Absent From This Body and Present With the Lord

~ Therefore we are always confident, although we know that while we are at home in the body, we are away from the Lord. For we walk by faith, not by sight. We are confident, then, and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord.” 2 Corinthians 5:6-8

~ When a child of God goes to sleep, for the very last time, on their last day, in this body of flesh and blood, we get our new physical/spiritual bodies immediately present with the Lord, that are in the same type of condition that Jesus’ body is in, flesh and bone. Don’t forget, when Jesus was raised from the dead, He had a physical body that could talk, could eat, could walk and do things, could be seen and touched by those still in the physical mortal bodies of flesh and blood. This was witnessed by many after His resurrection and before He went away to send the Holy Spirit for Life (for us) 50 days after the resurection. So right there is our first clue as to what type of body we too will also be clothed with in our near future, on our last day. And think of your body right now as a house (a tent), as the temple of God (which it is), where your soul and spirit dwell inside. But once this body is done with, and it is time for us to move on with LIFE from mortality to immortality, we are absent from the body and present with the Lord. It’s where the “Camp of the Saints” are located. There is a physical location that has the “Camp of the Saints” (ref. Rev. 20:9) and ALL Saints are present with Jesus right there who have gone before us. So God has our new bodies prepared for us, and they are waiting in heaven, and we will be clothed with the new body and be in the body at that very moment in time.

Once you realize the Truth of this, it changes the way you think about everything. Scripture does not teach some sort of soul sleep. Our own selves are fully conscious of our new Life we will have in our New bodies that will never be corrupted ever again. We will have our new heavenly built temple housing our soul and spirit, along with His Spirit living in us for LIFE. Nothing can separate us from Him, NOT even physical death of our mortal bodies right now.

“For we know that if the earthly tent we live in is dismantled, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands. For in this tent we groan, longing to be clothed with our heavenly dwelling, because when we are clothed, we will not be found naked. For while we are in this tent, we groan under our burdens, because we do not wish to be unclothed but clothed, so that our mortality may be swallowed up by life. And it is God who has prepared us for this very purpose and has given us the Spirit as a pledge of what is to come.

Bob George discusses various theological topics on his radio show, including the nature of the resurrected body, the concept of being “absent from the body, present with the Lord,” and the role of the law in the Christian life. He emphasizes that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, and that the resurrected body will be a spiritual and physical new one like Jesus’ body is. Bob also addresses the submission of women to their husbands, stressing that it should be based on mutual love and respect, not legalistic obedience. Additionally, he touches on the interpretation of Revelation and the role of the law in understanding sin.

“Well, you know, if you’ll put those two together, and so many times, you know, you got people who think you go into soul sleep. And so I guess Jesus goes to sleep, because he says he’s in us and we’re in him. So if I, if I’m asleep, he’s going to have to be asleep. That, to me, is nonsense, and I don’t think it makes any sense at all. Because why in the world would you want to think that you where’s that spirit going to go to sleep? Your body’s dead. Your body’s probably eaten up by worms, or, if you’re in the ocean whales or something. So where’s that? Where’s that spirit going to reside for all that period of time? It says we’re absent from the body, present with the Lord. And that doesn’t mean at the rapture. It means right then Jesus was raised from the dead, right then it said, just as He is raised from the dead, we will also be raised from the dead. First, Corinthians, 614, by power God raised the Lord from the dead. He will raise us also. He was raised bodily. He was raised and basically, we wonder sometimes, Jan, if the Lord his body, maybe it didn’t need to be glorified. We don’t know these things. It still had the holes in the hands, but the people that didn’t recognize him before because of his condition of being beaten, it says beyond measure, certainly didn’t see him in that beat up form. They saw him in a pure form. So something took place where God did something to his body, miraculously, because he was back in the shape that he was before he was beaten on the cross. So we have to understand, I think, that we don’t know all of the answers to these things. But I think when you’ve got a firm passage of Scripture, you don’t go to the obscure to interpret the obvious. The obvious passage is that flesh and blood will not inherit the kingdom of God. We also know you’re absent from the body and present with the Lord. Why would we not think that, just as Jesus’ body was transformed in some way, he certainly wasn’t there with blood hanging all over him, and with that beaten up as no man. So why would we not think that God would give us and reward us? Jesus said, where I go? I want them to be with me. I prepare a place for you. Yeah, he’s going to prepare a place. Why would we not think that God would not take our spirit, our soul, and join that with our heavenly body at the time we die. And that’s exactly what I believe takes place. And I think one of this passage in Thessalonians, it’s, I think it’s confused people the dead in Christ will be the first to rise. They’ve taken that well, that. Is the rapture, and then you gotta and they say, Well, no, you’re absent from a body present with the Lord, but your body’s going to go at that time. Well, why would I need to wait two, three thousand years for a body? In other words, right now, my spirit has a body, but when I die, I’m homeless??? It just doesn’t make any sense.” – Bob George
