Observations of Life Part 2
~ “That God was reconciling the world to Himself in Christ, not counting men’s trespasses (sins) against them. And He has committed to us the message of reconciliation.” 2 Corinthians 5:19
When a person places Faith in Christ Jesus later in life, they want to jump for joy, because they realize that everything they were searching for in life, is worthless as compared to knowing Christ Jesus, and having His Spirit living in you. You want to tell people that Jesus took away ALL their sins at the cross and God is no longer counting anyone’s sins against them. Because you know in your heart the lost are caught up in religion or in the things of the world. They need to hear about Jesus. They need him for LIFE. For without Jesus everything is futile.
Everything Is Futile 1 These are the words of the Teacher, the son of David, king in Jerusalem: 2 “Futility of futilities,” says the Teacher, “futility of futilities! Everything is futile!” 3 What does a man gain from all his labor, at which he toils under the sun? 4 Generations come and generations go, but the EARTH REMAINS FOREVER. 5 The sun rises and the sun sets; it hurries back to where it rises. 6 The wind blows southward, then turns northward; round and round it swirls, ever returning on its course. 7 All the rivers flow into the sea, yet the sea is never full; to the place from which the streams come, there again they flow. 8 All things are wearisome, more than one can describe; the eye is not satisfied with seeing, nor the ear content with hearing. 9 What has been will be again, and what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun. 10 Is there a case where one can say, “Look, this is new”? It has already existed in the ages before us. 11 There is no remembrance of those who came before, and those yet to come will not be remembered by those who follow after. With Wisdom Comes Sorrow 12 I, the Teacher, was king over Israel in Jerusalem. 13 And I set my mind to seek and explore by wisdom all that is done under heaven. What a miserable task God has laid upon the sons of men to occupy them! 14 I have seen all the things that are done under the sun, and have found them all to be futile, a pursuit of the wind. 15 What is crooked cannot be straightened, and what is lacking cannot be counted. 16 I said to myself, “Behold, I have grown and increased in wisdom beyond all those before me who were over Jerusalem, and my mind has observed a wealth of wisdom and knowledge.” 17 So I set my mind to know wisdom and madness and folly; I learned that this, too, is a pursuit of the wind. 18 For with much wisdom comes much sorrow, and as knowledge grows, grief increases.
…..
And a certain ruler asked Him, saying, “Good Teacher, having done what, will I inherit eternal life?”
And Jesus said to him, “Why do you call Me good? No one is good, except God alone.
~ “Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.” 1 John 5:12
~ Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life; the one believing in Me, even if he should die, he will live. And everyone living and believing in Me shall never die, to the age. Do you believe this?” John 11:25,26

Pray to God:
Do you really want to know the WHOLE Truth of what is going on today?
“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened to you.” Matthew 7:7
Lord Jesus, teach me the truth of the world today and give me the wisdom to know the truth and identify the lies of the devil. Thank you God.”
