Understanding 1 John 1:9 in Light of Faith That Pleases God
~ And without faith it is impossible to please God. For anyone who approaches Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him. Hebrews 11:6
~ Most today have no idea the Faith that pleases God. For they have listened to the testimony of Man’s lies instead of listening to the Holy Spirit teach them Truth. There has been a concerted effort by satan to deceive even those who are in Christ Jesus today during this season of deception. Think about it folks, there is such huge push back by people and pastors in the church to teaching the TRUTH that everyone’s sins were forgiven at the cross, that at some point in time we need to question maybe it is not simply error being taught, but it is actually intentional LIES that are being taught at the organized church level. Folks, of course it is intentional… Almost every organized church today is based on a pastor having gone to a seminary, to learn what? To learn the doctrines of demons and Man. For the only way to graduate a seminary or Bible college is to toe the taught line of their denomination and doctrines of demons and Man. No one cares whether the Truth is being taught or not, because after all, their identity is based on being a Protestant, or Baptist, or Catholic, or Lutheran or Methodist, or whatever identity they place on themselves and others, yet have no clue what a true child of God actually is.
And when we share the Truth of the Word of God in regards to completed forgiveness on the cross, most people discount what we have to say to them and many will even get super angry with us, wanting to kick us out of “their churches,” even when we present many verses of scripture to prove that forgiveness is finished, and God is no longer counting sins against people. For example, we know from scripture, “that without the shedding of blood there is NO forgiveness,” and we also know that Jesus is Never going to go to the cross again. Forgiveness by God was done once, for all sins, for all people, for ALL TIME at the cross. Yet people today dismiss the cross itself as being insignificant, they treat it as an unholy thing for they count it null and void. They keep on putting Jesus back on the cross over and over again, and crucifying Jesus over and over and over again. Both Catholics and Protestants do it. All religions spread the lie that it is not finished by God. And most everyone refuses to exercise Faith in what God has declared finished which is the True Faith that pleases God.
Can you imagine going up to God in the flesh, in a private or public meeting, in person face to face, and asking Jesus to do what he has already done for you? Yet most people do that everyday of their lives when they mock the cross. “Forgive me God, please forgive me God, yes I know you forgave me at the cross, but please forgive me,” or a whole bunch of other variations of the lie which are repeated over and over and over again, in essence calling God a liar, and dismissing the Truth in plain sight. They are making a mockery of the cross. Yes folks, it is a mockery of the cross in plain sight. And satan loves it when we refuse to exercise Faith in the finished work of Jesus on the cross, for it makes out God to be a liar, because people are saying that they don’t really believe Jesus took away all their sins. They are telling God, that He must still be counting their sins against them, because by the very actions of what comes out of the mouths over and over again, for it is obvious to all because they are condemning themselves with their very words spoken. You can hear it in their prayers and the things they preach, and the things they promote, and most all the preachers themselves spread the lie today with their mouths out loud. “It is not what is entering into the mouth that defiles the man; but that going forth out of the mouth, this defiles the man.” Matthew 15:11 “How much more severely do you think one deserves to be punished who has trampled on the Son of God, profaned the blood of the covenant that sanctified him, and insulted the Spirit of grace?” Hebrews 10:29 And for most of these people, they have never repented in the first place, this is what Hebrews 6:6 is showing by their very actions of saying one thing, but doing another. Oh sure, they say they have repented (changed their mind), but what comes out of their mouths condemns them. “And who then turn away from God. It is impossible to bring such people back to repentance; by rejecting the Son of God, they themselves are nailing him to the cross once again and holding him up to public shame.” Hebrews 6:6 New Living Translation

John 6:28,29
28 Therefore they said to Him, “What must we do, that we may be doing the works of God?”
29 Jesus answered and said to them, “This is the work of God, that you should believe in Him whom He has sent.”

Bob George discusses the interpretation of 1 John 1:9, emphasizing that it is clear to believers and criticizing modern translations for not accurately conveying the Greek text’s meaning. He argues that the passage addresses Gnostic heresies and the sin nature. Bob also addresses the importance of understanding the finality of Christ’s sacrifice and warns against misinterpreting grace. He advises against practices like prophesying and speaking in tongues, which lacks a biblical foundation for today. Bob encourages discernment and emphasizes the need for a personal relationship with Christ for true spiritual transformation.

