Classic Christianity – From Milk to Solid Food – 6-24-26

~ Jesus said, “It is Finished.”

~ Today in the religion of Christendom, there are the pretend law keepers that are very proud of themselves, thinking they obey the old covenant laws. They think God is so pleased with them, that these hypocrites try to entice others to follow there fake law keeping too. It’s sicking to hear these people, of how proud they are. They will say, “I’m a Sabbath keeper” and have no clue about the Sabbath rest talked about in the book of Hebrews. And of course they say things like, “I try to keep the old testament laws, but sometimes I blow it.” And then they go and do their vending machine for forgiveness to God, thinking that God forgives them when the request is sent in. They plop in their request and out plops forgiveness. Never mind the fact that without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness by God. They are not interested in hearing the Truth, but love having their ears tickled with satan’s lies. Enough is enough. Time to call them out on these matters. It is finished. Be a spokesperson of Truth. Tell it like it is.

And a certain ruler asked Him, saying, “Good Teacher, having done what, will I inherit eternal life?”
And Jesus said to him, “Why do you call Me good? No one is good, except God alone. Luke 18:18,19

Jesus is God in flesh: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” John 1:1

Pray to God:

Do you really want to know the WHOLE Truth of what is going on today?

Lord Jesus, teach me the truth of the world today and give me the wisdom to know the truth and identify the lies of the devil. Thank you God.”

~ Bob George discusses the superiority of the New Covenant over the Old, emphasizing that the law was given to show humanity’s inability to fulfill it, with Jesus being the only one to do so. He explains that Christians should live by the Spirit, not by the law, and that true understanding of the Bible comes through the Spirit. Bob criticizes the focus on religious rituals and works, stressing that salvation is a gift of grace, not something earned. He also addresses the misuse of scriptures to instill guilt and the importance of recognizing sin and trusting in God’s forgiveness.

“We do not live under the law, we do not live under principles, we live by a life. Now, there are some people that never get away from that, and they still think that, as a Christian, that you live by the law. The Bible says if you live by the law, you cannot be led by the Spirit. So, it’s very simple. Do you want to be led by the law that you cannot fulfill, or do you want to be led by the Spirit that has fulfilled it for you? And so this book of Hebrews is a marvelous book of people that many times they never read, and many times we never hear a sermon on, and we never get in and study the meaning of this book, because if you would understand the book of Hebrews, you will understand salvation in its totality, it’s a message of you can’t, but I, Jesus, did. And so the Apostle Paul, or not the Apostle Paul, we don’t know for sure who wrote the book of Hebrews. So the author of Hebrews, in verse 11, says we have so much to say about all these things, but it’s hard to explain because you’re slow to learn. In fact, though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you the elementary truths of God’s word all over again. You need milk, not solid food.” ~ Bob George

Bob George 0:28
This book of Hebrews is a book of showing of the superiority not only of Christ Jesus, but the severe, the superiority of the covenant that Christ Jesus brought in to effect went after his death, we’ll be studying in the ninth chapter of Hebrews, as it explains that a will, or a covenant, or a testament, all of those words are interchangeable, went into effect the New Covenant on the day that Jesus died, and it explains that, that just as we have a will that will not go into effect until the day we die, the same thing was true with Christ Jesus, that the Old Covenant had to be fulfilled through his life, and only Christ Jesus could fulfill that. He gave the law to us to show us that we can’t live up to it. Now, it sounds strange to you. Why would God give us the law in order to show us we can’t live up to it? Well, because we can’t live up to it, and unless we had the law to show us that we couldn’t live up to it, we would be walking around, as some people still do, even though they are, they think they’re doing well under the law, still think that they’re really neat people, and it’s strange to me how that people can be so deceived in their minds to believe that they’re law keepers, where James says, if you’ve kept the whole law and just violated at one point, you’ve violated all of it. And so the purpose of the law that God gave to Moses was not to put as a standard of righteousness, but it was given to us to show us that we cannot live up to it, and there’s only one person who ever lived up to the totality of the law, and his name is not Bob George, it’s Jesus, he’s the only one who ever fulfilled the law. He’s the only one who could ever have fulfilled the law, and the way in which Christ Jesus fulfilled the law was walking in perfect love. And we’re told in the scripture that perfect love is the fulfillment of the law. He walked in perfect love, thus fulfilling the law that had been given to mankind, which we could not fulfill, and fulfilling it for us, and then through his death ushering in a brand New Covenant of grace today.

