Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P803 (01-26-23)

When a Person is In Christ Jesus, They HAVE ETERNAL LIFE!

~ Salvation is Life, it is NOT getting your sins forgiven.

~ “Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.” 1 John 5:12

~ Caller 1 1:02
I just have a question on salvation I’m struggling with I believe that you can’t lose it but the church I go to they believe you can. And it’s kind of hard because he showed me a lot of Scripture that shows that you that kind of saying that you can. And I don’t know..

Bob George 1:20
Well Rodney a person that believes you can lose your salvation does not understand what salvation is, I can say that with no exception. They just plain do not understand what salvation is. What you’re saved from IS THE WAGES OF SIN, which is death. And the way you’re saved from the wages of sin, which is death is by the gift of God, which is life. And it says in the scripture, He who has the Son has that life, and he does not have the Son of God does not have that life. And you’re talking about the life of Jesus, the one who said I will never ever leave you, nor forsake you and that nothing can separate you from the love of God. But even more importantly, is the reason that you cannot lose life. Forget about the term salvation, salvation is life. And the reason that you cannot lose the life that has been given to you by God, is because the only thing that could cause that life to depart from you would be sin. And your sins have all been placed behind the back of God never to see them again at the cross. So the reason that you have eternal life is because of the eternal consequence of the cross where there He who knew no sin, became sin for you, so that in his resurrected life, you could become the righteousness of God. Now, some people confuse that with people they say they walk away. Well, if that’s true that somebody walked away, it’s because they were never there to begin with. John says they went out from among us because they were never a part of us. And so that certainly could take place, but that’s not salvation. But if a person has truly come to Christ, by faith for his life, not is forgiveness, you come to Christ for life, the cross is what cleared the deck for the divine action of bringing life to the dead.

Bob George 1:00
Hello, Rodney.

Caller 1 1:02

In Romans, it tells us why you we were yet enemies, that means lost, Rodney, lost while you were lost, you were reconciled to God through the death of his Son, you were born into this world reconciled to God, through the death of his Son. Now how much more having been reconciled, that being an accomplished fact shall you be saved by His life? So you’re not saved to the death of Christ, you’re saved by the life of Christ. And what do you save from? the consequences of sin, which is death, by the gift of God, which is life, but again, I repeat in order to have eternal life. And the reason you have eternal life is because of the eternal consequence of the cross. So a person saying you can lose salvation is denying that Jesus took away the sins of the world. Because sin to anything could cause that life to depart from you. So in essence, they’re denying and they’re saying, Jesus, you lied when you said, it’s finished. You lied when you pray, Father, forgive them, they don’t know what they do. God didn’t answer that prayer. So you’re calling Jesus a liar for what he accomplished at the cross and what he accomplished at the resurrection. And, and so if you really want to know a sin that could send you to hell that would be it if indeed, that was possible. So, many times the very people that are saying you can lose salvation are committing the greatest sin alive and that is the denial of the completed work of Christ at the cross and His provision at the resurrection.

Caller 1 4:54
Okay, well, a couple of examples. They pointed out to me it was like Judas, they were saying that he was just Save, then he lost his salvation.

Bob George 5:02
Judas never had salvation. None of that disciples had salvation until the day of Pentecost.

Caller 1 5:08
They were saying also that in the Old Testament that they believed in Jesus, therefore they had their salvation.

Bob George 5:13
How could they believe in Jesus in the Old Testament when Jesus wasn’t there?