Let’s go on KKMC Roger on the air. How’s it going? You guys doing good. Rod, thank you. Caller 1 0:56 Hey, Bob. I had a question for you on First John one nine. I know from listening to the broadcast before that you mentioned about that passage in the original language of Greek, being a in the tents of He is faithful and just to have forgiven our sins. And I’m wondering, in the couple of Greek interlinear Bibles that I’ve I’ve actually looked at not purchased, but they don’t translate it that way, I’m wondering if that’s some kind of bias in the way that it’s being translated. Or maybe you could suggest this, where, if we’re interested in getting an interlinear Bible, what you would recommend as far as who’s faithfully translated it? Bob George 1:44 Oh Rod, I wouldn’t waste my time getting a Greek Bible for First John one nine. It is so obvious that first John one nine is not to a believer that is clearer than a nose on her face. And for most of us, that’s pretty clear. It very clearly states that if we if, first of all, whoever was writing when John was writing to the, probably the church in Ephesus, crying out for help because of the Gnostics that had crept in and invaded the churches during that period of time, and we know what the Gnostic heretic beliefs were. They were later identified as anti-christ, where the Jesus didn’t come in the flesh. He would he was an illusion to that. Why the John started out that which we’ve seen, heard, touched, this we proclaim concerning a word of life. Why do you have to say all those things? He certainly didn’t have to say them to us. We never doubted that he came in the flesh, but the Gnostics claim he didn’t come in the flesh. He was an illusion. So he had to correct that heretical teaching. Also, the Gnostics did not believe that you had a sin nature, and so to that, he wrote that if we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. Now we know who the truth is. It’s not just what the truth is. We know who the truth is, and that’s Christ, Jesus, and what is he saying about him? He isn’t in you. You’re making a claim that identifies the fact that you’re not born again, just like your claim that he did not come in the flesh is an indicator you’re not born again. And so if you’re claiming to be without sin, we’re deceive ourselves. The truth is it in us, and then and again. Rod, I’m not a Greek scholar, but I know where to go to find Greek scholars, and the best one I went to was in Greece. Surprisingly enough, go to Greece, you’ll find people who really understand the language, where many times, even our scholars over here fall short of that. But at any rate, the literal translation is on that “if” it’s a strange, “if” it’s not the kind of an if that Satan used with Jesus, if you’re the Son of God, Turn these stones into bread, because that’s, that’s a conditional type of if it isn’t in light of the fact that that’s what that if is, is in light of the fact that you are the Son of God. Or if we, we go outside and it’s raining, you’re going to get wet. That type of an if, this is an “IF” with a question mark to it that saying, I don’t know if you people are ever going to come to your senses or not. That’s a doubt. I’m saying it, but almost doubt it, but in the event that you do today, tomorrow, or whenever that might be, that’s that continual action he is faithful and just. It’s an aorist tense to have forgiven our sins and to have cleansed us of all unrighteousness, why our translators do not translate it in that way Rod is beyond my comprehension. I think it is a bias. A lot of times translators do not want to translate. They just want to just take it from the Greek to the English. But the fact of the matter is, when that book was written, they didn’t have to wonder when that event took place. They knew when it took place 60 years ago. And the aorist tense doesn’t have dates connected to it. But when you know when the date was, you interpret it in that light. And that’s where the mistake came up. They should have the Greek did interpret it properly. But when we translate, instead of translating it as the author meant to write it because he knew when that event took place, 60 years earlier, that that what he was saying is He’s faithful and just to have forgiven your sins and to have cleansed you of all unrighteousness. I also go over to Second John, Rod, which is to me, even is even is more of a testimony of truth. And that’s where, in Second John, he begins the letter Dear Elder to the chosen lady and her children, whom I love in the truth. Here’s this truth again, and not only I, but also all who know the truth because of the truth which lives in us, there again, he’s talking about Jesus, and will be with us forever. Now if, according to the same author, if truth lives in you, then truth will be with you forever. We know that, in regard to Jesus, that when he came to invade our lives. He’s there eternally. You can’t lose what he came to give you. And so you take that in light of the fact that, that’s how he identifies truth is what lives in you and will be with you forever. So how are you going to interpret First John one nine? If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us as to talking to anyone except a lost person. Because if, if the truth is in you and will be with you forever, how could you make that statement? And so but as far as it in our book that we wrote on Faith that Pleases God, I go into a deep expedition of the Greek structure that would be very helpful to you, if you’re really interested in that. I was interested in it Rod at the beginning because I knew I was standing alone in the way that we were teaching that. I knew that first John one nine could not be applicable. That doesn’t work. I tried that short accounts with God for seven or eight years of my Christian experience, it doesn’t