Classic Christianity – Raised To Rest P3 (03-26-25)
Bob George Presents: Raised To Rest P3
~ “Jesus answered and said to them, “This is the work of God, that you should believe in Him whom He has sent.” John 6:29
Today, people are saying they believe in Jesus, but are they really? Or are they giving lip service to the word of God? People say they believe in God, but mention the name of Jesus, and people choke on His name. Oh, don’t talk about religion or Jesus, sure you can mention God, but don’t mention Jesus, because that is religion and people come up with all sorts of excuses for not wanting to listen to the words of God. Satan has done a masterful job of brainwashing everyone, including the Christians, by having their mouths sealed and not mention the name of Jesus. And then people would rather talk about how such and such is going to save America. And Bob made it crystal clear, God doesn’t save countries, He saves individuals. Yet today, most everyone is so caught up in politics that they are responding in fear left and right. Satan strokes the flesh, in what appears to be good and in bad ways at the same time, both of which are sowing to the flesh. Satan wants you to be fearful of your country falling apart, and at the same time PRIDEFUL in the country you do have. And people think this is somehow good. They go out of their way to justify their fleshly thinking. People watch the news as though they are seeing truth. It’s nothing but brainwashing with lies. They spend more time watching the enemy of our soul on Tell-A-Vision or the online world than they do reading the word of God. People go to great lengths to drown their sorrows, in watching movies, sports, listening to music, and watching their 401Ks and retirement accounts go up and down daily than they do listening to God speak to them. They cheer on their favorite figures in technology and the news, which is nothing more than modern day soap operas. And it is ALL scripted by Satan. Satan is an expert at deception through one of his favorite games of Good Cop Bad Cop. People say they don’t like watching soap operas, but they will spend hours upon hours watching what they think is truth and yet it is nothing but lies upon lies. And this should NOT be the case, but unfortunately it is. Because Satan is very very good at stroking the flesh of people today. And we have ALL fallen for it. None of us are immune to Satan’s brainwashing lies. And when a person is brainwashed, they do NOT know that they are brainwashed. But there is a solution to ALL of this.
Jesus wants us to place complete Faith in Him. For it is Faith from first to last is how He wants us to live. He wants us to Rest in Him. He wants our focus to be on Him. Count everything else as dung, except knowing Him. And ALL of us lack true Wisdom, and True Wisdom only comes from God. So ask God for wisdom and it will be given in great abundance to you without finding fault. James 1:5 For whoever is reading this, ask God, this very moment in time, for God to show you the Truth of what is going on. Humble yourself and ask for wisdom directly from God. Lean NOT on your own understanding of anything today.
For the gospel reveals the righteousness of God that comes by faith from start to finish, just as it is written: “The righteous will live by faith.” Romans 1:17
But indeed, therefore, I also count all things to be loss because of the excelling knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, because of whom I have lost all things, and consider them as dung, that I may gain Christ. Philippians 3:8
…..
And a certain ruler asked Him, saying, “Good Teacher, having done what, will I inherit eternal life?”
And Jesus said to him, “Why do you call Me good? No one is good, except God alone.
~ “Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.” 1 John 5:12
~ Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life; the one believing in Me, even if he should die, he will live. And everyone living and believing in Me shall never die, to the age. Do you believe this?” John 11:25,26

John 13:
Now before the feast of the Passover, Jesus, knowing that His hour had come that He would depart out of this world to the Father, having loved the own who were in the world, He loved them to the end. And supper taking place, the devil already having put into the heart of Judas son of Simon Iscariot that he should betray Him, knowing that the Father has given Him all things into the hands, and that He came forth from God and He is going to God, He rises from the supper and lays aside the garments. And having taken a towel, He girded Himself. After that, He pours water into the basin, and He began to wash the feet of the disciples and to wipe them with the towel with which He was girded.
Then He comes to Simon Peter, who says to Him, “Lord, do You wash my feet?”
Jesus answered and said to him, “What I do, you do not know presently, but you will know after these things.”
Peter says to Him, “Never shall You wash my feet, to the age.”
Jesus answered him, “Unless I wash you, you have no part with Me.”
Simon Peter says to Him, “Lord, not my feet only, but also the hands and the head.”
Jesus says to him, “The one having been bathed has no need to wash, except the feet, but is wholly clean. And you all are clean, but not all.” For He knew the one who was betraying Him; on account of this He said, “You are not all clean.”
