God is Not a Forgiveness Vending Machine

~ Most people believe the lie of ongoing forgiveness by God. They refuse to place faith in the finished work of Jesus on the cross and even calling Jesus a liar by their very actions. They wrongly believe and teach that 1 John 1:9 means to ask for forgiveness from God. First off, the word confess in the Greek means to agree with God. It never meant to ask for forgiveness. Yet that is still how the word confess is improperly understood in the world today and the worst offenders of that false teaching is within the organized church. Most people believe they plop in their prayer requests to God for forgiveness and out magically pops forgiveness by God. They even believe in several types of forgiveness, “positional forgiveness” and “experiential forgiveness” or whatever terms people are assigning to the various forms of forgiveness being taught today. Can you imagine going up to Jesus in the flesh today, and say, “Jesus, I know you forgave me positionally at the cross, now please forgive me experientially today.” Can you imagine what the response of Jesus would be? It is finished. There is no more forgiveness required by God and to ask for something he has already done is not faith, it is unbelief based on the teaching of man. Instead we ought to trust in the word of God and the Holy Spirit if He does live in you to teach us ALL truth today. Understand the following:

JESUS DIED…
1. For all (1st Timothy 2:6; Isaiah 53:6).
2. For every man (Hebrews 2:9).
3. For the world (John 3:16).
4. For the sins of the whole world (1st John 2:2).
5. For the ungodly (Romans 5:6).
6. For false teachers (2nd Peter 2:1).
7. For many (Matthew 20:28).

For Me:
I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. ^{Galatians 2:20}

~ Well, Todd, it’s the only one they can cling to, which is amazing how you take one versus scripture that’s tucked in the back of the Bible, and then base an entire theology around it in first place, or anything in the Bible about positional forgiveness, or forensic forgiveness or judicial forgiveness. I’ve said before, can you imagine some little theological, standing down at the cross, with his Bible tucked under his arm and his head tilted a little bit to the right side, and looking up at Jesus who had just there bleeding and dying to take away the sins of the world? And when he said, it’s finished, look up and say, Now Jesus, was that positional forgiveness? Or was that forensic forgiveness? I think he had a thrown up on them. It is just ludicrous. When you stop to think about that truth. When Jesus cried out, it’s finished. That’s what he meant. It’s finished. But what has happened is people have gotten into this in and out of fellowship, do well in first place, or anything in the Bible about being in and out of fellowship. You’re either in the fellowship saved, or you’re out of the fellowship lost. That’s Bible teaching. It’s not Baptist teaching or Campus Crusade teaching, it’s Bible teaching. And so easy, but even in the first, John, if anyone would study that stuff, and that’s what you have to do, Todd is when you don’t agree with that, you just go along with it. If you’re a bad fish, you just go along with it and kind of get people to tell you that again, so that you can repeat it to somebody else.” ~ Bob George