~ “I can remember in my early experience of coming to Christ, I was so unbelievably excited about the fact that I had been born again, because I had searched for 36 years, I had tried and achieved a certain degree of success of climbing up this ladder and working for acceptance and working for success and working for money and and all of that type of thing, to find the emptiness of it. I remember thinking to myself when I was in Los Angeles and had this warehouse and pretty good sized business going. And I thought, gee, this is what I sought all my life, but I’m still empty inside. And so I went down, opened up a branch in San Diego, and after a while, was going to go up to northern California for another branch. Nothing was satisfied. And I kept going out. It had branches all over the place. It looked like a tree, idiot. Because nothing satisfied, nothing satisfied. You can have nice cars, have a nice house, have a wonderful wife, had beautiful kids, nothing satisfied. Now when you’re curious and you ask questions, my question to God was, what is it all about? What is this all about Lord? I saw my dad dying in front of my eyes. Dad had worked all of his life, and now he’s dying. What’s it all about? And it just tugs at your heart. What’s it all about? Why am I here? What meaning is there for down here?” ~ Bob George

Guys, we have set this week a very, very interesting week. We lost Farrah Fawcett. Farrah Fawcett, one of Charlie’s Angels, at one time, probably one of the most beautiful and young actresses in television. On Charlie’s Angel. Beautiful head of hair, beautiful girl, popular actress, dies loaded down with alcohol. You had Ed McMahon, the number two man on the Johnny Carson Show, probably the best known announcer in television that’s ever been. A funny guy, nice guy, recognizable. Amy and I were in New York one time, saw him on the street, knew immediately who he was. We live in Texas. He lives in New York, knew immediately who he was. Died, losing his home in bankruptcy, and then we have Michael Jackson and for four solid days, we’ve heard tributes to Michael Jackson. Prior to his death, he never heard about him. When he was going through all those molestation things, the media was beating the daylights out of him, and the minute he dies, you would think the Messiah had died. But I want to tell you something. None of that means anything to Michael, none of that means anything to Farrah. None of that means anything to Ed McMahon. They’re gone. And the issue is, where are they? Where are they? Because all of the fame and fortune means nothing, and in every one of those cases, they were plagued with sin, either alcohol, drugs or both, or or child molestation or whatever it is, plagued with sin, popular, rich at one time, but as empty as a pork barrel. You had Elvis Presley, the same thing, probably one of the most popular and famous singers that this world will ever know, and yet died desperately of alcohol, couldn’t help from feeling sorry for him, but that’s how they die meaningless. And he would have told you, life is meaningless. I got popularity. I can sing if people know who I am, Meaningless, meaningless. You know what people do in that? Try to escape people, try to get away from them, where they died, to get popular so people would know who I am. And the minute you get that, you can’t wait to get rid of them. Those are observations that you make in life, folks, the more you get, the more you want.
I remember when I was graduating from college, if you could make $12,000 a year, you were a rich man. If you could make 12,000 bucks a year, and I can remember my seeking that mark 12,000 bucks. Oh, if I make $12,000 I’d just be as happy as a hog in mud. Well, I remember the day I hit 24,000 or 12,000 and that day I was shooting for 24 that day, that day, and the day I hit 24 I was shooting for 50 and I’ll not go any further than that, but it just went up and up and up and up, just like they asked Rockefeller, how much money will it take to make you happy? Just a little bit more. And so folks, there is no contentment in life. We think there is. Marilyn Monroe, probably one of the most beautiful women that was ever in movies, died drug overdose. Died, miserable, miserable, miserable. Now, what is it, if that isn’t going to make you happy being a big movie star, everybody knows who you are. You can go to a movie and see yourself up on a big screen and look at your face and your body and just ooh. Nobody cares. Nobody cares.
I remember as a child, a young boy in our hometown, we had a Chrysler plant there, and one of the vice presidents of Chrysler was a friend of mine, of our families, and I was with my dad. As a young boy on the day that he died, and all of the executives were there comforting the wife. And do you know how they were comforting the wife standing around the corner, figuring out who we’re going to replace him with. And that’s all they talked about. Who are we going to replace him with? That’s how important he was alive today. Now who’s going to replace him? Same thing is true with you. When my doctor died, I got a new doctor. My lawyer died, get a new lawyer. Grocery Store goes broke, get a new grocery store. And that’s the way life is. Car breaks down, get a new one. And that’s life. Those are observations that you can make, if you will just be a little bit observant. That’s the observation you.
