Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P930 (05-03-24)
Jesus is Our Sabbath Rest Everyday
~ Today, is our Sabbath. Everyday is our Sabbath. Jesus is our Sabbath. And we are told to rest in Him. The old covenant of a Sabbath day was a picture for us to learn and look towards the future Sabbath rest we have in Jesus Christ, which is for Today. Many people that are NOT saved, think they are obeying a particular day of the week in order to get on their best dress clothes, go down to the corner of walk and don’t walk, and file into a building built by human hands, and think they are worshipping God based on what they are doing, either on a Saturday, Sunday or whatever day of the week they want to be a hypocrite on. All these people are acting so holier-than-thou, based on what they do. They even refuse to listen to the Holy Spirit teach them truth. They have never entered into the Sabbath rest. And quite frankly, they don’t have a clue what the Sabbath rest is either. They don’t know the True Jesus, who is the Sabbath rest for everyone who is in Christ Jesus. So don’t let anyone judge you based on a day of the week. Therefore, be sure to enter into His Sabbath rest TODAY. And God tells us in Scripture too.
Ask God to give you wisdom and to show you the Truth of the world we live in today.
Lord Jesus, teach me the TRUTH of the world we live in today and the Truth of You.
~ Therefore, while the promise of entering His rest still stands, let us be careful that none of you be deemed to have fallen short of it. For we also received the good news just as they did; but the message they heard was of no value to them, since they did not share the faith of those who comprehended it. Now we who have believed enter that rest. As for the others, it is just as God has said: “So I swore on oath in My anger, ‘They shall never enter My rest.’ ” And yet His works have been finished since the foundation of the world. For somewhere He has spoken about the seventh day in this manner: “And on the seventh day God rested from all His works.” And again, as He says in the passage above: “They shall never enter My rest.” Since, then, it remains for some to enter His rest, and since those who formerly heard the good news did not enter because of their disobedience, God again designated a certain day as “Today,” when a long time later He spoke through David as was just stated: “Today, if you hear His voice, do not harden your hearts.” For if Joshua had given them rest, God would not have spoken later about another day. There remains, then, a Sabbath rest for the people of God. For whoever enters God’s rest also rests from his own work, just as God did from His. Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will fall by following the same pattern of disobedience." Hebrews 4:1-11
“The Sabbath is called a foreshadowing of the reality that’s in Christ, Christ is the Lord of the Sabbath. And the Sabbath was made for man, man wasn’t made for the Sabbath. And so what you under what the you understand is when Christ came that the Sabbath became not a day of the week, but every day of the week, it’s called the Sabbath rest, that he wants us to enter into. When you stop to think about a rest, we think about a day of rest for our bodies, which Christ wants us to have. But see, we we kept down on the fact of, of what day it was now in Israel, the Sabbath would start at five o’clock or sundown, actually on Friday. That’s right. And so you know, you’d have to say the Sabbath is there our day starts at 1am in the morning, or 1201 in the morning. And so, so the issue is, it’s not a day of the issue is Virgil, it’s not a day of the week it is it that was called a foreshadowing of the reality that is in Christ Jesus. And so were to enter into a Sabbath rest. Now let’s read the scripture on that. In Hebrews three, and whom did God swear that they would never enter his rest, and he’s not talking about day of the week, as we would put it down, but every day not, if not to those who disobeyed. So we see that they were not able to enter because of their unbelief. Therefore, since the promise of entering his rest, still stands, let us be careful that none of you have found to fallen short of it, there remains then a Sabbath rest for the people of God, for anyone who enters God’s rest also rest from his own work, just as God did from his Let us therefore make every effort to enter that rest. Now, he’s not talking about a day of rest, he’s talking about resting from your works just as God did from his In other words, God has completed everything for you and me. And what does he want us to do rest in it, not one day, a week, but every day of the week. And so entering into the Sabbath Rest is coming to a point where you’re living in total dependency upon the completed work of Christ Jesus in your life, where he has given you everything that you need for life and godliness. And therefore rest in that walk in that rejoice in that and quit trying to add as the Galatians did to what Christ is completed, otherwise, you’re going to hear from God, you’re a fool. And on and on and asking you hear the question, Did you receive the Holy Spirit of God by believing the law or by believing what you heard? And the answer to that is believing what I heard, we said, well, then after starting in the spirit, why are you now trying to perfect yourself by human effort? He wants us to realize what God has completed for us and to rest and that truth a day of the week has no bearing at all, on the Christian life. They were supposed to be entering into the rest every day. So what day we park our body for an hour or two? What in the world is it make an ounce of difference? And that’s what Colossians says. Don’t let anyone judge you by a Sabbath day. It is merely a foreshadowing of the reality that is found in Christ Jesus.” ~ Bob George
