Forgiveness Was Finished at the Cross ~ Jesus is Not Dying Over and Over Again

~ “God demonstrates His own love to us, that in our being still sinners, Christ died for us.

Therefore much more, having been justified now by His blood, we will be saved by Him from wrath! For if, being enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we will be saved in His life! And not only so, but also we are boasting in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we now received reconciliation.” Romans 5:8-11

~ Understanding our completed forgiveness at the cross is central to understanding the True Gospel. Most people have a wrong understanding of the forgiveness issue, because satan’s lie of ongoing forgiveness is taught throughout ALL the churches. That is what is taught in seminaries. If they don’t teach come to God to get your sins forgiven, they teach that you are out of fellowship when you sin. They teach the lie of keeping short accounts with God. And the more indoctrinated a pastor/teacher is, based on cementary/seminary training, the more they will sell that lie. And folks, this is the number one foundational issue to the Truth of the cross. If a person doesn’t understand that forgiveness is completed, they will forever be calling God a liar with their double-talk of different types of forgiveness. Can you imagine going up to Jesus in the flesh, and asking Him to go back up on the cross and forgive your sins over and over again? Think that through…because without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness by God. Because every time a person asks for forgiveness by God right now, it shows they don’t believe that He forgave them at the cross to begin with. This is KEY to understand.

Salvation is LIFE, it is Not getting your sins forgiven. Salvation is when the Holy Spirit comes to live inside you, making you born again of the Spirit of God. You receive His forgiveness (accept it for you) when you place Faith in Him to have taken (past tense) all your sins at the cross, and God is no longer counting your sins against you. Believe it, and place Faith in Him to have done it. It is Finished! We are Saved by His Life, His Holy Spirit is Eternal Life given to us. We are not saved by His death.

Sean inquires about John 1:9, which Bob explains as Christ being the light available to all, though not all receive Him.

“The resurrection is what saves you, and that’s why it says in Romans five eight that while we were yet enemies, and that means lost, we were, and that’s past tense, reconciled to God through the death of His son. How much more, having been reconciled, that being an accomplished fact, shall we be saved by his life? You’re not saved by the death of Christ, you’re saved by the life of Christ. The cross was preparatory for salvation, it was something that had to take place in order to bring. Salvation to us, salvation is being saved from the consequence of sin, which is death, by the gift of God, which is life, and the only life available to us is the resurrected life of Christ Jesus, and precisely why the apostle Paul said that without the resurrection we’re to be pitied of all people and are still in our sins, knowing full well that a cross had occurred where Jesus took away our sins, but also knowing something that we’ve never discovered, evidently, and that is that that forgiveness that was provided for all mankind at the cross is only received in the resurrected life of Christ Jesus, and that’s why it says in Him you have redemption, the forgiveness of sin. So, where do you, where do, where do you get that forgiveness in His resurrected life? And that’s why you don’t come forward to get your sins forgiven, which is ridiculous, because your sins are already forgiven. You come forward to get life. If you’re going to walk the aisle, come forward to get life, because you already have forgiveness, but that forgiveness is received in Him’s resurrection, and so what happens is we put all the emphasis on the cross and no emphasis on the indwelling Christ Jesus, who lives in us. So, therefore, I’m going to concentrate on what I think salvation is, and how I keep my salvation, and that is the cross, the cross, the cross. Instead of seeing no, Jesus had to eternally take away the sins of the entire world in order to offer us resurrected life, because sin is what caused death, and if He gave me life and had not taken away eternally the cause of death. The next time I sinned, I die. And so, in order to get eternal life, the cross had to be eternal in nature. Now, when we don’t teach that, then what are you doing? You are keeping people from their security in eternal life. And so, if you believe, well, yeah, okay, but I do, but I do believe I have eternal life. Well, then, but Satan comes along and says, yeah, but you’re out of fellowship. So he said, well, I don’t care either one, whether I’m out of fellowship or out of relationship. It seems to me I got a problem with God, and the issue is, no, you don’t have a problem with God. God has a problem with that teaching, but you don’t have a problem with God. God has clothed you in His righteousness. He’s given you everything that you need for life and godliness. He’s taken away eternally the cause of spiritual death, which is sin, in order to give you life eternal. So, no, He didn’t have any problem with us at all. His problem was with his false teaching, and so you’re right on that type of thing. You cannot talk out of one side of your mouth, saying Jesus took away your sins, past, present, and future. And I love the Baptist people, but, man, the most pastors just pound the Bible right down through the top of the pulpit, preaching all your sins are forgiven, past, present, and future, and emphasize that past, present, and future, and then turn right around out of the other side of their mouth and say, if you confess your sins, God will forgive you. That’s double talk, it’s double talk, and it causes a man to be unstable in all ways.” ~ Bob George