Caller 1 5:18
Yeah. They were saying that they believe…

Bob George 5:21
Well, you’re talking to some people that don’t know what they’re talking about drowning, you need to get yourself some new friends. I mean, you’re talking to people that are as far out as you can get with those two questions alone, I would have to say you guys are on another planet, where I think a person has realized that the people saved in the Old Testament is Day a day and night from way you’re saved in the New Testament. Otherwise, why would God have needed to usher in a brand New Covenant? And a lot of people probably the people you’re talking to don’t even have a clue that there was a New Covenant that was ushered in, talked about in the book of Hebrews. And in that New Covenant, tells what the meaning of the cross was. And he says that the here’s the covenant I will make, I will forgive their sins, and I will remember them no more. And where these have been forgiven, there’s no longer any sacrifice for sins. They said to the Hebrew, in essence, put aside your Day of Atonement, through the Catholic today, put aside your confession booth to the Protestant put aside your first John one nine, it is over, it is finished, there is no more sacrifice for sins. Now that having been accomplished at the Cross enabled him on the day of Pentecost, to send His Holy Spirit to us, which if had been done before, he would have had no need to have done it there. And to permanently indwell the believer, in other words, Christ Jesus came to this earth. He said, It’s good for you that I go away for when I do, I’m going to go to my Father, and I’m going to send my Spirit to you and you’re going to be my body, Old Testament saints. We’re not the body of Christ. Only New Testament saints were called the body of Christ, it was a mystery, held in the heart of God until he chose to reveal it. So don’t equate Old Testament salvation with New Testament salvation. Now, both salvation as it was in the old was credited to them, it was not a possession, it was credited to them. And it was by faith, but they were never in dwelt permanently by the Holy Spirit of God, such as you and I are today. And so, for people to be pulling in Old Testament in regard to salvation, is ridiculous. You may as well pull in sacrificial system and talk about bulls and goats. We’re not under that covenant, we’re under a New Covenant that’s greater than the old and has a brand new priest called Jesus Christ. And when people don’t understand that they get all confused, in regard to biblical interpretation, and part of that confusion would be the loss of a salvation, that God called Eternal. So you need to get grounded in these things. Rodney, you really do to get grounded in them, so that it’s unshakeable. You have eternal life, you’ve been saved from the consequence of death. That’s why it says in Romans, There is now no condemnation awaiting those who belong to Christ Jesus, because the law of the Spirit of Life set you free from the law of sin and death, that salvation being set free from the law of sin and death, a man who sins will surely die, and to be set free from that by the gift of God, which is eternal life in Christ Jesus. When he gives you life, it’s indestructible. And the reason it’s indestructible is because the eternal consequence of the cross. So any passage that a person would try to interpret is a misinterpretation of Scripture as it relates to salvation. If you’re in Christ, you’re in Christ eternally. That help?

Caller 1 8:59
The one that kind of is hard with me is Hebrews six, and I think it’s 10.

Bob George 9:05
Well, Hebrews six and 10 is solidifying what I just got through saying, you cannot come back from where you haven’t been. And that’s not talking about that issue. It’s talking about Hebrews going back to their sacrificial system. And he’s saying, you’re talking about two sides of your mouth. Now, one side you’re saying, I believe Jesus took away my sins. The other side, I’m going back to the day of atonement to get my sins forgiven. That’s double talk. Hebrews six and Hebrews 10 are passages properly interpreted to solidify what I’m saying not to put a doubt on salvation. But again, people want to read those and don’t not read it out of context, and do not interpret it properly. It’s impossible for someone who’s been enlightened. tasted it, didn’t say swallow, he says hasted share doesn’t say participated, tasted the good word of God, if they fall away to be brought back from repentance, why can’t you be brought back? You’ve never been any place. Have you ever noticed how hard it is to come back from where you haven’t been?

So you can’t be brought back because you’ve never been there because of their loss. Why? Well, They’re crucifying the Son of God all over again and subjecting him to public disgrace. See, that’s what I’m talking about people are they’re still wanting to crucify Jesus all over again, instead of resting in the fact that it’s finished. They still want to keep him hanging on a cross. We still want to keep seeking forgiveness when he said it’s finished and over. And in this particular case, it’s to the Hebrew is going back to the Day of Atonement. He said, Look, if you’re going to continue going back the day of atonement, is because you’ve never repented. You’ve never changed your mind that Jesus took away your sins. Hebrews 10 is the same, same thing.

Caller 1 10:56
Well, they were saying that the word sync, sanctified meant that they were saved because..