work. Nobody keeps it. It’s all it’s a phony. And I knew that it was not correct, because I knew that Christ Jesus took away the sins of the world, never to see them again. So how can you bring together, God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto Himself, not counting your sins against us, and and if you confess your sin, He will forgive you, which means if you don’t, he won’t? Rght. And we know that’s not true. So I had to do, I had to do that exploration, because I was dealing with a lot of intellectual type people. And so I had to go to the Greek and I went to the finest Greek professors, and to me and again in America, and also went to the ones over in Greece, and every one of them interpreted identically the same way. So I just merely recorded what that what they had said. Caller 1 8:17 Sure. Well, my main reason for asking is just as recently as this last week, and I attended a conference with 100 guys there. And when I talked with the minister privately on the side about trying to give him clarification on that passage, he flat out, said, No, that’s that interpretation is wrong, continuing to yeah… Bob George 8:37 So in his interpretation is right, that you keep asking God to do what he’s already done correct, and therefore making a mockery of the grace of God. See, I believe that people like that are are in dangerous ground. I’ll tell you why. It says in Hebrews 10, beginning in verse 26, if we deliberately keep on sinning after we receive the knowledge of truth. Now, what are we sinning against? The knowledge of truth. Yeah. And what is the knowledge of truth that he just gave us in about five verses earlier? Their sins and lawless acts, I will remember no more, and where these have been, not will be have been forgiven. There’s no longer any sacrifice for sins. Now, if you understand, you’ve now obtained the knowledge of truth. Now you keep on sinning against that knowledge of truth by going back to your sacrificial system, going back to your priest and your confession booth, as the Protestants do keep asking God with First John one nine is your choice verse to do what he’s already done. He says you don’t have anything to look forward to except going to hell. I think it’s very serious stuff that these people are doing, which I did in my own life, unintentionally, but once I came to understand the knowledge of truth. I’ve never done that again, and nor will I ever do that again. I will, thank God, but I’ll never ask him to do what he had to die and suffer in order to accomplish for me. And so he says in there that anyone who rejected the law Moses died on without mercy, on a testimony two or three witnesses. How much more severely Do you think a man deserves, doesn’t say will, but deserves to be punished? Who’s done what? Now, here’s what they identify people who keep asking God to forgive them. They’re trampling the Son of God under foot. Why? He’s already done that, and he ain’t got to do it again, treating as an unholy thing, the blood of the covenant that sanctified him. What is the covenant? Their sins of lawless acts, I remember no more where these have been forgiven. There’s no longer any sacrifice for sins, trampling that under foot, treating as an unholy thing the blood of the covenant that sanctified him and insulting the Spirit of grace. It’s an insult to God to ask God to do what Jesus Christ had to die to accomplish once and for all for us. So these people, to me, are on dangerous ground, because I believe what they’re doing is intentionally, deliberately sinning against the knowledge of truth. Wow. Well, it’s as clear as a bell. I guess we’ll have to pay a price to proclaim it. You better believe there’s a price to proclaim it. We’ve paid with we’ve we’ve, we’ve paid that price for 35 years, that’s for sure. And there is a price. You’re not going to you’re not going to be asked to speak at many of the Big East conventions. You’re not going to be accepted among the main line congregations, even the evangelicals. You’re going to have to be out there on your own. But it’s worth it, because it’s TRUTH, and truth will set people free. Caller 1 11:44 Well, thank you for your encouragement. I got to be a little more prepared to share this with people on a way that I can point it out to them and they and the text. But I really appreciate your your answer and your insight. Bob. Bob George 11:56 You know, Rod, the issue, and when I wrote Classic Christianity, I left first John one out out one nine out of it intentionally. I left it out intentionally because the whole book is around the finality of the cross, and what it did at the end of that book is caused people to say, if they had no anything about the Scripture, well, then if this is true, what about First John one nine? Meaning they did not know that was true. If they had known that was true all along of the completeness of the cross, they wouldn’t make that statement. So if this is true, saying, I don’t know for sure if it’s true, but if it is, what about First John one nine shows they did not know that all of these other myriad of scriptures about the finality of the Cross are true. Never been taught them. Never been taught the book of Hebrews. The book of Hebrews clarifies everything, if you’ll just study it properly. And so it’s amazing to me, just the mere question that people are asking, the question about First John one nine is an indicator that they have never come to grips with all of the other myriad of scriptures in regard to the finality of the cross, because otherwise, there’s no way you can interpret that any other way, except the fact this is not the proper interpretation that I’ve been taught through the years. Caller 1 13:12 Right, right? Well, thank you, and hopefully we’ll make it out there to see you in Texas, if you don’t make it out to California first. Bob