Jesus Gives You Life for He Alone Has Life to Give

Ernie called from Strasbourg, Pennsylvania. He was complementing Bob about a message he had heard Bob give. A hell and brimstone message about heaven and hell.

Bob mentioned these are messages of truth, that people need to hear.

Ernie went on to ask a question in regards to Revelation 22:19 “and if anyone takes away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book” is this dealing with cults? I kind-of get the feeling with that, in the way of adding…

Revelation 22:19
¹⁹ And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

Bob explains it. Anyone who takes away or adds to the gospel, Paul says they have a different gospel which is no gospel at all.

But that isn’t the issue. Acts isn’t a doctrinal book. It wasn’t intended to be a doctrinal book.

Galatians 1:6-9
⁶ I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you to live in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel— 7 which is really no gospel at all. Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ. 8 But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let them be under God’s curse! 9 As we have already said, so now I say again: If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let them be under God’s curse!

What Paul is saying is that this is the gospel that God sent to you, and you can not mess with it! You do not add baptism to the gospel. You do not add tongues to the gospel. You don’t add church membership to the gospel. You don’t add traditions to the gospel. This is the gospel it says that saves you. Then he goes on to exactly tell us what the gospel is. The death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. That was our problem, sin that caused death had to be corrected. What had to be corrected? The sin that caused death? No that had to be taken away. The problem was death. And the only way death could be corrected is life. And the only life to give is the resurrected life of Christ Jesus. Buddha can’t give you life. Muhammad can’t give you life. Smith can’t give you life. Mormons can’t give you life. Jesus Gives You Life!

When you add anything to that, or come up with a different Jesus, to the one that is in the scriptures, which the Mormons have done, or Jehovah Witnesses or whoever else it might be, he says that’s no gospel and you are going to be forever cursed. And so these people are lost. They are not saved. If I add anything to the gospel and believe that is the gospel, then I am not saved. Why? Because that is not the gospel. You can not add to the gospel. And it’s the same thing in the book of Revelation, you can not add to it or take away from it. For this is a testimony of God.

That’s what’s wrong with people. They start in with their liberal thinking, thinking oh well, let’s add a little bit of water baptism and thinking it doesn’t hurt anything. YES IT DOES! According to Paul, it is no gospel at all!

For example, Seventh Day Adventists. There isn’t anything in the bible in regards to the gospel. So there’s no salvation connected to seventh day. but they emphasize. What does the “Church of Christ” emphasize? Baptismal regeneration. That’s all they talk about; why? They don’t talk about Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, but baptism, baptism, baptism. People that want to add tongues to salvation; what do they want to talk about? And you can’t get away from the conversation of tongues. So what ever you add to the gospel is what you focus on. We are so egotistical, that this is about what I got, or what I did. And it is not about what you did, the gospel is about what He did. And now that when ever you add to what you did, to what He did, you’ve perverted the gospel.

Everyone has been given enough faith to believe. The issue is what is the object of our faith. Jesus is the object of our faith and we have the privilege to know Him. It’s like people asking the question is Catholicism the only religion or Baptist the only religion; yet He didn’t come here to form a religion. Those religions are nothing. God didn’t come to form a religion He came to have us have a relationship with Christ. He didn’t perform to have people walking around in robs. He didn’t come to have any of that! He called people to a personal relationship. It’s for a personal relationship for YOU!

The lost were never in the book of Life to begin with.

George called from Corpus Christi, Texas. He had a concern with pastors and teachers teaching that we would be held accountable for everything that comes out of our mouths. That scared him to think of that.

Bob clears up this. People sit around with all these accountability groups, yet we are so dumb we wouldn’t know if we are accountable or not. God tells us that we are not to be sinning against the knowledge of truth. God made us pure, we don’t make ourselves that way. We live as a child of God because He made us one. We walk by faith. Most people thing about their accountability are not living according to truth. They are sinning against the knowledge of truth. They are not walking by faith. And without faith it is impossible to please God.

Hebrews 11:6
⁶ And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.

If there were any more forgiveness required by God, then that would mean Jesus forgot something at the cross. It’s an insult to Jesus work on the cross. In Bob’s opinion to deny you have eternal life is an insult to God and the cross and the resurrection. Salvation is being saved from the consequences of sin which is death. And salvation is life. The cross took away that which caused death, which is sin. And that’s why all our sins have been placed behind His back never to see them again. They were all judged, the verdict was guilty, the punishment was death; and Jesus said I’ll take it for them.

The only sin attributable to man is the unbelief. That’s the only one that God is looking at today. He is looking for faith.

If you are in Christ Jesus, He has given us everything. We are not going to live the perfect life because sin is still in our body. Our weaknesses keep us dependent of God. When we are absent from the body and present with the Lord we will see things like Him. Right now we see things hazy as it says through a dim lit glass. Everything we have is a gift from God.

John called from Austin, Texas. He had a question on tithing, and asked Bob if it was for today. John said he had read a lot of scriptures about tithing.

Bob explains to him that there is nothing in the new Testament for tithing. Then John mentioned like Job, and Bob explains to him that is the old testament.

We walk by faith in the new covenant, not the old. The new covenant doesn’t have anything about tithing. Corinthians talks about free will giving. So why are all these people dragging tithing from the old testament into the new? Tell people instead to give joyfully. Why are we so stupid to realize we are living in grace. The tithe was for the Levitical priesthood. It’s sin to keep putting ourselves back under the law, because that is not faith.

Romans 8:14 and Galatians 5:18 sum it up.

Romans 8:14
¹⁴ For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God.
Galatians 5:18
¹⁸ But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.

So what does this mean? If you are under the law, then you are not being led by the Spirit. And if you are led by the Spirit then you are not under the law. And if you are not led by the Spirit, then you are not a son of God. You can’t be led by the law and be children of God. So you can’t be a son of God, because you’ve never died to what killed you. You haven’t died to the law and haven’t come alive to what He said to come alive to, and that is Christ Jesus!

And so in Romans 10:4 it says:

Romans 10:4
⁴ For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believes.

Why does he say that? Because there is no righteousness to those that don’t believe.

So we’ve been freed from the law.

The next caller, David called from Houston, Texas. He had a followup question in regards to perfection.

Bob explains that we have been made perfect in Christ. Yet in our thinking of in and of myself, thinking that I am perfect based on what I am doing or not doing is what the comparison is in regards to the topic. They deceive themselves thinking they can be perfect in their own selves.

We are made perfect in God’s sight (complete). Perfected or made perfect means to be made complete.

Now we get to participate in that. The point though is we live in the flesh. So our weakness keep us dependent on Christ.

The last caller of the day, Diana called from Lomita, California. She was a first time listener to the program and caller too. Her question was in regards to King James bible being a translation too. She had a run-in with a daughter-in-law in Tennessee that didn’t want to listen to the reasoning from Diana pointing out that the KJV was simply a translation of the original language of the bible too. The daughter-in-law was saying that KJV was the only true bible. She was frustrated with people like this.

Bob agrees with her. These people are nitwits and pinheads. People don’t have a clue. They think that KJV English is the only thing that is right. They discount the German, the French language translations and all the other translations. So what are those poor souls going to use for God’s word? They don’t have a KJV translation. And so people will say, “most people speak English anyways, as though it doesn’t matter.”

People stand at the foot of the KJV translation instead of the original language.