Bob George 11:00
Well, again, Rodney, I’m gonna sit there and, you know, talk about that all day long about what somebody else is saying. I’m trying to tell you what the Scripture says, and I really don’t care what they say. And you can sit there and believe them if you want to and struggle for the rest of your life. Or maybe you’re not sure of your own salvation, I don’t know. But the issue is, I’ve told you truth. And I don’t know how to I don’t know how to amplify that anymore. It’s like you’re talking about in again in chapter 10. If we deliberately keep on sinning, now what sin? unbelief, that which is not a faith is sin. If we deliberately keep on in our unbelief after we receive the knowledge of truth, so what are you sending against? the knowledge of truth. And to keep denying when someone’s telling you truth is sinning against the knowledge of truth, there’s no sacrifice for sins left. Only a fearful expectation of judgment and the raging fire though assume the enemies of God. Anyone who rejected the law of Moses died without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses? How much more severely Do you think a man deserves, doesn’t say he will, but deserve to be punished, who’s done what? trampled the Son of God underfoot, treated as an unholy thing, the blood of the covenant that sanctified him, and who has insulted the Spirit of Grace, you know what those people are doing? They’re insulting the Spirit of Grace. They’re treating as an unholy thing, the blood of the covenant that sanctified them, and trampling the Son of God underfoot by saying, You’re a liar, Jesus, you did not take away the sins of the world. You did not give me eternal life. You gave me temporary alive. And you’re going right along with it, by listening to him. And the issue is, you need to be telling them what’s truth, instead of listening to those nitwits trying to tell you lies, because that’s what they’re doing. They’re feeding your head full of lies with that kind of nonsense. When the Scripture is clear as a bell, that what God came to do is not give you temporal life. He could have given you a temporal life, it could have given you no life, but he chose to give you eternal life. And that life begins with the Son, how could you lose something that is eternal? So you need to stand strong on those things, Rodney. Don’t they, I hope what I’ve explained here in six and 10, will be a help to you and Hebrews, those are passages to solidify what I’m saying, not to doubt your salvation. people misinterpret those things, and I mean, intentionally misinterpreted, and look like that’s the thing to lose salvation. It’s talking about you can’t come back from where you haven’t been. You’ve never repented. A person who thinks that there’s still more to dues never repented. If you were going back to a sacrificial system, after you said Jesus took away your sins, I would say friend, you never never you can’t be brought back to repentance. You’ve never changed your mind. You’re still depending on a blood of a bull and goat to forgive your sins. You see what I mean?

Caller 1 13:55
Guy I’m trying to debate with as a pastor, you know

Bob George 13:59
That’s even worst speak a little slower.

Caller 1 14:04
Okay

Bob George 14:05
I mean, again, you see Ronnie a pastor of why, you know, people say you go to seminary, which one you’re talking about Jehovah’s Witness seminaries Mormon seminary, Methodist seminary, whichever seminary you went to you got there with a bias. And and again, because a person graduates from seminary, do you realize that 70% of people graduate from seminary don’t know the Lord from the lamppost. don’t even believe in these virgin birth. Again, being a pastor doesn’t grow any credibility at all. It’s Do you know the Word of God? So you’re dealing with somebody who is teaching continually that you can lose salvation that is a man that is leading people down a primrose path that is a lie. It is an absolute lie, and he’s calling Jesus a liar. Whether you realize it or not. He’s calling Jesus a liar by stating those things.

Caller 1 14:58
Okay

Bob George 14:59
Okay. All right, Rodney.

Caller 1 15:01
Thank you Bob.

Bob lets go talk to Sadie listening in Fresno, California on KIRB.

Caller 2 16:01
I was teaching a Sunday school class if you spend it to go and I made the statement that we were all sinners saved by grace, one of the members of the Sunday school class rejected being called a sinner. She said she prefer being called a saint, living in sin. I don’t quite understand. I’m almost certain she didn’t mean what she said. But I

Bob George 16:27
I think she did mean what she said sad the issue is Do you remember any of Paul’s letters to all the Old Senators say but grace and kala sigh are all the Old Senators say but grace in Corinth, who were having orgies at the Lord’s Supper, he called them saints, because you’ve had a change of identity. You were a sinner that was saved by grace. Now your designation from God is called a saint created in the image of God for good works. And so you can be a saint who sins but you’re not a sinner, saved by grace, you are a child of God. And you used to be a sinner that was saved by grace now called a saint.

