Classic Christianity – God Has No Preferences P2 (04-01-25)

Bob George Presents: God Has No Preferences P2

~ “Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. “Honor your Father and mother,” which is the first commandment with a promise, “that it may be well with you and you will be long-lived upon the earth.” and fathers, do not provoke your children, but bring them up in the discipline and admonition of the Lord.” Ephesians 6:1-4
~ Today, we are learning more about the family unit as it pertains to those who are in Christ Jesus as well as some good advice for others and their children. Children are to obey parents and for parents, especially fathers to train a child properly in the LORD. Now most parents are trying to do the right thing, though that is getting more and more difficult as time goes on. Because what we see in the world is not at ALL what the instructions of God are for us. The world says, allow the school system for example to teach our children, and many times we as parents don’t even know what is being taught to them on a day to day basis there. And there are always other major influences of what they watch on the Tell-a-Vision or on their small screen tablets and cell phones, that are totally against the teachings of God. And it is NOT just the programs, but also the ads themselves that brainwash our children. And folks, there is no easy way out of this. And churches are no better either today, for they are into all kinds of do-do things, instead of teaching the TRUE word of God. And when the word of God is being taught, it is being taught in lying type ways, where the grace of God is not even taught in its fullness. So children are taught to be afraid of a God, that if you break the rules, He is going to send you to hell if you don’t ask for forgiveness by God. And we too were taught those same lies, that God was a type of forgiveness vending machine.

There is only one way out of this, and that is through Jesus, our Lord and Savior. Many of us have learned late in life the TRUTH of completed forgiveness on the cross, after our children have grown up. Others of us, learned the Truth along the way while raising our children. All we can do now, is to allow our lives to be controlled by Him, as the Spirit directs us to teach TRUTH to our older children, and admit to them our mistakes. And do not blame yourself either, or let others place you on a guilt trip, because we have ALL fallen for the lies. And most parents try the best they know how to do, but they were not taught early in life themselves in the ways of the LORD. So don’t hold it against your parents either, for they too were taught the lies of Satan.

All we can do is live by Faith from first to last, now in this present age, and allow the Holy Spirit to live through us moment by moment in time. We cannot change the past, and one minute ago was the past. And we do not know the future either, for the future is in God’s hands, so don’t worry about that. All we can do is live in the present and to continue allowing the Holy Spirit to renew our mind, and lead us in ALL TRUTH.

…..

And a certain ruler asked Him, saying, “Good Teacher, having done what, will I inherit eternal life?”
And Jesus said to him, “Why do you call Me good? No one is good, except God alone.

~ “Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.” 1 John 5:12

~ Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life; the one believing in Me, even if he should die, he will live. And everyone living and believing in Me shall never die, to the age. Do you believe this?” John 11:25,26

Pray to God:

Do you really want to know the WHOLE Truth of what is going on today?

“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened to you.” Matthew 7:7

Lord Jesus, teach me the truth of the world today and give me the wisdom to know the truth and identify the lies of the devil. Thank you God.”

“~ I think, to a degree, when I look back on my life and I said my mom and dad were were very they were church going, people as honorable people as you’d ever want to meet in your life. My dad, I just have undying respect for him, a wonderful man. My mom never had, I don’t ever remember coming home if there wasn’t a meal that’s obvious. She cared for us. Our parents cared for us. They were very non judgmental, and I respect and honor my dad and my mom above all people, and I look back and thank God for the heritage that I had with my mom and dad and so they never had a lot of trouble with me. Now I was in trouble, but they didn’t know about it, and I certainly wasn’t leading a perfect life, but I do know that in the little town that we lived, my dad was an attorney, and my growing up in that town, my buddies, even at that early age, would sometimes be going out and drinking and all that kind of stuff, and I would not do that out of deference for my dad. And I said, my dad is an honorable man, and I’m not going to disgrace him. And so there was something in us whereby our love and appreciation and honor of our parents kept us many times from doing what the whole place that I’d like to do. So it’s so important for us to to build that into our children.” ~ Bob George