We do not live under the law, we do not live under principles, we live by a life. You need milk, not solid food.

Now, what he is saying there to the readers of this book is that many times we stop, and if we are saved, we’ve never grown beyond that, and many times we come to a saving knowledge of Christ Jesus, and and we do so in a church setting, and then we say, okay, tell me, church, what to believe, and so we never get into the scriptures on our own, and if we do, it’s in kind of a formal setting, an intellectual type setting, where we learn, we learn things, we learn the definition of justification and sanctification, and all those ations, we learn all that, but we never personally apply it to our lives, it never becomes real. To us, it’s just something that we know, just like we know that that Lincoln was killed in the Ford Theater. It’s a historical fact that we know, but there’s no meaning to us. I’ve said to you so many times, you do not put your faith in what God says, you put your faith in what God means, and the only way you’re going to know the meaning of the word of God is if the Spirit of God lives in you, so first of all, you have to be born again, or you’ll never know the meaning of the word of God, and secondly to depend upon that Spirit who lives in you to be the revealer of the meaning of the word of God. Precisely why you have people who are going to Bible churches, and they learn what it says, and they can quote back to you what it says, and I know this, folks, as I’ve been there, so I’m not talking speculation, I know what I’m talking about, I’ve been there, and I’ve taught what I had no idea what it meant.

I remember I was at a conference in Atlanta, Georgia, one time speaking at a large conference there of Exchange Life Ministries, and at the end of one of the messages, a girl came up, tears streaming down her eyes, and said, “Could I talk to you a moment?” and went over, sat down, sat there with said, tears streaming down her eyes, telling me how much that the ministry that I had had meant to her, and I said, “Well, what was it that touched your lives?” And she said, “Well, when years ago I heard you teaching about imputed righteousness and about how that our righteousness had to be given to us, and we don’t have any.” My comment to her was, “Ma’am, I’m certainly glad it did something for you at that time, but it hadn’t done anything for me as yet.” I taught it, but it was never personalized. It was never made a part of my own reality. It was just words of knowledge that I had learned, and so many times we know words of knowledge, but the meaning has to be revealed by the Spirit of God. Many times it takes hardships and trials and tribulation, and times when you’re absolutely down at the very bottom of where you could be for you to understand the meaning of God’s love and grace. It’s when you’re down the lowest that you find Him waiting for you. And so we have such a tendency to talk about the blessings of God, and you hear people, “Oh, my business is just wonderful, and God, I am so blessed. God just blesses, blesses, blesses, blesses, blesses, and blesses. You understand, you know when God blesses you, when you’re at your lowest, not when you’re at your highest. If you want to get blessed, get low, because he isn’t going to bless you high, because you’re not ready for blessing. And there’s a lot of people who live today with an idea that godliness is a means to financial gain. And when my business is going great, that’s God just blessing the socks right off of me. But if business gets bad, what’s he doing to you? Blessing you. I don’t mean for you to pray for bad business, but I am saying to you that you’re going to get blessed when you find out I can’t, but he can, because as long as I think I can do it, I don’t need his blessing.

And so all of these teachings of Christ Jesus is saying to us that we need to get beyond the elementary truths, we need to go beyond these things and get into the deeper things of Christ Jesus. I also see another thing that I find out a lot of time in my experience is you tell people you’re sharing things with people, and they say, I know that. How many of you ever had that? Oh, I know that. Well, you know what I say to them? No, you don’t, or you wouldn’t say I know that, because the issue is we never learn the depths of the word of God, do we? We’ll never get to the depth of the understanding of the word of God. Every day it’s fresh. I’ve given messages, and Amy’s had to listen to them for years and years and years. You never get tired of them. Why? Because you never hit the depth of them. Every time you hear it, you hear something new. That’s the beauty of the word of God. And so we don’t ever want to get to the point where we think we know it all. And so he’s saying to us that we need to move on, God willing, he says we will do so.

