Propitiation Has Taken Place ~ Jesus Took Away The Sins of the Whole World

~ “And He is the propitiation for our sins, and not only for ours, but also for those of the whole world.” 1 John 2:2

~ Understand what the word propitiation means. Jesus, God in the flesh, took away the sins of the whole world, and now God is no longer counting anyone’s sins against them. The forgiveness issue has been satisfied by the death of Jesus on the cross. Now, the life of Christ is when a person places Faith in Him, and the Holy Spirit comes to indwell a person for life. No one is ever born alive physically, and they must be born again of the Spirit of God in order to possess His ETERNAL Life living in them. And that is what the New Spiritual birth is all about. Many people think that occurs when they “get” their sins forgiven, as though their asking for forgiveness causes God to somehow forgive them of their sins. Yet we know, that without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness by God, and He is not going to die on the cross ever again. So the issue is LIFE not getting sins forgiven. Do you have the Son of God living in you through His Holy Spirit, or NOT? That is the question. For many people think they are born again, but are believing in another Jesus all together and do NOT have the Holy Spirit living in them for Life.

“Brandon, do you know why they’re going to go to hell? Well, they’re going to go to hell because they don’t accept Christ, period, pardon me. Period, right? Okay, now so what does that have to do with actions? You see Brandon, the sins of the entire world, lost, as well as saved, were placed where judged at the cross 2000 years ago, and the verdict was guilty and the punishment was death, and Jesus stepped. Been between God and you and me, and said, I will take that for them. And the preciousness of the blood of God Himself was of such value that God was able to look down on that sacrifice and say, propitiation has taken place. In other words, I am satisfied with that offering, and there he who knew no sin became sin for you and me, so that we could become the righteousness of God in him. Why is righteousness in him? Because no man will ever be declared righteous in the sight of God through obedience to the law. Now if we don’t know that, then we’re on a performance orientation. When I do know that that this is what God has done. He has now come through his resurrection to live in you and me, and the purpose of him living in you and me is to guide us into all truth. You will never go to hell if you’re in Christ, Jesus, and no one else will ever go to hell who’s in Christ, Jesus. No man will ever go to hell because of his sins, plural, no man only the sin of the rejection of the Son of God who came to cure the sin problem and the consequence to sin, which is death. Only Jesus did that. So anyone who is in Christ, Jesus has been purified from his unrighteousness, he has been cleansed from his unrighteousness, and he has been enveloped by Christ in His righteousness. Now to the world, the world isn’t going to hell because of their actions, their sins too have been forgiven, but that’s not salvation. The problem we’ve run into Brandon is we think that getting your sins forgiven is salvation. Nothing could be further from the truth. We’re told in Romans that while we were yet enemies, that means lost, we were reconciled to God through the death of his Son, and how much more having been reconciled, shall we be saved by His life? You’re not saved by the death of Christ. You’re saved by the life of Christ. What are you saved from? The consequence of sin. Which is, what is the consequence of sin? Death. What is the solution to death? Life. That’s the resurrection. And that’s why Paul said, without the resurrection, we’re to be pitied of all people and are still in our sins, knowing full well that a cross had occurred where he took away the sins of the world, but knowing that that provision for us, then, is only received in the resurrected life of Christ, Jesus. So the cross was preparatory. It was an absolute essential. In order to give us eternal life, it was an essential. The reason I know that I have eternal life Brandon is because of the cross, where Jesus took away eternally the cause of spiritual death, which is sin. So there’s no way that I can lose what I have, and that’s eternal life, because the only thing that could cause me to lose that would be sin. And the reason that’s an impossibility is because of the cross. Had it not been for the cross, and He gave you and me life. The next time we sin, we had died again. And so the wisdom of God is unreal when you stop to think about it, where he took away the entire cause of spiritual death at the cross and then was able to offer resurrection. So what is salvation? It’s I came that you might have life. I am the Way and the Truth and the Life. And he who has the Son has life. I am the resurrection and the life. And so you come to Christ for His life, which is the only solution to the consequence of sin, which is death. And you’re indwelt by Christ, who now leads us into His paths of righteousness. And so we’re being taught daily, moment by moment, by the Word of God that is leading us into, again, his path of righteousness. And that’s why, in Titus, Brandon, it says that it is the grace of God that teaches us to say no to unrighteousness. Now the teaching that you had back, as well meaning as people were in the Puritan age, was, do not touch. Do not do all of these things which the Bible speaks to in those languages. Said, all those things have an appearance of wisdom, but they lack any value at all in restraining sensual indulgence. And so it’s the grace of God that teaches us to say no to unrighteousness. We are trying to use the law of God. Law of God leads you into sin. Grace leads you into the heart of God, where you learn to be led because of your love for him, as a result of his love for you, where you led learn to be led by realizing that here is a God who loves me perfectly, and if somebody loves me perfectly, then I can love them back. We can’t initiate love to God, Brandon. We have to respond to His love for us. That then results in dependency upon this God, and then that results in obedience to that God. So and we’re out trying to teach obedience apart from love, and it becomes nothing but legalistic obedience, which, quite frankly, was an awful lot of what that Puritan teaching was, as well meaning as they were. So what we have to do is to teach people our role is to lift Him up, teach people of Christ, Jesus, and then teach people that we are no longer under the law that kills, that we are under the grace of God, and to excel in the grace of God and allow that grace to teach you and me to say no to unrighteousness, which is basically what we were talking about there. ~ Bob George