Bob George 0:30

Now if I see the church as an organization, then as an organization, someone’s got to be the head, someone’s got to tell you what to do. But if you see it as an organism, then you see, wait a minute, if it’s an organism, and He is the one who is to be our teacher and our instructor and our counselor, he uses parts of the body to help us to get back to the head, but in the final analysis, who we’re gaining information from is the head. So he’s telling us that no longer live as Gentiles do in the futility of their thinking and to be imitators of God. We talked about in the beginning of chapter five. If you turn over there in verse 15, he says, Be careful how you live, not as the unwise, but as the wise. So we’re given instructions on if you are now a part of the body of Christ. Here’s how I want you to think. Work. Now, last week, we talked about the fact that if you are married then and both of you are born again, you are a part of one body, whether you want to be or not. Now, you may decide to go over here and separate yourself, but you’re a part of one body. And if you are in Christ, you need to start seeing your wife as who she is, a child of the living God. She is your sister in Christ, and you start seeing your husband as who he is, and that’s your brother in Christ. Now you’re going to be a brother and sister in Christ, if both of you are in Christ through eternity. So you may be, might be mad at each other now, but you’re not going to be eternally mad at each other. So you may say, I’m not going to get along down here. That may be true, but you’re going to have to live eternally with that person. So quite frankly, you may as well just learn to get along now.

There will be no marriage in heaven. Some people think that’s why they call it heaven, but you will be a brother and sister in Christ through eternity together. So what he’s saying on that is treat each other like brothers and sisters in Christ. Say to a man, serve your wife, love her and serve her, just as I’ve served the church to the wife, it says, Be respectful of your husband, just as you’re respectful of the of your head. And I want to tell you something, folks, there is very, very, very little written about marriage in the Bible. As I’ve said, These people would have week long marriage conferences. I don’t know what they’re talking about, because they sure couldn’t be quote much Scripture. Because I would tell you, if you as a husband will love your wife as Christ loved the church, and you as a wife will be respectful of your husband, I’ll guarantee you’re not going to have many marriage problems. So it is not a complicated issue. It’s a the issue is, are you willing to live like Christ says, My instructions are to you to live. Are you willing to do that? You have sometimes I hear women say, oh, I want my husband to be a spiritual leader. I said, are you willing to be a spiritual follower? Because if you’re not willing to be a spiritual follower, please don’t ask me to be a leader, because you’re asking me to do something you’re not even going to let me do. And so we have an awful lot of that going on the world today. You need to be. You need to be. And I said, Well, if you were the spirit spiritual leader, what would you be doing? And everything you list a heathen can do because of the final analysis, what they’re saying, Oh, well, you’d be leading in prayer, and you’d be doing this. And I tell you, a Mormon can do that. So if you want to be a spiritual leader of your house, love your wife as Christ loved the church, and don’t put any other demands over and above that. And if you want to be a spiritual follower as a woman, respect your husband. You don’t need anything else besides those two things. Now I didn’t mean to get meddling, but now that you’re all looking shocked, we’ll just go on to children. That’s easier.

But folks, life is pretty much that simple. It is not much more complicated that, and when you seize problems in marriage, it’s because one or both of those things are being violated. We like to say it’s because of this and this and this and this. No, no, that’s the fruit of what’s wrong. The root of what’s wrong is you’re not loving your wife as Christ, love the church, and you are not living in submission to your husband.

