have communicated to you, does that eliminate us? Or is he also saying to us, that you who have been with him since your beginning of new birth, that you too, should testify about Jesus, just as the Holy Spirit is doing. All of this, he said, I’ve told you so that you will not go astray. He’s not saying these things to us, guys, to hamper us. But he’s saying, I’m saying these things to you so that you will not go astray. To the disciples, he said, they’re going to put you out of the synagogue. Some of you have been put out of your churches. How many of you have been put out of your church because of starting to teach something about the grace of God, anybody in the room here? A few of you. There’s not many here, because you’ve been here most of the time. I will tell you across the United States, its massive.” ~ Bob George

So everything that our flesh is telling us to do is to harm us. And boy, do we listen to that flesh. Sacrifice doesn’t listen to the flesh. Sacrifice says there’s a job to do and I’m gonna go do it. There’s a fire to put out I’m gonna go put it out. There’s somebody to be reached, I’m gonna go reach them. There’s people to be discipled I’m gonna go disciple them. I’d rather go play golf. Or I’d rather go do this. Sacrifice says no. There’s people to be reached. And that’s why there’s a lot more important things to do in this world than just what satisfies our flesh isn’t there?

The Father will give you whatever you asking by name and this is my command. Love one another. Now If the world hates you keep in mind that it hated me first. And guys want to do something. If you’re out in the marketplace of life, if you’re out among non Christians, and you’re out expressing Christian truths. Oh, there’s nothing wrong with that. And you know, I, I kind of have faith in the Big Boy upstairs, you know, heard the big boy upstairs in your head, no. Use the name Jesus, it gags you if you don’t know him. But uh, gags other people when they hear it who don’t know him. You’re gonna find it out in the world, when you stand up for what Jesus says is true when you call a spade a spade so to speak. When you call sin a sin, when you call worry, a sin, not a healthy concern. Or homosexuality, a sin not an alternate lifestyle. Or you call adultery sin, not just satisfying some needs. You’re not going to be very popular with the world. Because the world doesn’t believe in standards. The world believes that everything is relative. There are no absolutes in the world. So let’s not come up with this absolute sin stuff. Everything’s relative, it just kind of depends on things. And so you stand up as a person and you voice your viewpoint. And you call things what God calls them. You’re gonna be about as popular as the Titanic sinking. But you’re not running for sheriff anyway. Are you? And if you’re are, you’re you shouldn’t be a Christian because you’re not gonna get elected. We have to realize the world hates truth. Why? Because the world is under the control of the author of lies, Satan. And he hates truth. He doesn’t want truth ever to get through to you or to me. Now, if you belong to the world, the world would love you as their own. When your lost world loves you, I know that my own life when I was lost all my lost buddies used to love to go out and drink together, have fun together. The very moment I came to Christ, I don’t know what happened to me. You say, Oh, I’m gonna have to give up all my friends. No, you’re not, they’re gonna give you up. They don’t want to be around you anymore. If you’re saying I’m a Christian, you don’t have to worry about giving up a thing. They’ll get rid of you. Nobody wants to be around me anymore. That’s when I discovered there were coffee shops in LA. Didn’t know there was one till I was saved. Why? Well, because I wasn’t gonna go to the bar. So I had to go to the coffee shop by myself and drink coffee. Till you got some new friends. If you belong to the world, they would accept you, the world will accept you. As it is, you don’t belong to the world. Are you in Christ? Then you are in the world. But you are not of the world. Is that right or wrong guys? How many of us want to be in Christ and blend into the world at the same time? How many of us have the attitudes of the world in us just strong as horseradish? Instead of realizing God told me to be in it, but not all of it. You don’t belong to this world. This world does not belong to you. But Jesus said, I’ve chosen you to come out of this world. You’re in it, but you’re not all of it. Guys, it’s like a ship, a ship is in it. And that’s fine. But if it becomes of it, you’re in trouble. And that’s why the world hates you. How many of you have ever experienced rejection from lost people? Who were they rejecting you or Jesus that you represented? The Jesus that you represented. That’s why the world hates us because I hate him.