George 13:21 I hope you will. Bob George 14:12 We’re going to go to Albuquerque, New Mexico, listening on KXKS. Beth, you’re on the air. Caller 2 14:19 Yes. Hi. How are you? Bob George 14:20 Hi, Beth, I’m doing fine. Thank you. Beth, Speaker 1 14:22 okay, well, I’m my friends actually are going through a couple of things, and I’m kind of caught in the middle, and I’m not really sure how to react. I have a friend, a very dear friend, that I go to church with, and she confessed to me the other day that she is having an affair. And on the other side, I have a dear friend that I work with who recently came out and announced that he’s gay. And I like ahh! And I don’t, you know, I love these two people very much, and I’m, I really want to be a help to each of them. And, you know, kind of help them through each. Of these, you know, situations. But, I mean, if I know, obviously, adultery is a sin and but I don’t want to be super judgmental In either case, because I, again, I love them both, and just from God’s point of view, is kind of like, is one worse. I mean, who should I? How do I prioritize? Bob George 15:24 Okay, I think I know. I know what you’re saying Beth. Is one sin worse than another? To God, no sin is sin. Worry would be no different than adultery or anything else. As far as God is concerned, that which is not a faith is a definition of sin, and that’s what Jesus went to a cross for, was to take away the sins of the entire world, which he did. The only sin attributable to man is the sin of the rejection of the Son of God and His provision for us, where he took away the sins of the entire world and died, not only as it says, for our sins, but the sins of the entire world. However, getting forgiven is not salvation. For getting forgiveness at the cross was preparation for salvation. We had to be saved from the consequence of sin, which is death by the gift of God, which is eternal life. And that’s where his resurrection comes into play in regard to salvation. So when we come to Christ, you’re coming to him. You’re not coming to him necessarily for forgiveness. You’re coming to him for him. And in him It says you have redemption, the forgiveness of sin. So the forgiveness that was provided for us then is received when we come to the one who provided it, not to come for his provision, but to come to the one who provided it. And that’s Christ, Jesus. And that’s the Christ in you, your hope of glory. That’s the dynamic of the Christian life Beth is Christ Jesus, the living Christ, is living in you and me, which gives us the power to live the life that God has called us to. So until a person comes into that relationship, they are subject to any kind of temptation that Satan wants to put in our paths. Now, God speaks about homosexuality in a different way than he speaks about adultery, because of the effect on the person committing it, the person they’re committing it with, and the effect towards society. And so in Romans, 1:24 therefore he said, God gives them over. Now, why? He said, because their thinking became futile. And he said, a person engaged in that has a foolish heart that’s darkened. They claim to be wise, but they became fools and exchanged the glory of God for the images to look like mortal man. Therefore, God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another, they exchanged the truth of God for a lie. There is your sin, exchanging the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than a creator. Now, because of this, God gave them over to shameful lust, and even their woman, women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. In the same way, the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another, and men committed indecent acts with other men and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion. So there is a natural reaction. In other words, there is a result for everything that we do. There’s a there’s a byproduct, and there is a due penalty for that kind of perversion. We’ve seen it in our day and age in regard to AIDS. But that’s that’s only recent. They have always, deep down in their hearts, have known this is wrong, or they wouldn’t be hiding it. And it says, Furthermore, since they did not think worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, He gave them over to a depraved mind to do what ought not to be done. And so there’s the key. A person, they could sit in church, they can act holy and all that stuff, but the Bible says that they have did not think that it was worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God. In other words, you don’t understand, God. I was born this way. Or you don’t understand God. I have these deep feelings for somebody of my same sex, or you don’t understand God. And he says, Yes, I do understand I understand perversion, and I understand perverted thinking, and I understand that you’re a fool and you have a foolish heart and a futile thinking. When you stand in front of a mirror as a man, thinking you’re a woman or vice versa. God made you a man. God made you a woman, and he gave you natural desires, not unnatural desires, but natural desires. The unnatural desires are yours. The natural desires are mine. That’s what I gave you. And so there is more discussed in regard to homosexuality than sheer adultery. In both cases, both of those things, the sin was taken away at the cross. Now when people come to Christ as their Lord and their Savior and are indwelt by the living Christ, the Spirit of God living in them is going to lead them into truth, and truth isn’t, it’s okay. It’s not okay to commit adultery, it’s not okay to be involved in homosexual activities. Both of those things are contrary to sound doctrine, and contrary to what God has made us to do, that doesn’t mean we can’t do it or don’t do it. We could, but it’s contrary. And my feeling is