Okay, let’s go on children, children that says, obey your parents in the Lord, how come? Because if you don’t, I’m going to whack you real good. What’s it say? Because it’s the right thing to do. Why? Because God engineered it that way. God engineered it in such a way that parents are to be over children until such time that they cease being children, and then when you get married, you are to leave your father and mother and to cleave to your wife and to your husband, and you’ve got a new unit going down. The two of you shall now become one, but as long as you’re at home, that’s a one unit. So he says, Children obey your parents. It’s right and and, quite frankly, there’s not too many parents that are going to be leading their kids into wrong living See, I think I’ll get up and see if I can get my kids on drugs today. I don’t think there’s too many people. People doing that, there are some, but I don’t think too many. Nobody, knows the Lord. So a parent is going to always be looking for the best. I’m not saying that everything they say is always the best, but their heart is always going to be in that direction. And it says to a child, if you’ll learn to obey your parents, because folks, if you don’t learn to obey your parents. If you’re a girl, how in the world you gotta learn to obey your husband and how you gonna learn to obey the Lord? So you better learn obedience some place down the line. Because all of our life, we’re into obedience, aren’t we? We’d better be. If we don’t follow the law, we’re gonna go to jail. And so we had better learn the idea of submission, and that’s why it says, Submit to one another. There is submission that is necessary in order to live. We must learn that. And so he says, to obey your parents for its right honor, your father and mother, which is the first commandment, with a promise that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on Earth. And what it is saying is there’s a consequence to that. Is you’re going to find you’re going to enjoy a long life on this earth, and while you’re here, it’s going to be enjoyable to know and honor your parents.

I think, to a degree, when I look back on my life and I said my mom and dad were were very they were church going, people as honorable people as you’d ever want to meet in your life. So it’s so important for us to to build that into our children. Now, what can tear that down? This honor that you’re looking at one thing fathers and stranger doesn’t talk anything about moms. Fathers do not exasperate your children. Instead, bring them up in training and instruction in the Lord. Now I want to ask you a question. If it says, fathers don’t exasperate your children, is it then natural for your children to be exasperated? I mean, is it unnatural to be exasperated? No, not unusual. If it was unnatural to be exasperated, he wouldn’t say, Don’t exasperate. So it’s nothing unusual about us being able to be exasperated. So what he’s saying is, don’t draw that out of your kids. You see, all of us are capable of all kinds of things, aren’t we? We’re capable of all kinds of responses. So he says, Don’t create something that’s going to reveal that. It’s like sometimes Amy will say, Well, do you want to watch this TV program as Christian? No, I don’t. I have enough problem with my critical spirit without having to watch that and have it drawn out of me. I don’t want to watch that stuff. It just draws the worst out of me. Just all there is to it. No, I’m not. I don’t want to do that. Well, it’s the same thing. It says fathers don’t exasperate your children.

Sometimes we as dads can be wanting, especially many times with their boys, wanting to kind of live vicariously through our children. And you can have a guy that maybe wanted to be a pro football player, but he didn’t get to, but did play high school, so boy, he’s going to get his boys doing that. Where his kid may be. He wanted to be a musician, and I don’t want him to be a musician. I want to be a football player. You know, I want to live vicariously through that child. And many times, because of that, instead of accepting that child for what they are and training them and in instruction, in the Lord, we’re trying to mold them into our image. And many times, we ruin our kids that way. That happens a lot with pastors children, and that’s why they call them PKs and and all the other names that they come up with. And it’s not easy being a pastor’s child, because there’s there’s there’s this thing that’s over you, that I’ve got to act this certain way, and I got to be this certain way, because my dad’s pastor of the church, and lot of them, they just go out and they’re wild as a march hare. And you hear about that, why? You know what? What’s it say? The power of sin is what? In the law. And brother, those kids are under the law, and the power of sin is there, and they absolutely rebel and go just live any way they want to. So it says to train the whole thing is here, train your children up with training and instruction in the Lord, don’t exasperate them. Train them. Train them. Now it goes down to chapter, to verse five. We have to remember that in those days that a slave, 60% of the population of the world, in Jesus day, were enslaved. They were slaves. The almost the entire HEBREW people were slaves. Slavery is not something that is new. It’s been it’s been going on for years. My wife was a slave in Germany. When you go into a concentration camp, you’re a slave. And so a slavery is not something that is to one group of people. It can happen to anyone of any color or creed. All you have to do to be a slave is to have someone that is able to make you a slave. And so in those days, why the Roman rule was primary in the in the land, and they made people slaves.