He said remember the words I spoke to you. No servant is greater than his master. Are you a servant to Jesus? Or are you a master of Jesus? If you’re your servant, then you’re not greater than Him. And you say well, that’s okay Jesus for you to go down wash people’s feet but not me. It’s okay for you to live a sacrificial life but not me. It’s okay Jesus for you to do these things, but not me. I got better things to do. I got some entertainment stuff I need done. I need to feed my flesh, I need comfort. How much comfort did the apostles have? The latter days of Paul’s life, he wrote, please send me my cloak, I’m cold, didn’t even have a cloak to put around him. No servant is greater than his master. If they persecuted me, they’ll persecute you also. Have you ever been persecuted? If they obeyed my teaching, they will obey yours as well. Because your teaching should be his teaching. They’re going to treat you this way because of my name because of who you represent who you say I believe in, Jesus. It says you’re gonna get treated a certain way. They don’t know the one who sent me. We claim we know God, but everybody claims to know God. The Buddha’s claim to know God, the Muslims claim to know God, the Mormons claim they know God, all these people claim to know God. But I don’t know where they’re finding him. Because it’s not the God it’s in the Bible. It’s not the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. It’s not the God who came to this earth, in the beginning was the Word, the Word was with God, and the Word was God. And the word God became flesh and dwelt among us as the only begotten Son of the Father full of grace and of truth, that’s God. They don’t know him. Jesus said, had I not come and spoken to them speaking of the Hebrew religious leaders, and basically he’s talking to his disciples, who were in the Hebrew world and with the Hebrew leaders. I spoke to them had I not come and done that they wouldn’t be guilty of their sin of the rejection of me, what is the world’s sin? Unbelief in Jesus. Had I not come and spoken to them, they would not be guilty of that sin. The only sin attributed oh man, the rejection of Christ. But he said, I came and spoke to them. Now, however, they have no excuse for their sin. He who hates me hates my Father as well. That’s why they say oh, we worship the Father. He said, No, if you worship the Father, you worship Me, because he’s he spoke about me. If I had not done among them what no one else had ever done. He said, the miracles that I did, being raised from the dead, raising Lazarus from the dead, turning the water in the wine, had I not done these things in front of them what no one else has ever done. They wouldn’t be guilty of their sin. But I’ve done these things to prove who I am. And they still rejected the Son of God. But now that they’ve seen these miracles, and yet they have hated both me and my Father, the one who did the miracles, in essence to me, but he said all of this is to fulfill what was written in their law. They hated me without reason.

Stop to think about what is there about Jesus to hate? He loved people, he forgave people. You hate someone that when a woman is caught in adultery, he looked down and do something in the sand said if you’re without sin cast the first stone stone this woman to death of year without sin. Everybody dropped their stones. Mamm, where are your accusers? They’re all gone. Well, neither do I accuse you get up and sin no more. You go in and start teaching the fullness of God’s grace and they look at you like he came from another planet. So he said, you’re going to be pulled out of the synagogue. In fact, the time is coming when anyone who kills you will think he’s offering a service to God. You have that today among the Muslims. Kill a Christian you’re doing a service to God kill a Jew, you’re doing a service to God. That’s a funny God and strange god that people would have. Who would believe that type of thing.

They’ll do such things because they have not known the Father or me they don’t know who God is. They have their own god they’ve manufactured their own they don’t know the true God, nor do they know me. Now Jesus said I’ve told you this so that when the time comes you will remember that I warned you in other words, I don’t want you to live with unrealistic expectation I want you to know truth because it’s gonna hit and when it hits I want you to know I’ve told you so. So what you’re not going to be surprised. When Jesus says in this world, you’re going to have tribulation you shouldn’t be shocked when you have tribulation should you? Is anyone shocked when they get tribulation? If you aren’t, you shouldn’t be Jesus already said you’re going to have it it’s not if it’s just when if you haven’t had it yet just wait. It’s a common. I warned you, He said. I did not tell you this at first because I was with you. I didn’t need to tell you this. Because I would have been there as you go through tribulation but I’m going away. Okay. And when that tribulation comes, I want you to understand something. I’ll never leave you nor forsake you. I’m here with you. And my love will never leave you. That’s on this side. Now, he said, I’m going to Him who sent Me. And yet none of you asked, Where are you going? Because I’ve said these things, you’re filled with grief. But I tell you, truth is good for you that I am going away. Because unless I do go, the Counselor, the Holy Spirit will not come to you. But if I go, I will send him to you.

Folks, I want to back up for just a moment. If you’ll turn back with me to the 13th chapter of Matthew, 13th chapter of Matthew. It says, On the same day, Jesus went out of the house and he sat by the lake. And such large crowds gathered around him that he got into a boat and sat in it were all the people stood on the shore. And then He told them many things in parables, saying a farmer went out to sow his seed. And as he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path and the birds came and ate it up. Some fell on rocky places, where I did not have much soil. It sprang up quickly because the soil was shallow. But when the sun came up, the plants were scorched, and they withered because they had no root. Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up and choked the plants. Still, Other seed fell on good soil. Well, it produced a crop 100 fold 60, 30 times as much as it was sown, and he has ears let him listen. The disciples came to him and said, Why do you speak to people in parables? He replied, the knowledge of the secret of the Kingdom of Heaven has been given to you, but not to them. Whoever has will be given more, and will be given in abundance. Whoever does not have even what he does have will be taken from him. And that’s why I speak to them in parables. Though seeing they do not see, though hearing they do not hear or understand. You can see something and not know what you see. You can hear something and not comprehend what you’re hearing. In them is fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah you will ever be hearing but never understanding. You will never be seeing but never perceiving. What is the root problem of all this guy’s? These people’s hearts have become calloused. Our hearts have become calloused. They hardly hear with their ears, and they’ve closed their eyes. Otherwise, they might see with their eyes and hear with their ears and understand with your heart. The heart is where understanding takes place. That’s what God has to change in us to give us the ability to understand the meaning of the word of God. And turn and I would heal them. But he said blessed are your eyes because they do see and your ears because they hear. For I tell you the truth, many prophets and righteous men longed to see what you see, but did not see it and to hear what you hear but did not hear it.