Now he talks about the fact that anyone who lives on milk, still being an infant, is acquainted, is not acquainted with the teaching about righteousness. Now, again, what’s he talking about there? The teaching about righteousness. What is God’s teaching about righteousness? I’ll tell you, God was in Christ reconciling you unto Himself, not counting your sins against you. That it is because of Him, God, that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for you your righteousness. Righteousness is not something we earn. Righteousness is something we receive by grace. I don’t stand righteous in the sight of God, because of anything that I’ve done, nor will I ever stand before God in righteousness, because of what I’ve done. I will only stand clothed in the righteousness of Christ Jesus. And if any of us think that we’re going to go into the presence of God in our clothes, you may as well forget it. You’re going to go clothed in His righteousness, or will never go into the presence of God. It’s all Him, guys. It’s none of us. It’s all Him. Salvation isn’t what you’re doing for God. Salvation is what God has done for you.

Religion is always talking about what we’re doing. That’s all religion does, is talk about what we do. I’ve talked to people many times, you go and all you talk about, go to lunch, talk about church, church, church, church, church, church, church, church, church, church, church, church, church. And we have this in the church, we do that, the church and the church and the church. What are you talking about? The body. Where’s the conversation about the head? Who do you think should be feeding the body, but the head. We don’t talk about the head, he’s not very important. We just talk about the body flopping around like a chicken with his head cut off. Folks, our conversation should not be directed about what we are doing. Our conversation should be directed about what he has done and what he is doing every day in our lives, and it’s great when he’s doing things through us, but if we do give the praise to him. I, quite frankly, have difficulty in comprehending the thought that to the God who created this entire universe is deeply impressed with what I’m doing, and so that’s why it says quit bragging about what we’re doing, and get your eyes where they belong. Peeled on Jesus, not us. Now that’s what He’s talking about here in regard to teaching about righteousness. Righteousness is we don’t have any in and of ourselves, so let’s forget that. That our righteousness comes from Him and from Him alone.

But solid food, it says, is for the mature. And when we come to Christ, I don’t care how old we are physically, we’re babes in Christ, aren’t we? We’re called babies in Christ, and babies need to grow, and babies need to be fed originally on what? Milk you don’t put a steak to a baby, but he doesn’t want us to remain on milk. He wants us to grow in grace, to grow in our knowledge of the grace of God. And so he wants us to have solid food for the mature, who by constant usage. In other words, you’re going to mature, not by knowing more, but as Bob was saying, about applying more to let the life of Jesus, who lives in you, be manifested to those around you, until you don’t have to work at it, but you, you’re just there. I think one of the greatest things about being a Christian and growing in Christ is just being able to be yourself, isn’t it nice to just be able to be you and quit acting? Don’t you hate Christian actors? They become like monkeys and and parrots out parenting verbiage and trying to act like Christians. We get that sickling look on her face and all of that kind of stuff, you know, just acting, just be yourself, and just be who you are, and let God live His life in and through you.

Bob George 14:16
Sometimes we say things that that we used to say, when we were lost, you know, things happened. Sometimes, and you express that, that things have happened. Then God looks down and says, “Ooh, do you hear what old Bud just said?” Guys, there’s nothing like being yourself, just relaxing and letting God be God in your life. You don’t have to act and pretend and to be an actor. If I have to act to be like a Christian, I’d discount it and forget it. Pitch this Bible out the window and forget it. If I had to act like a Christian, I am one.