this, it’s not that we cannot sin, because we can and we do, but whenever we start calling sin something else, other than what God called it, now we’re in trouble because we’re literally spitting in the face of God and saying, God, you don’t know what you’re talking about. He knew what he’s talking about to me when he said, You can’t live up to it, he I agree with him on that, but I don’t ever want to deny that when God calls something sin, it’s sin. It’s not a healthy concern with worry. It’s not an alternate lifestyle. It’s sin. Homosexuality is sin, adultery is sin. Now again, those sins have been placed behind the back of God never to see them again. Praise be to God for that. But that should be the thing that draws you to the heart of Jesus and to the open arms of Jesus. It says, You come unto me, and I’ll make you and create in you a mind that is not a foolish feudal thinking mind. I will renew your mind and teach you truth that will set you free. And that’s that’s where that has to start. It has to start with acknowledging that what I’m doing is contrary to what God has meant for me. But again, it’s not going to mean a thing unless those people are Christians, right. And so you may as well be talking to a wall if you’re going to say anything to them about what they’re doing instead of talking to them about do you know the Lord or not? Let’s go to oxen Hill, Maryland. Listen on W, F, A, X, Curt, you’re on the air. Caller 2 22:52 Yes. How are you this evening? Bob George 22:53 Good. Curt. Thank you. Caller 2 22:55 The question two questions I like to ask, does prophesy exist in this day and time, as well as speaking in tongues? Bob George 23:06 Curt, the prophesying. Now you’re talking about prophecy. If you’re talking about prophecy as it matters to end times, is recorded in the Scripture as far as people sitting around saying they’re prophesying, no, it doesn’t exist today. What information do you need? The cannon has been closed and and it’s, it’s like it says in Hebrews, that in times past, God spoke to people in various and sundry manners, but in that but means this is the contrast. But in these last days, he’s spoken to us through His Son. And so Jesus gave us all the prophecy that we’re going to have and and when that was finished, it’s finished. And when that was recorded, what he said that I will reveal to the apostles every word, and reveal through His Spirit, through the Apostle Paul. And once that was reported, and that apostolic Age ended. The age of prophecy also ended. There anything anybody could say to me today that would have any meaning to it that isn’t already in the scripture, and if it’s already in the Scripture, why? Then you should be in a position of being a teacher or a pastor teacher, but not that of a prophet, unless a prophet means a forth teller teaching what has already been revealed. Caller 2 24:25 Okay. Mm, hmm. Reason why I asked that question? Because our church have like deliverance service every fourth Friday of the month, and most of the people who come there to speak are evangelist and and they’ll be prophesying, saying certain things that we get in line for prayer, you’ll be saying certain things to people about what’s going to take place in their life. Bob George 24:49 Fortune teller, glorified fortune teller. Caller 2 24:52 This particular lady told me to take off my shoes and not showing this disrespect. I took my shoes on. She said, walk around in the church. Seven. Times, and that still didn’t make no sense to me, but, and it don’t make no sense to me today, I say I hear so many things like that till it causes me not to want to go to the prayer deliver some service, because majority of people that come to speak are prophesying all the time and saying certain things, like people gonna have a job offer to them. You’re gonna get this. You’re gonna get that. Sometimes my spirit be telling me that I don’t, I don’t think this is really going on. Bob George 25:26 Well that’s discernment. Kurt. It’s a you can praise God, because that’s what’s called discernment from the Spirit, and follow that, because you’re 100% right. That kind of stuff is not going on. It’s all made up, and then people think that they’re speaking in some kind of a language that that doesn’t exist, that’s also made up. So I would look for another fellowship, because if that’s going on once a week or once a month or something, then I’ll guarantee you that kind of nonsense is going on in the rest of the weeks as well. Caller 2 26:00 And one more question, I won’t hold you. I know other people want to call What about laying of hands on people? Does that exist today? Bob George 26:10 What for? Caller 2 26:12 Well, you know how they say, Well, if you need a healing, even though I’m not the one would do the healing, it’s through me, through God, through me. Bob George 26:18 What’s laying your hands on somebody going to do to heal somebody? Again. If you, if you had the gift of healing, what are you doing in a church service? You ought to be in a hospital clearing it out. Yes, it’s true. I mean, yeah, why would you be in a church service? Go to the hospital. Okay, if you got such a gift of healing, for goodness sakes, why would you be messing around in a church building. Go to the hospital there. Everybody’s sick, so you are be able to have a good time over there. Caller 2 26:48 Yeah, that’s true for the information, and I only been listening you all a short time, like three weeks, but sometimes the station may not be as clear as shortly after the time. So whatever I can get to call in on some I call. But thank you for your information, and God bless you and your annual future work in ministry. Bob George 27:10 Thanks so much. Kurt, appreciate your calling. I hope that helps. Caller 2 27:12 Okay, thank you very much. Bob George 27:14 God bless pal. Bye, bye.