Now we’re going to have four areas here of receiving the Word of God. Number one, listen to what the parable of the sower means, not what it says. Listen to what it means. Anyone who hears the message about the kingdom and does not understand it. Anyone who hears the message, but you don’t understand it. The evil one comes and snatches away what was sown in his heart. This is the seed sown among the path. The one who received the seed that fell on rocky places, is a man who hears the word and at once receives it with joy. But he doesn’t have any root. And they last only a short period of time when trouble or persecution comes because of the word. Now guys, you can hear and you can believe and not be saved. Do you understand that? Remember what Jesus said they saw the miracles I did. And they believed in my name, but I did not entrust myself to them. Because I know man and I do not need the testimony of man concerning man. What haven’t you done when you say you believe? Put faith in it. You see there’s I believe it And then there’s the next step. I put faith in it. I believe that chair will hold me. When do I put faith in it? When I sit in the chair, that’s when I know I have put faith in what I say I believe that chair will hold me.

There’s a story of a guy who went across Niagara Falls on one of these wires on his bicycle. Went over and back across Niagara Falls, no net underneath him. Right on a bicycle on this little wire. Man, people went berserk. They clapped greatest thing I’ve ever seen in my life. He then said, How many of you think I could go over ride over there with someone ride on the handlebars? Well, everybody said, sure you can I believe that. He said, Who wants to volunteer? There were no volunteers. You see, I can say that I believe something. But I have not put my faith in something. And there are many people who believe in Jesus. I believed in Jesus for 36 years of my life but was never saved. Did I believe that Jesus existed? Absolutely. Beat up my fraternity brother one time he said he didn’t. That’s how determined I was with that. Great spirituality. Did I believe Jesus was raised from the dead? Yep, sure did. Did I believe that Jesus healed the blind? Yeah, sure did. I believe he made the deaf to hear. Yep, sure. They believed all those stories. I believe Lincoln was killed the Ford theater, yep believed that one, too. I believed all those historical truths. To me those were historical truths reality believed it. Absolutely believe it was on my heart was I saved? No. Had I put faith in that that he died for me? No. Did I put faith in the fact that he was raised for me? No. Did I put any faith that anything he did that he did that for me for my benefit? No, not not, not one time. Not until I was saved at age 36. And that’s when I heard that Jesus died for me. And Jesus was raised, so that I could have life and I put my faith in the fact that Lord, if you did that for me, that I want you to come into my heart and be my Lord and Savior. Now that’s faith. And so there are many people who say, I believe in a historical event, but have never put faith to this and their life the person who received the word with joy, I’ve seen that. I saw that many times in a church setting where I was where young people would come down. And man, they were so enthusiastic, even go out telling people about Jesus, and a year later, could have cared less about him. Why? Well, they believe something. And that was exciting for them. But they had never put their faith in the fact that Jesus did that for me. You know, we’re always here and message and nudge nudge in our neighbor. Did you hear that? Well, it wasn’t for them it was for you. And until you personalize the gospel, you don’t have Jesus yet. You’re like this person who received it with joy but he didn’t have any root. And it lasts only a short time and when traveling persecution hit you to forget him in a New York minute. Turn to something else. Got trials tribulations turn to Eli Lilly, turn to anybody. Secular counselor where it says don’t seek the counsel of the ungodly. I don’t care what it says brother. I’m in trouble. Let me let me go talk to somebody that know the Lord from an apple tree. See if he can give me some good advice. He will give you good advice rotten apples. When trouble and persecution comes, you fall away.

The one who received the word that fell among the thorns is a man who hears the word but the worries of his life and the deceitfulness of wealth choke it, making it unfruitful. I’m counting on my money, counting on my salary. I’m counting on those kinds of things, the deceitfulness of wealth. Because wealth can be deceitful guys. Wealth is fine as long as you’re trusting the Lord. But if you’re trusting your wealth, you’re in trouble. But the one who receives the seed that fell on the good soil is the man who hears the word. And he understands it. How does he understand it? The Spirit of God, he’s relying upon it. He produces a crop yielding 100, 60, 30 times what is sold. Now Jesus was saying to us that you can hear, and but you don’t receive. You can hear, and you can receive. But the issue is, have you heard what the gospel is? And have you internalize the gospel? Are you indwelt by Jesus? Or is it still just a historical fact that you’ve acknowledged? Or have you really come to know, Christ Jesus? To know that at the end of your life, that you are going to go into the presence of God, absent from the body, and immediately present with the Lord? And when you stand in front of God, and he says, What have you done to deserve to get here? Your answer is nothing except accepting your Son. And he says, Welcome, good and faithful servant. You can hear but if you haven’t applied faith, you’re a hearer of the word, but not a doer of the word. And that’s what this passage is saying to us is check yourself in a faith. Have you just heard? Or have you applied faith? If Christ Jesus is alive living in you, then he is your master, and you are a servant. But you also are a friend who knows listening to the voice of God that says, to love one another, and to go out and bear fruit and to do so sacrificially.