Therefore when He had washed their feet and taken His garments, and having reclined again, He said to them, “Do you know what I have done to you? You call Me Teacher and Lord, and you say rightly, for so I am. Therefore if I, the Lord and the Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash the feet of one another. For I gave you a pattern, that as I did to you, you also should do. Truly, truly, I say to you, a servant is not greater than his master, nor a messenger greater than the one having sent him. If you know these things, you are blessed if you do them.
I speak not about all of you. I know whom I chose; but it is that the Scripture may be fulfilled: ‘The one eating My bread has lifted up his heel against Me.’ I am telling you from this time, before it comes to pass, so that when it comes to pass you should believe that I am He. Truly, truly, I say to you, the one receiving whomever I shall send, receives Me; and the one receiving Me, receives the One having sent Me.”
Having said these things, Jesus was troubled in spirit, and He testified and said, “Truly, truly, I say to you that one of you will betray Me.”
The disciples began to look upon one another, being uncertain of whom He is speaking. There was reclining one of His disciples whom Jesus loved in the bosom of Jesus. Therefore Simon Peter motions to him, to ask who it is about whom He is speaking? Then he thus having leaned on the breast of Jesus, says to Him, “Lord, who is it?”
Then Jesus answers, “It is he to whom I will dip the morsel and will give him.” Then having dipped the morsel, He takes it and gives it to Judas, son of Simon Iscariot. And after the morsel, then Satan entered into him.
Therefore Jesus says to him, “What you do, do quickly.” Now none of those reclining knew why He spoke this to him. For some were thinking, since Judas had the money bag, that Jesus is saying to him, “Buy what things we have need of for the feast,” or that he should give something to the poor. Therefore having received the morsel, he went out immediately. And it was night. John:13
Pray to God:
Do you really want to know the WHOLE Truth of what is going on today?
“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened to you.” Matthew 7:7
Lord Jesus, teach me the truth of the world today and give me the wisdom to know the truth and identify the lies of the devil. Thank you God.”
“~ And so Judas was going through the motions. He liked what he saw in Jesus, but he didn’t believe what he heard from Jesus. I like what he’s doing, and it appears to me that he’s got some shots to save Israel, because that’s what I’m interested in, God save America. And you have Christian organizations today that that’s all you hear about is, let’s bring America back to God. Said God doesn’t save America For God so loved America that He gave His only begotten Son. God saves people. He doesn’t save countries. And all we’re interested in is God come back before a depression hits here again. I don’t want to live in inconvenience. That’s why people are just absolutely nuts over this y2k deal, just going nuts. Why? I may have an inconvenience. My goodness, I may not be able to go to Brahms.” ~ Bob George

Now, even after Jesus had done all these miraculous signs in the in their presence, they still would not believe him, and this was fulfilled to fulfill the word of Isaiah, the prophet Lord who has believed our message, and to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed. For this reason they could not believe because Isaiah sells says elsewhere he has blinded their eyes and deaden their hearts so that they can neither see with their eyes nor understand with their hearts, nor in turn, would I heal them. And Isaiah said this because he saw Jesus glory, and they spoke about him.
Folks, we’ve talked about it before that the same sun that hardens clay, melts wax, the same sun. So when you’re talking about hardening their hearts, the sun is the sun, it just has a different effect on who it falls on, and when the sun falls on a piece of clay, it hardens it. When that sun falls on a piece of wax, it melts it. And so when the truth of God’s word fell upon your heart, and your heart was moldable and humble to recognize your need, that I have a need, that I am not self sufficient, nor am I brilliant. People come up with this wanting to be brilliant. Told them the three most brilliant nations in the world. 1941 was Japan, Germany and the United States of America, bombing the daylights out of each other with their brilliance. People say, I’m brilliant. I say in what? You can be a brilliant physician and not have a brain in your head about anything else. Is that true or not? So don’t think you can be smart and know everything. The smartest man that ever lived was Solomon. Read Ecclesiastes sometime and see what he has say about all that we trust in our intellect. He said, Brother, you’re trusting in the wrong thing. What he’s saying here is when God hardened the heart of Pharaoh and hardened the heart, it wasn’t that. He said, I’m going to harden your heart so that you won’t believe he said, No, I’ve got a message that, because of your own pride, instead of resting in my message, you’re trying to add to it. And your heart is hard and it’s going to harden, and you’re not going to rest in my message, you’re going to try to add to it. But when that sun falls upon a piece of wax, it melts it, and we say, Lord Jesus, have mercy upon me, a sinner. And when it falls on clay, it says, Oh God, I’m glad that I’m not a sinner like that guy. Where’s your soil?