Caller 2 17:10
What’s the point? That was? The thing I would guess I was trying to ask is, can you be a saint living in sin? Now,

Bob George 17:18
Let me give me an example of that, Sadie, because what a sinner the root of all sin is unbelief. Jesus said the world sent his unbelief in him. That’s the only sin that was not taken away at the cross. And every sin that you and I commit is from unbelief. Now as an example, if we were if you were living in a total trust relationship with Christ, would you ever worry? No, you would never worry, because worry is not faith. Do you ever worry? Absolutely. Will you will probably worry tomorrow? Absolutely. So are you living in sin, and the essence is possibly so. But the issue is, that’s why Jesus came to take away the sins of the entire world. And so the issue is that no one is going to be living a sinless life as a child of God. We all have times of faith. And we all have times when we believe the lie of Satan instead of believing the truth of God. And that will be a conflict that we will be in as long as we’re in this body of ours. And it will be one of the reasons we’ll be rejoicing to get out of this body is so that we will get out of a flesh and blood that is in that contains indwelling sin, and to go into the presence of God never to see that again. That’ll be quite a relief. But in the meantime, you’ve got a struggle. And it’s a struggle between the flesh and the Spirit. And that struggle will take place until the day you are absent from the body and present with the Lord. So what do you do? Well, we walk by faith in the provision of Christ, not in our goodness, you don’t have any goodness. You have no righteousness except. And so we walk by faith in the fact that everything that I have has been given to me by Christ Jesus, I cannot earn something. I’m not going to go out and try to be better than somebody. I’m not going to be a branch hanging on the vine grunting and groaning up fruit. I’m going to relax in the fact that I’m in Christ Jesus. I’ve been made a branch had been grafted into the vine and I want to abide in that life of the vine and let him produce his fruit and and through me, I’ll bear that fruit but I can never produce it. And so we need to get our to realize that the sin issue between you and me has been taken care of by God once and for all. It’s like he says, when I come back, I’m not coming back to bear sin, but to bring salvation for those waiting for me. Why isn’t he come into act to bear sin? He’s already done it. That’s why I cried out from the cross. It’s finished. And so when we come to Christ, We have a brand new identity Sadie, and I’m a new creature if any man be in Christ is a new creation. And God called us saints. Like I say Corinthian church, saints, they were carnal beyond recognition. They called them saints.

Caller 2 20:17
I’m aware of that. I guess I’m just not raising with the answer I’m trying to. I just didn’t realize that as this thing called to be saints, that we can continue to live not commit sins, we all commit them. But the phrase living in sin.

Bob George 20:38
Living in sin I’ll tell you what the world’s sin it would be unbelief. Can a believer live in a continuous unbelief? No way. I agree with you there. When you look at sin, that was the definition God gave it that which is not a faith is sin. Can a person who has come to Christ by faith live in unbelief? No, not a continual living in unbelief.

Caller 2 21:04
That is what that’s what I was looking for. I just didn’t see how you.

Bob George 21:08
No, he would not be a believer. And that’s kind of what I was talking to the other gentleman about in chapter six of Hebrews. It’s saying you can’t be brought back to repentance because you’ve never repented. You’ve never changed your mind.

Caller 2 21:20
Yeah, I heard that one. Yeah.

Bob George 21:22
Yeah. And so a person who’s saying, their mouth, Jesus took away my sins and the other side of your mouth going back to the Day of Atonement, to kill a bull and goat to get your sins forgiven. Here’s gonna have to say guy, you’re gonna have to get on one side or the other of this of this ledger, because right now you’re living double minded. And you’re gonna have to make up your mind, whether you believe in Jesus or whether you believe in the blood of bulls and goats. And according to what you continue doing, you’ve never repented, you’re you’re still counting on the blood of a bull and goat to save you and you’ve never turned to Christ for salvation. And that there’s many, many people like that. Maybe not to go to a bull and goat, but they’re still using their manmade methods to try to keep themselves forgiven. And in that particular case, you’re saying you’ve never repented. You’ve never trust did Christ for your forgiveness.

Caller 2 22:13
Yeah, my question really was about a saint who says that he’s living in sin. I know we all commit sins, we all sinners it way of living in sin. You corrected me on that.

Bob George 22:28
What would be your definition of living in sin?

Caller 2 22:32
I beg your pardon?

Bob George 22:33
What would be your definition of living in sin?

Caller 2 22:36
Continuously living in sin, not just committing a sin? We all do that will give me an tells me that you’re living in a sinful way that you know is sinful, but you are a saint, and you will continue and you can continue to live that way. That is what I understand.

Bob George 22:57
Can you give me an example of that?

Caller 2 23:00
An example of living in sin?

Bob George 23:01
Yeah.

