Classic Christianity – God Has No Preferences P1 (03-31-25)

Bob George Presents: God Has No Preferences P1

~ “The Lord is not slow in keeping His promise as some understand slowness, but is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish but everyone to come to repentance.” 2 Peter 3:9
~ Today, we have large groups of people that believe God picks winners and losers in spite of what the Word of God says. God is not wanting anyone to perish, and come to repentance (a change of mind). How can a person believe that the offer of salvation is made to everyone, yet it’s not really made to everyone, and only to those God picks? The logic doesn’t add up. God would have to be a liar to offer salvation to everyone, but not really for everyone. And we know God is NOT a liar. So what is the story about predestination and election in the word of God? Well, God is talking about groups of people elected to be part of His One body, through faith in Him. And it doesn’t matter the color of your skin, or whether you are a HEBREW or a Gentile, or slave of free, everyone in Christ is elected to be a child of God, the True church, not a building, not a religion, not a label of anything, but one Spirit and one Body, and Jesus is the head. Salvation is for EVERYONE, through faith In Jesus. That was His predestination plan of God.

…..

And a certain ruler asked Him, saying, “Good Teacher, having done what, will I inherit eternal life?”
And Jesus said to him, “Why do you call Me good? No one is good, except God alone.

~ “Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.” 1 John 5:12

~ Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life; the one believing in Me, even if he should die, he will live. And everyone living and believing in Me shall never die, to the age. Do you believe this?” John 11:25,26

Pray to God:

Do you really want to know the WHOLE Truth of what is going on today?

“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened to you.” Matthew 7:7

Lord Jesus, teach me the truth of the world today and give me the wisdom to know the truth and identify the lies of the devil. Thank you God.”

“~ Now what is very interesting to me is that there are people in Christianity today, a very large block of teaching that says that you may have been chosen for salvation, but you’re not. And now, and you look at that, and you say, Now, that is of strange theology in light of the fact that it is God’s will that none should perish and all should come to repentance, but I’m not going to choose you. It’s my will that you come, but I’m not going to let you. Now, you look at that and you say, that’s that’s plain idiocy. When you stop to think about it. When God made a plan for redemption and for salvation, He said, I want it for all people. There’s not a soul ever born on the face of this earth that it is not my desire and will that they come to know Jesus, not a soul. There’s no such thing as you’re elected, but you’re not. That is a doctrine to me that is so contrary to the Word of God that I don’t know how in the world it ever got into the so called Reformed theology and teach that as if it’s truth.” ~ Bob George

Well, let’s all turn to the book of Ephesians. We’re going to be picking up in just a moment, beginning in the sixth chapter. In as much as this is the concluding chapter in this book, what I’d like for us to do is just to take a moment to review what this book is all about, and therefore why the concluding chapter, we’ve talked about the fact that in the mind of God, that God had in his mind from the day that Adam fell and sin entered into this world, and death as a result of sin from that day forth was a plan put into the mind of God that at a specific time in history, in his perfect time, not ours, but his, that redemption would come to this world, and salvation would be offered to all men. And so we know from the scripture that it was God’s will that none should perish and all should come to repentance.

Now what is very interesting to me is that there are people in Christianity today, a very large block of teaching that says that you may have been chosen for salvation, but you’re not. That is a doctrine to me that is so contrary to the Word of God that I don’t know how in the world it ever got into the so called Reformed theology and teach that as if it’s truth.

Now, you have terms like predestination, and you have terms like election, don’t you? And that’s where this stuff came up with, predestined. Oh, you must be predestined. You’re not predestined. You may are part of the elect. You’re not of the elect. And through that, doctrines were formed that are totally contrary, in my opinion, to the Word of God. And I’m convinced that sooner or later, I’m going to write a book on this subject. It’s going to be in the next book that we have. Because to me, it’s time to go up against that theology and to show the irony of it. Now, when you’re talking about predestination and election, you’re talking about a Hebrew and Gentile situation, not a you and me, but a Jew and Gentile God. Word went first to the Hebrew, didn’t it? Salvation comes it said, first to the Hebrew and then to the Gentile. Now to the Hebrew, as we talked about they were given the ordinance of God. God appeared to them. It was through the Hebrew people that the gospel came. It was through the Hebrew line that the Messiah was going to be born. Paul talks about that in Romans. What advantages there being a Hebrew? And he explains those kind of things. And so that’s who the gospel went to. It went to the Hebrew. They were set apart from the entire heathenistic world. And folks, we talked about it before. We’ll talk about it again and again and again.