Bob George 14:16
And so in Egypt, the pyramids were built with slaves, and those were basically Israelis and people that they would make into slavery. So this, when you’re talking about that, you’re talking about the idea of owning a person where they have no rights they have, they’re told what to do 24 hours a day, they’re a slave to somebody. They have no way of getting out of it. Now, if you were in that condition, in that condition of being a slave, whether it would have been someone like Amy in Germany or the slavery that took place in this country among the blacks in. Slavery that took place in other parts of the world. The Russians had slaves. Everyone has always had slaves. I’ve got a certain group of people I’m going to grab a hold of and make make my slave. Now, if you’re in that condition, why, Here’s what he says to you. Now, he says, You’re a born and believer. You’re all part of one body, no exception. So he says, obey your earthly masters with respect and fear. Now you see, though you’d think God had say, go wipe them out. Said, no, no, no. If you’re a child of God, obey them with respect and with fear. And that means humility. Whenever you see fear, you’re talking about humility and with sincerity of heart, just as you would obey Christ. Now, guys, is that natural? I mean, is that something you say? Well, that makes sense. Well, my old flesh, I just grab a hold of that one. No, no, no. Everything inside of your humanity and flesh says, Are you kidding me? Does it make sense when it says wives obey your husband? Does your flesh just respond? Oh, Whoopie. You see, folks, we don’t like to be told to obey anybody, do we? Because that means somebody is telling me what to do. So you watch your step there.

But you see, God’s ways are not our ways. His thoughts are not our thoughts. The way He tells us to live is totally contrary to the world. Someone slaps you on the cheek. Turn the other one. You kidding? Bust you in the mouth. You know that’s flesh, isn’t it? He says, no, no, that’s not the way to live. He said, You’re going to find some real power in love. So he says to to obey. Now here’s reason. Obey them, not only to win their favor when their eyes is on you, but like slaves of Christ, doing the will of God from your heart. You want to serve the Lord, because you know he’s watching you. If you don’t, he’s going to get you. Or do you want to serve the Lord? Out of your heart, guys, look at Joseph. What was he? What was Joseph to Pharaoh? A slave. Wasn’t he? Slave. But he honored his master, and the next thing you know he was right at his side, and the next thing you know he is running everything. And so he says, For your benefit, you want to be smart Christian, Christian slave. You want to be smart? Obey your master, serve Him with sincerity, and one of these days, you probably ruin things. Now that didn’t reason to do that, but it says, I’m going to show you the power of love and the power of submission.

Now it says, serve wholeheartedly as as if you were serving the Lord, not men. So in other words, what you’re saying is, when I’m doing this, I’m not doing this because I’m just real happy with this circumstance, but I’m doing this in submission to the Lord, and as a result of my submission to the Lord, I’m going to walk in submission to man. So he says to do that as if you’re serving the Lord, not men. How come? Well, because you know that the Lord will reward everyone for whatever good he does, whether he is a slave or whether he’s free. In other words, but God isn’t looking at you whether you’re a slave, whether you’re free. I’m looking at you is how you’re responding to the circumstances of life. Now. It says now to the Masters, he says, treat your slaves in the same way. Don’t threaten them, since you know that he who is both their master and yours. So here’s his slave master. He’s thinking he’s here. He’s the he is the man. He said, No, you’re not. I’m the man, and the same one whose master that slave is also your master. So as a result of that, treat your slaves in the same way. Don’t threaten them, because you know that he who is both their master is yours, is in heaven, and there is no favoritism with him. What’s he saying? You may be a big dog to the world, but you’re not to me. That person that you have in slavery is as precious to me as you will ever be. Now, if that’s. How I think about him. Why don’t you think about him that way?

Folks, the guy who wrote amazing grace that we just sang, you know what he was? He was a slave trader, a slave owner, and it was while he was on one of his trips going back from this country to buy slaves, that God got a hold of his life, and he realized I cannot continue doing this. This is wrong. Did he know it was wrong as a lost person? Not necessarily, everybody else is doing it. And if I don’t do it, someone else will do it, that’s the rationale. And so I’ll just do it as a child of God. This is wrong for a man to own another person. And he came to Jesus and wrote amazing grace. How sweet a sound that saved, what? A wretch like me. Prior he is a big old slave owner. After Jesus, I’m a wretch. He saw himself as God saw him and got rid of his business.