Get married thinking this girl is going to make me happy, we’ll see, or this man is going to make me happy. You see, you don’t get married, so they’ll make you happy. If you want a solid marriage, you’re going to get married to someone that you want to serve and love, regardless whether she makes you happy or not, or vice versa. It’s our observations. It’s what Solomon did, observations about life. He wants us to look at life realistically, guys, not with pie in the sky. We are so inclined to want to think pie in the sky. We’re so inclined to get these visions of what things should be like and then beat the devil out of people because they don’t perform the way we think it should be. Visions instead of just looking at reality. I’ll tell you what reality is, folks, we’re all fallen people. We are all people full of good things and bad things. Are we not? I have good points. I got bad points. But if you’re going to like me, you’re going to have to love me warts and all, because I got them and so do you. I got good characteristics and I got some bad ones. I got times that I do good, I got time so to do bad. That’s Is that true or not? Not just about me. I’m not talking about me, I’m talking about you. I’m just confessing what I’m doing. We have to understand the truth of this, and so does your mate, and so do your kids. We’re not We’re not perfect human beings, we’re fallen creatures, and we have to understand that as long as we’re going to live on this earth, you’re going to be living around fallen creatures. You’re going to be living around people who have faults, just like you are we right or wrong? There just isn’t anybody that’s real sweet all the time. We can act sweet at work, but what do when you get home? What do you do on the freeway getting home? So we have to understand the truth of this, guys, that there’s no one perfect out there. We’re fallen creatures. And so that’s an observation. That’s an observation that if you live long enough, you ought to figure it out. It’s, I don’t think that I’m married to a perfect, perfect person. Now, you don’t have to be a genius. I don’t think I’d be married over 5, 10 minutes to figure that out. But we need to figure it out. And we need to learn to say the issue is, am I going to be a forgiving person, or am I going to be resentful because they’re not performing the way I deserve to be treated?
Well, we’ve really had it this week, and we’ve seen to me, at least, you see the futility three very, very popular at one time, wealthy people who were dead, dead, and the best that could happen is the media coverage. I think of people back in my generation, people you probably some of you will not even know who I’m talking about, Perry Como. Does anyone remember even Frank Sinatra? He’s going to go by the wayside too, gone. I think when Perry Como died, there was an article in a paper about that big he was one of the most popular singers in America at that time. So guys, you know, I got people who live to make a legacy. Say so you got your name on a building. Are you going to know anything about that? I mean, you’re going to look down heaven say, Hey, look at that building down there, my name down there on. You’re gone. You’re gone. I’ll tell you a legacy you can leave that you led someone to the Lord.
You see, it doesn’t make any difference where you are or who you are. You’re somebody, and you’re out there in the harvest field of life. And when you’re in the harvest field of life, you’re around people all the time. And if you and I are truly born again, and we have come to understand what our purpose is, I know who I am. My purpose is to be available to the living Christ who lives in and through me. Then you have an opportunity of being an ambassador for Christ, Jesus, wherever you are 24 hours a day. There is no such thing as you not being able to have a ministry unless you isolate yourself in your house and never get out. Because if you’re available to the living Christ, He will put one opportunity in front of you after another after another. And guys, you don’t have to be Mr. Glib to share Christ. You can just share what he’s done in your life.
I can remember in my early experience of coming to Christ, I was so unbelievably excited about the fact that I had been born again, because I had searched for 36 years, I had tried and achieved a certain degree of success of climbing up this ladder and working for acceptance and working for success and working for money and and all of that type of thing, to find the emptiness of it. I remember thinking to myself when I was in Los Angeles and had this warehouse and pretty good sized business going. And I thought, gee, this is what I sought all my life, but I’m still empty inside. Bob George 14:08
And by the grace of God, Amy and I watched the television program one night, and we saw a group of young people talking about Jesus, and weren’t talking about religion, talking about Jesus. And it stirred my heart when I saw it. Remember this one guy who was just won the Olympics in weight lifting, and he said, All my life I searched for power, and I found it in the person of Jesus Christ. What’s he talking about? I’d been around religion, couldn’t stand it. This guy’s talking about Jesus talking about a relationship. I didn’t know that. I did not have a clue that this emptiness inside of me was because I was empty of God. Because you’re not born with God living in you. You’re not born. Born alive. Spiritually. God is alive. God is a living God. Not living in you. So if he’s not living in me, I’m dead to him. I didn’t know that. I was going to church. I’d do that, but that was all empty, totally empty, probably one of the most empty things I did go to church.