We have to understand how heathenistic we heathens were, and when it we sing up here, but we don’t know we’re singing thank you for saving a wretch like me. And yet we don’t believe we’re wretches. Now, Paul said wretched man that I am who will free me from this bondage of. Sin and death, but we look at ourselves as basically good people, don’t we? And we say that. Now, when they approach Jesus with this good people stuff, he said, Don’t call me good unless you’re going to call me bad a God, because only God is good. Now that ought to tell us something about ourselves. If only God is good, unless we think we’re God, then don’t think we’re good. And if anyone thinks we’re good, I want to interview your mate. So we have to see that God reached down to us, not as we say in Indiana, he wasn’t getting a pig and a poke. He knew what he was getting. He was getting a wretched, heathenistic person, and that’s what he reached down and pulled out of that environment of that identity and made us children of the living God. Now, to the Hebrew, they didn’t think that was that big of a deal, because I’m pretty good anyway. To the Gentile, they kind of knew we were hedonistic. To the Hebrew, they were religious. What God said, I’m going to neutralize both of you. To the Hebrew, you had the law, and I’m going to show you to the depths of your heart your inability to ever find righteousness in the sight of God through obedience to that law. And I’m going to bring it to your knees. To the Gentile. I’m going to show you how deep into heathenism you are, and to show you the deep longing of your heart to know something that you don’t know. I’m going to neutralize the whole world, and I’m going to enable both Hebrew and Gentile, slave and free to go free in Christ, Jesus the same way, and that’s through faith in my Son, never through your ordinances, never through your heathenistic practices, but only through my Son and folks. That’s precisely what predestination is about, and that’s precisely what election is about.

And so when you are dealing with this subject of the mystery that is all through this book of Ephesians, that mystery is that the Gentile, along with the Hebrew, has been chosen for salvation, same way, identically the same way to the Hebrew unthinkable that these heathenistic Gentiles could know the same God we know, the same God we have declared for 1000s of years. Don’t give me that stuff. Don’t tell me that those heathenistic Gentiles are going to know the same God I know. And so to the Hebrew, it was an unthinkable thing. So what did God do? Hold the most educated HEBREW that there was in Israel, Paul, and made him an apostle to the Gentile. Now, of all the unlikely people to go to the Gentile, it was Paul. He should have gone to the Hebrew and dazzled him with his intellect, but he sent him to the Gentiles and who descended the Hebrew old dumb fisherman Peter, because God, like Brian, did not want him depending on anything except himself.

So the whole book of Ephesians is dealing with this whole issue that you and I have now been made into one. And in Christ, there is no Hebrew, there is no Gentile, there’s no slave, no free. Now, folks, that’s why you see today as an example, you will see groups called “Messianic Jews.” And I’m not just off on that that is unbiblical in all ways, unless you don’t believe you’re in the body of Christ and just want to accept Jesus as a Messiah, the one who’s going to save Israel someday. But there’s no basis for being a “Messianic Jew.” There is no basis for having an organization, a church service. These are, these are “Messianic Jews.” God meant for Hebrews and Gentiles to be fellowshipping together, for slave and free to be fellowshipping together, not gathering a group over here and a group over here and a group over here, but for us to see the unbelievable unity that can be formed in the midst of our unbelievable differences, creating unity out of diversity. And so when we see what the message that he was trying to get across is, is there’s one body, and in chapter four, you’ll see him dealing with that make every effort to keep unity the spirit through the bond of peace, there is one body, there’s one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope when you were called one Lord, one. Faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is overall and through all and in all. To you all, okay, Paul was a Texan.

Now as he goes ahead, then he is saying, in verse 17, chapter four, I tell you, insist on it at the Lord, that you no longer live as the Gentiles do in the futility of their thinking. In other words, quit thinking like what you were. You call yourself a Gentile. That’s your natural birth. You call yourself a Hebrew. That’s a natural birth, but I made you into something greater than that. He’s called a child of God. And so to the Hebrew, I want you to quit thinking like a Hebrew, and to the Gentile, I want you to quit thinking like a Gentile and start thinking about this new man that you are, and that’s a child of the living God. You’re no longer a Hebrew, you’re no longer Gentile, you’re a child of God. And God divides mankind only into three categories, Hebrew, Gentile and church. And Church does not mean a building with stained glass on it. Church is Ecclesia. It means people called out ones. You can say you’re having a church service here. The only you would call that a church service. If everyone here was born again, then you can say that probably is a pretty good service among born again people, among God’s church. But God’s Church is a mystery. It’s not made up of where you gather on Sunday. It’s a mystery of born again people. And so to God, he has no preferences. When you’re born again, he doesn’t care what your color is, he doesn’t care what your education is. He doesn’t care what your financial status is. All he’s looking on is your heart. And when he saw a heart that was longing to know Him, and Jesus was revealed to him, and you responded to that invitation, you became a part of the body of Christ, and He alone is the head. So church is not an organization. It’s an organism. And the organism is he is a head, and you and I are a body. That’s not an organization. You don’t organize that thing. Now, in many times, we get together and we try to organize his body. And I’ve said how stupid it would be for a bunch of fingers to get together and have a committee meeting to determine what the thumbs ought to be doing on behalf of the head. Did you all get that? Can you see the stupidity of that? Let’s get together and see what these thumbs ought to be doing. Well, I got news for you. These fingers answer to one head, and so do the thumb. So I don’t need you telling me what to do. If you’re in Christ, Jesus, who is your head? He’s your head. I’m not so if I’m a finger, and you try to stick a head on top of that, you’re going to look like Jack in the Box. You so I am not here to tell people what to do, and you’re not there to tell people what to do. You’re there to get people depending on Christ to tell us what to do.

