Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at The Reality of The Resurrection P8 (12-01-21)

Who is Going to Determine What is Right and Wrong? God or man?

Man is still trying to determine what is right and wrong in their own eyes today. People justify their own actions by saying to God, “I don’t need you God, I can determine right from wrong myself. God, you don’t know what you are talking about. This is just an alternative lifestyle, and is not sin.” Yet the word of God tells us that no one is righteous. No one does good. They do what is right in their own eyes.

Romans 3:10-12
10As it is written:
“There is no one righteous, not even one;
11 there is no one who understands;
there is no one who seeks God.
12 All have turned away,
they have together become worthless;
there is no one who does good,
not even one.”

The Counsellor of God has been sent to us. The Holy Spirit is our Counsellor. When we repent of our sin of unbelief and accept Jesus, the Holy Spirit comes to give us life. He gives us eternal life. Then the Holy Spirit helps us in our understanding of scriptures too.

John 16:7-11
7 But very truly I tell you, it is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Advocate will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you. 8 When he comes, he will prove the world to be in the wrong about sin and righteousness and judgment: 9 about sin, because people do not believe in me; 10 about righteousness, because I am going to the Father, where you can see me no longer; 11 and about judgment, because the prince of this world now stands condemned.

The Holy Spirit convinces the world three things; sin, righteousness and judgement. Sin is unbelief in Jesus. This is the root of all sin. Righteousness is showing that He alone is the righteous one. Only God is righteous. Man doesn’t have any righteousness in and of himself. Jesus is our righteousness. And, in regards to judgement because the devil now stands condemned and the devil will continue doing what he has done since the garden of Eden (trying to convince you that you know better than God).

John 16:12-15
12 “I have much more to say to you, more than you can now bear. 13 But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. 14 He will glorify me because it is from me that he will receive what he will make known to you. 15 All that belongs to the Father is mine. That is why I said the Spirit will receive from me what he will make known to you.”

The Holy Spirit will guide you on all truth. The Holy Spirit does not speak for Himself. The Holy Spirit speaks what is from Jesus. The Holy Spirit gave the Apostles the promises of was yet to come. Now we are given the same Holy Spirit and the word of God to make known what has come. The Holy Spirit testified that Jesus came and that He will live in you.

Philippians 3:8-9
8 What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them garbage, that I may gain Christ 9 and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in a Christ—the righteousness that comes from God on the basis of faith.

It’s important to understand that we need to change our mind in regards to our spiritual destiny. We have to change our mind (repentance) in regards to Jesus. We have to realize that I can’t do anything to save myself. I can’t be good enough. I can’t be righteous enough. Repentance requires a complete end of self and to place our faith in Jesus and what He did on the cross.

Righteousness needs to come from God. Our own righteousness is as filthy rags. Only the righteousness of Jesus will do. The Apostle Paul considered everything else as dung compared to knowing Jesus.

So, there is only One that is righteous and Jesus has become our righteousness. If you have not made Jesus your righteousness today, we encourage you to accept Jesus by faith. He forgave all your sins on the cross so that He could give you His eternal life, and give you His righteousness. Thank Him for what He has done for you. At that moment in time, you become born again. If you have accepted Jesus by faith then the Holy Spirit has sealed you with Him. He will never leave you nor forsake you no matter what.