So here’s this longing that’s inside of you for meaning and purpose to life, and you’re just crying out, God, what’s it all about? And in that television show, I saw that, and that led Amy and I out to talk to Dr. Bright, and that day he led us to Christ. Did you know Bob that Jesus, Christ died for you? No, I didn’t know that. I mean, did I know that Jesus died on a cross? Oh, sure. I knew that I can pass that test. Did you know he was raised from dead? Yeah, I can pass that test too. But then have a clue what it meant? Not a clue. Not a clue. Had no idea sat in church all my life. Never one time ever heard that there was such a person as the Holy Spirit of God. Never, ever, never even heard that. Never heard that I was empty inside. Maybe occasionally heard you were a sinner, but I kind of bypassed that one. But never that I was empty, never that I was dead. Never, ever, ever heard that word, and I was dead spiritually. What do you mean, dead spiritually? It means the Spirit doesn’t live in you. That’s all. You’re human. Got a human, but Spirit of God doesn’t live in you. Never heard that. And on that day, for some reason, I understood that truth. Because when I came to Christ, I didn’t come to Christ just to get my sins forgiven. I came to Christ because I wanted new life. I wanted a new Bob George because I knew there was something wrong with me. It wasn’t just because of what I was doing. It’s because there’s something wrong with me, something wrong in here, and on that day, God gave me a new heart.
But you see with Solomon, that new heart had either not occurred yet when he wrote this, or he’s looking back, just like we’re doing now on what he was before knowing anything about God. Now, here’s some of the things he found. I saw something else under the sun. Verse 16, in the place of judgment, wickedness was there. And in the place of justice, wickedness was there. What’s he saying? He’s saying that whatever man is going to be trying to be just and exercise judgment. There’s going to be wickedness, there’s going to be situational thinking going on. To me, we’re living in it.
Back a few years ago, everything around Michael Jackson was the child molestation. It’s all gone, forgotten. Now everything is how wonderful. And the issue is, guys, he isn’t wonderful. He’s dead, and he wasn’t wonderful when he was alive. Good entertainer, but wonderful? None of us are wonderful. None of us, we just adulate people for some reason that are not worthy of adulation. So judgment, when we make judgments, it’s always predicated on something.
I remember the pastor that we used to go to a church with. He used to pound the Bible down through the top of the pulpit on the evil’s a divorce, until his daughter got divorced, and when that occurred, that was the end of the message. That was the end of the messages. No more. Situational ethics.
See, my friends, we’re living in a time today, and I’ll guarantee you this is going to happen, because the plans are being made in Washington for it to happen, and that is to declare that this book is a hate book already getting ready to be passed, believe me, hate book and any minister or anyone else who teaches that Jesus is the only way to God is going to be subject to arrest. And anyone who teaches to have the nerve to teach that homosexuality is a sin can be thrown in jail. It’s in the plans right now. You just wait. That’s what we’re that’s what we’re up against. That’s the kind of stupid thinking and judgment that is going on in our government today. Now, that is something. Now, folks, the Scripture says to obey your government. But whenever the government comes along and says to a man of God or a minister of the gospel that you cannot teach this book the way it reads, This guy’s going to jail, and if you got any guts to you, you’ll be with me. We’ll have a good time in there. But again, you’re going to, I’ll guarantee you, in my lifetime, we’re going to see it coming, and you and I are going to have to make decisions as to what we’re going to do with that, because you see, when the government comes and tells you that you cannot do something that you know is of God, you have no option. Quite frankly, you have no option except to stand up for what is right and what is truth. Whenever you start saying that the government knows what is truth and the Bible doesn’t, you are in sad, sad shape, but that’s going to happen. That’s what he’s talking about here, with judgment, the places of judgment.