And there is your difference. Now if I see the church as an organization, then as an organization, someone’s got to be the head, someone’s got to tell you what to do. But if you see it as an organism, then you see, wait a minute, if it’s an organism, and He is the one who is to be our teacher and our instructor and our counselor, he uses parts of the body to help us to get back to the head, but in the final analysis, who we’re gaining information from is the head. So he’s telling us that no longer live as Gentiles do in the futility of their thinking and to be imitators of God. We talked about in the beginning of chapter five. If you turn over there in verse 15, he says, Be careful how you live, not as the unwise, but as the wise. So we’re given instructions on if you are now a part of the body of Christ. Here’s how I want you to think. Work. Now, last week, we talked about the fact that if you are married then and both of you are born again, you are a part of one body, whether you want to be or not. Now, you may decide to go over here and separate yourself, but you’re a part of one body. And if you are in Christ, you need to start seeing your wife as who she is, a child of the living God. She is your sister in Christ, and you start seeing your husband as who he is, and that’s your brother in Christ. Now you’re going to be a brother and sister in Christ, if both of you are in Christ through eternity. So you may be, might be mad at each other now, but you’re not going to be eternally mad at each other. So you may say, I’m not going to get along down here. That may be true, but you’re going to have to live eternally with that person. So quite frankly, you may as well just learn to get along now.

There will be no marriage in heaven. Some people think that’s why they call it heaven, but you will be a brother and sister in Christ through eternity together. So what he’s saying on that is treat each other like brothers and sisters in Christ. Say to a man, serve your wife, love her and serve her, just as I’ve served the church to the wife, it says, Be respectful of your husband, just as you’re respectful of the of your head. And I want to tell you something, folks, there is very, very, very little written about marriage in the Bible. As I’ve said, These people would have week long marriage conferences. I don’t know what they’re talking about, because they sure couldn’t be quote much Scripture. Because I would tell you, if you as a husband will love your wife as Christ loved the church, and you as a wife will be respectful of your husband, I’ll guarantee you’re not going to have many marriage problems. So it is not a complicated issue. It’s a the issue is, are you willing to live like Christ says, My instructions are to you to live. Are you willing to do that? You have sometimes I hear women say, oh, I want my husband to be a spiritual leader. I said, are you willing to be a spiritual follower? Because if you’re not willing to be a spiritual follower, please don’t ask me to be a leader, because you’re asking me to do something you’re not even going to let me do. And so we have an awful lot of that going on the world today. You need to be. You need to be. And I said, Well, if you were the spirit spiritual leader, what would you be doing? And everything you list a heathen can do because of the final analysis, what they’re saying, Oh, well, you’d be leading in prayer, and you’d be doing this. And I tell you, a Mormon can do that. So if you want to be a spiritual leader of your house, love your wife as Christ loved the church, and don’t put any other demands over and above that. And if you want to be a spiritual follower as a woman, respect your husband. You don’t need anything else besides those two things. Now I didn’t mean to get meddling, but now that you’re all looking shocked, we’ll just go on to children. That’s easier.

But folks, life is pretty much that simple. It is not much more complicated that, and when you seize problems in marriage, it’s because one or both of those things are being violated. We like to say it’s because of this and this and this and this. No, no, that’s the fruit of what’s wrong. The root of what’s wrong is you’re not loving your wife as Christ, love the church, and you are not living in submission to your husband.