So when you’re talking about this attitude, we realize that there, from God’s standpoint, there is no favoritism with him at all. And as a result of that, you now begin to look at people in the same way. If you’re a so called boss, you don’t look at your people as employees. You look at them as brothers and sisters in Christ. If that’s indeed what they are, you are not better than they are. We’re all in God’s standpoint on an equal basis. There’s no heroes. I like what Steve McVeigh was talking about at the conference, where he always envisioned this slow motion deal of running toward God and God running toward him, and just as he was getting ready to reach him, he went behind him and said, ___ ___. But God doesn’t think any more of ___ ___ than he does of you. And so we have to realize that God’s love for His children. He has no favoritism at all.

So what’s he saying to us? If that’s the case, why should we have favoritism? Didn’t Jesus talk about that? Don’t be going in trying to get up the front of the table, go sit at the back. And if somebody wants to elevate them, elevate you. Let him. Let him do it. Let’s not be pushing for that stuff. So great instruction isn’t it. Totally contrary to the thinking of our flesh, but absolutely where God says this is the way I want you to think. Now he goes ahead to say, finally, be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power. Now he’s going to tell us now, as a result of who you are, is a child of the living God. No favoritism from God. If you’re a slave owner, be good to your slaves, and I’ll get a hold of your life. We won’t have any if you’re in that. If you are a slave, serve your master. Try to serve him the best, and you’re going to see the benefit of that sooner or later, and now finally, be strong of the Lord and in His mighty power. And he says, Put on the full armor of God. Now, in this in as much as many of these epistles were written in prison, I would assume that Paul was probably looking at a Roman guard, pretty much of a slave, pretty much in a condition of being about the same as a slave when you’re in prison. And he’s going to give some analogies along a physical example. So he says, Put on this full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil schemes for our struggle. Look at this, folks. Is not against flesh and blood, but it’s against the rulers, the authorities and the powers in this dark world, and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Now, guys, we talk a lot about the conflict between the flesh and the spirit, don’t we, but he says, No, that really is not your conflict. Satan uses your flesh, but the problem is not your flesh. The problem is the devil’s schemes, and the problem is the rulers and the authorities and the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. There’s your problem. My flesh is the receptor of these things, these things, these ploys of Satan do not appeal or go to my spirit. They go to my. Flesh. God speaks to my spirit. When you are born again, you have one input into your spirit, but you have the world’s input into your soul. Do we understand that called your flesh? And so you have two sources of information coming into you. You have God creating the desires of the Spirit, and you have all of these things going into your flesh, creating desires of your flesh. Both of those are outside influences coming into you. Do we understand that? Now, all of this stuff here, these things of the flesh, sound like it’s you saying them, and where the subtlety of Satan is that he talks in a nice Texas accent, and He sounds just like you, but it is him putting these thoughts into your mind. The rulers of this world who own this world are constantly through advertising, through promotion, through compromise of any kind of moral principles are there for one reason to put input into your and my mind that is contrary to the input that comes from The Spirit of God. So he says, Here, put on an armor of God, because it’s not you, it’s who’s getting this input into you. Armor is to protect me from you, not to protect me from me. And so the armor is there to protect you from what’s coming in. Do we understand this? So we get to all of these thoughts, and boy, they sound just like us. They say, who oh brother why has God put up with me? We have to realize that’s what flesh is. Is a receptor. I call your flesh and spirit like an AM FM radio. Back in my days, when am and FM first came in, right? That’s a long time ago, you didn’t have an am FM radio. You had an AM radio, and then when FM came in, you had an FM radio. So if you wanted to listen to the two you had to buy two radios as a long time ago, the Earth’s crust was not fully hardened at that time.