So he goes ahead to say, yet at that time, many, even among the leaders, believed in him, there’s the there’s the heart of wax, but because of the Pharisees, they would not confess their faith, for fear they would be put out of the synagogue, for they loved the praise of being more than the praise of God. So what’s the problem? I like the praise of man. I like to be accepted by my group, and I like to be called a Baptist or a Catholic or Presbyterian. I like that, and I like for people to think that I know what they teach. And I like the fact that I can go in and I can do everything just right, and I know where to put my hand in the water, and I know how to sing, just as I am at the altar calls every word, every verse I can sing. I can even sing AmaZing Grace by heart. I know how to do all those things, and I like that acceptance. I don’t care whether they’re teaching truth or not. I just like to be one of them. Is that unusual for us to want to be accepted? No, it is a built in God given need. Do we realize that you have a need as strong as horseradish for acceptance? Who gave that to you? God in His creation, when He created man, Adam, which was passed on to us, empty and in need of acceptance. What’s the problem? I’m looking for acceptance in the wrong places. I’m looking for acceptance from men, rather than acceptance from God, because if you come to know your acceptance by God, it takes away that insatiable need to be accepted by men. Do we understand that? So these people said, I believe in Jesus, but I’m not going to confess my faith in him. I’m not going to let anyone know that I believe in Jesus, because if you do, I’m not going to be accepted.
Now, folks, I had to make decisions like this in regard to what I came to understand, in regard to the finality of the cross, as it relates to one verse of scripture and from one verse of scripture, First John, one nine, and realizing the truth that cannot be a believers passage, it is impossible for it to be a believer’s passage, because Jesus said, it’s finished. Did he not? God said, I’ve rested. Did he not? So how are you going to add or get God to do what he said, I’ve already done? That. One verse of scripture has cost me what we thought were some of our best friends who just absolutely turn their back, walk away. Why? Listen if I believe what what what he’s saying, I am not going to be in line with the Baptist and I’d rather be accepted by them than would have him as a friend. Lost best friends come down to a point of realizing that I’m a bone of contention, and so it is better for me to get out and to get out on neutral ground and teach truth than to be accepted by the people that I was accepted by and financed by the people, very nicely by the people, and to walk away and go on neutral ground. Easier for me than to be in a place that I know I was in contention. Now that was not an issue of salvation, folks. That ought to be somewhat of a peripheral issue is keeping in fellowship with God. I mean, that’s a little bit more of a peripheral issue than salvation. When you’re dealing with a controversy on salvation, you’re dealing at the very core of the Christian life. You’re not dealing with a peripheral issue there. You’re not even dealing with an issue like tongues, or an issue like, well, I know, I know you’re saved, but you got to stay in fellowship with God. We’re not dealing with that guy that’s peripheral. You’re dealing with those items, some of the ones we talked about earlier, you’re dealing with the very core of what salvation is. If you got a controversy there, you got a controversy.
So he said this, when a man believes in me, he does not believe in me only, but in the One who sent me. So when you’re denying me, you’re denying the Father. Now how many are you going to say that I don’t believe in the Father certainly wouldn’t have said that to a Hebrew. Do you think a Hebrew would say I don’t believe in the Father? You’re kidding me. No way. That’s the God. That’s the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob that we also refer to as the Father and Jesus say, you deny me. You’re denying him. They say, Oh no, we’re not. No, yes, you are. No, I’m not. Yes, you are.
Now, he says, when he looks at me, when he looks at me, he sees the One who sent me. I’ve come into the world as a light so that no one who believes in me should stay in darkness. Does God want man to stay in darkness? Absolutely not. He wants you to come into the light. Now, what does it say in the scripture? That we have been translated transferred from darkness to what? Light. That when you are in the light. Now, what is darkness? He says that is lost. People who are lost claim to be in the light. He said, No, no, no. If you’re in the light, you’re saved and you can’t get in darkness anymore. He also said that if you are claimed to be in the light but you don’t love your brother, you’re a liar. He also said, if you’re claiming to be in the light, and you deny that you have a sin nature, you’re a liar truth. isn’t in you. He also said that if you’re in darkness, and you say that you’re in the light, and you believe something so contrary to what I’ve said, You’re lying. The truth is not in you. So he’s saying, if we are in the light, as He God is in the light, God is light, and in him is what? No darkness at all. There’s a byproduct of that, that you and God have fellowship with one another, and you also going to have fellowship with us, because we are like minded. We are not unlike we are not like minded with you, because you’re claiming you don’t have a sin nature. We know better. The truth tells you that’s true. You’re sitting over there saying that you don’t need to love your brother. God says if you don’t love him, something’s wrong with you. So we’re talking about the fact that love becomes the criteria in regard to this life. And you can be so accurate and think that we’re so accurate in our theology and be mean as a Hornet, and we can look good in our Sunday school classes, and we can look good in our church service. It isn’t hard to fake it for an hour, and we can grin and just shake it. How you doing, brother? Good to see you. God bless you. Get in the car with your kids and knock their heads back, heads kids heads are knocking on his finger. What happened to dad? You know, wish I could keep him in church. God says, I want you to learn to love one another. I want you to learn what love is, and it’s not a feeling, it’s an action on behalf of another person. So when I find myself impatient, am I functioning in love? No, it doesn’t make a difference how I feel. I’m not functioning in love when I’m impatient. Do I ever get impatient? Well, of course, so do you. But what does it tell us we’re not walking in love. When we’re easily angered are we walking in love? No, because it says love is not easily angered. We say, I’m always easily angered. Well, then you’re not walking in love. It’s not a real time. You don’t have to sit back and analyze yourself. And so what God is trying to show us is, if you’re a child of God, you’re going to recognize that. You’re also going to recognize that in a flesh, I’m incapable of doing that, but there’s something inside that’s going to recognize that says this is not contrary to where this is totally contrary to who I am.