Food is for mature who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil. That’s another characteristic of a Christian, is you will be able to discern between right and wrong, and good from evil, at the Garden of Eden, remember, He said, the day you eat there of this tree of the knowledge of good and evil, you will die. The day that man says, I don’t need you, God, to determine right from wrong and good from evil, you’re on your own. And folks, I believe that, as a Christian, I can’t live up to what I know is always right, can you? But I don’t ever want to deny what God says is right and wrong. If God calls something sin, it’s sin. It’s not a healthy concern, it is not an alternate lifestyle. It is called sin, and you can make up all these excuses, and one of them is, if you sin real bad, I need a counselor. Why? Well, I’d rather be sick than sinful. So, let’s try to play sick for a while to excuse my sinful behavior. Folks, you can’t excuse your sinful behavior. Call it what it is, it’s sin. What did God do for that sin? Took it away from the eyes of God, by who? By grace, took it away from the eyes of God, never to see it again. And isn’t that something wonderful to realize that when we blow it, that God has taken that sin away, never to see it again? But He says, as a child of God, I’m going to deal with you as a child, and I can’t deal with you if you’re denying what I say is sin. And so this training, this maturity comes down to a point of being able to distinguish right from wrong and good from evil, and being able to determine that. You know people who think that they are living such a good and holy life. I ask them sometime, do you ever worry? No, you ever worry? Well, yeah, yeah, yeah, it’s a healthy concern. No, it isn’t a healthy concern, it’s worry. Now, when I ask you a question, can you have faith and worry at the same time? What does God say about faith? That which is not a faith is what? Sin. So, is worry a sin, is it or not? Do you call it sin, or do you call it healthy concern? Are you healthy concerned over your children, or are you worried about them? God says you can’t trust me and worry at the same time, and see, we don’t want to talk with those. Talk to me about adultery and stealing, talk to me about the stuff we don’t do a whole bunch of, but don’t talk to me about worry, because that, that gets under my skin, that shows me that maybe I’m a sinner. I want to ask you a question again, is it sin or is it not to worry? It’s not a faith, is it? So that which is not a faith is what? Sin. Call it what it is. No big deal. You don’t feel guilty over it. God took that sin away, did He not? But He says you don’t need to be doing that. He says in all things with prayer and supplication and thanksgiving, let your requests be known unto God. And then he said, the peace of God that passes all understanding will quieten your heart and your mind in Christ Jesus. He said, don’t be anxious about that’s worry, is anxiety worrying about what’s going to happen tomorrow. He says, you don’t have to worry about that. He said, cast your cares upon me. Why? He said, because I care about you. Now, does that make sense? Is that hard to figure out? And that’s what maturity is, being able to distinguish right from wrong, good from evil, calling sin what it is, and going to God for the solution to that. And he’s always got a solution. If you’re worried, cut it out and begin to trust me. You can trust me with your life.

Therefore, he said, let’s leave the elementary teachings about Christ and go on to maturity, not laying again a foundation of repentance from acts that lead to death and of faith in God, instruction about baptisms, the laying on of hands, the resurrection from the dead, and eternal judgment, and God permitting we will do so. God wants us to grow in our knowledge of grace. Now, this next passage is a passage that the legalist have tried to bury people with for years. There are many, many people, folks around the world, and you run into them as you travel around the world that have been beat up terribly by religion in their past. As a kid, there’s everything from knocking your knuckles when you did wrong to beat you in the head to putting you on guilt trips to telling you you’re worthless. I could on and on and on. How many of you have experienced any one of those things, or even more? Most of us. Now, what he is saying here is very simple, and but what happens is that people who do not understand the truth of the grace of God use passages, misinterpret them and beat you to death with them. This is one of them.