And he said, So Solomon said, but I thought my heart, as much as I see, that when man is doing judgment, you’re going to find it all over the place. We’re not going to find good judgment because it’s it’s prejudice. Our judgment, many times, is prejudice. But he said, so I thought in my heart, God will bring judgment. He’s the one that has to judge. He is the only one who can judge. That’s why, in the Garden of Eden, the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil was he said, that’s the only one that you can’t eat of. Out of the rest of it, you’ve got, you’ve got total freedom to do whatever you want to. And I believe God functions that way. You say, Oh God, where do you want me to work? A place you want to. Well, who do you want me to marry? Whoever turns you on. I don’t think he’s sitting there planning everything some people do. I don’t. I think God gave us a free will and said, just like in the garden, here’s the trees. He didn’t get there and say, here’s the trees, but I’ll show you which one you’re going to eat out of. Did he he? Didn’t say that, or here’s the trees, but, but I’m going to tell you where you’re good. No, no. He said, No. I’m going to give you freedom to choose. Going to give you freedom to choose. Now there’s a danger with giving man a freedom to choose, and that is that you’re going to choose the wrong thing. But he said the only alternative to that is making a robot out of man, and I’m not going to do that. And so the sovereignty of God was that I’m going to sovereignly give you a free will. Now, I know there’s a danger connected with it, but I’m not going to make a robot out of you. If you’re going to love me, it’s going to be your choice to do so I’m not going to make you do it.
And so whenever man is involved in judgments, because that was the problem. You don’t eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil man. You do not have the ability to choose right from wrong and good from evil on your own, it’ll be situational sooner or later, just like the divorce, sooner or later, it’ll be situational. You can stand up and say that this Bible is true, and I believe what it says, and it’s not that homosexuality is the only sin on the world. It’s just one that’s kind of prevalent today. Why? Because the homosexuals are out trying to make it acceptable. That’s the irritant trying to make it acceptable. I mean, you tell me why somebody because they want to practice homosexuality. And I wish I could get into the details of that, but it’s too disgusting. Would want to have a parade on Disneyland, at Disneyland, just what is there to be proud of what you’re doing as a homosexual. Quit. Quit calling just the name what you’re doing. What do you do?And I’m proud of that. Let’s have a prade to Disneyland. So if you think that I’m going to call homosexuality anything except what God calls it, and that’s a sin. So is adultery, so is lying, so is worry, all of those things are sin. I’m not going to call it a healthy concern. Worry is a sin. When you say all of a sudden, What if your son became homosexual? Well, then I’ll change it. Don’t be so hard on it. No, no, no. If that’s the case, you’re just going to have to say that my son is unbelievably confused and he is unbelievably on a path of destruction. But I love him and I’ll be with him. And I’ll minister to him and love him till the day he dies or I die. But I’m never going to call that anything except what God calls it, and that’s sin. Maybe not be able to do it myself, but I’m not going to call it something different than what God calls it. So that’s what he’s talking here. In regard to judgment. Man cannot, is not capable of judging just because of those things. All of a sudden, I’m judging this. And all of a sudden my family, well, my family members, does it. Now, what am I going to do?
So God will bring judgment both the righteous and the wicked, and there will be a time for every activity and a time for every deed. He said, I also thought, here’s a man thinking, guys, here’s a person using their mind thinking constantly. My wife is constantly thinking. Her most famous thought is, I was just thinking. And I thought, Uh oh, now what’s going I it. As for men, God tests them, so that they may see that they are like animals. Now that’s a real discovery. As for men, God tests them so that they may see they’re like animals. Man’s fate is like that of the animals. The same fate awaits them both. One dies, the other dies. That’s one of the problems with having pets. They die. Break your heart.
That’s why Archie Bunker said that his famous, his famous pet, was goldfish. You always die before you get used to them. them. I liked Archie.
But it’s what he’s saying. We’re no different than animals. You die. Animals die. All have the same breath. Man has no advantage over an animal. Everything is meaningless. All go to the same place. All come from the dust and to the dust, all return.
