Stop Praying Like the Heathen Do

~ So many people pray the Lord’s prayer as though they think God likes it when they pray that prayer. The Catholics have their rosary beads, where they repeat the same thing over and over again, and the Protestants have their own vain repetitions of the Lord’s prayer also in their “church services.” And most don’t give it a second thought as to what Jesus said NOT to do. First of all, the Lord’s prayer is NOT for any of us. Jesus gave it as an example of how to pray, NOT what to pray. And furthermore, that prayer was actually answered by the Father in Christ Jesus. And if you think you can use the Lord’s prayer as a request to God, you’ve been deceived beyond measure by Satan. For we live on this side of the cross, the New Covenant, the New agreement between God and Man, where He said, “Their sins and lawless acts I will remember no more and where these are forgiven, there is no longer any sacrifice for sins.” God is NOT remembering your sins. Ne is NOT counting your sins against you. Place faith in the finished work of the cross, and quit listening to the lies of Satan and his ministers. For time is short at hand. Start sharing the TRUTH with others. Faith says, “Thank You” to God.

~ And praying, do not use vain repetitions like the pagans, for they think that in their many words they will be heard. ^{Matthew 6:7}

~ “Well, Nelson, first of all, Jesus didn’t teach His disciples a prayer. He taught them how to pray. And there’s a world of difference in the two now we’ve taken that and made a prayer out of it. You never saw any of the apostles praying that prayer again, or any of Paul’s writings, or any of Peter’s writings or anybody else’s writings, it wasn’t given. As Jesus said, to be prayed like the heathen pray, taking a prayer and praying it over and over and over again, which he warned them before he told them how to pray. So what do we do with his teachings on how to pray, take the prayer that he gave us an example and pray it over and over and over and over again, like the heathen do, total violation of what he said, Jesus was under the law, he taught under the law, he was born of a virgin, born of a woman under the law, Nelson. And he was under that law until such time that he brought in the New Covenant. And the New Covenant did not go into effect until the day that Jesus died, not while he lived. And so in teaching the disciples on how to pray, while he was there, he also in so doing, buried them, as he did with everything that he taught. Because if you’ll go on, and this is where people make mistakes they memorize verses. Nelson, I would venture to say that the majority of people today that have the Lord’s Prayer memorized, and some a few other passages do not have a clue what came before or what came after. We just memorize verses and think we’ve got it down. If you keep reading, what does it say? If for if we do not forgive our brother here on Earth that we can see, your Father in heaven will not forgive you. Now, how are you going to bring that together with after the cross? Where God was in Christ reconciling the world unto himself not counting the sins against them? How are you going to bring those two together? Well, you can’t say that he died for the not only for our sins, but the sins of the whole world out of one side of your mouth. But if you do not forgive your brother, he won’t forgive you. That’s a contradiction. Either the Bible contradicts itself or it explains itself. And that’s the explanation for why what appears to be a contradiction but what what I was saying earlier Nelson what is what I think I’m finding out more and more is most people never get beyond the Gospels. They’re five miles wide and a quarter inch deep. They never get into the writings of Paul, the book of Hebrews, the writings of Peter, I gotta think that to read those books, leave me alone on that. Just let me read the gospels, that everything Jesus said I can’t obey, but I hope no one finds out. But we’re shallow we do not want to, to grow. And that’s what what Paul said. He said, You should be teaching by now but he said you’re you’re still feeding on milk. You’re not growing. You’re still, you’re still back with the gospel. You’re still back with your salvation, and have never grown beyond your salvation experience. And that’s really the truth. You cannot grow apart from reading of Paul’s writings and of Peter’s writings and the other apostles. That’s the explanation on what this New Covenant is all about. But as far as the forgiveness issue goes, there’s the explanation? It was Old Covenant instead of New Covenant. Why? Because Jesus was under the Old Covenant. And he would remain under the Old Covenant until the day he died, where he can usher in the new.” ~ Bob George