It’s impossible for those who have been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, and who have shared in the Holy Spirit, who have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of this coming age, if they fall away, to be brought back to repentance, because to their loss they’re crucifying the Son of God all over again and subjecting Him to public disgrace. Now, do we all know what that says? You all read, do we all know what that says? Now, the issue is not what it says, what does it mean? Now, if you’re sitting down there and saying, oh man, that means if I fall away, I can’t be brought back to repentance. That means I’ve done what, lost my what? My salvation, and I’ll never get it again. I can’t come back. I’ve gone too far. I’ve crossed the line. How many of you ever been taught that you crossed the line? Is this what it means? No, no, this is talking about what is over in chapter eight. It’s just the preamble to it about the New Covenant, and in chapter eight, beginning in verse 10, if you want to turn to your scriptures there. This is a covenant I’ll make with the house of Israel after that time, declares the Lord, I’ll put my laws in their minds. Those are the laws of Jesus. I’ll write them in their hearts. I’ll be their God, and I’ll be my people. No longer will man teach his neighbor or a man his brother, saying, “Know the Lord, because they all know me, from the least of them to the greatest.” Why? For I will forgive their wickedness and remember their sins no more. By calling this covenant new, He has made the first one obsolete, and what is obsolete is aging and will soon disappear. What has God done with your sins? Their sins and lawless acts I’ll remember no more, and where these have been forgiven, there’s no longer any sacrifice for sins. Is that true or not? Well, you see, if a person is saying, if you’ve tasted, you’ve tasted all these things, and folks, when you taste something, it means you’ve just tasted it. It doesn’t mean you’ve drunk the whole thing, you’ve just tasted it, you’ve shared all of these things are applicable to Judas. So he’s saying if you fall away, you can’t be brought back to repentance. Why? Have you ever noticed how hard it is to be brought back from where you’ve never been? How many of you have ever come back from where you’ve never been? Anybody in here ever returned from where you haven’t been? It’s impossible, that’s what he’s saying here. It’s impossible. What does he mean here? You’ve never repented, you’ve tasted, but you’ve never changed your mind. Change your mind about what? You’re crucifying the Son of God all over again, subjecting into public disgrace. What does that mean? You have never changed your mind about the finality of the cross. When Jesus cried out from the cross, “It’s finished.” Guess what He meant? It’s finished. It’s over. There’s no more forgiveness to be executed on your behalf.

Now, if you are continuing now to develop ways and means of keeping your self forgiveness, which the Catholics have done with their confession booth, and the Protestants have done with keeping short accounts with God, and any other harebrained idea we’ve come up with in order to keep ourselves forgiven. When the truth of the matter is, you’re already forgiven. You were born forgiven. God was in Christ reconciling the whole world unto himself, not counting their sins against them. Is that true, or isn’t it? You’re not only taking away your sins, but your guilt. Now again, you keep crucifying the Son of God all over again. What does that mean? If there’s any further forgiveness to be executed on your behalf, what would Christ have to do? Die again. Because why? There is no more sacrifice for sins. Is that right or wrong, guys? There is no more sacrifice for sins. So, if there was any further forgiveness to be executed on your and my behalf, what would Christ have to do? Die again, and that’s what He’s saying. You’re in your mind crucifying Him all over again. You’re asking Him to do what if He did, he’d have to climb back on a cross and die again. Is that what you’re looking for, subjecting him to the public disgrace that he had to go through in order to take away your and my sin, never to see it again from the eyes of God? Well, then why do we keep insulting him by continually asking him to do what in Christ He’s already accomplished, and cried out from the cross, “It is finished,” paid in what full, not in part. It’s like the sin, “My sins, not in part, but in whole, have been nailed to the cross. And so this passage of scripture is for these people who are teaching that you have to keep yourself forgiven, you got to keep going back to the sacrificial system, you have to keep going back to the day of atonement to the Jew. The Catholics picked up and said, “No, no, you can go to the priest,” and the Protestant said, ‘Oh no, you don’t need a priest, you can go direct,’ and God’s up in heaven saying it’s finished. What’s wrong with you people that you cannot enter in by faith to the truth that it is finished? Why can’t you rejoice in thanking God for what He has already done, instead of begging Him for what in Christ He’s already accomplished? What’s wrong with you? Why can’t you do what? Walk by what? Faith, not by works. Now, if you’re walking by works, I got to keep myself forgiven. That’s why people today say, “Oh, I’m born again, I’m just born again, I hardly stand it.” I ask God, forgive me every day, I keep short of counsel God. I’m born again, born again. Really? But how come you’re not walking in truth? How come you’re not walking in truth if you’re truly born again, because who are you born again by? What Jesus do you have that didn’t take away the sins of the world? What Jesus do you have? Have you made up your own?