Bob George 14:37
Now to the lost person, he doesn’t need that kind of conviction. He kind of thinks that’s neat. No one’s going to spit in my soup. Rather, I practice the Golden Rule, do unto others before they do unto you. That is the mindset of a lost person. Shoot, I used to come home tell Amy I so proud of myself. I just really ripped somebody apart. I really gave him a piece of my mind. Made me feel so macho. Nobody’s going to get after me. I’ll show him. Had no conviction at all that that was bad. That’s good. If you don’t stand up for yourself, who’s going to stand up for you? Don’t give me that turn the cheek. I’ll fix you so you won’t be able to hit mine. So he said, If you don’t believe in the Father you don’t believe in me. When he looks at me, he sees the one who sent me. I have come to the world as a light so that no one who believes in me should stay in darkness. I don’t want you in darkness. As for the person who hears my word and does not keep them, I do not judge him, for I didn’t come to judge the world, but to save it, there’s a judge for the one who rejects Me and does not accept my words, that very word which I spoke will condemn him at the last day. So in other words, I’m not going to judge you. You will be judged, but it will be at the last day. And you know what that is? It’s called the Great White Throne Judgment. And you know what’s in there? That’s the names of those who have accepted Him and His word, not added to it or subtracted from it, but resting in it. Your name is going to be in a book of life, and if you remain in darkness, you’re not going to be in that book. I’m not judging that I came to tell you truth. Who’s going to judge is the one who knows whether you believe that truth or whether you don’t believe that truth. And when that occurs, your name will either be in the Lamb’s book of life or it will not be. Now, you will not be in the Lamb’s book of life because of what you’ve done or not done. You’ll be in the Lamb’s book of life, because what you have believed and what you haven’t believed. And to those who believed in me, believe in the Father You have also, which we will study in a moment, have believed the testimony of the Holy Spirit of God. Now, folks, that’s why Jesus said that you can blaspheme against me, but you blaspheme against the Holy Spirit. That’s it. Now, why is the Holy Spirit more important than the Father and the Son? No, but that’s the end of the testimony. You’ve now exhausted God’s testimony.
The Father came and proclaimed me all through the Old Testament about the coming Messiah. You, what you’re doing is taking half of who the Messiah is. You like the reigning Messiah, but you don’t like the suffering Messiah. You’re not looking for who I came, who I sent, for the salvation of your soul. You’re looking for the salvation of your nation. You’re looking for the convenience of physical convenience, and you don’t realize your spiritual destitution. I came to give you life because you are spiritually dead. You’re like a stinking corpse. And so Jesus came, and he said, When you deny the Father who testified about the son, then you’ve denied the Father. The son, came and appeared before you, and you’ve denied him, and now the Holy Spirit is testifying about Him, and you’re denying his testimony. There’s no more testimony. There’s not another part of the Trinity to send to you. If you can’t believe the three, you can’t believe anyone. The same thing Jesus said, If you cannot believe you’re looking for a sign and a wonder. If you cannot believe me, after I have been raised from the dead, check it out, folks, check the evidence. I’m not in that tomb. If you can’t believe that, what do you take? You think you’re going to believe me because of some physical healing. If you can’t believe me when I was raised from the dead, if you cannot believe the miracle that I did, why do you think you’re going to believe the miracle of what you did? And gave me some credit for? He said, You’re an adulterous generation always looking for a sign. You don’t need a sign. We’ve already got a sign. It’s called the resurrection of Christ, Jesus. If that isn’t good enough for you, nothing else is going to do.