Caller 2 23:02
Well, one example in my opinion of living in sin is living in a relationship with the opposite sex that you’re not married to. That is to me living in sin it’s not committing a sin.

Bob George 23:17
Well, no, it’s comitting a sin, having intercourse that’s committing a sin, isn’t it?

Caller 2 23:22
I beg your pardon.

Bob George 23:24
I say if you’re living with somebody, you’re not going to the library with them every night, you’re probably having intercourse with them. So that’s sin. They’re committing a sin. committed. So you say to your I think you’re I think you’re into a situation there that you really need to think through because I do everybody comes up with that definition, because they’re not doing that. But what about continual living with a critical spirit? Would that be living in sin? What about continually worrying and continually being anxious? Would that be living in sin? You see all of those things. How about how about not as an example, and it said, The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love. And you take a look at First Corinthians 13 Love and just put the I am always to it. I am always patient. Well, let’s say that you weren’t patient. Would you be living in sin? Yeah. How about kind? What about keeping records of wrongs? He said, Love doesn’t keep records of wrongs. And yet, you let’s say you keep records of wrongs, would that be living in sin? Yeah, sure would. So I think you need to get rid of that.

Caller 2 24:30
I think I hear I think I hear what you’re saying. And I’m going by definition I had written about pastor and said saint is another word standing in need of correct meaning. It denotes a consecrated person, that is saint by virtue of what they are in Christ. Being saintly has to do with how we live for Christ. And not only carry.

Bob George 24:53
What has what has to do with how we live?

Caller 2 24:55
Being saintly has to do with how we live For Christ in

Bob George 25:02
What did and again, what he said was live by faith you see, you can go out not know the Lord from a spook and do and do outside deeds, it look pretty good on the outside. There’s a lot of denominations that look very good on the outside that don’t know the Lord Jesus of the Bible. So the issue is what sets you and me apart, Sadie, is what we believe you’re not set apart by how you dress or how you act. What sets you apart from the world is what you believe. You’re sanctified by the word, he says, And the Word of God and believing in the Word of God, and the meaning of the word of God is what sets you apart from the entire world. When you and I step out and say, I believe in Jesus, I believe that Jesus is my Lord and Savior. I believe Jesus comes and lives in me, you have just separated yourself from the majority of the world.

Caller 2 25:57
I hear what you’re saying.

Bob George 25:59
And that’s what sets us apart.

Caller 2 26:01
I hear what you’re saying.

Bob George 26:02
Now, if we’re truly believing in Christ, Jesus, and again, that’s a moment by moment deal and trusting Him with our life, then Christ life is going to be manifested in through us. When I start trusting in my flesh, my flesh is going to be manifested. And we’re going to be doing both of those until the day we die. And if a person is in a continual mindset of sin, and they’re truly born again, God is not going to leave them there. Period. And that’s good. It’s like the prodigal son. Did he ever cease to be a son? Never. But God didn’t leave him there. He finally came to his senses.

Now that person is living in sin, and He truly is a child of God, He will not leave him in that state.

Absolutely. Sooner or later is going to come to his senses, or I quite frankly, believe God will take him home.

Caller 2 26:57
I believe that too.

Bob George 26:59
And that wouldn’t be punishment.

Caller 2 27:00
No, no, no, no

Bob George 27:01
That would just mean that. I don’t think you’re ever gonna get over this thing. I’m just going to take you home to be with me.

Caller 2 27:06
I believe that also.

Bob George 27:07
Well that was a good talk. Sadie. Appreciate your good question. That was that was fun interaction.

Caller 2 27:13
Thank you.

Bob George 27:14
God bless you.

Caller 2 27:14
Thank you very much.

  • I now receive that life.
  • And I am going stand in the fact that I am a child of the living God.

Jesus Came to Save Sinners

Listen to the Salvation message today!

Stand on the firmness of truth. Don’t keep going back and forth. Thank Him that the forgiveness issue is settled.

Let’s pray together:

  • Lord Jesus,
  • I thank you for taking away my sins on the cross,
  • never ever to see them again.
  • Having done that, I now thank you for giving me eternal life,
  • through your resurrection.
  • I now receive that life.
  • And I am going stand in the fact that I am a child of the living God.
  • In Jesus Holy name I pray.
  • Amen

All believers are now brothers and sisters in Christ.
