Classic Christianity – Book of John Part 52 (07-30-19)
Jesus has just raised Lazarus from the dead. Here is Jesus, God in the flesh, looking beyond the immediate situation, knowing the deepest need of man. Yet man is so naturally selfish. He is really only concerned about his immediate problem. Natural man is not so concerned if someone else’s mother dies. But if his own mother dies, then he is concerned. God looks beyond the immediate need. He looks at the needs of the entire world. God looks at those needs and says, “I will cause all things to work together for the good of those who love God and have been called according to his purpose. I will not make bad good.” That is why we can praise God in all things. We have that promise from Christ Jesus.
Martha, the sister of Lazarus who is lying dead in a tomb with a stone rolled in front of the entrance says to Jesus, “But Jesus, there is a strong odor. He has been in their for over 4 days.” Jesus tells her, “Did I not tell you, that if you believed, you will see the glory of God?” … Listen to Broadcast & Read More
Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P440 (5-16-19)
Bob George sometimes received calls from people who have a general question concerning a scripture that seems out of place and does not make sense in reference to the totality of other scriptures. They call to ask Bob for his understanding. Bob addressed a question by Larry to explain Mark 16:6. Sometimes just common sense can get you through a scripture’s intended meaning. We should not drink poison or drink poison thinking we will not be harmed. Bob also explained how a translation can have a passage that is not in the original manuscripts and to take that into consideration when studying God’s word.
Other times people call just to thank Bob for resources received to share with others so as to grow and be encouraged in the faith. Such was the case with Ted who called thanking Bob for bible study materials he received, such as “Classic Christianity” and “Victory over Depression” that he shared with men he was deployed with in Iraq.
Bob also received calls from others who were listening to false teaching. So often people hear preachers say that salvation is coming to get your sins forgiven. … Listen to Broadcast & Read More
Classic Christianity Radio (03-13-19) – Created Anew Part 3
Bob George shares from scripture on being made anew in the Spirit of God by spiritual new birth.
2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
We are now a child of God when by faith we trusted in what God accomplished for us in Jesus Christ, by his death, burial and resurrection. My heritage as a Jew or a Gentile is not important anymore. I am proud to be a child of God. My citizenship is in heaven. As a child of God, we are created for good works, that he produces in us and through us as we trust in him. Bob also shared from the parable Jesus told his disciples in John 15 concerning the vine and the branches.
Ephesians 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
Bob had a conversation with a lady who said the more you do the more rewards you get. That is not in accordance with truth. God … Listen to Broadcast & Read More
Classic Christianity Radio (03-12-19) – Created Anew Part 2
Bob George shares from Ephesians about being created anew, that both the Jew and the Gentile, as one body in Christ Jesus, are saved the same way.
Ephesians 2:8-9 8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith — and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God — 9 not by works, so that no one can boast.
Bob explains mercy and grace and how God provided both mercy and grace to us in Christ Jesus. God showed mercy when he withheld death from us, who deserved and earned death because of sin. God extended grace to us when he offered eternal life as a gift, something we never deserved and could never earn. Bob then explained the difference between belief and faith. Belief is necessary for faith but is not automatic in the faith. True faith is putting trust in Jesus Christ, in what he accomplished for you in his death, burial and resurrection.
1 Corinthians 15:1-4 Now, brothers and sisters, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your … Listen to Broadcast & Read More
Classic Christianity Radio (03-11-19) – Created Anew Part 1
Bob introduces the topic of being created anew, when someone is born again spiritually. When someone is born again, the Holy Spirit takes residence in you and all things become new. Bob shares from Ephesians 1 and 2 and explains this faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, the same faith available to both the Jews and the Gentiles, by which all men are made acceptable to God.
Ephesians 1:15 15 For this reason, ever since I heard about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all God’s people
To better explain this concept of both the Jew and Gentile being saved the same way, Bob provides background information on the lifestyle and thinking of the Gentile world in the time period of Paul’s visitation to Ephesus. The Gentile world today is not like what it was like thousands of years ago. Today’s Gentile world is in general still a moral and decent people and quite a contrast to the goddess worship and temple prostitution practiced by those Gentiles in days gone by. Today that moral decency is fading away. But the roots of idolatry, superstition and … Listen to Broadcast & Read More