Now He said, I’m not going to judge that, because the Father is going to for I did not speak my own words, but the Father who sent Me commanded me what to say and how to say it, and I know that his command leads to eternal life. So whatever I say is just what the Father has told me to say. So in other words, don’t blame me. The Fathers, this is a testimony from God the Father. I’m just telling you what he said. It. And so why did he say that? Because, well, you’re saying, well, that’s just you Jesus saying that, but the Father, we know what the father believes. We’ve been studying him for years. He said, If you saw if you accepted me, you’d have accepted the Father, because I and the Father are what? One, and when you’ve seen me, you’ve seen the Father. So to deny me is to deny the Father.
Now Jesus went on and he washed his disciples feet. Now, what was the meaning of that? It was to show the attitude of servitude that he was saying, I didn’t come to be served, but to serve. Now, people want to take this washing of the feet to justify First John one nine, and they’ll say, Well, yeah, yeah, you were cleansed at the cross, but your feet still get dirty, so you need your feets washed. And so that’s what that means, is every time you confess your sin, you get your feet washed. Ever heard that one? Yeah, that’s what, that’s what all this is about. Now, you see that has nothing to do with that. What he was trying to show us is this is the lowest of a servant’s job is to wash the feet. Peter came along said, hold, hold on a minute, Lord, you’re not going to wash my feet. Jesus said, If you don’t let me wash your feet, then you don’t have any place with me. And Peter said, in that case, man, give me a shower. And so he recognized something again, it’s finished. It’s finished. Rest. It’s finished. There isn’t any more forgiveness. There isn’t any more any of that stuff. I gave you an example that I have served you with every ounce of my soul, and now serve one another. What’s it mean wash each other’s feet? Be a servant to one another. No job too small for me, but go and be a servant. Serve one another. Be thinking about what I can do for you. It’s not ask not what the church can do for you, but ask what you can do for the church. Ask not what the country can do for you, but what you can do for the country. So in other words, be thinking about, how can I serve, instead of how can I be being served? And so He taught them that lesson, again, visibly, always with these visible demonstrations, object lessons, as to what this means.
And then he predicts his betrayal. He says someone’s going to betray me. And they ask you, Who is it, Lord? And he said this down in verse 26 verse 13, it’s the one whom I will give this piece of bread when I’ve dipped it in the dish. Then dipping the piece of bread, he gave it to Judas Iscariot, son of Simon. And as soon as Judas took the bread, Satan entered into him. He said something to him. He said, What you’re about to do? Do it quickly if you’re getting ready to betray me, have at it. Don’t sit around here and act like everything’s okay. Don’t sit around praising the Lord and plotting in your mind as to how you’re going to turn me in. Do it quickly. But no one at the meal understood why Jesus said this to him, and since Judas had the charge of the money. Some thought Jesus was telling him to buy what was needed for the feast, or to give something to the poor, but as soon as Judas had taken the bread, he went out and it was night. How many years do you think Judas had his hand in the till? Do you think Jesus knew that, but he still loved him. Do you think Jesus was joyful that Judas heart was as obviously, as hard as a brick. Now again, folks, had Judas been exposed to the totality of the teaching of Jesus? Yes. Had he tasted, as it said, the Holy Spirit, tasted the goodness of God? Yeah, he had heard all those things. He was a taster, but not a drinker. He was a professor, but not a possessor. He was a follower, but he was not a disciple.
And so Judas was going through the motions. That’s why people are just absolutely nuts over this y 2k deal, just going nuts. Why? I may have an inconvenience. My goodness, I may not be able to go to Brahms.
See, we’re pretty spoiled. Amy’s dad ate the bottom of a broom one time to stay alive. They cooked grass to stay alive. I think that’s a bigger problem that we’re going to have at y2k, did God provide? Sure did. Is God going to provide for you? Could there be some glitches in life? Sure, is there going to be some glitches? Teach us to depend upon those dumb computers anyway. But see all of that is fear. Now, who puts fear in our hearts? Satan. So for Christians to walk around in a panic over an issue like that is ludicrous. When the Lost World is as calm as can be, but Christians are making a ton of money and the lost world isn’t. And then people say, Oh, it’s the end of the world coming. Well, praise Jesus. I hope it is the end of the world. That’s when we get to go to be with him and get out of this place. Why would that be fearful? Now, the lost ought to be fearful over that one, but they don’t believe in the end of the world. We do, and we’re fearful, there’s something wrong there. So what God is saying to us is, why don’t you put your faith where it belongs, dependency upon me.

John 3:3
3 Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.”