Okay, let’s go on children, children that says, obey your parents in the Lord, how come? Because if you don’t, I’m going to whack you real good. What’s it say? Because it’s the right thing to do. Why? Because God engineered it that way. God engineered it in such a way that parents are to be over children until such time that they cease being children, and then when you get married, you are to leave your father and mother and to cleave to your wife and to your husband, and you’ve got a new unit going down. The two of you shall now become one, but as long as you’re at home, that’s a one unit. So he says, Children obey your parents. It’s right and and, quite frankly, there’s not too many parents that are going to be leading their kids into wrong living See, I think I’ll get up and see if I can get my kids on drugs today. I don’t think there’s too many people. People doing that, there are some, but I don’t think too many. Nobody, knows the Lord. So a parent is going to always be looking for the best. I’m not saying that everything they say is always the best, but their heart is always going to be in that direction. And it says to a child, if you’ll learn to obey your parents, because folks, if you don’t learn to obey your parents. If you’re a girl, how in the world you gotta learn to obey your husband and how you gonna learn to obey the Lord? So you better learn obedience some place down the line. Because all of our life, we’re into obedience, aren’t we? We’d better be. If we don’t follow the law, we’re gonna go to jail. And so we had better learn the idea of submission, and that’s why it says, Submit to one another. There is submission that is necessary in order to live. We must learn that. And so he says, to obey your parents for its right honor, your father and mother, which is the first commandment, with a promise that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on Earth. And what it is saying is there’s a consequence to that. Is you’re going to find you’re going to enjoy a long life on this earth, and while you’re here, it’s going to be enjoyable to know and honor your parents.

I think, to a degree, when I look back on my life and I said my mom and dad were were very they were church going, people as honorable people as you’d ever want to meet in your life. My dad, I just have undying respect for him, a wonderful man. My mom never had, I don’t ever remember coming home if there wasn’t a meal that’s obvious. She cared for us. Our parents cared for us. They were very non judgmental, and I respect and honor my dad and my mom above all people, and I look back and thank God for the heritage that I had with my mom and dad and so they never had a lot of trouble with me. Now I was in trouble, but they didn’t know about it, and I certainly wasn’t leading a perfect life, but I do know that in the little town that we lived, my dad was an attorney, and my growing up in that town, my buddies, even at that early age, would sometimes be going out and drinking and all that kind of stuff, and I would not do that out of deference for my dad. And I said, my dad is an honorable man, and I’m not going to disgrace him. And so there was something in us whereby our love and appreciation and honor of our parents kept us many times from doing what the whole place that I’d like to do. So it’s so important for us to to build that into our children. Now, what can tear that down? This honor that you’re looking at one thing fathers and stranger doesn’t talk anything about moms. Fathers do not exasperate your children. Instead, bring them up in training and instruction in the Lord. Now I want to ask you a question. If it says, fathers don’t exasperate your children, is it then natural for your children to be exasperated? I mean, is it unnatural to be exasperated? No, not unusual. If it was unnatural to be exasperated, he wouldn’t say, Don’t exasperate. So it’s nothing unusual about us being able to be exasperated. So what he’s saying is, don’t draw that out of your kids. You see, all of us are capable of all kinds of things, aren’t we? We’re capable of all kinds of responses. So he says, Don’t create something that’s going to reveal that. It’s like sometimes Amy will say, Well, do you want to watch this TV program as Christian? No, I don’t. I have enough problem with my critical spirit without having to watch that and have it drawn out of me. I don’t want to watch that stuff. It just draws the worst out of me. Just all there is to it. No, I’m not. I don’t want to do that. Well, it’s the same thing. It says fathers don’t exasperate your children.

Sometimes we as dads can be wanting, especially many times with their boys, wanting to kind of live vicariously through our children. And you can have a guy that maybe wanted to be a pro football player, but he didn’t get to, but did play high school, so boy, he’s going to get his boys doing that. Where his kid may be. He wanted to be a musician, and I don’t want him to be a musician. I want to be a football player. You know, I want to live vicariously through that child. And many times, because of that, instead of accepting that child for what they are and training them and in instruction, in the Lord, we’re trying to mold them into our image. And many times, we ruin our kids that way. That happens a lot with pastors children, and that’s why they call them PKs and and all the other names that they come up with. And it’s not easy being a pastor’s child, because there’s there’s there’s this thing that’s over you, that I’ve got to act this certain way, and I got to be this certain way, because my dad’s pastor of the church, and lot of them, they just go out and they’re wild as a march hare. And you hear about that, why? You know what? What’s it say? The power of sin is what? In the law. And brother, those kids are under the law, and the power of sin is there, and they absolutely rebel and go just live any way they want to. So it says to train the whole thing is here, train your children up with training and instruction in the Lord, don’t exasperate them. Train them. Train them. Now it goes down to chapter, to verse five. We have to remember that in those days that a slave, 60% of the population of the world, in Jesus day, were enslaved. They were slaves. The almost the entire HEBREW people were slaves. Slavery is not something that is new. It’s been it’s been going on for years. My wife was a slave in Germany. When you go into a concentration camp, you’re a slave. And so a slavery is not something that is to one group of people. It can happen to anyone of any color or creed. All you have to do to be a slave is to have someone that is able to make you a slave. And so in those days, why the Roman rule was primary in the in the land, and they made people slaves.
